I am a 74-year-old disabled, single female on Social Security. I’ve had some very hard times over the last 20 years after my divorce of 30 years of marriage but I’ve tried to be a good citizen and support myself the best I could.

In 2016 I lost my Mom, ( Cancer, who I cared for in her last 9 years of life), My Aunt (who was only 4 years older than me!), my brother (Cancer, who was 4 years younger than me), and my 13-year-old little Yorkie all in a matter of 2 weeks..
I went into a very dark place but had a good friend who came over and packed all my things including furniture and put them into a storage unit when the current apartment I was in increased my rent to a level I could not afford any longer. I stayed with my friend for 4 months until I realized I would never be able to function if I didn’t leave the city I was in because everyone knew my Mom and I and were always asking how I was doing. I just couldn’t get out of that “black” hole.

Fortunately, I had credit cards to pay for the storage until I found an apartment in another city and I moved from Northern Nevada to Southern Nevada. I am currently in a low-income senior complex that has been a blessing to help me move on in life the best I can. Not only am I low income but I also have degeneration of my spine causing me severe pain when I stand too long, COPD & PTSD all requiring medication.

I have tried to maintain just the minimum due on my credit cards until 3 months ago when my rent was increased again. Now with my rent, utilities, groceries, car insurance, prescriptions, gas, and credit cards, I can no longer meet all my obligations. So I had to stop paying on my credit cards.

Yesterday, my car broke down in the Walmart parking lot. I had to call a tow truck to tow me to a repair shop. They charged me $898.00 to replace the alternator! That took all my rent money and I have no grocery money left either….
I have never asked for help in 20 years but I am so scared and depressed right now this is my last hope before, on top of everything else, I end up homeless and on the streets.
If there is anyone that can help me, I would be forever grateful and hope 1-day to be able to pay it forward.

Even though for the last five years we have been sticking through it ,thick and thin. We have been scammed out of homes, robed and taken advantaged of, we are still able to encourage each other. One of the siblings has undergone approximately eighteen surgeries by the time he was sixteen, Starting from age seven. Having a surgery every six months. He is eighteen and went through five more surgeries since then. My Financial life has had different turns and twists, but nothing like this moment. I always had to give up this or the other, as many parents do for their children, still I am willing to give whatever I have and can, when I have it. I am accustomed to seriously taking care of my family’s needs…all three children have their own set of needs and wants.  My children knows we have been left to figure it out, by ones who they thought would care. I tell them the world is a Beautiful place. All joking aside, this is actually really hard for me to do but 2023 has been a trying time for my household.  I’m a 41 year young female and currently take care of my 81 year old Mom.  On top of that I work full-time as a paraeducator (I work in a Special education classroom for 3-5 grade kids) and I absolutely love my job.

My trials started on August 9th of this year which happens to be my birthday.  I had a part-time gig delivering food for a food delivery service, to make some extra cash. On my last delivery of the night I had a bad car accident totaling my only vehicle and landed me in the hospital. With my injuries not only did I have “THE BEST BIRTHDAY EVER!!!, But I was also out of work for the first 2 weeks of school.

I was blessed with great friends that I work with to help me get to work until i was able to get a new vehicle, which has not yet happened. Been unemployed for a few months put me in a position to be in debt because I had to borrow money to make ends meet. Though I have a job now, I am still not able to make rent on the 1st of the month of 2024 because I had to make payments from the borrowed money (accumulated) from the months I was unemployed.

I have been going through some financial struggles lately I have lost my car that I was making payments on in the process of losing my car I lost my job which I was only getting paid tips to make it through the month, but it helped. Now that I have lost those two things I am on the verge of losing my apartment, but cause I can’t find income. Front of me and my car slide adm slide to the right and hit the truck on the right back side and then a cement truck hit me from the side and totaled my car but I’m OK. No injuries at all and the other unfortunate thing is, I had liability , it happened on November 7, 2023. It wasn’t my fault but I got a citation for an unsafe lane change which I certainly did not do the police wasn’t around and didn’t care if I was in a accident,and I’m going to court on January 25, 2024 , so I had to pay my lawyer 1000 to fight this citation. I have no car now I had to get a rental that I have to pay out-of-pocket for the way my insurance is set up. the money I had for the rent I have to give to the lawyer and pay my rental. I’m only in need of 1700 if anyone can help really appreciate it. Well let me started off by saying thank you in advanced.. This is really hard for me to do asking for help with my bills ( rent, electric and water ) I usually able to come up with something but I can’t think of nothing cause I already had a plan in place.. So let me explain so I am a cna at a rehab and long-term nursing home which is owned by one of the best hospitals in town, after saying that you would think I would be making good money & I wouldn’t be having a problem with them.. I make ok money to get the bills paid and they rather pay agency nurses more money then the workers they do have working for them.. I recently took a vacation around my birthday and I went to go visit my parents so I put in my request for my vacation and I looked at my pto to see how many I had and I had enough well more then enough, so on the paper it ask how many days you want to use your pto for and I put all of them I want to use my pto.. Cause I had heard that the check is way lesser then the check is that you are working, so putting my pto on all the days then my check would of been a little closer to one of my regular check but the lady didnt tell me she didnt put my pto on all the days I would of been off but she put them on the days I would of been working.. I dont regret going to visit my parents cause with everyone around me they losing a parent left and right so visiting my parents was a must cause the last time I had seen them was 2 years ago.. I should of went with my gut and pick up extra days before my vacation started but I been tired working my normal days and its mostly been two aides taking care of 36 residents instead of three aides so I been tired just my days so added more days I was hoping I didn’t have too cause those pto on my off days during my vacation time would of made the extra days I didn’t have to work..
