My daughters and myself have lived in our home since 2013. We rent, but this is our home. This is the longest in one home, ever. The house actually needs a lot of work, and because of that we only pay $700 a month.

Like everyone else, we have dealt with a lot of loss. Losing my mother in 2018, step father in 2019, and my father is 2020. Then they lost their paternal grandmother in 2021. We have been flat broke barely making ends meet. No matter what we have went through, or how bad things had got over the last 11 years … we had a roof over our heads. A place to call home. We’re so grateful. Some families do not even have that.

In 2020, our landlord sold the home to a company. That company then sold the house in August of 2023. My lease was to renew at the end of July. They sent it to me digitally to sign. I read through it. Everything was the same, therefore I signed it. Again, it was digital. I made the mistake of not printing it immediately. When I logged on a week later to print it, I noticed the top section now said month to month instead of the date. I checked the written section on lease duration and it still remained the same. It is still worded as a yearly lease, the terms. Upon contacting the company, they would not acknowledge the change after the fact. Instead she insisted that it was only month to month for the purpose of the sale. She assured that we would not have to move. Again, my mistake for trusting them and not getting it in writing. Fast forward 4 months, on December 19th, the new management company posted a notice on my front door saying we have 30 days to move. This was 6 days before Christmas, also the day before my birthday. When I contacted the company, I was told that it had nothing to do with us or anything that we’ve done, but the new owners want to do renovations. Where I live, January thru March are the coldest and most brutal months of the year. This is the hardest time to find a place, also to move in general. She said there was absolutely no exceptions to this and we have to leave. We pay the rent, every month on time. We take care of the property and are very considerate tenants.

I am in need of help buying a house. My credit is not great. I have managed to save some money for a down-payment, but with my credit and our income right now, we do not qualify for a mortgage. Rental prices are so high that we can not afford to rent. I am lost. I am trying to remain positive for my daughters, but I’m at a breaking point. I don’t know what to do. If anyone can help us, we would be so grateful. I’m not even sure what I am asking for to be honest. Someone in the Pittsburgh area with a rent to own home that will work with me. My husband passed away 5 years ago. Since then, everything has gone wrong with my house that is over 60 years. There is no central Air. And, because the walls are not insulated, the heat I get from my portable radiator does not keep my room warm for a long time after I turn it off. I cannot afford to keep it on all the time because during the winter months my electric is $300.00. That is a lot of money considering my house is only 740 square feet, with two bedrooms. During the other months I pay an average of $60 a month on electric bill.

Hello, my name is Shelby. I’m 31, and just cannot seem to catch a break. I’m working super hard 50+ hour work weeks, I live alone with five animals, and I just want to feel safe.

I went thru a divorce in 2020 where I went from two incomes to one. I moved in with a new significant other, and was cheated on, and again left from two incomes down to one. I have met a wonderful woman, got the job I applied for in 2013 and I moved into a house that I bought. This wonderful woman that I have met Blessed me with a great times and a great life. I said to her that she should have told me when I called her, she said to me that she didn’t want to bother me. I was a little upset, and made some calls to have these things fixed. We both felt better after these jobs were finished. I started going over there more often. One day I went over there and I saw a little smoke and was smelling something burning, when I opened the door, the house was smelling of something burning on the stove. She told me she fell asleep while cooking. A couple of weeks later, I moved back in with her because I believed she needs me there with her. One morning I woke up hearing her crying, I quickly went to her room and she told me that she couldn’t remember her prayers. I really felt bad for her. I took her to her doctor, and she diagnosed her with dementia. This has been very hard for me, working full time, cooking for me and my mom, taking her to church, and food shopping. I have no free time to talk with or visit my good friend and right now i believe I lost her. I went to see my mom Saturday to check on her and make her dinner coming from work. I picked her up to take her to church Sunday and now I know that I have and gave her covid. I took some time off and my job told me that I could come back even if I am positive as long as I wear a mask. I always wore 2 mask anyway. The situation I am in right now is I want to take care of my mother full time, make her breakfast, lunch and dinner. Take her for walks, maybe the gym, sit and talk with her. She is 85. Greetings Reader, I appreciate you taking the time to read this note. I am a retired Army veteran and have gotten behind on my mortgage due to the inflation of several bills. Recently, my insurances, electricity, and interest rates have gone up appreciably. The insurance on my house has gone up about 30%. My electricity contract expired and I had to get a new one. The transition has raised my electric rate by 4 cents/per Kwh. That translates to almost $80 more each month. On top of these, my lease of my vehicle had matured and I had to return it. I had to buy a used vehicle and the payments for it are higher than my lease was.  As a retiree, my pay is not very much and it does not help that my ex-wife gets almost half of my retirement check. Everything always happens at once. Both my and my fiances car broke down the same week and needed $6000.00 together and repairs together.
