I Never Thought I Would Have to Ask for Help

I am a 45-year-old woman living alone. My two dogs, both 14 years old, are my family. They have been by my side for many years, through some of the most difficult moments of my life.

I have no parents, no partner, and no family I can turn to for financial or practical support. Throughout my life, I have experienced situations that have left me struggling to rebuild my life, including domestic violence, losing my parents, being forced out of my home, and being financially exploited by people I trusted.

There were people who claimed they wanted to help me. Unfortunately, I trusted the wrong people and was scammed. Instead of receiving help, I was left with even more debt and an even worse financial situation.

Today, I am overwhelmed by bills and basic living expenses that I simply cannot keep up with. My income is not enough to cover everything, and I have no savings left to fall back on.

My health has also made it extremely difficult for me to improve my financial situation.

In the past, I suffered a serious arm fracture as a result of domestic violence. Unfortunately, the fracture healed incorrectly. Over the years, this has caused permanent problems and limitations that make many everyday movements difficult for me. It also severely limits the kind of work I can realistically do and makes finding and maintaining employment much harder.

Then, just three weeks ago, I received another devastating piece of news.

During a medical examination, I was diagnosed with a tumor in my shoulder.

I am supposed to undergo surgery, but finding a surgeon willing to take on the operation has been extremely difficult. I have been told that the surgery is particularly complicated and carries significant risks, and I am still trying to find the right specialist who is willing to take responsibility for such a difficult procedure.

While I am trying to deal with all of this, another terrible situation has arisen.

One of my 14-year-old dogs has been diagnosed with multiple mammary tumors. She now needs veterinary examinations, further tests, and surgery.

My dogs are not simply pets. They are my family. They have been beside me for 14 years, and during some of the darkest periods of my life, they were the ones who gave me a reason to keep going.

That is why asking for help now is so difficult for me.

I have never been someone who wanted to ask others for money. I have always tried to manage on my own, even when things were extremely hard. But this time, I have reached a point where I simply cannot do it alone anymore.

I am no longer able to cover my basic household expenses while also dealing with my own medical problems and the veterinary care my dog urgently needs.

I have no savings and no family member or partner who can help me financially.

The amount of pain and stress I have experienced over the years has also taken a serious emotional toll. I struggle with depression and panic attacks, and lately I have felt overwhelmed by everything that is happening at once.

I am writing this with my heart in my hands because I genuinely need help.

Any contribution, no matter how small, would mean an enormous amount to me. It would help me pay urgent household expenses, continue seeking the medical care I need, and, most importantly, give my dog the chance to receive the examinations and treatment she needs.

If you are not able to donate, sharing my story would also mean so much to me. Even helping this reach another person could make a difference.

I am not asking for something I simply want.

I am asking because, right now, I truly need help.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who takes the time to read my story, to anyone who is able to help, and to anyone who chooses to share it.

Thank you.

Help me recive Crt device

Get a Life-Saving CRT Implant to Overcome Heart & Kidney Failure

Dear Friends, Family, and Community,

If you’ve seen a heart failure medication commercial on TV, I’m basically on it. I take over 12 different medications every day just to keep my heart pumping.

Two years ago, at age 38, my life was completely turned upside down when I was diagnosed with congestive heart failure—with an Ejection Fraction (EF) of just 20 to 25%—and pulmonary embolisms. Because of my condition, I became completely disabled. However, due to missed work credits during the pandemic, I only qualified for SSI, leaving me to survive on just $665 a month. It has been a rough, grueling two years.

The New Challenge: Kidney Failure & The CRT Solution

Two weeks ago, I was back in the hospital. The doctors broke the news that my kidneys are now beginning to fail—a direct side effect of the high volume of heart medications required to keep me alive. I am stuck in a catch-22: I need the meds for my heart, but the meds are hurting my kidneys.

There is a way forward. Extensive research and medical consultation point to a device called a Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy (CRT) implant.

Up to 75% of patients who receive a CRT device improve by two full heart failure stages.

Crucially, this device helps many patients significantly reduce their daily medications, protecting my kidneys and giving my body a real chance to heal.

Why I Am Asking For Your Help

If I get this device, my goal is clear: I want my life back. I want to regain my physical strength, get off SSI, and go back to work.

Unfortunately, my insurance has denied coverage for the implant, leaving me with an impossible wall to climb. I am trying to raise $50,000 to directly cover the cost of the CRT device and the life-changing operation to place it.

Asking for money is not something I ever wanted to do, but this implant is my bridge to survival and independence. My cash app is $adrew2966

40YO Diagnosed with Heart Disease

I am a 40 yo female who went in to hospital to find out that I have Cardiac Sarcoidosis.

The disease is predominantly found with sudden cardiac death and less so when alive.

Since I’ve been off, my workplace has told me I just have to try and survive on what little money I have left. No help offered. HR actually asked if I could work from hospital.

My partner visited me today like every day and their car was hit causing damage. So now we have to fix that with next to no cash.

I don’t know what else to do. In order to survive our bills we will need about $15,000 minimum or we’ll lose our house.

I never thought I’d be here.

Any help would be amazing. I am so tired of crying and trying to work out how I will live.

Hospice Nurse could use a hand

Let me tell you, sudden medical bills can take out anyone, including medical professionals.

Award winning, “friendliest nurse” working with end of life patients and their families every day. Recently got a positive cancer diagnosis and need to take time off work for surgery and recovery. I just switched companies late last year, and thus, I am not eligible for FMLA. And in NYC, disability pays a measley $170 a week. That’s right, look it up! The amount has not been updated since 1983. You read that right, over 40 years ago.  As you can imagine, that can’t cover anyone’s rent let alone bills or groceries.

Having recently gotten divorced (it’s been a hell of a year), I’m languishing in my tiny studio, mining the Internet for any ideas since I’m unable to work.

Happy to share medical forms, disability paperwork, heck even nursing and hospice knowledge!

If you’ve ever been impacted by a kind nurse, please consider helping me (or another nurse), as we try to stay afloat too. Many thanks for your kindness and caring.

Life Shattered Forever

Hi, I am a disabled stay-at-home mom who takes care of my 22-year-old son, who is autistic. Our rock, my husband, was recently diagnosed with Stage IV Small Intestine Metastatic Cancer. After not feeling well for a couple of years and being diagnosed with Chronic COPD, we went to several Doctors for different problems that kept recurring. Nothing was ever found to be wrong, even though several tests had been done. After 2 years of going to different specialists and missing a lot of work, we had to go to the ER one night because he was in a lot of pain, having difficulty breathing, and couldn’t eat without vomiting. Once we were there, they ran several tests, X-rays, bloodwork, and finally a CT scan. When the Doctor came back in, he told us they were transferring us to a different hospital because they had found several lesions in his lungs, liver, and spleen. There was also an obstruction in his lower intestines. That’s when everything started to crash around us. We didn’t know exactly what was going on, but we knew what it was leading to. We never could have imagined it would be so bad.

Once he was admitted to the hospital, they did biopsies and other tests. The main problem they were concerned with was the obstruction in his small intestines. They were waiting for test results before doing surgery. We were in the hospital for a week before all the results came back. At that time, surgery was decided against because the obstruction in his small intestines was a tumor. The other lesions in his liver, lungs, and spleen were all cancerous. The tumor in his intestines was metastatic and had gone to his liver and into his bloodstream. By being in his bloodstream, the cancer spread to his lungs and spleen. It is inoperable because it’s in his bloodstream, meaning it will just spread to other places in his body. He is now receiving chemo to try to shrink the cancer cells and slow down the progression.

We are seeking help for medical bills, alternative treatments, and everyday bills. My husband has worked for the state for 30 years and is not quite eligible for full retirement. Because of the nature of the job, he can’t go back to work either because of the chemo. We don’t know how much longer he has, but we are hoping that by finding an alternative treatment, it can prolong his life for many years to come. We have been together for 25 years and have 4 wonderful children and 3 grandchildren. He is my world, my everything, my love, and my life. Any help is deeply appreciated.

Thank you for your time,

Jamie

Trouble breathing

Hi everyone!

In the last few months I have been having trouble breathing. I can’t walk upstairs to brush my teeth without stopping to catch my breath. I am a cook and had to leave my job because of this. On my last day I was having trouble breathing, my legs felt like they were going to give out and I got sick. I went to the emergency room.  I have been there twice. I am currently seeing a pulmonary doctor and a cardiologist to figure out what is wrong.  I have to wait for insurance approval for a ct chest scan for lung cancer and an echocardiogram. In the meantime I can’t work.  I am looking for an office job but so far with my work history I haven’t had any luck. I would truly appreciate any help you can provide. I need about $5000 to get through the next few months. So when they figure out what is wrong and I get back to work and pay it forward.  Thank you!

Single dad recovering from vicious attack

Thomas’s life changed forever after he was violently assaulted and attacked by the assailants’ dogs, suffering multiple severe bite wounds to his left leg. What began as a traumatic attack quickly turned into a medical nightmare.

His wounds did not heal properly and developed several serious infections. Despite making four separate emergency room visits, Thomas’s condition continued to worsen before he finally received the emergency treatment he desperately needed. Doctors discovered black, dead tissue surrounding the wound and signs of gangrene beginning to develop. He underwent painful procedures to remove the damaged tissue and required a wound vacuum (wound vac) to help save his leg and fight the infection.

Today, Thomas continues to suffer from severe nerve damage, chronic pain, limited mobility, and ongoing complications from the attack. He now attends treatment and physical therapy for pain management and strengthening while facing the heartbreaking reality that he may never walk the same again.

Even through the pain, fear, and uncertainty, Thomas keeps pushing forward for one reason — his 8-month-old son, Alarick.

Thomas’s greatest goal is simply to be the father his son deserves. He wants to be able to pick up his baby boy, play with him, provide for him, and continue raising him despite this devastating setback. Alarick is Thomas’s motivation every single day to keep fighting.

Unfortunately, this tragedy has destroyed the financial stability Thomas worked so hard to build as a single father. Because of his injuries and ongoing treatment, he was placed on a leave of absence without pay and still has not been able to return to work. Over the last two months, he has exhausted his savings just trying to survive and keep a roof over their heads.

Thomas is now facing:

• Over $8,000 in medical bills not covered by insurance

• Falling behind on rent and utilities

• Ongoing treatment and physical therapy expenses

• The daily costs of caring for his infant son, including food, diapers, clothing, and other essentials

No father deserves to live with the fear of being unable to provide for his child because of a disability caused by a violent attack. Thomas fought hard to be present in his son’s life, and now he is fighting just as hard to recover and stand tall again for Alarick.

Any donation, no matter how small, will directly help Thomas and his son stay afloat during this incredibly difficult chapter. If you are unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser and keeping them in your thoughts and prayers would mean more than words can express.

Please help Thomas get back on his feet so he can continue being the loving and dedicated father his amazing baby boy deserves.

ESRD/Dialysis Warrior Needing Help Please!

Hello, I am a 37 year old single mother of 2. I was born with one kidney and at the age of 28, it failed and I was placed on dialysis for 3-4 days a week for nearly 5 hours. Due to treatments taking up 80% of my time, I am unable to work so I have to try and support my children and myself on a very minimal fixed income. I am asking for help with paying for my medicine and my medical bills. This would help take a huge stress off my children and myself and hopefully with your donations, I’ll have a little bit of extra money from my monthly income to get my children new clothes and shoes. Anything will help and be the biggest blessing not only for me but for my kids too. Thank you and God bless.

Help Bridging Medical Debt and Recovery After Injury

I am writing this with intention and honesty, not from a place of helplessness, but from a place of accountability and effort. Over the past few years, I have navigated a series of significant challenges while continuing to work, care for my children, and build stability in my life.

I am a single mother with no financial support, responsible for both the emotional and financial well-being of my children. During this time, I made the difficult but necessary decision to leave an unsafe living situation and purchase a home to create a stable and secure environment for my family. While this was the right decision, it came with substantial financial strain and ongoing responsibilities.

At the same time, I have faced unexpected medical expenses that have added up quickly. I experienced multiple dental issues, including crowns breaking, which required urgent and costly treatment. In addition, I suffered an ACL injury that required physical therapy and time away from work. Because my income is directly tied to my ability to work, this time off was unpaid, creating an immediate financial gap while medical expenses continued to accumulate.

Despite these setbacks, I have remained committed to moving forward responsibly. I have continued working, managing my household, and prioritizing my children’s needs. I have not stopped trying to improve my situation, reduce expenses, and regain financial footing. However, the combination of medical bills, recovery time, and the costs associated with maintaining a household on a single income has made it difficult to fully catch up.

I am not asking for help to avoid responsibility. I am asking for support to help bridge a difficult period so I can continue building stability. Any assistance would go directly toward outstanding medical bills and essential living expenses as I continue to recover financially and physically.

I understand that many people are facing their own challenges, and I do not take this request lightly. If you are able to contribute in any way, I am deeply grateful. If not, I still appreciate you taking the time to read my story.

Medical assistant

At only 4 years old, I was shot during the war in South Sudan. The bullet left permanent damage in my thigh, with metal still inside my leg and two large scars that remain open and painful.

For many years, I have lived with physical pain, especially during cold weather, and emotional pain from the scars I carry. Growing up, I struggled with confidence and often felt ashamed of my body.

I dream of having surgery to remove the metal and repair the damage so I can live without pain and finally feel confident in my own skin.

I am asking for any help possible toward medical treatment. Your kindness could help me heal from wounds caused in childhood and give me a fresh start.

Thank you for reading and supporting me.

Medical bills adding up!

Hello internet. I’ve come across some hard times. I am currently injured via a work incident. My thumb got smashed between 2 hard spot while at work a couple of weeks ago. Workers Comp is covering it and helping, it’s just slow and takes time. I’m going to be out 4 more weeks. Last week, my wife who is an independent contractor got injured. She dislocated her knee, so she can’t walk currently. I think her recovery could be a a month at quickest maybe 2 months. And now lastly, my son age 8 has had a tooth injury outside playing ball with other kids. He’s got great teeth, but the ball knocked his tooth out of position. He’s gonna need a corrective procedure which won’t be cheap to fix his. So we are a household of injured people. If anyone could help ue out, it would mean the world to us. The bills are stacking up between rent, car payments, utilities and more. We are going to add child care/tutoring because my son is gonna miss some school. if anyone donates $3K, as soon as I get WC check, I will definitely pay that person back.

Nino Needs Your Help

Hi,

Since the cat was around 3 to 4 months old, we took him from the streets and adopted him. We called him Nino, and we can proudly say that he has lived his entire happy cat life (9 years now) with us, and he has become like a family member mainly to me and my dad.

A month ago when I arrived home, I found him in an unusual place and not wanting to eat, which is strange because he rarely doesn’t accept food of almost any kind (really, one time we found him eating a piece of a watermelon). I didn’t think too much about it; however, the next day I decided to take it to the vet, as he still didn’t want to eat or drink water.

At the veterinarian’s, they performed the relevant tests and found a parasite and that he has cat HIV, but what shocked me is that we castrated him at a very young age, and after all these years they never found that he was suffering from this. And now I realize it is a possibility not to be detected for a long time, but after it gets sick, which is what is happening now for the first time.

This was a month ago, and I’m seeing that his condition hasn’t improved that much after giving all the medicine prescribed by the veterinarian.

After getting the parasite, he is now very weak and has lost a lot of weight, which breaks my heart seeing him in this condition.

Now, in about two or three days I need to take him back to the veterinarian and most likely buy some more medicine for him to have an appetite and improve his defenses and also buy antibiotics.

The issue is that I’ve lost my job due to all the controversy in New Jersey (I work remotely as a freelancer). Although I find some work here and there, things are getting pretty tough; even my dad has started working once again at 70 years of age. As a freelancer, sometimes the gigs are not as frequent as I’d like them to be. This is why I’m taking some courses and learning new skills to improve my income capability and, hence, be more financially stable.

Among the things that I want is to get financially stable enough so my dad doesn’t have to work anymore and I can cover all the expenses, and the urgency for us at this moment is that we are able to pay all the bills, including our beloved Nino’s medical bills too.

This is like my last resource, and I’ll pray for some kindhearted people that can support us this time! I also will pray that God repay you tenfold!

Thank you!!
