desperate couple seeks property tax help to keep home and avoid homelessness

Hi. My husband and i have been dreading this every year for the part eight years.Lucky for the for us we have managed to pay our property tax on our home for the past eight years. This year we haven’t been so lucky.  After our 21 year old son committed suicide in March of this year , we both pretty much fell apart in our own way. I sunk into a deep depression and my husband shut down and also lost his job’ We have managed to pick our selves up. Steve went back to work and i have completed grief counseling. The bad news is we have had to catch up on several past due bills and when you are living paycheck to pay check, its been really hard .We are still behind on a couple bills, but our biggest concern is losing our home. My husband inherited this home 8 years ago. It was his grandparents home and it was built in 1947. There is alot of repairs that need to be done that we cant really afford right now as well. Overall its liveable and we can fix it as we go. Unfortunately the property tax is another situation and they wont hesitate to take our home if we cant pay the full amount on the due date. We have been getting letters in the mail from people that have offered to buy our home from us . I assume they got wind of our dilemma via public records. That really gets old and can really get discouraging.I am asking for help on here because we dont have any money saved and no where else to turn. Thank you for this opportunity. We greatly appreciate your consideration .@angelathurston1980 is my paypal link.

House close to foreclosure

Good morning /afternoon/evening:

We are a household of 6, my husband 44, myself 46 and 4 children 15, 11, 9, and 6. Since Covid we cannot seem to catch a break with work and finances. The more recent situation is my husband worked for a trucking company called YRC (yellow) for 1.5 years, August 1st of this year he went into work and the doors were closed. They went bankrupt and the whole company went under (on the news). So since then my husband has gotten a new job, However, we have not been able to catch up. We’ve tried doing a modification with our loan company, but we’ve done modifications before over the years and they said we’ve maxed out on the length of our loan – if that makes sense. They said the only option is a short sale, and we’re not ready to give up yet. We’ve tried getting help from family/friends, but everyone seems to be struggling financially as well. If we can get caught up, we should be able to keep up from there. We are currently 5 months behind, January will make 6 months and the mortgage company said that we have until the 24th of January to pay then after that our account can/will put into foreclosure but they cannot tell us exactly when. To get us caught up we need 8500 rounded up to the nearest dollar. That amount will cover January as well.

I’ve been a stay at home mom for some time, and this current situation has taught me that we have to be prepared at all times for situations like this, so in the midst of all this, I signed up to go to school to further my education, so I can start helping financially in the house. It’s just become too expensive to live now and days to live, and it’s stressful – but that’s life. I don’t want to have to do this again!

I don’t know how this works, but I have proof of all of my statements above. From the court documents of my husband loosing his job, denial letter from our mortgage company with the only option of short sale,  me signing up for school to make myself more marketable etc.

Thanks in advance!

I’VE LOST EVERYBODY. I DONT WANT TO LOSE MY HOME TO.

My grandfather Alexander Wilson was 94 a WWII Vet. My dad didn’t want to deal with him. So, something had happened that lead my dad to leave my grandfather at a rehabilitation center with nothing but a hospital gown on. No clothes no under garments, just a gown. For about a year I kept hearing my dad complain about having to take off from work to help his father, when he never wanted me. Long story short I received a call from the center in Baltimore Md, that my grandfather would like to see me and my oldest child Izayah. I reside in North Carolina, and I would drive up to see him on a weekly basics. So after about a year I decided to go ahead and be his POA an relocate my grandfather to NC with me, where he resided until he passes 2022 of Sept. In between the time he resided with me I open up claims thru the VA department for my grandfather’s pension an compensation while reconstructing my home to fit his needs ” stair ramp so he wouldn’t have to go up 2 flights of stairs etc. So, he was awarded on Sep 20th, 2022, for his compensation an on Sep 24th my grandfather passes on. So, the treasury went into his USAA account On March 2023 and an the VA recovered the funds that he was entitled to. Now I have to take out 10k for my grandfather’s funeral. Remind you all, I’m not working due to difficulties carrying my child. I’m about 5 months with child at the time. My father was, fiduciary over his funds due to my credit wasn’t together at that time, still isn’t tbh. So now that we put my grandfather to rest my father started to get sick on me. But he’s been sick the whole time and no one’s letting me know that due to my difficult pregnancy. So, 3 months later the VA decides to contact me about my father an wanted to know wants was going on with my grandfathers’ awarded funds, I had to let them know I have no idea what’s going on with those funds, as my father is in the hospital with stage 4 cancer. So, Its January 20th, 2023, 1 day before my baby shower I decided to go to my dad’s house and check on him because no matter what he has ever done “This is my dad”. I love him. We Headed out to Grab 2 salads from a restaurant he wanted to go to. After eating his meal, he decided to sit in the living room to watch tv, and that’s when the unthinkable happened my dad started to have a seizure I try to help him I couldn’t he died in my arms by the time the emergency unit arrive, he was gone the time was 11:28pm  I’m about 2/3 weeks away from my delivery date but going thru the stress of losing both my grandfather and now my dad the paramedic’s wanted me to go with them because I was having contractions. I denied an just wanted to be left alone to cry. So here it is the day later after experience the loss of my father, my baby shower, yes, the next day later Jan21st 2023, was supposed to be a wonderful moment and I couldn’t make it. So, my son Kingston was born on Jan31st 2023, he arrives 2 weeks sooner due to so many stressful events that has taken place. So now Its time to burry my dad, here’s another 12k for his funeral now I’m about to start running off of my credit cards cause my savings are depleted at this time, which was set aside for my time off to be with my newborn for that year. But no worries I just put in the claims for my grandfather’s funds the VA had taken an this was in March 23rd of this year all the way until Aug they decided to let me know that the form they told me to fill out was the incorrect form an I need to submit another form, and I did  in So they sent me a letter stating they are still processing my claim and that they are just waiting on a signature from the supervisor to send out the award letter. So, I’m actually relived cause my mortgage haven’t been paid since March. My car insurance has laps. So, now my tags are revoke my oldest son tuition hasn’t been paid, now he can’t even schedule his next semester classes, and this is his last year. At this point I’ve pawned all my jewelry to keep the lights on pampers an wipes food in the home. Asking for government assistance didn’t help. Now its Nov. and the VA are stating that they never recoup the funds from my grandfather’s account, and I need to go to the courts an open an estate in his name to claim the funds now it is going on Dec. no Christmas for us and to top it off a pre foreclosure letter cause I’m now 8 months in the rear. At 14k with no help I have no choice to get on the internet an beg for assistance at the last min Please from the kindness of you all’s heart please donate anything to help me keep my home and my family safe this cold holiday season an so forth attach is my cashapp information $KymmieDoll. Thank you so much

CFS & Dysautonomia – Going to lose my home. PLEASE HELP.

I am a veteran, who became disabled 2 1/2 yrs ago due to sudden onset of Dysautonomia w POTS, and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. I have been bedbound, cannot stamd at all & cannot take care of myself. I have applied for disability & have been waiting over 2 yrs with no response. I have spent my entire 401k I took a lifetime to save and have completely run out of money. I am now 6 mos behind on my mortgage & they are going to start forevlosure. I am behind on all bills & don’t have enough food to eat. I havr worked my whole life since I was 14 yrs old, served my country honorably, always paid my taxes and helped & mentored others my whole life. I have never asked anyome for anything, bc I’ve always been the one to take responsibility & do not want to burden others. However, I am in such despair now I don’t think I can survive without help. I have lost my job, my car, my girlfriend & everything I own. My home is all I have left & I desperately do not want to lose it. My mortgage is $1469 per momth & I am 6 months behind, so I owe rougly $9000 plus late fees. I still owe $175,000 on my home & have lived here for 6 years. i am still hoping over the next year ot so I can be approved for disability, but have no idea how long that may take, or if I will be approved, or what will happen. Any help that anyone may be able to offer would be a huge blessing. You would be helping an honest, big hearted father who has always done his very best to be a good person & an example for others. If helped, I would happily provide proff that ALL funds go DIRECTLY to mortgage company, or even graciously accept someone working directly with the mortgage company on my half. I have no desire to gain a single penny for myself. Thank you very much for your kond consideration. Dominic. paypal.me/CFSVet

Need help paying for my home

I’m not the type of person to ask for any assistance, but I’m in need. I am a single mother/aunt who is looking for any assistance to pay for my house, I had gotten a loan to help lower my tax payments and didn’t know I was not able to do that per my deed. Now the people I’m buying my house from have given their lawyer my loan information and the lawyer is ordering me to pay the loan off in 10 days or the foreclose on my house. I have always tried working very hard for everything I have. Thank any and everyone for your help and God bless.

AI destroyed my business. Suddenly I’m penniless. Can an Angel help save our home?

I am a 64-year-old translator and speak 7 languages. It took 7 years’ training to become a good translator, the same time it takes to study law or medicine.

After working as a freelance translator, I founded my own Translations company in 1994 based in London, UK. We cover 225 languages with 3500 highly qualified translators based worldwide. I’ve been so lucky to love my job, and successfully provided a top-quality service to a long list of well-known multinational companies for almost 30 years.

The appearance of platforms like Google Translate did not affect my business – Legal, Medical and Pharmaceutical clients, etc. needed 100% accurate translations and depended on the expertise of experienced humans. That is, until now…

AI suddenly arrived in a big way in 2023, it has almost completely destroyed the translations industry in just a few months. I’m still not sure exactly how, but the demand for my skills has all but dried up. In 2024 we were going to celebrate our 30th anniversary, and my eldest daughter was going to take over my company when I turn 65.

Instead, I had to make several people redundant this year, and in January I must fire my last employee, my daughter, and close doors for the last time.

My income has gone from healthy to almost nothing in just a few months!

I have just one year left to pay off the mortgage on our house, with just GBP 12280 / USD 15514 / EUR 14400 outstanding. However the bank is being totally unhelpful. I am 2 months in arrears, and if I miss one further month, they’ll start legal proceedings to repossess / foreclose the house!

My wife has been ill for many years and unable to work, so the responsibility is all on my shoulders. My youngest son is in his second year at university studying mechanical engineering. I’m gutted I can no longer support him.

I’m trying my hardest to reinvent myself at the age of 64, and I’m confident that I will! But these things take time…

The family understands we can survive deleting Christmas this year. But losing the house after all these years of hard and proud work is frightening and gives me sleepless nights.

Maybe there’s an angel out there who can help us through the coming year until I can stand on my two feet again?

Best wishes, and thank you for listening!

Desperate Times Call For Desperate Measures!!!!!!! ( Somebody Please Help me!!!)

Like the title says, I’m going through desperate times!                   12/06/2023

My home is in the final stages of a foreclosure sale. The appraiser comes tomorrow to make an appraisal. I owe a little over $58,000 on my mortgage. My son and I could end up homeless because our credit scores are too low to get approved for an apartment or mobile home. I’m also having trouble trying to get help from social services. If my son and I get kicked out of our home, it won’t be just the two of us without a place to live, but our pets will be  homeless as well.  I’m so sick and tired of life beating me down! All I want is a chance to get back on my feet and get a fresh start again!  Another burden I’m carrying is all my other debt I owe including my car loan. I’ve been through so much bad stuff in my life since my wife died about seven years ago. It’s been hell trying to make it on my own. It seems like the whole world is against me, and the world is winning! I’m asking for either $100,000 or

$150,000. If I get either of those sums, I’m going to try and buy my house and pay off all back debts and hopefully make some repairs. If I can’t buy the house, I would hope to get a two bedroom, pet friendly apartment. All I’m asking for is a chance to get back on my feet, erase my debts and maybe even start my own business.  Somebody please help me! my Cashtag is $jbidell

Thanks in advance!

Looking for a little help

Hello My name is Kat and my husband is a disabled firefighter and he is in the hospital as I write this.

He spent 20 years as a smoke jumper and then he volunteered at a rural Firehouse fighting house fires. He is not in the best of health anymore. He just had low back surgery on August

1st. And now they had to go back into his neck and fix one of the spacers they put in 4 years earlier. It had slipped out of place and was just hanging on by 1 mm. In it’s place between C3-C4 is now another fusion. The second neck surgery they put in Two moveable disks spacers and then three fusions. During COVID pandemic he was having trouble with his intestines and they did surgery and gave him a colostomy bag. They just removed it a year ago.

But ever since he got this neck surgery done on the 27th of November he has not been able to swallow anything since. So he is now back in the hospital and they are trying to figure out how to help him. They tried to put in a NG tube but his throat is so closed that they can’t get it into his throat. He is going into surgery in the morning and having a tube inserted into his stomach.

We all ready owe this hospital 7,000.00 dollars.

We are behind on the taxes for the house at 6,167.99.

If we don’t get at least one year of back taxes paid for. The house will go into foreclosure.

We’re 6,666.18 for the vehicle loan.

We just got a personal loan to fix the Trailblazer at 2,612.82

So we could go back and forth to the hospital and our doctor appointments.

Our 4 cats just got sick and the vet bill for getting them better is 1525.60.

One of the cats died. One of the other cat is still very frail and they all have the cat herpes virus of all the things that they could have gotten sick with. Ugh

Both credit cards are maxed out at 500.00 each.

I’m sick with Lupus and RA and a few other things. I would go to work if I didn’t have to take care of my husband all the time. I would like to be able to work from home.

I feel very overwhelmed with all of the debt that we have. I don’t like to ask for help but there comes a time when you feel like it is necessary.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story.

Thank you for any and all help you can give.

URENGTLY HELP ME!

THIS is VERY personal for me…..and I am going against my better judgment. I am asking you for your donations to help me stop the foreclosure on my home. Due to me having a Brain Aneurysm I got behind on my m mortgage and bills.
A foreclosure sale has just been scheduled on my home for December 8th.Once it is sold, my mortgage co. said I’d be ‘forcibly removed’ from my property. I have been working with my mortgage company for months and they are ‘supposedly’ still trying to help me but now I’m in dire straights. I am running out of time. I just resent the application for assistance to my mortgage company (for the 3rd time), and they told me to call them Monday to see if I’ve been approved for the loan modification. One option to cancel this sale, is to pay the ‘reinstatement balance’ of $11,502.42. THIS is VERY personal and hard to ask for help, but, like I said, I’m in dire straights and I don’t want to lose my home. Please donate if you can and please share, share, share. Thank you, in advance.

Home in Foreclosure

We are a family of 4 with two children under age 12. My husband and I work hard, but we have had a difficult few years. First, I lost a well paying job in 2016, shortly after my son was born. I was laid off while on maternity leave. I found work again, working 2-3 jobs at a time, just to earn 50% of my previous salary. Most years, I was earning less than $40,000. My husband is a teacher and earns a modest salary. There have been so many months we struggled to pay our mortgage, only to make a 50% payment, or a partial payment. I’ve gone nights without meals so I could feed my kids. There have been weeks where we cannot afford groceries, or we had to make the painful choice to buy groceries instead of paying the mortgage.

In the last 6 months, I found a solid job that pays enough, but we have accumulated so much debt over the last few years just trying to stay afloat. We took on short-term loans at high interest rates. We’ve saved some money just to spend it on emergencies like broken appliances, a car accident, and replacing a 40 year old furnace. We have tried repeatedly to work with our home lender and still seem to come up short. We are several months behind on our mortgage. Our home is in foreclosure. We are doing everything we can to catch up, but we desperately need to save our home. I firmly believe that the next 12 months could be better than the last few years, but we need to get caught up on our mortgage. We need at least 4-5 figures to get on decent footing, but at least $10,000 to show a good faith attempt to stay in our home. Any amount is helpful.

Help

At the age of 55, I find myself at a crossroads in life, grappling with unexpected challenges and seeking assistance in my journey towards stability and a place to call home. For the past 25 years, I devoted my time and energy to educating young minds as a primary school teacher, a profession that has not only been fulfilling but has also defined a significant part of my identity.

However, the tides of life took an unexpected turn with the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, which cast a shadow over the stability I had known. The repercussions of this global crisis reverberated through my personal life, leading to the dissolution of my 25-year-long marriage in April 2022. Coping with the emotional aftermath of a divorce is challenging in itself, but the financial implications have added an extra layer of complexity to my situation.

Presently, my primary concern is the completion of my home—a sanctuary where I can rebuild and rediscover myself. I embarked on the journey of constructing my house, a dream that is not only symbolic of a fresh start but also a tangible manifestation of my resilience. However, the road to completing this project has been fraught with obstacles, and the financial strain is palpable.

As a single woman in her mid-fifties, my income as a primary school teacher, while meaningful, is not sufficient to cover the costs associated with building a home. Complicating matters further, a substantial portion of my earnings goes towards repaying a bank loan I undertook to purchase a car—an essential aspect of my daily life and work commute.

In light of these circumstances, I am reaching out to the community for support and donations. Your assistance will not only contribute to the physical construction of my home but will also play a crucial role in rebuilding the foundation of my life. Every donation, no matter how small, is a step towards providing me with the stability and security that has been elusive in recent times.

I want to express my sincere gratitude to those who choose to support me on this journey. Your kindness and generosity will not only impact my life but will resonate as a testament to the strength of community and the ability to uplift one another during challenging times.

Lost Job / Trying to avoid Foreclosure

Hi.

Is it strange that even though this site is designed for those of us in need to request assistance from those who can help, I still feel awkward asking? I’ve had this page open on my desktop for nearly two months and got really anxious every time I clicked on it to start writing. They say a closed mouth doesn’t get fed, so I needed to admit to myself that I need help and I can’t do this alone. That’s a very difficult thing to do for someone who likes to help, but not ask for it.

My Story: When the bubble burst in 2008, I was laid off at the end of October. I spent the next 8.5 years surviving on unemployment, underemployment, self-employment; basically anything legal to feed myself and not lose my home. The arrears on my mortgage and maintenance fees (combined) at one point equalled some people’s annual income. A home-saver grant in 2014 gave me a much needed lifeline. And, then I was blessed with a steady full time job in April of 2017.

At the beginning of 2023, six years of hard work and discipline resulted in my making the last payment to bring current the roughly $60K total I owed to my HOA (maintenance arrears + late fees + HOA’s attorney’s fees). I was now able to focus on chipping away at my $40K mortgage arrears (while still paying current maintenance).

In the spring, the bank sold my debt to a collector which (this summer) put me on a six month program to establish a new mortgage instead of losing my home to foreclosure: Pay $1738.38 by the 1st of each month (Aug ’23 – Jan ’24). So, even though I had to keep my belt tightened to manage the $1738 (mtg) + $625 (HOA) + living expenses, while only making a couple hundred more (monthly) than that $2400 total, I stayed positive and believed that this too would eventually pass.

But, on October 12, ’23, training to move up a position in my company, while training my replacement, my former employer laid off 10% of the company, and gave me four weeks severance after 6.5 years of service. Deflating.

The shock of first being heralded for exceptional work, then being terminated with a disrespectful severance package, when on the door step of finally rebounding after 15 yrs of struggle was crushing. Now, I’m two months behind on my maintenance (made the decision to fall behind on the HOA fees to complete the six month mortgage program).

Ideally, I’d like enough to cover the two remaining mortgage program payments, plus three additional months covering the first quarter of 2024 (5 x 1738.38 = $8691.90). And, the two missed months of my HOA plus Dec and the first quarter of 2024 (6 x 625 = $3750). The grand total of $12441.90 + living expenses as it’s difficult to find a job during the holiday season. $15000 would be a great help, but I am open to whatever anyone out there can provide. Humbly. Thank you.
