After months and months of planning a safe escape, and actually getting an order of protection that was not followed… My soon to be exhusband violated the order of protection, attempted to kidnap our toddler, my 16 year old and I were injured in the process trying to prevent him from taking her after he stole my car keys, he almost smacked our daughters head into the corner of the fridge, to which my 16 year old is my hero when she was able to jump in between him and the fridge which stopped my toddler from hitting it. Which is when my scream startled him and he set her down. After convincing him to allow them to go into the other room, he looked at me and said if the cops show up he’d kill me. I just blankly said okay. He then said he would kill everyone in the house as he turned his gaze towards where my daughters just walked.

after what felt like an eternity, and calming talking to him outside, I was able to get my kids outside and the police called. To which he tried to escape out of the back door. The police caught him, and he’s in jail. But if he makes bond, I fear my daughters and I will be his first stop.

We are moving and in the process of getting rid of stuff, putting everything else in storage. I don’t have some magic number that I need, I am still in shock and simply cannot get those words out of my head.

He has stolen every holiday from us since last Halloween. My toddlers 2nd birthday is a month away.

I am already ashamed to even have to post this. But it doesn’t matter, I will do whatever I can to keep my kids alive.

Hello. I am a mother, wife and I work full time. My husband is 100% disabled though the VA. I recently did a debt consolidation through National debt relief. I do not recommend that for anyone. It’s been a long hard process with them getting all my creditors. I know it was totally my responsibility to make sure that every single one was accounted for during this process. Unfortunately one was not and by the time I found out they already approved me for my loan and I have been paying them 250.00 every 2 weeks. When I called them for help in this matter I was told there was nothing they can do until I paid off this loan for my consolidation of debt. I have always been a very hard working man and believe in hard work to get ahead in life coupled with skills! When I married my wife years ago I knew we could make it! Greetings to you all in the precious name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Long Story Short, I am first born of 10 Children and grown up there home in East Africa. I became a believer from Sunday School. As I became teenage things reversed. I was imprisoned. We are told no to call the name of God even forced to deny the existence of God. Many people was shot and killed. There was communist regime who did all these tribulations. I was persecuted lost my father. So I went to Bible School anonymously by the time. But that Bible School finally was closed so my persecution time extended. I am 60 years old now. Imagine I am telling you a story. Because that has laid a foundation for my current personality. After the communist regime in Ethiopia was defeated the so called democratic government arose so I was able to go again second time in my life to go to Seminary. Three years in the Bible School. After graduation there was no employment. For women there is no like opened door in the culture. But I stayed still in my underground ministry. When I was 56 years old I got an opportunity of becoming permanent resident in the United States for I just won a lottery from the Government Diversity Website. Even though I am happy and thankful to God to get this chance I decided to move to New York City. I love this city but life became so hard, and I ended up in the shelter. After 5 years of struggle now I found my studio apartment. I tried to work and earn money as much as I can even I contributed my tithe, offering and gift to rebuild that destructed Church in my childhood because of communist regime, it is never ever forgettable. My siblings also contributed a lot because I motivated them. Now the new Chapel is to be commemorated .I have two purposes to travel, to visit my family after 7 years of departure and to celebrate the reconstructed Church with my birth area community. He was struck with colon cancer and passed,he was 67. Like I was saying grandma didn’t play by the rules meaning everything I was raised to do was taken from me. She told me after the funeral that she was married to Scotty so all was hers.😭…So she had the farm logged,didn’t put the money back into the farm. We had close to 200 head of cattle now we have 7 . Don’t get me wrong or take this the wrong way I love my grandma very much,I just didn’t fill that what she did was rite for the simple fact I would go and set with grandpa every night and we would talk about this stuff. I would say to him should we write this stuff down and he would raise up and look at Granny and say no she wouldn’t do that to you. Granny would shake her head and say nope,so she knew but anyway I made a promise to my grandpa that I would do everything I can to take care of the farm and well that’s not going to well. She has spent the long money and now has dementia. So it is out of her hands and the farm has really went south but don’t forget about that promise. With that said I hope that gives who ever if anyone an idea of where I’m coming from when I ask for help from the people out there who read this..I really want to make the farm what it once was again and show my uncles that plan on selling when Granny passes that it can be something wonderfully again not to mention my kids,kids. I am a disabled veteran drowning in debt from the COVID era thanks to the price and rent hikes during that time period. I was unable to work due to being in school and while I get a disability payment, it’s no where near enough to cover living expenses. As a result, I was reliant upon credit cards for much of my rent payments and car payments and accrued a significant amount of debt over the course of 3 years. The last 5 years have left a profound affect on my mind and heart. Home is where my heart is and my heart is home.  Prior to this time frame, I found myself in many different places. Sometimes with friends, other times with family and other times alone. I began my journey at 20 when I left home to leave an abusive relationship. Three thousand miles away from the home one home I knew. Decisions shape us more than we realize, especially when you make them from your heart with love. My mother was fighting cervical cancer and she would need someone to take care of her, a win win right.  She passed away a year after we moved to take care of her, but my daughter was able to create a bond and share treasured memories with her Grandmother that she appreciates today.  That experience left me forever changed and I have been looking for home again ever since. I say that because through the years I have moved from one place to another because someone I loved has needed me and my heart would answer their call.  Once my daughter left home, we stayed in touch with each other and communicated. She needed me and I came, we roomed together for a year and she found someone to love and married. I rented a room from a friend which turned out to be a nightmare and I eventually ended up paying for a room that I never used due to a toxic environment. Eventually, I moved in with my daughter and son-in-law because she had complications during and after her pregnancy. My son-in-law is military (Navy) and she needed help. Once my granddaughter arrived,  nerve damage was evident and therapy was needed. Both of them are healthier and stronger today. We have moved twice since then. During the pandemic  I would have lost her due to a ruptured appendix  and a hernia. She is still here, I am still here, we are all still here making things work.  I long for my own home now, I have done my due diligence and although my heart would break to leave, they are their own family unit now.

My granddaughter will be turning six this year, I went back to work part-time to help with expenses and still a full-time Grammy . Everyone is working. This Fifty-six year old has been driving since she was sixteen but I have never owned my own car. Driven my Dad’s car, countless friends and family, car rentals to mention a few. I have a flawless driving record and at this point in my life I really need a car. Transportation for my new job as an independent contractor (Spark Driver) would be awesome. My daughter and I share a car, 2008 Honda Civic LX. Since I began driving a year and a half ago, her car is needing more and more maintenance to keep it on the road. I am so very grateful for that car, it has moved us from one place to another so many times I cannot even count. They purchased a Toyota RAV-4 2018  hybrid family car, which they are making good progress to pay off. I love that model it is functional, practical and fuel efficient. I also like the Honda Accord Sport hybrid…the year not sure. I just keep seeing it and thinking one of those would be great too!  I would even be grateful for a 2008 Honda Civic LX driven by a little old lady from Pasadena because that car keeps on going. I wouldn’t have a car payment if I could find one. Well, I have always walked, taken public transportation, buses, trains and ridden a bike to get where I needed to go, even in triple digit heat. Life goes on and I have to keep going too. Even money to fix her car completely so we don’t have to worry about losing income would be great.  There is always hope that things will get better and we work ourselves to the bone and sometimes we seem to be a day late and a dollar short. So there it is…I know someone is listening. I believe in a Creator, I believe in myself and I also believe that there is someone who can and will help me. Thank you for listening. It’s hard to dream big but I have to start somewhere and  a car will put me on the road to bigger and better things.   It will allow me to think bigger and at least to begin again to look for my new home.

Hello my name is Valerie and I am a violence survivor. I was walking to my car and got gunned down in Wilmington Delaware at the age of 40. My injuries were so serious I had a 1% chance of living. The gunshot caused me to have to have 4 blood transfusions I had major surgeries and had to learn to walk again. Lost my home I was renting because I was shot outside of my place of residence. The state of Delaware relocated me and paid my first month rent and security deposit. But I had to find someone who would rent to me with no job and disabled at the time. I slept in my car for months with my injury. Then a lady felt sorry and let me rent her 2 bed Apt inside a Victorian house.My 17 year old son and his girlfriend lived there and helped me survive until I could start driving Lyft just to get by I lived there healing for 6 years . Then out of the blue my landlord sold the house we lived in. Without notice we had to abruptly move and was again homeless. It’s been a year since she sold the house. I haven’t gotten back all the way yet mentally, physically,or financially. I was forced to move back to Delaware were I was almost murdered. They never caught the shooters.
