I never imagined I’d be in a position to ask strangers for help, but life doesn’t always go the way we plan. I am a hardworking parent and the sole provider for my family. I’ve always done my best to give them a stable life. But over the past few years, the cost of living has soared, unexpected expenses have come up, and my paycheck just couldn’t stretch far enough.

To keep a roof over our heads and food on the table, I turned to credit cards. It was supposed to be a short-term fix. But little by little, as life kept throwing challenges at us, the balances grew. Hello! My name is Samantha and I am a mother 3. I am trying to save my family home and I am currently on maternity leave and paying 2 mortgages.

In January of 2025 my mother passed away and left me my childhood home. She was behind on the mortgage already and I haven’t been able to dig myself out of the hole. Which seems to be getting deeper and deeper as the months pass. Her employers forced her to retire in October of 2024 for health reasons and she lost her life insurance policy she paid into for over 30years. She had some money saved in the bank but was scammed out of everything because some dirtbag told her he loved her and took all her money.  We were counting on probate to end quickly to help us financially but I was just informed I wouldn’t be able to close it for 6 years due to the nature of where the money is coming from.

My husband and I are both 64 years old and writing with deep humility and hope. We married in our twenties, both employed—he a truck driver, I a middle school teacher. We purchased our first home, then adopted two infants: a baby girl and a newborn boy. Our hearts were full of joy, our future bright.  Inspired by my mother’s humanitarian leadership as a community activist, we decided to take out a second mortgage on our home to buy a two-unit property, located in an “up and coming area” of the city.  As compassionate humanitarians in our new community, we decided to provide rooms for rent for low-income men called *I Am My Brother’s Keeper* (I-AM-BK). We offered safe, affordable rooms with access to job programs, food banks, and recovery resources. Every Thanksgiving, we served home-cooked meals to tenants and community members. But our compassion outpaced our financial planning. Tenants were often transient and unable to pay rent consistently. We now carried three mortgages, mounting utilities, and repair costs, with no steady profit. When we tried renting one of the units to families, the legal hurdles of eviction worsened things, and we returned to our original mission. Still, the debt deepened. My husband’s on-the-job injuries cut his income in half. Upon his return to work my mother’s health rapidly declined and compelled me with honor to become her full-time caregiver. I left work for several years to take good care of my mom until she passed away. I returned to work and we never stopped trying to keep our two properties. It was never about chasing wealth, but leaving a legacy of home ownership and true community humanitarianism. As senior citizens, securing our home out of foreclosure is the greatest gift we could be given. So with great humility, we ask: Will you be *our* Brother’s Keeper, as we once were for others?

i never really thought I would get to this point in my life but here I am. I am looking for 35,000$.

The biggest reason for this is so my children do not lose there home. I went through some time in the past year without a job and got behind on everything. I am electrician by trade. I was working for one company and had my van broken into and all of my tools stolen, they did not like this and let me go. I will say the tools were all mine and purchased by me. The company provided none of these tools. It took some time to get another job and I got behind on my mortgage and car payment and everything.

I hope you’re doing well – I’m reaching out because I’m going through a really tough time right now and could use a little help.

I’m currently in the middle of a divorce, and it’s been overwhelming emotionally and financially. I’ve found myself having to handle all the bills on my own—mortgage, car note, utilities, everything. On top of that, my income has gone down, and the cost of living just keeps climbing. I’m doing my best to keep up, but lately, it’s been nearly impossible, and I haven’t been more stressed, it’s affecting my health, PTSD and migraines.

Right now, I’m living paycheck to paycheck and falling behind on major bills. My car was recently repossessed after some mechanical problems I couldn’t afford to fix, which has made getting to work even harder to get it back and trying my hardest to catch up with all of my other utilities. I’ve also started getting shut-off notices for my utilities, which has added a lot of stress to an already difficult situation.

It’s pretty hard for me to ask for help and don’t have people to rely on in that way, but at this point, I don’t have many options. I want to be able to take care of my dog, I don’t want to lose the roof over my head or my means of transportation.  I do not have the best credit to receive loan options.  I’m just looking for some temporary assistance to help me cover essential expenses and get through this rough patch. I’m doing everything I can to stay afloat and get back on track, but I can’t do it alone right now. Job hunting is pretty difficult this season, but I am actively looking.

Hello, if you are reading this you might want to know what is going on. So my partner and I have 2 kids and took in my sister. My daughter has autism, my son is showing signs of it as well. My sister came to us because of unpleasant situations.

I work a full time job and my partner is in the fields. We are struggling between economy, kids, sickness, and all the other necessities of life.

We have been robbing Peter to pay Paul and now are facing foreclosure. I don’t know how to get out of this and I can’t afford to loose our home. My son and I received the worst news in October 2024. He has leukemia. He’s been through so much with treatment and hospital stays and has stayed strong. He is my entire world. I took a leave of absence from work but have gone through my savings and medical bills are piling up. My parents are on a fixed income and can’t really help much. I had to return to work but catching up is very hard.
