Facing Challenges: Chronic Illness and the Need for Financial Support

Hi my name is Maria. I want to tell you how I feel and how I feel right now.

Life has presented me with unexpected challenges, and in my personal journey, I find myself at a crossroads that requires understanding and solidarity. Some time ago, I was diagnosed with a chronic illness that has transformed my daily life. This diagnosis has not only disrupted my health, but has also created significant financial strain.

Right now, I find myself in the difficult situation of needing financial help to cover the cost of rent.

The illness has imposed an additional financial burden on top of the existing one, plunging me into a reality where bills and basic needs become a constant challenge.

Managing a chronic illness not only involves regular medical treatments, but also lifestyle adaptations and sometimes changes in the ability to maintain full-time employment. This adjustment has directly affected my financial situation, making meeting rent a difficult task to navigate.

For this reason, I owe 3 months of rent, which is $2,100, which I cannot afford right now. And the date of Christmas makes me sad and vulnerable.

I recognize that sharing this vulnerability is not easy, but I firmly believe in the strength of community and empathy. The need for financial help to cover rent is presented as an unavoidable reality in my life at this moment. The fear of losing the stability of a home adds an additional layer of stress to my already complex situation.

Those who have faced chronic illnesses understand that the associated costs go beyond medical bills. Economic challenges multiply, and each contribution becomes a ray of hope in the midst of uncertainty.

While the situation is challenging, I also firmly believe in resilience and the ability to overcome these obstacles with the right support. Every small contribution becomes a step towards stability and allows me to focus on my health without the constant worry of the roof over my head.

If you decide to provide support, I want to express my deep gratitude. Your generosity will not only ease the financial burden, but will also be a powerful reminder of human solidarity in difficult times. I am committed to getting through this stage and, when circumstances allow, reaching out to support others who may be facing similar challenges.

I sincerely appreciate any help you can offer and greatly value the emotional support you provide me as I navigate these challenging times. The community can be a beacon of hope, and I am confident that with your help, I will be able to overcome these obstacles and build a more stable future.

What I need is $2,100 to pay my rent debt and not be at these street parties with my family. Thank you.

Lost my left field of vision. Not able to Drive

My name is Erick Redmann. I am a 53 year old  man with one son who is now 15 and an older brother. More on him later.

This June I was diagnosed with bleeding in my brain. I was told that a craniotomy needed to be perfomed. That is where they remove a section of your skull to access  your brain. This needed to be done so they could “clean up the bleeding.” The other problem is I had a mechanical heart valve. How is this a problem. I had to be on blood thiners. I was informed that due to the blood thinners  I would need to have a bio heart valve put in. The reason for doing this is because if I stay on the blood thinners it could worsen the brain bleeding. The problem with that is taking me off the blood thinners could cause a clot to form on the mechanical valve and that could end up  causing a stroke. So the surgeries were done and I came out great.

You can imagine that with a brain bleed they needed to take many CAT scans and MRI scans. I had many up to and many after my surgeries.  They informed that it looked like I had a stroke  after one of the surgeries. The area it has affected is in my vision center. I have lost most fo the left perifrial vision in my left and right eyes.

You will never guess what I have been doing for work for the last 5 years. Did you guess driving? You guessed correctly. The doctors informed me I should not drive. I agree with them. I can barely walk around with out running into people, signs and posts. My employer has been great and trying to find things for me to do. How is this a problem? I went home for a few weeks to recover. I have been back to work for about a month now. They are not able to keep me on as a full time employee so I am now part time. This is not bringing in the money I need to be able to afford rent and other necessities.

As I stated above I live with my brother. I stated earlier I had more to tell about him. He was born premature, this happens all the time no problem. Not with my brother. When he was coming out the birth canal his head was squeezed and cause brain damage. This has cause some learning disabilities and cognative issues. He is doing great healthwise. He has worked since he was a teenager and continues to do so. He is limited to the types of jobs he can do and not many of them pay that great if yo u can imagine.

It has been about two months since I have been out of the hospital and we are running low on funds as you can imagine. I, my brother and my son would greatly apreaciate any assistance you could give.

Thank you,

Erick Redmann

Big Dreams in the Big Apple: My Journey to NYC

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y7MUrNxqQLk
My name is Dora Diamond, and I would like to share my story with you. I am a disabled trans woman with a lifelong passion for music, entertainment and performance. In the earliest infancy of that passion, a dream was formed; a dream that I believe can come true with your help. I am launching this GoFundMe campaign because I need your support in raising funds to make the life-changing move to New York City and pursue my dream of supporting myself as an established professional entertainer and musician.
Why New York City?
There’s a reason it’s called “The City of Dreams”. New York City is a vibrant hub of creativity and opportunity, brimming with ambition, inspiration and the ceaseless thundering of the tenacious human spirit. It is also the place where I believe I can truly thrive. Delia Ephron said it best, “New Yorkers are born all over the country, and then they come to New York City and it hits them: Oh, that’s who I am.” I was first blessed with the opportunity to visit this remarkable city in April of 2023. I spent two weeks exploring, performing and meeting an array of incredible people, including some of my idols of the entertainment industry. That experience gifted me with such a sense of affirmation, self-realization and determination. I thought these feelings could only exist in my dreams, and for the first time I was living them in real time. Though I have only recently experienced the Big Apple in person, I’ve dreamt of this city since I was a very young child.
For as long as I can remember, New York City has always existed as a sort of mythical wonderland in my mind, a place too larger-than-life to be real. Like many small town midwesterners, I was first introduced to the rich culture of New York through the seductive lens of cinema, music and theater. But even then, what drew me to the city more than these glamorous spectacles was the intimate portrait of the city painted through the stories told to me by my late maternal grandmother. She was born in 1921 in Manhattan, and some of my earliest memories are centered around the stories she would tell me of her childhood there. She spoke of Springtime in Central Park, Summers at Coney Island, going to the Metropolitan Opera House with her sister, and discovering her love of music within its hallowed halls. Her stories filled my little mind with visions of a city that embodied hope, optimism and a lust for life.
In my adolescence, my mother made me aware of our family’s Jewish heritage. This came as a surprise to me, as my grandmother had never mentioned it to me growing up. When I asked why, it was revealed that while she was stationed in Florida in the 1940s, my grandmother became the target of an Antisemitic hate group. Because of their threats, harassment and abuse, she was forced to conceal her Jewish identity and heritage, and convert religions out of fear. She would go on to raise my mother, aunt and uncles to do the same, warning them to never let anyone know that our family was Jewish. Antisemitic violence tore me and my family away from our culture, and I have yearned to reconnect with this part of my identity ever since. During my visit to New York this past Spring, I was able to meet some of the surviving members of my grandmother’s family, where I learned even more about my family’s history in the city. New York City is, quite literally, in my blood.
There are opportunities to explore my culture in this city that extend beyond just one facet of my identity. As a transgender woman, it is impossible to overstate the cultural and historical significance of New York City. It is the birthplace of the modern LGBTQ Rights movement, from Marsha P. Johnson, Sylvia Rivera and the riots at Stonewall, to the royal houses of the Ballroom community, to the Club Kids of the 80s and 90s, to the proliferation of queer artists and creatives like Keith Haring, Jean-Michel Basquiat and James Baldwin. New York City is synonymous with queer history, art, and joy.
This city has a rich history of embracing diversity and providing a platform for artists and creatives of all backgrounds to shine. As a disabled trans woman, I know the challenges I may face. Not only am I convinced that this city holds opportunity, community and accessibility unlike anything I have experienced before, but I am determined to work tirelessly, break barriers and pave the way for others like me. New York City offers a welcoming and diverse community where I can be my true self, realize my true purpose and share my art with the world.
My Journey So Far:
Throughout my life, music and entertainment have always been my refuge. I have been performing music and theater since I was a young child, and for the last 12 years I’ve poured my heart and soul into honing my skills as an entertainer, whether it’s writing songs, singing, performing, or producing. I’ve had many incredible experiences performing in my city, playing for crowds of anywhere between 2 and 2,000 people, but living with an invisible disability in a smaller city with limited opportunities and accessibility has made it increasingly difficult to survive and pursue my dreams.
My disability prevents me from being able to safely drive, so public transportation is the only transportation available to me. A car is essential to get around in my city, and the public transportation is unreliable and inconsistent. I also struggle with maintaining traditional full time employment, as my disability makes things like time management, executive function, routines, and consistent sleep schedules virtually impossible. It is only through the combination of entertainment gigs and supplemental part time work that I am able to live, but supporting oneself as a creative in Wisconsin is difficult in a myriad of ways. The job culture of New York City has always embraced the artist working part time to make ends meet, and has always invested in its creatives in ways unheard of in the rest of the country. I’ve faced many challenges related to my gender, my location and disability, and I’ve had to overcome numerous obstacles to get to where I am today, but I am confident that New York City is the place where I can realize my full potential.
My Dream:
Everything I create is presented through the lens of my lived experience. Every piece of music, every stage performance, they are all vulnerable expressions of my struggles, triumphs, insecurities, philosophy, pain, and joy. My goal is to create and perform meaningful pieces that can empower and provide solace, not only for those who share my experiences, but for anyone who can relate to them. I want to create music that resonates with people of all kinds and that makes a difference in the world, no matter how small. I aspire to be a voice for my community through my art, bringing hope, inspiration, and joy to those who listen and watch. To make this dream a reality, I need your help.
How Your Support Will Make a Difference:
The goal set in this campaign is designed to cover four months of rent and moving/living expenses. In addition to this campaign, I am raising money by working as hard and as often as I possibly can, performing and working in my current part-time position, as well as selling my belongings and organizing in-person fundraising events. The funds I’m seeking to raise will go towards the following:
  • Moving Expenses: Relocating to New York City is a significant undertaking, involving moving companies and almost 900 miles of travel. Your donations will help cover the costs of moving my life and belongings.
  • Housing/Living Expenses: New York City is known for its high cost of living, and your support will help me secure safe and stable housing. In addition, your generous donations will go toward food, healthcare, transportation and other necessities.
Ways You Can Help:
  • Donate: Every dollar counts, and your donation, no matter how big or small, will bring me one step closer to achieving my dream. my PayPal link is https://paypal.me/doradiamond

  • Listen: Support my dream by listening, streaming, sharing and purchasing my music. Links to all my current works can be found at https://linktr.ee/doradiamond

I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking the time to read my story and consider supporting my dream. We live in unprecedented times and we are all doing our best to survive and achieve our dreams. But together, I truly believe we can make this dream a reality. By supporting me, you’re not just helping one person; you’re helping to create a more inclusive and diverse world where everyone’s talents and dreams are supported and celebrated. Please join me on this journey to New York City and help me share my story with the world. I know in the deepest parts of my soul that this move is the key to improving my mental/physical health and wellness, realizing my potential and becoming self-sufficient. With your help, we can make it happen. Thank you so very much.

Rent

Dear Donors

Here I am resending my request for financial assistance to cover my living expenses, mostly my overdue rent payment.

My situation has become very stressful and I’m on the verge of getting evicted. My request for overdue rent was submitted on this platform on the 24th of November, and my rent was overdue already. Now that time is moving it has doubled. My initial rent is £425 per month and I humbly request immediate help of  £2000. The breakdown would be as follows; £850 to cover my 2 months rent arrears, £500 to cover rent for my family, £250 for my day to day living expenses until I get back on my feet, £400 for my family to cover school fees and buy food till I’m back on my feet.

Background; I left my job last year in Africa to work in Europe. I left my wife and four daughters back there. I have been sending them money for rent, school fees, food and other necessary stuff. Three of them are at school, and the eldest finished school but is still under my care. During the beginning of this month my situation turned upside-down with my employer who happens to be family. Family politics was inter twinned with work which has led to my redundancy. This has caused me to seek financial assistance as a matter of urgency.

The opportunities for a new job have not been successful after many attempts and applications. It’s as if the evil one cast a dark spell in my life. Wth the financial help I can be able to cover my arrears, get fed me and my family back home while I pray that God showers me a blessed new job.

Your sincere request

Need help for a new start

Hi, I am very hardworking and honest person who has always helped others when ever I can. I have always taken care of myself and others, but now I am facing situation that I am the one who needs help. When Covid started in 2023 I lend big sum of money to my friends as they had to find new place to live. They never paid me back. Needless to say we are not in good terms anymore. My residency and work permit application in USA was rejected and I was given 33 days to leave the country. Only place where I could go then was Mexico. Borders were closed and there was no flights anywhere else. I sold everything I had and took two suitcases with me. I went to Mexico and rented Airbnb for 6 months. I kind of got stuck here, so I rented own apartment. I decorated it and  bought everything from the scratch, I had nothing with me but some clothes. I worked very hard and was proud of what I had achieved. Then I had to visit my home country to fix my residency papers. I did that and when I came back I had nothing. Everything was stolen and no one seemed to know what happened. I still don’t know. I don’t know who to blame and police does not care. Landlord played innocent. He was more worried of his own property than me. Someone came in with a key, so the apartment was fine in that sense. I lend money from my relatives to rent a new place to live. They are not wealthy, so I will pay them back when I can. I have tried to take more work to get balanced financially, and I don’t know what is going on, but I am promised work and then nothing. This has happened so many times that I don’t know what to do anymore. I am not asking for much. I hope to collect 700 dollars, so I can buy some furniture for my new place and buy groceries. Hopefully I will get work this month, so far there is nothing else but empty promises. I have been always very resourceful, I usually sell something that I own when needed, but I don’t have anymore anything to sell. All was stolen from me! I have also tried to do affiliate marketing online. So far I have made zero dollars. I know I will bounce back with some help. I don’t owe anything to anyone and I work hard, I just need work and get back into balance financially and emotionally.  Thank you in advance for your time and consideration! I hope you never have to face what I have.

Bad start at life

About 3 years ago my parents kicked me out of the house because I had an alcohol dependency. Luckily, I had 2 friends, coworkers at the time, who let me move into their apartment where I slept on the couch. After a few months lease ended, and we decided to rent a 3-bedroom apartment. we have been at this apartment for a little over 2 years. Within that time, I’ve slowed down on drinking and have been trying to put things together, but it feels like every step forward I take I get knocked back immediately.

My car was stolen early this year, I used my little savings and the insurance money to finance a car, with my payments being 350 a month, total price of the car being 6,577. I was thinking if I financed a car, I’d at least have a dependable vehicle to get to and from work, but not even a week into having the car the alternator died. I’d like to get it fixed but I’ve been behind on rent, I just don’t have the money to save. My job pays enough for me to catch up, but there are no bus routes that can get me there. I’ve been taking Ubers there and back, around $40-$50 a ride and that’s been taking a majority of my paycheck. I’m currently 3 months behind on rent, I’m just lucky my roommate hasn’t kicked me out yet.

I didn’t have enough money in my bank account to take an uber to work today, so I tried to call a taxi, which the driver went to a different part of the complex, couldn’t find me and hung up on me. It just felt like the last straw. I spent the rest of the day stressing about rent and how I’m going to get to work tomorrow. If I could just get a little financial help, I can pick the rest up myself.

Thank you for your time.

Addiction Counselor Fired for Reporting Discrimination and Hostile work environment

Hello,

Today I find myself in a situation that I have not experienced in a long time. I was terminated from my job which is in a field I’m passionate about. I am a Clinical Substance Abuse Counselor and on 9/26/23 I reported some racists behavior by a subordinate. I did not see it coming as I have been an exemplary employee. Shortly after my complaint I was fired from my job. The reasons were nothing I have ever heard since I had been with the company. After the shock wore off, I calculated my bills along with my savings to see how I would be able to take care of myself and my 17-year-old son. I am also a single mother. I applied for unemployment initially it denied and then released. I get $370 a week which I must live off each week as I have no other income. My savings got us this far and now they are depleted I can’t pay rent for December which is 1375 US Dollars, my utilities are 80 US Dollars, and my car has not lapsed it’s 1200 US Dollars. Also, Christmas is upon us, and I will not be able to provide for my son or grandchildren this year.

I’m looking for employment daily and also looking to start a non-profit organization to assist women with Substance Abuse Issues.

The stress of the unknown is very depressing. As I mentioned earlier in my letter, I am passionate about my work because 18 years ago I struggled with addiction and today I’m still clean and sober. I am looking for a little help to get back on my feet. If anyone could be so kind and a blessing to assist me with 5000 US Dollars to get my head above water with these bills so my son and I do not add to the number of unhoused citizens in my state.  I also asked for assistance from my state, and I was also denied any assistance due to unemployment. This was an extremely hard decision to make as I had no one that could help as I was the person everyone leaned on. I pray that someone can help me as my Rent is due by December 5,2023 after that the process toward eviction will start. I pray that someone can assist. Just truly know that this is for a worthy cause. Thanks in advance and God Bless you.

I need $1,500 to avoid eviction

Hello.

edit: I managed to pay the rent for December with the help of a family member, but I still haven’t found a job and I don’t have a way to pay it this month. I will be evicted on January 9th, please help

Today I find myself in a very difficult situation and I do not have a way to pay my apartment rent, so I must be evicted on December 9Th.

How did I get to this situation?

I tell you that I had a traffic accident in September and my car was a total loss. I was an Uber driver and suddenly I was left without my car and therefore lost my source of income.

I was also hospitalized because the crash and the pressure of the seat belt against my body, left me with severe pain and I could not even walk. An ambulance picked me up at the scene of the accident to the emergency room and I was admitted to the hospital for one day,  and there the doctors determined that I had no damaged organs or broken bones, I just had severe pain, due to the impact of the two cars that collided with mine.

I was left with a medical debt from my insurance co-payments and also a debt from the car that I lost, since even though the insurance covered It, I was left with a part of the deductibles that I still owe. I had a lot of difficulty moving, walking, etc. for one month,  in which I did not look for new jobs, but already this month,  and since I am not in financial condition to buy another car, I started applying for various jobs, but I still have not hired.

Right now I do not even have money to pay my apartment rent and If I do not do it before December 9th, I will be evicted. I have almost no family, I already went to them and They told me that They were not in good economic conditions and that They could not help me.

I am desperately asking for help this month, please, because It must be so hard to be homeless and just thinking about it, I start to cry. I have great faith that I will get a job during the month of December and I will be able to take back the reins of my life, as I have done until now.

Thanks in advance.

From Homeless to UCLA Graduate: Please Help!

Dear Donors,

I am contacting you for financial assistance with my monthly living expenses while I look for a job.  I am requesting $1,500/month for six months to avoid eviction and allow me to continue looking for employment.  If you can connect me with a job, that would be fantastic!  I am open to paying the money back once I get a source of income, or paying it forward on this website.

Background:  About ten years ago I experienced concurrent tragedies that irrevocably changed my life.  I do not wish to go into the details, but it involved family.  I isolated myself, I fell into a deep depression, and I had to start my life over.  I did not have any support from my parents because they passed away several years prior.  I ended up living at a homeless shelter for almost five months until I found employment.  At the conclusion of my ordeal, I learned the value of mental healthcare and I was determined to study psychology with the intent of becoming a psychotherapist.

In 2015, I enrolled at the local community college full-time and I got a part-time job to make ends meet.  I did great in school and earned a 4.0 GPA, so I applied to a few universities and I was very fortunate to be admitted to UCLA in 2018.  It was the first time in a while that I felt good about myself and my life.  My dream of a career in mental healthcare was looking brighter than ever.

Then the COVID-19 pandemic struck, classes went remote, and I was stuck living in Los Angeles.  I had saved some money to fund my relocation expenses after graduation, but that money was used to pay for my living expenses.  Now, that money is nearly depleted and I cannot find employment.   My monthly living expenses are quite reasonable for LA:  I pay rent, my mobile phone, and my life supplies.  That’s it.  I do not own a car because I sold it when I moved to LA in 2018.  Fortunately, the bus system can get me to my future job until I can save for a car.  I do not have any credit cards, or any type of credit card debt, and I do not go out, or party.  My lifestyle is the very definition of boring and I have mastered frugal living.

My hope is to get through this financial crisis without becoming homeless again because I made every effort to avoid my current circumstances.  I do not have family to ask for help, so I am grateful that this web site exists.  Any donation amount is much appreciated and I thank you for your time and consideration.

I hope everyone here asking for help is able to get their needs met and I wish you all the best this Holiday season.

Sincerely yours,

Anon Bruin

SINGLE MOM NEEDS HELP ONLY SIX DAYS LEFT TO PAY RENT

Hello,

I hope this message finds you all well. I am reaching out in a moment of desperation, seeking help for my family. I am a single mom, trying my best to navigate the challenges of raising two teenagers, one of whom is in their senior year. Recently, we faced a significant setback when I lost my largest residential cleaning account which accounted for 75% of my monthly income. Although I’ve been trying to regain the income even picking up a side job in a warehouse the financial strain has become unbearable. I am currently facing a serious risk of eviction.  I am in immediate need of $1000 to cover rent within the next six days. The loss of my primary source of income has left me feeling overwhelmed, and I am scared to death at the prospect of losing our home with no one else to turn to. I can’t begin to imagine the traumatizing effects this could have on my children as I try to keep them in good spirits and not pile on any added stress of the possibility of being homeless with the holidays coming up and graduation around the corner.  I come on this platform to explore every possible avenue to secure our shelter and gain some more time to get my head above water any donations are beyond appreciated. Below are my PayPal account and CashApp. Thank you everyone for hearing me out.

The company where i work is not paying me. Need money for Rent.

Hello, my name is Alejandro, and I currently reside in Peru. Over the past few months, I’ve encountered significant financial distress due to the company I work for facing severe financial problems. Unfortunately, this has led to them withholding my salary for the past three months. Despite my efforts, I haven’t been successful in securing a new job yet. The economic situation in my country has made it challenging to find employment opportunities as not many companies are actively hiring.

The prolonged non-payment of my salary has put me in a precarious situation. I am struggling to make ends meet, falling behind on various payments including rent, credit card bills, and other financial obligations. The slow legal system in my country makes it unlikely that I’ll receive the owed salary from my current employer anytime soon. Consequently, I am at risk of facing eviction from my residence due to rent arrears.

In these difficult circumstances, I am reaching out for financial assistance to tide me over until I secure a new job. I understand that times are tough for many, but I am genuinely in need of help. I am requesting a sum of $3000 to cover immediate expenses, including rent, overdue bills, and essential living costs.

Your support during this challenging period would be immensely appreciated. It will provide me with the necessary relief to navigate through this tough phase and work towards stabilizing my financial situation.

I am committed to finding a new job and getting back on my feet. However, at this moment, I find myself in urgent need of support to avoid the looming threat of eviction and further financial instability.

I sincerely thank you for considering my situation and extend my deepest gratitude in advance for any help or support you can provide during this challenging time. Your generosity will make a significant difference in alleviating the current financial burdens I am facing and will contribute greatly to my ability to regain financial stability.

Unfortunately we’re already behind on rent and bills and I am so afraid of getting evicted before I start making money from home. I am looking for some financial assistance from good people. I promise your donation will not be in vane. Not only will it help us catch up but also put us on track for a better financial future. I never like asking for money but at this point I’ll try anything. Thank you so much for any donation you give. I hope the best for you and your family.

College student in need

Hello, I am Jamaya Jackson. I am a first-generation college student. I started my journey at the University of North Texas in the fall of 2022. I am on track to getting my degree in 2026 and entering the world as an educator shortly after. Because I am a first gen student, I only have a little support. My mother is a single parent of 4, and it is hard for her to help me. I work 40 hours a week at Amazon, but it is not enough due to My rent, car note, and loans. I can not afford the cost of living. I am 20 years old, and I am still new to everything in this world of being an adult. I have a small business named Charmed by Maya. I make charm bracelets. I started the business when I was 16 when COVID was keeping me in my home. Sales are meager, and at this point, I am losing money. If you have any tips on how I can grow my business or any suggestions in general, I would love to hear them; learning from well-renowned people always gives me hope. Please reach out to me through my DM’s on either of my instagram accounts if you are willing to drop some gems of advice. I was at my lowest and did not know what to do. I am just trying to make it. I have picked up a second job at Denny’s but still can’t afford basic necessities.  Thank you so much for reading this and considering helping me.
