Emergency Rental, Food, and Bills Assistance Programs

How to get help with rent?

At times, many families find themselves homeless, or unable to continue to occupy the premises of their choice. This may be due to fire, accident, storms or many other causes, but often it is merely a problem in paying the rent. Illness that forces a breadwinner to stay home, or loss of a job; any and all of these conditions can put a family in need of temporary assistance to tide itself over until the members of the family find themselves again in a position to pay their own rent without the need of subsidising or other rental assistance.

Agencies have been set up in many parts of the country to help in this regard. Non-profit organizations, these charities, such as The Salvation Army, as well as some governmental agencies are often able to offer emergency rental assistance for families who are being evicted by a landlord, or who simply have no way to pay their rent at the moment. Realizing that landlords, despite the old cartoon imagery of a rich greedy person feeding off the work of renters, the vast majority of landlords are not really making a profit at all on the current tenant. This is only a stopgap so that the landlord may pay the monthly house payments in the hope of some future profit if housing increases in value some years later. If the tenant can’t pay the rent, the landlord may soon find himself in the same position with regard to the lender. Lenders do not want to hear sad stories.

Although these different programs for rental assistance may be available, much depends upon the funding at the moment. Some programs quickly run out of money and are simply unable at the moment to provide further help to persons in need of assistance.

The vast majority of families in need of temporary rental assistance are those to be found in the low-income range; seniors, disable persons and children are among those most often affected. Others too, faced at one point or another with a temporary emergency may qualify for assistance in these cases.

In most cases, those in need of longer-term assistance, persons who have not been gainfully employed for a considerable length of time with not prospects for the immediate future may not qualify for rental assistance under these temporary emergency programs.

Those more likely to receive aid are persons who are able to convince interviewers of their willingness to do what is necessary to get back on their feet along with the ability to do so. Since emergency funding is considered a short-term “fix” for a crisis situation, the grants may be only issued for a few days, perhaps to defray the cost of a motel room, pending the applicant’s ability to find other lodgings.

Therefore it is important, in most similar cases, for the applicant to show the interviewer the imminent possibility to become self-sufficient.

Most non-profit agencies as well as other agencies attempt to work closely with rental assistance applicants to help them with any additional support as needed depending upon each applicant’s situation. Often applicants are further given counseling and referrals to other agencies that may be more helpful to an applicant.

In such cases, any additional services rendered are free to the applicant in crisis. This may include lack of employment and such other problems that may arise such as medical emergencies. Most agencies participate in these endeavors as well as teaching applicants the processes involved in applying for governmental programs, immediate rehousing and how to apply for Section 8 vouchers as well as information about low income housing, and assistance in paying the security deposits that are almost universally demanded by today’s rental market.

Since the goal of all similar agencies to to render aid to persons in immediate need of emergency housing and other crisis situations, the funds issued to applicants for rent or other necessities is only meant to allow the applicant extra time to deal with the emergency. However, at the same time, applicants will normally be provided with support in the long term to guard against similar future emergencies.

If you have an eviction notice or expect to be unable to pay the rent in the immediate future, or even realize that you need to find less expensive living quarters, now is the time to apply for assistance. Often with early application, money may be available to catch up unpaid rent as well as other options that may be explained to you.

Assistance may also be available to help with the security deposit, the initial rents and even moving costs. In some cities non-profit agencies may offer other emergency assistance to those in crisis. These funds are normally paid out on a one-time basis. Depending upon the location, resources that may be in place for housing crisis families can be wide-ranging.

Potential applicants are advised to find the telephone numbers as well as any other information available to them and educate themselves about the different programs that may be able to help with emergency assistance.

Not only non-profit private agencies, but many governmental agencies, are able to provide interim assistance, depending on the locality. Massachusetts has a program called RAFT, while in Texas a rental assistance program called TDHCA is available. Florida has a similar program called EFAHP and in Connecticut their program is called RAP. Many other government programs around the country also offer assistance to pay rent or a portion of overdue rent in their ongoing efforts to reduce the growing threat of homelessness in their particular communities.

Another program, called the Federal Stimulus Program is a little-known program through which our federal government provides billions of dollars across the nation to provide rental assistance for qualified applicants. These funds have become invaluable to families that find it increasingly difficult to keep up with the rising costs of rent and other housing needs.

HUD the Housing and Urban Development, agency works throughout the country as well. A number of families approaching two million are able to use this program, a program that can not only help those in need to pay their rent and/or security deposits, but HUD can issue vouchers to provide temporary housing as well as providing assistance to senior citizens and the disabled to keep up with overdue rental payments.

These programs not only offer grants to help pay rent, but the government Rent Voucher Program aids applicants to seek housing in the privately owned housing market.

These agencies can, generally, offer legal advice to those facing eviction. Every year millions of people receive free legal advice and assistance to educate them with the eviction process and their rights as well as responsibilities. The government provides funded Legal Services Corp. which provides attorneys who may mediate a solution between landlord and tenants in addition to advising tenants of their rights as well as help them apply for Section 8 or other assistance and another positive aid they offer is help and counseling on housing discrimination.

Counseling may also be provided to help applicants apply for government and/or private grants. Money is available for many of these crisis situations.

It is the goal of these agencies to prevent evictions wherever possible. The federal government as well as the many non-profit private agencies strive wherever possible to help applicants remain in their current quarters without the fear of being summarily evicted. Often these agencies are able not only to prevent evictions, but subsequent lawsuits that may be brought against a tenant. Alternatively, the agency may be able to find more suitable and affordable housing for an applicant facing eviction.

Many churches too offer funds that can help those in short-term financial difficulties. United Way and The Salvation Army are only two of the better-known charitable institutions that may be able to offer help when needed. Generally they give priority to those living in apartments and facing short-term financial crises.

A good number of other national and local charities are ready to help with the expenses of rent and other essential needs as well as providing case management and many other social services. No all charities have ready money all the time, but even those may be able to help by helping an applicant with information about other resources and assistance in applying for free grants to pay overdue rent.

Other agencies that often provide help might be, for example, Catholic Charities, Social Service Offices, United Way, the American Red Cross, the Legal Aid Society and as mentioned earlier, The Salvation Army. Aside from these examples there exist many other emergency aid agencies for those who are able to become informed.

While most of these programs provide only short-term emergency aid, they are designed for the most part to tide a family over until a longer-term solution becomes available. Often these same agencies will be able to direct qualified applicants to resources that may assist them in finding an apartment or house for more permanent security.

It is important however, during these times of crisis, to keep in touch with creditors and the applicant’s current landlord so they understand what you are doing and what you expect to accomplishment. It is important that the applicant be extremely honest with everyone about the situation and it may sometimes be possible to have monthly payments temporarily lowered, or even be allowed to skip a monthly rental payment. Other plans may be devised and put into place to avoid being evicted.

It is well-understood that not only landlords but other creditors too are much more willing to cooperate with persons who are up-front with them, honest in their discussions and show a willingness to cooperate and do whatever they can to improve with situations.

How to get help with bills?

Ask The Energy Company

if energy bills are the source of the hardship, then the energy providers’ own in-house programs are often the quickest way to help rearrange and meet repayments.

LIHEAP: Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program

This national program’s focus is on subsidies for repairs, weatherproofing and utility bills that families cannot afford to pay.

LIHEAP covers any energy related home repairs for low-icome families, including seasonal expenses like air cooling systems and winter heating bills. The local LIHEAP office is the first point of contact for those in need of energy or utility assistance. Eligibility varies from state to state.

WAP: Weatherization Assistance Program

The WAP is a federal grant organized by the Department of Energy that helps needy families improve their homes’ energy efficiency, and has assisted over 7 million households across many states, territories and Native American tribes since its inception in 1976.

According to the DOE guidelines, a household with anyone over 60 is eligible for the WAP, as are legally recognized disabled people. Most states make families with children eligible, and the website for the WAPTAC (Weatherization Assistance Program Technical Assistance Center) can advise others if the grants are available in their area, and whether they qualify.

LifeLine Assistance: Free Cell Phones

Americans in need of a cell phone plan but without the means to maintain one can get assistance from LifeLine Assistance‘s free phone program. This is indeed a lifeline as daily life and business in particular is practically impossible without a mobile phone.

LLA is an FCC mandated scheme offering a free cell phone with at least 250 monthly minutes included. It’s available in the 49 states, Washington DC and Puerto Rico, and typically requires a household income below 135% of Federal Poverty guidelines. For some states it is below 150%. Eligibility varies across participating states, with slightly different rules around qualifying income.

Other sources of help are available at state government level, or many national and local non-profit and charity organizations, and the energy companies themselves.

How to get Food For Free?

It doesn’t always require money to eat, and there are many ways to gain free food without adding to your debts or joining the 10% of Americans who have resorted to shoplifting. Ask people you know, or traders and restaurant and store owners.

Above all it’s important to explain why you are asking for food: because you can’t afford to eat. And not to be critical about what food you eat. Without a certain amount of money, there is no longer the choice of what to eat. So meat may become harder to get or if meat’s all that’s on offer and you are a vegetarian, it’s best to accept it with thanks.

Grow Your Own, Share With The Community

The most sustainable – and satisfying – way to provide free food for yourself is to grow it, and you can start with just seeds if you live in the country or with just a small space in the city. Guerrilla gardening is an interesting urban option, more organised community gardens and allotments can share space and expertise for growing, and seed swapping communities among gardeners are a good source of materials and encouragement.

Ask A Farmer

Out in the sticks there won’t be the option of stores and restaurants as a source of food, but ask any farmer and there’ll be some left on the fields that they didn’t or can’t sell. Many will let you pick these leftovers.

Food Banks

A rapidly growing movement in the United Kingdom and US is the organized and charitable distribution of food to those who can’t afford it. Most of the food is donated, and food banks are one of the easiest ways to obtain some nutritious food. Many banks have conditions for who they can give food to, but there is no need to be ashamed about visiting one.

Links to Food Banks in various countries

United States /United Kingdom /Austalia /Canada /Ireland /New Zealand /South Africa

Offers and coupons

Online and direct from the stores, many coupons are available to promote new products. And companies across the United States send out free samples of new products. They’re unlikely to provide a healthy, balanced diet on their own but could supplement free food from other sources.

Waste Food

In an affluent country there is an abundance of unsold or waste food, and a little social interaction and resourcefulness can unlock access to a surprising amount of it.

Ask at the market

Often around closing time, stall holders will sell off any remaining stock for next to nothing, and it’s always worth telling them you have no money and asking if they’ll give you something for free. You can often pick up some fruit or salad, and if they can’t offer anything, thank them anyway and ask at another stall.

Free Supermarket Food

Ask at the big stores and you’ll be too far down the chain of command: “My boss doesn’t allow us to do that” will be the usual answer. So smaller supermarkets and neighborhood stores are a better option, where you can talk to that boss. You may find warmth and generosity among Muslims and immigrants to the West who run stores.

Restaurant Leftovers

It requires some patience, a little nerve and a bit of practice, but it’s possible to get free, professionally prepared food, even a table to sit and eat it at. Restaurant districts in cities are obviously the best place to try this, and expect a success rate around 5%, so it requires persistence, but will sharpen your bargaining skills, and who knows where else that could lead?

Turn up at a restaurant after the busiest time but not too late, and explain that you have no money and ask if they have some left overs in the kitchen. It can help to have a container such as a plastic box ready in case they do have something, and if they’re friendly and can’t offer anything the first time, maybe they can put something aside the next day.

Searching and Foraging

It grows on trees, on the ground and some seasons there’ll be abundant fruit and tasty plants such as dandelions or chickweed. Even cities can produce some tasty wild food, and anyone near downtown Seattle has access to America’s first Food Forest in a major city.

Dumpster Diving

Growing media coverage of the colossal food wastage at supermarkets and restaurants has made it much less weird, and more popular, to search through the dumpsters in search of some quality food to turn into a meal.

Help with rent/food/baby products/car troubles!!

Hello, everyone. Please take the time to hear me out!

I am 18 years old and I am a high school graduate, I am currently unemployed which is really kicking my butt. My boyfriend and I moved into our own little apartment, which is great because it is our own.. I’m still figuring out how to go about budgeting; my boyfriend works but he doesn’t make much. Our rent is $700 a month and I am pregnant so I don’t know how to go about getting a job while I’m pregnant? I’m 26 weeks and I want what is best for our baby girl so I try not to strain myself too much. I find little side jobs to do, like baby sitting and cleaning houses, but it doesn’t help nearly as much as we need. With all of our bills it causes a big stress on both of us.. Our car recently broke down and we had to get it towed to an auto shop which really burned a hole in our already burnt pocket. In response – were late on rent this month, and thank God we managed to get the money eventually. We get food stamps but they hardly help, and any cent you can spare would help us. Please consider helping a young couple out who are expecting a baby girl in April; we don’t plan to always be in the spot we are, but life can be so unexpected. Also!! We are trying to save up to move into a better apartment, the one we are currently living at we settled for because we needed renting history… The roof leaks and the space is too small for when we get our baby girl…!
We want to start saving up to get a crib and baby clothes; so far we have went to a program to get a few outfits for her, but we would be forever grateful to receive any help you would be willing to give. Thank you. God bless!!

Looking to the Heavens

The only thoughts running through my head as I sit here are realizations about how this is where my life really is. I am actually posting to a site called Begging Money, asking for donations from people I have never interacted with before because I am in that much trouble. It doesn’t feel good and I’m not really comfortable putting myself out here this way. I have always tried to keep my margins tight and in order. I have always had an escape plan for a”just in case”moment. I have always tried to pay attention to details and make adjustments as needed. I had plotted my trajectory and had reached several designated way points. I really thought I was on course and doing the right things to keep me and my family on track. Now? Here I am. Exposed, nervous, deflated and skinny. Wondering if I’m making the right choice here, wondering if this site is even real and worried that I might get scammed or have to deal with someone trying. Or and even worse someone that I know seeing this post and putting two and two together and saying to themselves, “that’s why you haven’t been around of late”, “that’s why when I ran into you in town were withdrawn and evasive”. Yes, those few sentences sound a bit crazy, even to me in my current mental state as I reread this. I doubt anyone I know even knows about this site. Or, gosh, maybe they do? I myself only learned of this site yesterday and I have decided to reach out regardless of the outcome with hope, because a year ago this month, the idea that I would lose a job I absolutely enjoyed, lose the love of my life, lose my all of security and become homeless. And, while watching my life turn for the surreal, my mother decides it’s time she release some information she has been holding tight to her chest because it’s has been bothering her for years. (My whole life) “You and your brother do not share fathers”.  At that very moment, I felt my soul leave my body. The one person I trusted more than anyone or anything on this planet has lied to me my entire life. “Um, I’m not really feeling like I am in a particularly good place to process this; given what I just told you”.

There is no air…

August 2017, some friends of my partners came to visit from Germany and stayed at the Inn I was running, located in a beautiful small. It was a project I had been working for several years and was proud of what I accomplished over that time. It showed and our visitors from Germany loved it. Over the course of their stay they reveled that they were interested in relocating from Germany to the United Sates and that had decided that they liked the area and want to move here. They became interested in purchasing the Inn and restaurant associated with the property when I mentioned the current owner was looking to get out of the business. It was exciting for me because I was going to help the owner transition out and I was going to help the people from Germany realize a dream of theirs, owning business such as this in a beautiful small town. My part, I was going to get to continue with a project that I had truly fallen in love with. I connected the two parties and they off to the races.

January 2018, serious negotiations began for the property. My services were being negotiated for in the asking price.

This is where everything went wrong. This is where I made my mistake and ruined my life.

Being that my partner was with friends folks from Germany and I become one to them as well. And due the general excitement that goes along with a moment like that. When I was asked by the Germans if I would be willing to leave my position for a short period during the negotiations in hopes that the owner would back off the price a little. Then return after the sale to resume my work. At first I was not at all comfortable with the idea. I didn’t really know theses people. I also didn’t like the underhanded quality of it. After being assured by both my partner in the trustworthiness I these people and the actual people themselves in the fact they would without a question hire me back and we would start working together, I left my position awaiting the sale of the property.

I trusted and put my faith into the wrong people.

When the folks from Germany returned to take over the business, I was informed through my partner, that I was not to be hired back unless I was willing to earn half as much as I under with the previous owner.

I was obviously extremely upset and agitated. This is the United States of America, money is important. You can’t just put somebody in this position and jeopardize their livelihood. I tried to resolve the problem but it only created more things never recovered. The ordeal eventually contaminated the relationship with my partner when she sided with the folks from Germany, stating I should just get over it and find another job. I felt betrayed and marginalized. My trust was violated and my relationship ended as a result. I had been staying with my partner while the business transitioned with the intent to return to the inn after the sales. After the separation, I was asked to leave her home immediately, last August. I had burned through a lot my savings waiting for the business to change hands and finding another location with so little warning put a lot pressure on my reaming resources. I was able to transition well enough but I was having a lot of trouble finding work with the compensation needed to support my world. Regardless, I took what I could find because it’s what needed to be done. The numbers never worked. I was slowly burning through everything. I have a son in college, car payments, bills associated with the occupation of a residents and I was paying rent that was substantially more the my current salary could support.

5 months later, I had to move all of belongings into storage and I started sleeping on a couch in my friends basement. Normally I would rely on family during a time like this I suppose. With the news that I was the product of a one night stand a rift was formed and I had no where else to go. I was trying to be grateful. I kept telling myself that are people a lot worse of than I am. But, I didn’t handle this transition well. When my son came to visit me and I saw the look on his face when he saw where I am staying and sleeping, it was more than I could take. I became extremely depressed which effected everything in my life. Trying maintain in the face of this adversity I decided to try antidepressants which only resulted in me having extremely bad reaction the medication. I ended up needing care, missing time at work and losing my job.

In the span of one year I have lost everything and have been pushed to my emotional limits. It makes me realize how just a few subtle events, seemingly harmless at their passing, can change the course of your entire life.

Now, in 2019, I am looking for a event to change my life. A guiding light. I am asking for help from anyone who may read this and have some understanding of what I am going through. Some compassion and sympathy for my situation.

If I could get back on my feet, back in a proper dwelling I know I can over come this adversity, I just need someone to believe in me. Someone who is willing to give me a boost so I can get started again. Alone, I fear I will never recover. It is a mathematical impossibility. Too much damage has already been inflicted.

Please, if anything is willing to help me on this journey you will have my eternal gratitude. Any donation will help me get back on my feet put me in direction of having a home again.

This soul needs a beacon of light and love. A path back.

Love those around you and show them how important they are to you.

Thank you

Family Emergency

Hello there.

I am the oldest sibling of seven, and as of currently our lives have hit a snag. My dad works as a roofer with past experience at asbestos jobs and radio towers which normally suffice to keep a roof over our heads. A few days ago, he was sent to the hospital due to his swollen leg which left us with no choice but to let him receive surgery for it. Keep in mind his leg has needed surgery for a LONG time, he’s just been wearing a brace, icing it, and telling everyone he’s fine so that he can continue to work. The surgery will most likely put him out of commission for three months at the most, and that’s what he’s been trying to avoid. My mom used to write articles at home as a mommy blogger, but her supervisor released her just last year when she was pregnant and couldn’t get her articles sent in time. Even now she has a difficult time trying to find companies who will take her in. She’s worked under the same supervisor for years and made more than my dad would, so without this crutch, it’s really been hard on us.

In a few days, our landlord is requesting the money for the rent which on average is $750 per month. We’ve been able to knock down the payment due to us pitching in to fix things that are broken in the house for him (ie: there was a large pothole in the driveway that we cemented) to $450, but it’s still not enough to get us by.

No one is obligated to do this, but my family and I would appreciate any and all donations. My mom and I are trying to find any quick and direct jobs and scrape pennies at the moment to keep us all together.

Thank you for reading.

Need emergency money to pay heating bill

Hi, I’m a mother of three, my oldest is 17 years old,  my middle child is 10 years old,  and my youngest is 6 years.  My youngest my boy has autism spectrum disorder  or ASD. I’m looking to get help with paying my natural gas bill. This bill has been passed due for a while , it’s been disconnected since June of 2018. I thought I would have the money to pay, but I just could never make enough  to cover  the bill.  At the time  the bill was $559.66.  But because it’s been disconnected for so long they’ve also added  reconnection fees  and security deposit, which now brings my total to $893.61. I’ve been trying to get help from agencies all summer, but most of these agencies told me that because it was summer time and no longer cold that they won’t be able to help me until the winter time . So yesterday  I went back to  an agency to try to get help with paying the bill  and I was told that because the bill was too old that they won’t be able to help me pay. I really don’t know where else to go. My family doesn’t live in the same city as I do  and frankly they don’t even know I’m going through this situation right now.  Today I travel to pawn shops to try to  find a decent heating unit to help heat my home  but the ones that I brought  haven’t really been able to warm up the house. It’s just getting colder. Today  the temperature this morning was 23 degree  and in my house it was 59 degrees. I just can’t work many hours because of my son, he has to be in school  for a limited  amount of hours. I just can’t find a job to work around  his schedule right now. He has started  to finally receive  SSI  benefits , but the check  isn’t enough to cover the whole payment  this month  so I will have to pay the remainder in February. My kids are asking me why we can’t turn the heat on and I just don’t know what to tell them anymore. Today I’m hoping that someone will bless me with help on this.

You can donate to paypal.me/Sincni

Thanks so much for taking the time to listen to my story.

We Need Help

My name is Nathaniel, and I’m 18. My fiance, who I’ve known for 2 years, is a month away from being 17. I’ve been trying hard to save up money to not only live on my own in Indiana, where he lives, but be able to come back to Nevada afterwards.

We’re both trans men and he’s in an abusive household. We’ve called child services before but that didn’t help at all, and the lady who came to talk to him put someone else before him and chose not to speak with him before his mother.

We’ve instead decided I will move out there, he will move in with me on his 18th birthday until he finishes high school, then he’ll come back with me to where my own family is and we can move back in with my mother.

The problem is I have 8 months to save up as much money as I can before the summer, when I’m supposed to be moving out there. Not only is that not a lot of time, my father was abusive as well and when he finally disowned me legally he stole my social security card. My mother never got a new one, and when we went down there to get one we had no way to get it since my school id has my preferred name and not my birth name.

My mother decided we would change my name and gender marker first before getting a social security card with doctor records- which is fine, in my state it doesn’t take long to change it at all. But that’s still a month I’m unable to get a job and get money for.

At the moment, I have commissions open on Tumblr to make things for people, and have people to babysit for and do small things for to get some money, but it’s not nearly enough.

I will hopefully be able to get a job by at latest March, but again, that isn’t nearly enough time. I have sworn off buying anything for myself whatsoever to save up, and have $170 dollars.

We really need help. I found an apartment complex that’s $875 a month, that pays for everything else, is in a good part of town for him to be able to get to from school, and is all around perfect. He has a job too, but with school as well and buying clothes and food himself, plus not being able to send me any money without his mother knowing, there isn’t too much he can do but buy some things I commission and explain it away like that.

I did the math and the time I’m going to live there, I’ll need a little over $9,000 (with him buying groceries and me paying rent). That’s not to say I need $9,000 right now- I already have a place there that I will definitely be able to work at. I just need a start, enough to put down the deposit and pay for a few months of rent at /least/, plus groceries until he’s able to move in with me.

I have some family members who are giving money, but it’s not nearly enough.

This is the love of my life, and even if he wasn’t, he’s at least my best friend. And his situation is terrible. I worry about him and… Honestly I’ve been a little neglected myself to the point I have trouble doing much. It’ll be good for me too, to be out of the house for even 10 months.

Please.

My Landlord Robbed Me & Ripped Me Off, Now Trying To Evict Me

My name is Kayla.

November 14th 2018, I signed a contract for a new place for my 4yr old son and I. I’m a DV Survivor so it was important that I found a safe place tucked away and move in. November 17th did the exchange of keys and money. The landlord explained to me that her and her husband managed the building and gave me a walk through. She told me during the walk through that section 8 wouldn’t rent to her because there was a fire at the garage that was connected to the unit I just signed and paid for. This was a Saturday.

Fast forward to that Monday. November 19th (the day before my birthday) my son was with me that day at work because I knew I was would getting off later than normal. Maria (my landlord) had asked me out of “curiosity” what time I work. I told her mon-fri from 6 am to 2pm, this was in conversations before paperwork was signed and money was exchanged. November 19th I get home ALL OF MY BELONGINGS ARE GONE. My son asks “Mama, where my toys?” My heart shattered, blew up, sunk and everything else. I’m looking through the house like it’s a joke. No toiletries, no food, no water, no clothes! There’s no way all of our stuff is just gone?! I made sure this house was secure before I left to prevent this. I call police, officer was going to call me back. I call my landlord because after checking all points of entry there was no sign of anything forced. So I ask her as calmly as I could without crying my soul out, “Has anybody been in my unit today?”

”yes, I had my husband go and clean everything out.”

”Um, why didn’t I get a call or a notice?! I gave you no permission to enter my house! I’ve had keys for only 48 hours and you rob me!?”

She said they didn’t rob me everything was in the trash can. I had a homeless guy help me and he couldn’t find any of my stuff or anything that looked like my stuff. I still had tags on everything. My birthday outfit itself was over $200 my booty was $160 on sale. This was the day before my birthday. My birthday is November 20th and they did this to me a few hours before midnight. I’m more than devastated at this point. I felt so violated and unsafe WITH a baby. What if  I didn’t go to work that day and me and my baby were just relaxing in the house and this man whom I’ve never met before busts in my house with no notice or permission!? I’m beyond hurt and terrified.

She text me saying her and her husband can only spare $200 even though she knows it doesn’t cover everything I lost. I had just gave her over $1400 on November 17th to move in but she can only spare me $200.

My personal documents are gone. My IDs my socials for myself and my son our pictures, like how could you not know it was mine?! Didn’t even call me to ask me! I’m so hurt!

The garage never was fixed resulting in tickets where she said it was ok for me to park. My car was towed, so I have no means of transportation when I’m supposed to have access to my garage.

Because she stole all of my clothes I didn’t have anything to wear to work. Dress code is corporate attire at work and because she robbed me residual damage includes me getting fired for dress code violations.

Ive asked her about if the house was deeply cleaned because movers didn’t want to love my brand new furniture in because they said this place was never cleaned. Maria said she did have a deep clean. I sent her photos of roach feces all over the house smh. Dead bugs in lights of the kitchen and bathroom. I ended up having to hire my own cleaning crew and they themselves were disgusted that Maria gave me the unit like this.

I spoke with housing authority. I told them the problems I’m having with the unit I just moved into and they consider it UNINHABITABLE!!!! This woman ripped me off!

She is is not trying to help me by being empathetic to what she has caused me and my son at all. Instead she sends me emails and text messages threatening to evict me. When I already told her that I’m waiting for my unemployment but at the same time none of this would have ever happened if SHE DIDNT ROB ME!!!

Christmas was ruined along with my birthday and thanksgiving. Every lawyer I talk to wants money I don’t have just to see if I have a case. When they know by them entering my house without notice or permission is AGAINST THE LAW!

I need help and the only way I can get justice for my son and I is if we have the money to pay the experts for their service. Please help us. God bless.

I have to start my whole life over and I need money to sue this woman for everything she has since she set me up and now trying to throw my son and I out on the street instead of being a decent human being and help me.

$10,000 would be a great start. I have police event numbers and extra photos to share with anyone who wants to help me. If you know a lawyer I WOULD LOVE THEIR INFORMATION IF THEY CAN HELP ME.

Can’t do this any more

Hello there sir/madam I appreciate you reading this I will get straight into it right.

i am a 21 year old man with Aspergers and I’m unemployed as I am not fit for work this makes it difficult to try and support my self financially as I don’t get a lot of money this is a problem as my bills take all the money I have and sometimes more this is why I’m asking for £50,000 this will go alone way and make me debt free  as I am in debt of £25000 from bills this built up over a long time so I got a Iva so I can afford to pay my debts but it doesn’t stop the bills rolling in £50,000 would help me to pay off the Iva and the other half would go towards something I can make money like cloud mining bitcoin etc so I would get a some of bitcoin each month and exchange it to pay my bills I would also create a account with wleathify this is a company who makes a investment portfolio and managers it for you I would also do property investment like a hotel room or a office  their are companies who manage it for you and pay every month your profit so that’s what I would do with the money those 4 things pay of debt and those 3 investment ideas I just mentioned. how would the money change my life well first I would make me less stressed don’t worrying about money as I suffer from depression and anxiety because of my Aspergers which stops me doing thing I want to do but can’t this money would also help my mood and make me feel happy and I can start to get on with my life so I get eventually be independent and can cope on my own because at the minute I am always at home because I am scared to go outside I find it difficult to cope the money would help me relax a bit and gain trust with other human beings that not everyone is bad and evil I have been bullied through most of my school and college life and I really need some faith in society to make me realise that this will make a big difference to my life and the people around me who worry about me

many thanks Alex

READ ME I need just enough to hold it out

Hello everyone my name is Kevin, I would have to say my life the past few years has been torment since I haven’t been able to get a job and especially now that I am homeless and have been for the past 4 months.

I received my degree and had been looking for jobs related to my academic discipline for the past few years to essentially begin my career and build my life but I was never able to secure actual employment anywhere in my city area. I was doing more of freelance work, building a reputation and earning some small dollars. It never allowed me to take the next step in my life and build to truly providing for my self. Somehow I had a stroke of bad luck as I even started looking for basic level jobs (fast food, department stores, clerks, employment offices) that were not related to my degree, I was still denied in favor of someone else. Freelance was not the way to live but it was all could do to survive as the money was fast. Even at times though their were dry seasons where I could not get casual work to keep up with personal expenses. The local unemployment office took me as not being a big priority since I was younger than most and had a degree.

It wasn’t all that bad since I was living with my mom and she was most providing but she fell ill and ended up in a wheelchair. Unable to work herself since becoming handicap, she lost her home and because I was working freelance and couldn’t make enough to take care of the home expenses to keep it, I lost a home as well. I was denied to stay where my mother was being held and was turned down by my other family members to stay since I had a degree. I’ve essentially lost everything I had.

I have been pretty much on my own still trying to survive and looking for jobs on a daily basis to apply for. I have been getting by minimally using the public library or other community sources but recently coming in the new year getting freelance jobs and employment has been a challenge for me being that they are not consistent and are more of random offers. The biggest struggle I’d have to say is eating.

For the people I have been working with I have been told that I do have opportunities coming my way starting early in the next month but I just need enough to satisfy my minimal needs to be able to eat and travel by bus. I am asking for a donation of $425 but ANY DONATION WILL BE ACCEPTED.

This donation will allow me to purchase bus passes to travel around to my resources, get products for hygiene, to be able to wash clothes, and allow me to get a minimal amount of food without worrying day to day on what will I eat so I can get to work on building a foundation that will allow me to secure employment.

Thank you to everyone who read my post even if you don’t donate. We all have a story of struggle to tell, thank you for reading mine.

EMERGENCY HELP NEEDED

My heart is broken and my eyes are filled with tears having to write this story. My name is Birgit and it’s with a very heavy heart that I’m having to share my mother’s story to anyone who chooses to read this. On October 22nd of this year was a very hard day as we found out she was diagnosed with advanced breast cancer. At this point in time we are unsure where the cancer is spreading. She had a bone scan on October 25th and I’m thankful to say it hasn’t spread there. Her doctors and specialists are moving fast to start her on the right treatment for her. She will be starting chemotherapy and possibly radiation at the end of November. My mom, Brenda, has always had such a kind heart to anyone she meets. She’s the type of person who would rather give than receive. Her smile lights up any room she walks into and her sense of humor will make anyone who is close to her walk away with a stomach ache from laughing so hard. Her life story is a very sad and long one, but she always came out of everything with her head held high and stronger than ever. She’s such an incredibly strong woman that I look up to and wish to be half as strong as her. Our story is very long, so to kind of make it short, I finally found her 3 years ago after being apart for almost 20 years. The day we finally met was the best day of my life and I’m sure the best day of hers. So I guess you could call me crazy but I would like to save her life and spend more than 3 years with her. We would really appreciate any donations to help my mom out as she has to quit her job she’s been with for over twenty years. When she starts her chemotherapy she can’t work as she is around the public for 12 hours a day seven days a week, and she needs to be as healthy as she can be while on her treatment. Donations will be used to help pay for her medications. Donations and prayers are more than welcome as her situation is very urgent. Please feel free to share her story with people you may know. Thank you so much for reading my mom’s story. I will update as soon as we know anything more.

We had an important video call yesterday (Nov. 28) with the oncologist in Prince George and found out my mom has stage 4 breast cancer and is HER 2 positive. The doctors have found small spots on her lungs, so the cancer has potentially spread there. She starts her first chemotherapy treatment on December 11 as well as two targeted drugs for HER 2 positive. Her type of breast cancer is very aggressive so that’s why it’s growing and spreading so fast. Please if you can donate or share her story it would mean so much to her.

My mom has started her first set of treatments. She had her PICC line put in on Dec. 3. Yesterday (Dec. 11) she had her first targeted drug for the HER 2 positive and today (Dec. 12) she had her second targeted drug plus her chemotherapy drug (paclitaxel). We were at the hospital yesterday for 2 and a half hours and today for just over 7 hours to get her treatment started. She is doing really well and is very strong. If anyone can please donate or share her story we would really appreciate it.

Begging for a homeless Friend…

Hi…

My name is Hiawatha and I just came across this website after using Google to look for fundraising help other then Gofundme. I’m a married mother of four boys, two biological sons and two foster sons. I’m a stay at home mom and my husband is a 20+ years veteran Police Officer. I mention those two things because I want you to know that I’m being honest in asking for this help. We would stand to lose alot if I were making this up, committing fraud.

I’m not asking for help for myself or my family but for a long time friend. His name is John, literally.  John has been homeless on the streets of NYC for a little over 5 years now. This is his third time being homeless and is his longest stretch of time being on the streets. He was homeless for a short period of time in his 20s and then again in his 30s.  This time he’s in his 40s and hasn’t been able to recover and get back on his feet. He was able to get Social Security disability because of the poor condition of his body. And it was not without a 4 year fight to get it. And it helps but it’s not much when you’re on the streets. It’s hard to save money when you have nothing.

Being out in the elements over the years has taken it’s toll on him physically. At this point is hard for him to get a job let alone hold down a job. His legs and feet are always swollen from being on his feet all the time and not being able to sit or lay and elevate them for long. He sleeps on the trains overnight most often if he can’t score a bed in the shelter. There are just so many little issues with him that is hard to mention them all. But if anyone has questions about his situation I’m willing to answer them.

Bottom line I’m asking for donations to help him stay dry and warm this winter. The homeless have a hard time keeping their feet dry and clean because they wear the same socks from day-to-day.  It’s hard for them to keep and have clean underwear, no further explanation should be needed. Toiletry items are important and are hard to come by sometimes. I’m not asking for a windfall of money for him, not even hundreds of dollars. Just enough that I can give him to say, ‘Hey, we see you and we want to help you today’. Believe me I’ve lectured him over the years, I’ve had dozens of suggestions. At this point I just want to help him plain and simple. But with four boys and being a stay at home mom I can’t do it alone.

I haven’t told him about this fundraising try of mine for him because he doesn’t believe that people want to help the homeless, especially a man without children. I want to prove him wrong and I want to surprise him with a lump sum of money. Every single dime will go to him and him only. Please help, even a dollar would be awesome…it’ll add up to something.

The struggle is real

Emma, 5yrs old. Liam, will be 4 in March. Lola may, soon to be 6 months old. My wife, stressed to the max. My self…. Works forever but I can barley keep us a float.

In January 2017 I lost my job of 13 years with Lowe’s Home Improvement due to a management restructure. No fault of my own, but I bled blue for years. I believed in the company and preached their gospel. 13 years wasted….

I may have been unemployed, but I worked every day. I took care of the kids, at the time just Emma and Liam. While doing that, I was online working on finding a job. I tried and tried. My wife was working a part time job for extra money. Finally I did find employment. It took 6 months. It’s with a good company, but I had to take a pay cut. Also the wife has been out of work since Lola was born. We obviously cannot afford day care for 3 kids, and we have no family who can watch them.

Ever since then we have been struggling. Every pay check we pay the bills and we are left with a few hundred dollars. Some how with that we need to put gas in my car to drive an hour to work every day for 2 weeks, and put food on the table.

Food pantry’s help, but  they only let you come once a month.  Forget about assistance, I make too much, but only because I have a house. If I didn’t have a house, we would be able to have food stamps etc. We were told straight out it is because I have a job, and a house. Straight out. I couldn’t even get assistance when I was unemployed.

I can’t buy anything when we need it. If an emergency comes up we have to borrow it from family and to be honest, both my wife and my families are not rolling in it.

My wife is always stressed because we don’t know what we are going to do every pay day, and for the next 2 weeks.

They took the propane tank. Thankfully we have a wood stove which heats most of the house. It leaves us with half the house that has old windows we cannot use because it is like going outside. Thankfully there is no plumbing on that side of the house. I have to go out in the woods when I am not working and cut and split wood to heat the home.

I work 6 days a week. It leaves me with one day to get wood for the week. Believe me, green wood is hard to get burning and isn’t the best for the flue, but we don’t have a choice.

I get home around 6 pm, some times later. I get to see my kids for a few hours before they go to bed, and like I said, I am pretty much busy most of the day Sunday. I still only see them a few hours.

I am trying so hard. There is not much else I can do. I have sold anything I thought would bring money. Got nothing left worth selling.

I love my family. I want the best for them. I am failing as a provider. I need help.

Tonight for dinner we had some left over frozen ham someone gave use left over from their new years dinner ham, and peas. That’s it. The wife chopped it to little cubes and pan fried them, and steamed the peas. We gave the kids the most of it. I didn’t even get any peas.

I have included pics of the inside of our fridge. Honestly this is probably the most food we have in it. Not much. Some milk. Half & half, eggs. Wife needs protein for breast feeding. It’s the least expensive way to get it. The green stuff in the mason jar is home made baby food from steamed organic peas. The big jar is soup from my wifes father.  that’s one dinner this week. Little bit of rice left. A small bag of chicken nuggets for the kids. A small bag of bread flour. You see my wifes breast milk supply at the top.  Lots of open space on both sides.

I have $40 in the bank. I just got paid. We could buy food with it. But then how would I get to work? So we have to put it in the tank or I don’t bring any money.

End Of The Line

Hi, I’m Natasha And I’m 19.

One day at home my older brother and I were fighting (not normal brother and sister fighting) and he got mad to the point where he hit me in the face. When my boyfriend saw him do that they went to fighting (my boyfriend lived with me) after everything stopped and my mom got home she started yelling at me blaming me for all of it and ended up kicking me and my boyfriend out 2 days before my birthday with none of our clothes and just our two dogs and ones just a puppy. We ended up finding out that I was having pregnancy symptoms, but we don’t have the money to go to a doctor or to get test. We ended up not having anywhere to go so we came to Caldwell Texas to find my boyfriend’s mom, but came to find she got everything she had stolen from her and was beaten up by her boyfriend. So our last choice was us staying wit one of his family friends, we’ll we’ve done everything for them cleaned their entire house and even helped clean their couch they got from a friend just so we can live with them. Plus we even spent our last $150 on them for food, but she put a time limit on our stay and I’ve tried everything from getting a loan to asking other family members for help, but no one will help us. My boyfriend has been homeless for 2 years before we got together and I just don’t want him to be that way again. I’m only 19 and can’t finish my senior year in high school because of my situation. Nothing would make me happier then for me to be able to get a place and everything else I need and to be able to go back to school and finish my last year.

Im here asking if I could get at least $20,000 to help us get back on our feet, put food in our stomachs, clothes on our backs, and so I can finish high school, but anything helps please. If I don’t get anything that’s ok I won’t every give up on my dreams til they are succeeded, but thanks for reading my story and helping if you can. I believe nothing’s impossible. (Won’t let me add another picture)

My family screwed me over.. I need help

Hello!

First thing I want to say is thank you for taking your time to read this. I guess I should start by saying that my parents had me and my siblings at a really young age, so my grandparents were the ones to raise us. My parents separated when my dad went to the army, and he later on got remarried, had another child, and moved to the US. My mom was a nurse and she had another child with some dude, but we never really got to see her because of her crazy schedules. As we got older, our mom was diagnosed with Bipolar Disease. We still didn’t see her a lot, but when we did she would yell at us for no reason. She would yell at me the most; she liked to tell me I was only a burden for her and that I was a mistake.

When I got to 11th grade, I moved to the U.S with my dad because I was diagnosed with depression, and I had tried to kill myself a few times. When I graduated high school, I went back to my home country cause I had planned to find a job while I searched for a school to go to (I didn’t really do any of that in high school since I’ve always dealt with depression), but I came back to find out that my mom had already signed me up in some random school to become an English teacher. I told her that that’s not what I wanted to do, but she only said: “You’re not coming here to waste your time”. I decided to go to the school she had signed me up for, but at the end of the first semester I was feeling depressed again. I tried to talk to her. I told her that I didn’t like what I was doing; that I felt like I was just wasting my time. She got really angry at me, and pretty much kicked me out of her house.

I decided to come to the U.S with an aunt that had offered me to stay with her. When I got there, everything was fine at first. They helped me settle in quickly, and even help me find a job in a movie theater. There’s where I met my boyfriend. My aunt and her family are really religious, and I guess that the idea of me going out with someone bothered them. They started treating me different, and throwing hints to get me to move out until one day they actually kicked me out. Luckily for me, my boyfriend’s family opened their doors to me like I was part of the family already.

After a while, I lost my job at the movie theater because of a misunderstanding. My boyfriend was pretty much taking care of both of us cause it took me a few months to get another job.

Now I’m working at a dollar store. Trying to save up for a car so I can move around and find a better job. Next week I will be starting a Class D License Course that cost me $227. I was lucky that they let me do a $117 deposit because if not I wouldn’t had been able to pay for it. I have to pay the rest the first day of the course. I’m hoping that it goes well for me because I’m already starting to feel depressed again.

Thank you for reading,

Zay

Negative Bank Account

Hi everyone! I’m Sabrina and I need a little help. For starters, I’m a broke college student, however I’m almost done! Later this month, I’ll be starting my last semester in college. I’m currently studying English Education and I hope to become a high school English teacher. College is great, except for the fact that it’s so hard trying to juggle work, school, and internships. I do have a job, however, I just don’t work enough to cover rent. I currently don’t live in my hometown so I went home for the holidays and wasn’t able to go back to work until after New Years. This put me at a whole 2 weeks without a paycheck. My job is my only source of income right now and I barely make above minimum wage.
Thankfully, my job does pay for most of my other expenses, just not this one. I do have loving parents who give me everything they can, but with 6 other siblings, they just don’t have enough either. I’m not asking for a whole lot of money, I just need enough to make my account positive again. I’m not asking for more than I need. Currently, my bank account is -$360 as you can see in the picture. That’s all I need. Technically, all I need is 10 people to send me $36, lol. Either way, it would just help me out tremendously.
If I’m being honest, my rent checks keep bouncing and my landlord is getting quite tired of it and I don’t blame her. I just simply don’t make enough to cover everything I need to buy in order to be comfortable. I don’t live a lavish lifestyle (as much as I’d like to, lol) and I’m not a high maintenance person. I just go to school, work, and hang out with my friends. I’m pretty normal and don’t really have a spending problem at all. I just simply do not make enough money. Honestly, I’d be willing to pay it back if that’s an issue.
Anyway, if you’re reading this and do so happen to donate, thank you so, so much. Words cannot thank you enough. I understand that there are people in more worse situations and you could help donate to any of them and you helped me out and I am so grateful! If you didn’t, well then that’s okay too! Thanks for just reading this!

My Last Hope!

I am writing in hope that there is someone out there that can understand what I’m going through, and help wether with money or a direction.  My name is Kim, I am a 46 year old mom of 4 and a grandmother of 3. I have been fighting with my mortgage company for quit awhile now and even know I have given them everything they have asked for they still sheriff saled my home on December 7th, 2018. They had no interested buyers so they sold it to Freddie Mac for $2,169 dollars. I contacted the attorney who is representing them and he stated I can buy it back but it would have to be in cash. I don’t understand  how people can just not care, this is where my children have grown up and where we share our most precious memories .  It’s absolutely disheartening how even when the mortgage company admits they messed up my family suffers. This is our home, our life, our future. But since I don’t have money coming out my back end to hire an attorney to handle this, I have to tuck my tail and give up on something that we love. One thing I’ve always have tried to instill in my children is that if it’s something you believe in then fight for it. Don’t let anyone tell you you can’t.  The hardest part is I’m not sure how much longer I can fight. I’ve been fighting since I was 17 years old and am so overwhelmed and tired, I don’t know what to do. I’m owed over $ 140, 000 dollars in child support from my children’s 2 father’s . The one dad is court ordered to pay $276 dollars a month and I get $ 60 dollars. The child support department told me I should be grateful that I’m getting something.  My youngest father has a court order since 2003 and I only received  $2000 dollars and his remaining balance is about $64,000 dollars. He was in jail last year and I called child support to make sure he would get served while in there and my case worker said how do you expect him to pay while he was in jail cause he doesn’t have a job. I don’t understand,  why won’t you hold them accountable , they have court orders. I am at a loss with the system , I thought they were here to help people but I guess not. I have tried and tried and I don’t know what else to do.  I greatly appreciate any help and or want to thank you for taking tome just to read.
