December 16, 2023 my son was hit in a head on collision through no fault of his own, other than waiting to turn from the turning lane on a highway.  By the grace of God he survived the crash.  He has had to have surgery on broken collarbone, wrist, broken/crushed bones in his right foot, surgery on knees and fibula. There are screws that have to be taken out because the doctors did not like the way his legs are healing, so they have to be redone in a future surgery. Much is left to be done but in the meantime his insurance ran out in January one month exactly from the day of his accident at which time I paid for insurance out of pocket for six months. It had to be done in order for him to continue to go to see doctors get medication etc. Now he needs surgery and eventually therapy. After the six months were up it has been difficult for me to continue. Soon after that he and his fiancee had to move from the apartment they were living and have been trying to find another place but it is difficult because although she is working they are unable to get enough for down payment(deposit, first and last month) to be able to move. He has filed for disability and Medicare but it is such a long wait before he can get assistance. He filed back in February and will go weekly to check on status to be told the same thing,  that there is a wait. We understand there is a wait but it is hard watching my son struggle with pain and staying here and there. I have gotten a room when I can so he can be able to have a bed to lay down. If I could do more I would do it.  That is why I am asking if anyone can help. Even if it’s money to get some type of insurance so he can get back to seeing doctors. And enough for them to make a down payment etc. to get into their own place.  He has no idea I am putting this out there but anything anyone can help with would be appreciated and used to help him and his family. I am both humbled and personally embarrassed to share my painful story with you, however, I find myself in a dire place.  My name is Michael B and I am a faithful servant of God.  As a matter of background, I have had two long careers – first as a 30-year law enforcement professional (medically retired due to critical gunshot injury and 27 ensuing surgeries) in Houston, Texas, and second as a university professor teaching young students in Criminal Justice.  I am now 67 years of age and find myself in an urgent financial bind.  The reasons follow.

I was widowed in 2011 due to the loss of my wife’s battle with breast cancer.  We spent all of our life’s savings on cancer treatments, therapies and drug trials.  I live on my meager police pension, and very small Social Security benefits (small because I am in a pension system).  I remained single and alone until 2022 when I remarried.  I had prayed for many years for God to provide me with a good Christian wife.  We were married for a little more than two years.  Little did I realize that she was wearing a mask to hide the fact that she was a covert narcissist.  Over the past 8 months, her true cruel nature began to surface.  I learned of her many lies, deceit, cheating and stealing my money.  On July 31, 2024, my wife secretly filed for divorce, all the while telling me that she would agree to seek counseling and to save our marriage.  She simply left while I slept in the middle of the night with no discussion or any semblance of closure. I am an emotional wreck and her actions and treatment of me leave me feeling like a broken man. I am now what is referred to as a victim of narcissistic abuse.  I was never previously aware of the depth and level of emotional trauma associated with the narcissist.

Yes, she actually stole my money and now I am in urgent need to get over the initial month or two to find solutions to pay my mortgage, utilities and the day to day bills.  I simply have limited funds now and cannot afford to lose my home.  Due to my disability, I have limited options.  Therefore, I humbly ask for any financial assistance from you generous, kind, and understanding individuals that I have faith are in this world.  I will thank you in advance, and leave you with my genuine promise that when I am in a better position, I will pay it forward – perhaps to another victim of narcissistic abuse.

I am 54 years old and have been dealing with agoraphobia, anxiety, severe depression, and PTSD stemming from a traumatic incident many years ago. Despite these challenges, I upheld a strong work ethic for many years and have always held down a job, but a recent layoff has caused my mental health to deteriorate significantly.

I am currently in the process of applying for disability benefits, as the debilitating anxiety I experience while searching for new employment, compounded by my agoraphobia, has made it nearly impossible for me to work. Some days I barely get out of bed when I’m at my lowest lows.

In April, I was hospitalized for a week following a suicide attempt and was subsequently on leave for six weeks to recover. This resulted in further financial strain and intensified my stress and anxiety. I continue to heal myself through the process of counseling, DBT and CBT classes to help with my mental health. I am currently under the care of a Psychiatrist, and mental health therapist. Sadly, I will be losing my healthcare in 3 months and am not sure how I will be able to continue my mental health battle, nor afford my own insurance. I worry about how I will afford my prescriptions that make me feel human most days.

While I await a decision on my disability claim, with the help of an attorney, I am facing serious financial hardship. My husband is also on disability due to injuries from a car accident, which adds to our economic difficulties. We don’t have a lot of bills, just the normal, mortgage and basic bills that come along with a home; electricity, water, sewer, garbage, phone, and internet.

We are humble individuals, doing our best to navigate these challenges. To give back and support ourselves, we have been volunteering with Gleaners, helping provide food assistance to those in need during this difficult time which also helps us to get weekly food boxes. We are also in the process of signing up for SNAP benefits to assist us further.
