• I have been with the same man for 31 years, married 21. I have always been a supportive wife. It hasn’t been all that good for us the past 10 years. Recently, I finally had to admit him to a treatment center for alcoholism. He was there for 45 days. He came out sober and excited about life again. However, that life didn’t include me. He met another girl there, 16 years his junior that is also an addict. He moved out and moved her in at his new condo after knowing her for 3 months. Left me here with our mortgage and other debts. We are in the process of divorce, and he was ordered to pay me monthly. He did not want to do that. So, he lost his job purposely out of spite and is not helping me with any of our debt. I have done all I can now for 7 months alone, with lawyer fees and my other debt I have spent all I have. I only work 32 hours a week due to having Systemic Lupus. It’s a very debilitating disease that I struggle with daily. Extreme fatigue, muscle and joint pain throughout my body, and it attacks my organs. I have acute kidney failure, had pancreatitis multiple times and just recently found out I have pulmonary fibrosis. I also have severe raynauds syndrome that caused me to have multiple finger amputations. I do all I can to get by and survive, but I’m afraid to lose it all because he refuses to help me. I have two bloodhounds that I adopted a year ago. I spend a lot of money on them to give them the best life and food I can. They mean the world to me and they are large dogs that eat a lot lol. They have helped me get through all of this and I just want to keep my home with my dogs. I’m stuck right now because I can’t sell anything, I can’t refinance or make any changes until this divorce is final. I only have 4 years left on this mortgage.

Earlier this year our work had begun to dwindle and slow down due defective part from a supplier who was supplying us with some of the main parts that we needed to keep operations going so the my employer had laid me off due to a lack of work.  But then when the work had started picking back up that’s when there was a fatal incident that happened on August 1, 2024 where a fellow employee and close friend lost his life due to an accident that occurred resulting in the factory’s production being shutdown due to the order of OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administraion), who, along with local authourities, is currently investigating the matter, which resulted in the slowdown or shutdown of production until the investigation concludes.  Anyone wanting the latest news update on the tragic incident that happened at Hitachi Energy on August 1st 2024 can simply google and search for it online. I tell you, it was a very sad and tragic day for all of our Hitachi Energy family.

Kathy’s parents struggled with finances throughout their lives, which left them in a precarious situation. Kathy was not allowed to work for years because she needed to be home to care for her parents, who were both heavily disabled. Unfortunately, her mother, Dina, never received the Social Security or government assistance she desperately needed, leading to severe financial strain. In a desperate attempt to keep up with medical bills and basic living expenses, her parents were forced to remortgage their home three times. Despite these efforts, they were unable to pay off the mortgage, leaving Kathy with the debt after their passing.

Kathy’s mother passed away in 2011, and her father, Terry, a Vietnam veteran who served on the USS Coral Sea, passed away in 2021. The home, built in the 1980s, remains part of Terry’s estate and still has over $63,000 left on the mortgage, despite the three remortgages. When Terry passed, Kathy inherited this debt along with the house. For a time, our only source of income was my Discover credit card. Kathy eventually found a job at a gas station, where she worked incredibly hard and was promoted to lead manager. Her dedication and strong work ethic earned her the respect of her coworkers and provided us with some much-needed financial stability.

However, our home is in desperate need of repair. The roof needs to be completely replaced, and both our front and back yards are severely overgrown. The plumbing is outdated and requires significant work. While our swamp cooler is still functional, it is in poor condition and barely does its job. Our garage door no longer works, and our windows are old and inefficient, leading to high energy costs. In addition to these issues, we are dealing with a pest problem, and our floors need to be replaced. The house itself requires new paint, if not entirely new siding. On top of all these home repairs, our vehicle also needs maintenance.

The financial burden of these necessary repairs is overwhelming for us, and we simply cannot afford to address them on our own. We are trying our best to maintain the home, but the reality is that we are falling further behind, and the condition of our house is deteriorating rapidly. I’m the sole financial provider for my family- two high needs autistic toddler boys, and a third baby girl on the way! All three children will be under the age of 5.

Currently living in Southern California and I’m in over my head. I work a public sector government job and it’s still not enough to make monthly bills. I purchased a condo through a low-income housing program for first time buyers and now I’m so scared of losing that home.

My fiancé was hospitalized a few months ago in a serious car accident where we discovered that he’s epileptic. The car that I owned and paid off for years was totally destroyed and I did not have any insurance to cover it.

Even scarier was that my partner was on a ventilator and in a coma for 3 weeks and almost never had the chance to met his unborn daughter. He’s suffering from speech and motor affects from being oxygen deprived for 8 minutes before rescuitation. Being a Medic-Cal recipient has made it nearly impossible to get needed medical care or therapies for him including being able to apply for disability income so it’s just me providing everything for everyone.

Things have been extremely difficult being heavily pregnant and trying to keep the entire family afloat financially, physically, emotionally and trying to ensure that my kids get the best services to help them thrive…juggling work full time to not even make ends meet.

Desperately looking into alternative plans even if it’s moving out of state from the place that I absolutely adore and grew up in. We have visited Alaska before and have hopes that a beautiful outdoor landscape will at least provide everyone with joy in life!
