Just seven months ago I had a credit rating of 815 and paid all my bills at the end of the month and lived within my means. A friend came to me and asked for help with a cell phone bill and internet. It was my pleasure to assist. Within a few days she needed help with a water bill because it was shut off. She then came to me because she and her brother were going to be evicted in 3 days if I did not help her pay $4890. She shared with me that she would be coming into money, and that she would share with me the proceeds. The only caveat was this company required “fees” for the two cars in storage she was to receive, and they would be shipping it on a flatbed by UPS from Las Vegas. She was also supposed to pay all her taxes for the multimillion dollars she was to receive upfront. They would send her invoices for the payments she paid and for the payments I made. Mind you, all of these payments had to be made either by Zelle or MoneyPak. The invoices would gradually go down as she made the payments but there always seem to be problems with MoneyPak’s saying someone had used the cards before they received them. So, we lost those amounts to “scammers.” They were constantly promising they were going to be at her house as soon as all fees were paid and delivery would be done. There was also the statement they were raising money on her behalf by donors if she promised to double their payment after she was paid. Over the last seven months, I have paid many “fees” by getting cash advances on credit cards and buying MoneyPak cards and sending them to this company to the point that I have completely drained my savings and run up my credit cards and taken out loans in the amount of over $40,000. I would like to think I was a smart woman at the age of 57 (who is disabled) but I got caught up in the promise of a payday that I know now is never going to come. I became involved in this fraudulent activity. I am ashamed and now destitute and am now coming to you to ask for your help. I am terribly ashamed, and I do not know what else to do but beg. This isn’t easy to write, but I feel like I’ve got nothing left to lose. I messed up. I’ve struggled with addiction for a long time. I had some time clean under my belt, and I really thought I was on the right path… but then life hit me hard. I slipped, and what was supposed to be just one bad night turned into a spiral.

Now, I’m out here with nothing. No roof over my head. No money. Just the clothes I’ve got on and a bag I carry everywhere. Some days I don’t eat. Some nights I don’t sleep. I’ve lost people. I’ve lost trust. And to be honest, I’ve almost lost hope.

When I was pregnant with my third and last son, I only prayed that he was healthy. I say this because his brother was born allergic to everything and severely asthmatic. On his third birthday we were celebrating his 200 visit to the Children’s Hospital for acute asthma attacks, allergies or food reactions. A few years later we found out he was Autistic. So, when I became pregnant 8 years later, I prayed over and over again that this little boy was just healthy. And he is, healthy as an ox… but was born profoundly deaf. Great, I got this! That we can manage and embrace. I soon after diagnosis fought the FDA, found a Dr to go rogue, and he was the first in our state to be implanted at 9 mos old. Just to then start a very long road of therapy appointments and need for technology.

What I was not prepared for, is the cross modal neuroplasticity. His body full of spidy senses and a nervous system on overdrive all of the time. I was not prepared for life to be so cruel to him in being bullied and treated with bias at every turn. I was not prepared that being prideful and staying employed rather than on the system…making barely enough to pay rent and the basics, choosing what not to pay in order to eat meant we would not qualify for any assistance or any help. I was not prepared for the fact that cochlear parts and upgrades are not covered by insurance. Nor are any of the technology adaptable devices. Basic hearing access and tools for school…also not covered. I was not prepared for the medical co-pays for OT, PT, Speech and Audiology to bring me to thousands of dollars in debt. In addition to the years of payment arrangements made for his brothers care. I was not prepared for his dad to lose his leg in a logging accident and become unemployed and on disability unable to contribute in a financial capacity. And most importantly I was not prepared to take a personal loan out with our car as collateral to be tricked into being told it was a fixed interest when actually accruing, to consolidate debt for yet again more medical procedures.

What I am and was prepared for was to work 3 jobs and 7 days a week. I am prepared to get less than 5 hours of sleep a night and work hard to raise three disabled kids. My oldest was in a car wreck and suffered a horrible TBI and plethora of long lasting physical injuries. In addition to my middle son who is autistic and medically fragile and then my Wolverine of a lil man born profoundly deaf, cross modal, color blind, and also autistic. I feel like I need to attach proof for as crazy as this all sounds. But it is my life. I live it. And still I go to work with a smile everyday, a work ethic that feels uncommon in my generation, a kindness and ability to see others in light of what they need and how I can help and an absolute love of being a mother to my boys. But this can’t be all that is to life? To work so hard to be so broke and never catch up or even catch a tiny bit of a break. I have been making a $700 loan payment each month and  less than $70 is going to principal. I am now 2 months behind and am at serious risk of losing our car. Our life line. There are no more hours in the day I can work and I am here…asking for help. Directly to the loan if preferred, a gas or grocery card or pay pal so that I can get caught up. Hello. I’m 42 and the sole custodial parent of 2 amazing girls that deserve to feel safe and have stable environment for them to grow and become happy and self-sufficient adults. We are recovering from The abuse of a narcissistic and violent partner/parent. There was constant domestic violence and emotional and mental abuse there we dealt with. it has nearly financially completely drained me to get away from the negative situation. We are on the verge of homelessness due to being evicted from a slumlord that abuses people on housing assistance by overcharging for a very small place that’s been massively, neglected by The landlord while he completely ignores any attempt of contact then shows up randomly with Huge late fees, and eviction notices. He then recommended a form of government funding from Covid relief which I thought was him actually trying to help instead it was away for him to collect about $1000 extra a month for five months over the amount of the lease he then evicted us saying that I owed him money, but I actually have 100% proof that he scammed the assistance program and the Covid relief fund. For over $5000, which is why I believe he evicted me to get it behind him so he wouldn’t get in trouble. My finances have Dwindled to zero. I haven’t been able to work consistently and be able to take care of my daughters at the same time. Due to him evicting me I’ve lost my housing assistance. Which has made it extremely hard to work full-time while supporting my girls and trying to keep us in a safe space to sleep. i’m now overridden with anxiety and depression and it’s starting to affect the whole family. Back in November, we were contacted to take in my wife’s two young nieces after her brother was shot and killed by his wife. We agreed because they are family and you take care of family. I was working full-time at the time. We were granted custody of the girls at the end of January and I took bonding leave from work to help get them settled. While I was on bonding leave I started to get dizzy spells and my doctor informed me I would need to be off work until I could get in with the ENT doctor. I wasn’t able to get an appointment until the end of April. I saw the ENT and did some tests. I have to go for one more MRI and then he can give me a definite diagnosis of Menier’s Disease. This disease will cause me to lose my CDL license and make it difficult for me to continue supporting my family. Due to not being able to work, we have fallen behind on rent due to me being out of work and now the owner is going to be selling the house, because of this we have to move to another area in less than a month. We also had our 2 vehicles repossessed this week on top of everything else. Our only other vehicle needs some major repairs that are going to cost around $3000. My work is currently looking for another position that will not require my CDL, but at this time I still have no income and while I wait for the Short Term Disability to be approved, I am unable to look for substantial work. My wife has been applying and interviewing for work but has not secured a position yet. Anything will help us get into another place and make sure there is a roof over the girls heads.

I’m reaching out with humility and hope. I’ve always believed in the power of transformation, and right now, I’m working hard to rebuild my life. But I’ve hit a financial wall that I simply can’t get past without a little help.

After leaving a traditional 9-to-5 job to follow my true calling as a Reiki practitioner and medium, I transitioned into gig work so I could begin building that career. Unfortunately, last year brought a lot of unexpected challenges. Work was very slow in my area, and it became increasingly difficult to stay ahead of bills, credit cards, and especially taxes.
