Medical bills for an elderly man without a family

Without the rich heart, wealth is an ugly beggar. – Ralph Waldo Emerson

I have helped people in need throughout my entire life. When my ex-girlfriend needed a car, I bought her a new one, when I saw people on the street hungry. I would take them to a restaurant and let them order anything they wanted, as much as they wanted and I would pay for it. Helping those in need was so rewarding and fulfilling that the joy to me was indescribable. Giving people money was so easy for me; it was helping them put their broken lives and shattered dreams back together that was extremely hard and it took much more than just money.

Never once in my worst nightmares did I think I would come to this, where I would be the one begging for help. I am much more comfortable giving, than being at the mercy of others.

I was a homeowner with my home paid off, I had a 401K plan and a portfolio of DRIP accounts, stocks, bonds and mutual funds.

A couple of twists of fate, and now at 63 years of age, without a family, I am disabled physically and psychologically (I have proof) broke, technically homeless (I am allowed to sleep in a bed, but I have no bathroom or kitchen privileges), and in need of dental/medical help.

I am lucky though, instead of one pot to pee in, I have two.

I will be losing my room and bed in a couple of months (hopefully a little longer) and the thought of being homeless in the dead of winter does not offer me much comfort. I have called 211, I have asked for assistance from all sources available, but to no avail. My disabilities make it dangerous and unbearable for me to sleep in a homeless shelter, besides they are mostly full.

My Christmas wish list is:

Fix my C-PAP machine (I have obstructive sleep apnea) my machine broke months ago. It is old and out of warranty, so I have to pay to repair it. Repair cost is $375

I have very poor dental health and I need a tooth extraction $425

I know I am asking for a lot. I don’t expect to get this much money, but I will gratefully accept any and all donations. Thank you for reading this far. I hope fate is kind to you and pray none of you go through what I have and am going through. My PayPal link/QR code is below. Thank you for your kindness and your rich heart.

A humble plea for support change my life

Dear kind Donors

I arrived in Canada with my husband and our three children, carrying with us a treasure trove of dreams and hopes. I was determined to enhance my prospects, so I dedicated myself to learning English, a vital skill in this new land. As time went on, I decided to further my education by enrolling in college. However, life had a twist in store for me that I could never have foreseen.

During this journey, I was diagnosed with breast cancer, a devastating blow to my family’s aspirations. The treatment journey was grueling, consisting of chemotherapy, surgery, and radiation. Despite the pain and challenges, I persevered, determined to fight for a better future for my children.

But life’s trials weren’t over; seven months later, I was faced with yet another daunting diagnosis: brain cancer. This was a turning point, one that tested my spirit to its very limits. With immense courage, I underwent a delicate brain surgery and continued with radiation therapy.

The toll on my body and spirit was significant. I found myself in a position where I could no longer work, and my husband, nearing retirement age, struggled to secure employment. Our financial situation grew dire, and we found ourselves burdened with a substantial debt of $90,000, unable to meet our obligations.

In the face of these challenges, I felt my hopes slipping away, and a sense of helplessness began to consume me. I couldn’t fathom how I would provide for my children, who were my driving force throughout this tumultuous journey. The weight of uncertainty and the fear of not being there for them weighed heavily on my heart.

In these trying times, it feels as though I’m living on borrowed moments, unsure of what the future holds. The one thing that keeps me moving forward is the enduring love and resilience of my family. We hold onto the belief that there is still a glimmer of hope, and that there are kind souls out there who can offer a lifeline to help us navigate this challenging chapter in our lives.

The adversities we face may seem insurmountable, but I hold onto the strength within me, the love of my family, and the belief that there are compassionate individuals who can make a difference. It’s my fervent wish that my children can fulfill their dreams, and I can only hope for the chance to see them achieve the bright future I envisioned when we first set foot in this land of opportunity.

The journey has been long and arduous, but I haven’t given up. I’m a fighter, and I’ll keep fighting for my family, no matter the odds. We may be facing one of life’s darkest chapters, but I believe in the resilience of the human spirit and the power of compassion to light the way forward.

Pesky Tumor is becoming very expensive

Hello everyone,

My name is Alicia,

I am a 34 year old, full time student (Anthropology & Journalism), and real estate agent.

I am genuine, compassionate, artistic, adventurous, hardworking, and fun loving.

Thank you for being here, I’ll get right to it.

I am asking for assistance for two reasons, wanting to start a family and medical bills due to my tumor.

I have a small lesion in my pituitary gland. Although it’s not life threatening, it’s caused serious health issues; osteoporosis, fertility, major hormone deficiencies.

This tumor is costing me a tremendous amount of money to be able to live a normal healthy life. My dream is to become a mother, I have plenty of options for doing so, unfortunately they will be expensive.. A few years ago I had almost given up on becoming a mother, I was getting older, I couldn’t find the right guy, and I couldn’t have them naturally…I just thought I was destined to be the best aunt & dog mom ever…forever. Two years ago, when I moved back from Arizona to my hometown in Oregon, I reunited with my small town crush. We’d been in school together since 2nd grade, graduated together…I hadn’t seen him in over 15 years. I knew instantly that we’d be married one day, I’ve never wanted a child more.

Because of the lesion in my pituitary gland, Its like I’ve been going through menopause since the age of 15.

First, it’s caused primary amenorrhea. I am 34 years old and have never had a natural menstrual cycle. I only cycle when I am on medication. This is very rare. Most women loose their period for some reason (excessive exercise, being pregnant, eating disorders, menopause, etc.) those are called secondary amenorrhea, much more common. My female reproductive system however, is in great condition and working order. The issue is my brain (pituitary) is not sending the signal to my ovaries that it’s “that time”…so without my cycle I don’t Ovulate and release my eggs (which are still plentiful).

In order for me to successfully Ovulate and attempt conception. I have to take these hormone injections called gonadotropins. I then visit the doctor twice a week for an ultrasound and bloodwork. When I reach ovulation and my follicles have reached the appropriate size, the doc gives the green light.

None of this is covered by insurance, we’ve done one cycle so far it cost nearly $7,000 (medicine & doctors visits). The success rate is anywhere from 12-20% it raises each time, after 3 or 4 times they recommend IVF which if we must do, will be a minimum of $20k.

We did our first round, traveled from Eugene to Portland (2hrs each way), twice a week for 3 weeks, I injected myself each night, my ovarian follicles grew and I ovulated just fine. :( unfortunately, this round wasn’t successful.

My fiancée has his contractors license and his own flooring business, he works extremely hard. We are more than capable of providing for our future family. But and additional $7,000 isn’t something we can do every month at the moment, especially as students trying to get a degree to better our future for our family.

Right now were saving for round two.

Secondly, I mentioned this tumor has cost me tons of money over the years. Because my condition is considered hormonal, due to it being in my pituitary gland and affecting all my hormones. My insurance won’t cover a lot of the specialists I’ve had to see over the years or many of the medications I must be on. They look at hormone therapies as elective. In my case they are most definitely not. The lack of estrogen in my body has caused my bones to break down so much that I’ve developed serious osteoporosis. Since I was diagnosed, I got a gym membership, but I’ve also spent thousands on home equipment and personal trainers (usually meant for elderly clients) in an attempt to stop the process of bone loss. I am also on a strict diet, and spend a pretty good amount on specialty bone supplements each month.

If I don’t receive any help, I know I will find a way and never stop fighting for my dreams for the future and for a healthy life.

But if you are in a position where you can and choose to help. I will be so incredibly grateful, as I am trying to stay positive but it’s been quite a struggle.

Thank you for taking the time!

~ Alicia

A Humble Plea for Support – Your Help Can Change My Life

A Humble Plea for Support – Your Help Can Change My Life

Dear Donors

I hope this letter finds you well and in good health. I write to you today with a heavy heart, but also with a glimmer of hope, for I have seen the incredible kindness that people like you can offer in times of need.

My name is Latff Said, and I am a family man who, three years ago, had his life turned upside down by a devastating car accident. Since that fateful day, I have been living a life marred by excruciating physical pain, mounting medical bills, and the relentless battle against my own mind.

The accident left me with a series of life-altering injuries, including a nerve problem that has cast a long shadow over my everyday existence. The pain I endure is constant, a cruel reminder of that ill-fated day. But, it isn’t just the physical pain that I grapple with; it’s also the emotional turmoil that has engulfed my life.

I have been diagnosed with depression and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), conditions that have slowly eroded my ability to lead a fulfilling life. The trauma of the accident haunts my every step, and I find myself trapped in a cycle of despair.

To make matters even more challenging, I have been demoted at work, resulting in a significant reduction in my income. The financial strain, combined with the relentless weight of my injuries and mental health issues, has left me struggling to cope with even the simplest aspects of life.

My house, which should ideally be a place of comfort and solace, is in dire need of repairs and minor renovations to accommodate my medical conditions. I long for a safe and supportive environment that can facilitate my recovery from the depths of depression. My mounting medical bills have been unsettled and I had seen a social worker with only solution is to pay by installments.

And that’s where I humbly turn to you, dear friend. I am reaching out to ask for your support and the support of others who, like you, have a generous heart. I seek donations to make the necessary repairs and renovations to my home, not just to make it accessible and safe but to create a fresh and uplifting environment where I can begin to heal from my mental scars.

I understand that we all face our own challenges, and I would not ask this of you if it were not absolutely necessary. Your financial assistance can make a world of difference in my life. Any amount, no matter how small, will be deeply appreciated and put to good use.

Should you wish to verify the legitimacy of my situation, I am more than willing to provide the medical documents that chronicle the challenges I am currently battling. I am an open book, and I am ready to share my story with those who are willing to listen and help.

I genuinely hope that there are kind souls out there who can see my plight and are willing to extend their helping hand. Your contribution can be a ray of hope in a world that, at times, feels incredibly dark.

I am forever grateful for your time, consideration, and, potentially, your support. Together, we can make a real difference, helping me regain not only my physical health but also my emotional well-being.

I am seeking about US$5,000.00.

If there are sufficient funds, I would also like to switch to another career doing online business if deemed possible.

Thank you from the depths of my heart for considering my request.

LIVE AND THRIVE

Hello, my name is Deboruah Madonna. I am fundraising for myself. I have inflammatory breast cancer stage 4. It is a rare cancer that ultimately results in death. I’ve have survived almost 4 years and still going strong. My husband and I have paid for all my medical with the help of insurance. But insurance doesn’t cover everything. I had to retire in April after 35 years of working at a children’s shelter. I’ve gone through 6 months of chemotherapy and 4 months of radiation, hysterectomy and a double mastectomy. The chemo left me with severe neuropathy in my calves, feet and hands. I recently got the go ahead to get the Bariatric Sleeve. My insurance will not cover it. If I can get this weight loss operation it will help with my ability to walk, have less pain and improve my self esteem. It has not been easy for me but I still have a lot of life in me. This will give me some a better quality of life. I try to enjoy everyday. This is something I really want to do for my health and hopefully get a few more years of life. Anything will help. Send prayers and good vibes too. Please share as many times as you. Thanks so much ❤️

Carl’s Dilema

Hello everyone, this story starts out with 32 year old Carl who is a very close friend of mine! His dad was in and out of the hospital, and now just passed away! He has been trying to carry the brunt of the hospital, memorial, and other housing bills himself! But has found it quite overwhelming, as he has needed to take off work and also now caring for his aging mother! He has no close family as he is an only child and has found it quite difficult to find funds enough to reach around. A few close friends have loaned him money, but the hospital bills are quite expensive! So to any of you out there who get Carl’s story and can relate to it, please make a donation so he can get back on his feet again! I THANK YOU VERY MUCH! It will mean a lot to him and his mother! Here is my PayPal link to send your donation to!

POST-MITRAL VALVE REPLACEMENT OPERATION

I am Zimbabwean national resident in South Africa My wife is 58years old has been battling with a heart problem for many years. We have two children through cesarean section due to her heart condition  This year in January her condition deteriorated and we  isited different doctors for consultations. The doctors were prescribing different types of medication but her condition worsened.

We suffered financially as we visited different doctors seeking for help but were not winning.

Eventually some time in April someone referred us to Dr Disla ,acardiologist at netcarehospital in Johannesburg. It was Dr Disla who picked up the real problem with her heart, of which he advised us that my wife needed a valve replacement. He gave her medication and referred us to a government hospital.

2 days later my wife suffered a minor stroke and was admitted in hospital  for a week.

She was discharged and put on a 3 months waiting list for an operation. When she got home things got worse and she developed more problems eg kidneys, water I the stomach, swollen feet ,vomiting and loss of appetite. We battled as we tried different doctors for help, with no success and she was e eventually bedridden. The private hospital gave us a quote of R500 000 to do the operation and we had no money. Her heart rate wasn’t by then.I had toborrow money from different people ,which i managed to raise R300 000. I then sent her  to india for an operation which was a success.she came back  home last month. She is recovering well and taking medication including wofrin.

I fell into serious debt and am trying to pay back people while also taking care of my wife as she is not fully recovered yet.

I have all the proof from South African doctors and India hospital and air tickets.

Any assistance will be appreciated to return back to normal life

Thank you

Help me get back on my feet!

I’m a hard-working man with rheumatoid arthritis. I recently fell and broke my prosthesis (left hand), which I need to live a normal life and to work. Now I’m facing an unexpected financial hardship, and I need 600 euros to cover the cost of my medical bills.

I’ve tried to get an advance on my salary from my employer and a loan from my bank, but I’m not eligible because I’m still new to my job. I’m only three months into my new role, and I’m not covered by the company’s medical insurance policy until I’ve been an employee for six months.

I’m willing to pay back the money in two installments: 300 euros in two weeks (November 1st) and 300 euros in six weeks (30th of November). I’m a responsible borrower, and I’m also a generous person. When I had money, I always donated to help others. You can read about one of my donations here: https://www.nieuwsblad.be/cnt/gojbd7s5

Please help me get back on my feet so I can go back to work and support myself. Every little bit helps. Thank you for your generosity and support.
