I’m a woman in the 28-32 year old age range who is in need of financial assistance to help rebuild my life following a series of unfortunate events: being abused by an emotionally unstable parent, becoming a victim of a federal identity crime and dealing with some sort of connective tissue disorder that feels like chronic fatigue, which may be a result of all the abuse.

Some background: as a child I was an avid reader and writer, who enjoyed piano and other musical hobbies in my spare time, as well as cooking. However, my parents separated when I was about 1 year old. Following this, my mother moved me to an extremely rural area which made it difficult for me to form proper social connections.

I managed to make it through high school and graduate in the top of my class and then got into a university in a city. I met a nice businessman while attending this university. However, he turned out to be unstable as well, and while I was in another part of the county trying to rebuild my life during the brouhaha of the 2020 pandemic and his abuse, the feds called me to make sure I was still alive since they found a police report on him regarding assault. They also thought it was important to let me know that he happened to be in jail now for federal cyber identity crimes, some of which I was also a victim ….

I managed to complete my B.A. degree as this was happening. However, I have been living in a different state every two-three months for the last four years now, at the mercy of various hosts (in exchange for my skilled cooking abilities) and other men who have similarly abusive behavioral habits because I cannot find work that pays enough to pay my own rent. This constant moving around is really not ideal for my health.

I have a strong background in marketing and other niches, so I would like to become self-sufficient, heal my body and my mind, and put my skills to use. However, I can’t seem to do this because I’m continuously being abused by people with whom I am forced to live.

I am looking for help with the basics: safe shelter, food/vitamins and water; $10,000-20,000 would be ideal so I can cover some of the vitamins to help with my health, rent and food for 3-6 months and potentially buy a car. However, anything helps at this point.

I would feel relieved if I could escape this ongoing cycle of misery and abuse so I could become a contributing member of society; I will appreciate any help you can provide. Thank you for your consideration.

Hi my name is Renee I’m from Larose, LA. Due to hurricane Ida I now reside in Lockport, LA which is only a few miles away. Hurricane Ida was a massive storm breaking century long records of destruction. Basically every 5th structure in our town & the surrounding areas were destroyed. I was only able to save about 10% of my stuff. After being out of work so long my bills piled up. Our parish was out of water & electricity for a while so the money I had saved I actually had to give it to my daughter for hotel stays out of town so she could be in a safe & sanitary environment because she was expecting at the time. Hi, I’m Janice Tully-Gann, Los Angeles California. I live with my husband, who this story is very much about. Jim is a nice, good and loving man. That in the last three-four years bad things have happened. He was first diagnosed with Prostate Cancer, he had surgery that was only going to take an hour that turned into over five hours. But when he came home we could tell something was off. It took us over six months to find out that he has an aggressive form of Parkinson’s disease more like ALS but you live longer. At the beginning he was able to work as a salesman, ride his mountain bike and play in his band. Now he can no longer stand let alone walk. Jim has lost all his motor functions along with his speech and Dementia. On top of it all he gets weaker and weaker from a chronic Urinary tract Infection. In the past two weeks I have had to call the Paramedics at least six times to pick him up off the floor and put him back in his wheelchair, he is 6.4 I’m 5.6. I can go on and on what it is like living with Parkinson’s.

 I have been there 24-7 as Jim’s caregiver for the last three plus years, with no help. The only out-side trips I take are to the market, pharmacy or doctor. The market can take me three days to get there if he is not having a good day or few at this point. In the beginning, a market trip cost about $250.00 Per-week now I’m doing well if it’s $135.00 being that is all I have.

In the beginning of this journey we were fine but with Covid it has been a slow downhill. We had savings, stocks and special insurance for illness. Best of all, no debt. Now I’m defaulting on all my cards and $13,000.00 in debt. All our money goes into supplies and drugs. There is one particular drug that has a copay of $550 to $780.00.  Along with the rest we are behind $1,500.00 in basic Utility’s.

We have lived in the same apartment since 2012, never been late on rent till this month. And now going into November It’s the same , making us two month’s late.I have managed to pay $600.00 so far. Our rent is $2,200.00 per month. As you can see I’m $3,800.00 delinquent on rent let alone utilities.  

I have been working on ways to make a living to support us and Jim’s illness. Unfortunately everything takes time and money.

Hello I am here asking for help with my rental arrears.   I work very hard I actually run a mobile massage company but unfortunately I’m still recovering from the Pandemic.  I’m a licensed massage therapist so of course when the world stopped, my job was the 1st to go.  Once things started rolling again I was so in debt in still trying to reel myself out of it.  Of course I’m in credit card debt, bills etc.  I’m thankful I’ve made it this far but I’m now going through a drought with the work that I do and I financially take care of my 2 grandchildren while my daughter is in school and I’ve gotten so overwhelmed with back rent and credit cards that now I’m behind about 5 months in rent.  My rent office said they would work with me but it’s been hard.   I can’t seem to find any rental assistance here in Atlanta anymore so now I’m left with coming to this who can assist me and my family.  I’m not asking for anything extra but to get caught up with my rent.  If you can help us please do and it will be greatly appreciated.  Honestly I feel somewhat embarrassed but I have no other choice at this point.  1 day I pray to be in a position where I can help someone in this situation.

Several weeks ago I had surgery on my spinal cord. The surgery was a necessity to have. Several doctors including my neurosurgeon, ER doctor and primary care stated if I don’t have the surgery,  I would have permanent damage. Dealing for months with pain, I had no choice but to proceed. Truly wasn’t prepared for the financial strain this would have. My daughter whose a college student lives with me. Bills are simply piling up. There’s times we’ve had little food. The little money I receive from disability doesn’t cover my expenses,  esp the rent. Here in AZ the eviction process pretty fast here and accelerates after receiving a 5 day notice. I clearly don’t want to lose my home while trying to recover from surgery.  Just my daughter and I here& homeless shelters are full and if availability hard to get into. Eventhough I may lose my car( behind 2 payments at 419.00 each), I definitely want to keep a roof over our heads.
