Help Us Honor and Remember my Grandmother Evelyn Almada – Funeral and Bills Fund

My grandmother Evelyn was a fighter, not just in spirit but also in reality, for she had been battling breast and stomach cancer for the past 5 years. Despite the pain and discomfort, she battled cancer as best as she could. When she was diagnosed in 97, they did surgery on her breast and stomach, and we were all told that “we would be lucky to have her a year and a half” but she battled for 5 years instead.
Part of the reason my grandma was trying to fight cancer as best as she could was because of my uncle Steven. When my uncle was born blue, she almost lost him along with herself during delivery. My uncle had issues when he was in school and was advised to be evaluated but my grandmother chose otherwise and kept him sheltered. My uncle lived with my grandmother all his life and took care of her during her battle with cancer. I would be the one who would take my grandmother out (she never drove) to run errands, go to appointments, or just get her out of the house.
My grandmother and uncle were living off her social security benefits and if there was anything else they needed I would take care of it. Since my grandmother had gotten sick, I tried to get her to ask her about my uncle and what would happen to him if anything happened, but in her heart, she just felt like everything would work itself out.
My grandmother passed away and now I am the one to try to take care of my uncle as best as I can under the circumstances. There is no income coming in for my uncle, he is 64 years old and I am trying to figure out what he can qualify for but everyone has told me that he needed to be seen and diagnosed when he was a child. Since my uncle tends to act like a child, I have to gently get him to understand the things that has to be done. He has never had a checking account, has no idea what to do with a debit card, I had to get him an updated birth certificate to get him an ID, etc. I have had to take care of my grandmothers’ funeral arrangements and now I must take care of my uncle until I can hopefully get him situated and hopefully get him some kind of income. I recently had my hours cut at work which has but even more of a financial strain on me during this time.
I would appreciate any help that I can get while I get myself full-time income to help pay for everything that was left for me to manage. Thank you.

STORY TIME: Up to My Neck in Debt But Willing To Work

Hello, I’m just going to be vulnerable here. I’ve been a bit apprehensive to ask for help on this because I’ve always been one to try and fix things on my own for myself… while helping other people. But I realize the value of asking for help. You’ll see what I mean….

Background:

I’m currently $24k+ in debt and my credit cards have been eating me alive. Why? Over the past 2 years and and some change, I’ve been too ‘helpful’ with some people. For years, I understood good financial stewardship, read Rich Dad, Poor Dad, Richest Man in Babylon, etc. to keep my knowledge flowing and applied myself. Come 2021-2022, I was finally able to keep at least $1,000 in my bank account for emergencies.

I have always been compassionate and empathetic. My dream, despite my current situation, has always been to give freely without expecting anything in return. While my heart was in the right place, my wisdom was put aside when in some situations I let myself ‘bless people’ too early before I had more than enough for us both. Let me explain….

The Beginning of the Issue:

In late 2021, I started a company with someone I knew. We’ll call them Bee. Bee and I connected with two real estate ladies we’d met for a turn-key unit in Texas we’d use as an Airbnb Vacation Rental in early 2022. During this time, I wasn’t financially unstable, and actually put in 90% of the funds despite owning half of that LLC.

To furnish the unit and pay for the service, it was $8.4k we’d owe the turnkey property managers. So I spoke with Bee and two investors who gave us a little less than half of that, and I ended up paying the rest with a credit card I had.

That was fine, it didn’t mess me up or anything right away and I met the goal of getting cash back from that transaction…. However, the debt-to-income ratio wasn’t as ideal as we had hoped about 2 months in. I managed the pricing of the unit and did extensive testing, but for the whole year, no one would book for above a certain amount per night.

This led to me having to pay out of pocket when we weren’t booked, along with cleaner fees (and please believe me, out of the 7 or 8 that were in our unit, only 2 of them could be trusted and it cost me). Since for we weren’t cash-flowing, rent became solely my responsibility since Bee was not able to pay for much.

Utilities, internet, emergencies, management system costs, travel, guest amenities, they all fell to me. I came out a little worse for wear through all this at the end of 2022, but was still afloat enough to take care of myself. Then…

I met someone:

He seemed to have been accosted by the pandemic and was just on the brink of an eviction. A thing about me is people with depression… I care about them a lot. Not that I don’t care about other people, but I just have a soft spot because I dealt with that too. And even if it isn’t fully absent in my life, I still want to be there for others who struggle with it if they’ll allow me.

I don’t really know if I should go into detail with this one. All I can say is that I didn’t just ‘shower him with money and gifts because he had depression’; at seldom times when talked about not being able to eat/not having food, I would offer assistance. I bought him a car to live in, as he no longer had anywhere to go. I helped him get a job. All this is still 2022 when I still have the Airbnb sucking the grief out of me.

He is no longer in my life and I’ve learned from that situation. I’ve taken responsibility for being too frivolous when it comes to people. Yes, “people” because I have been kind to my friends and family too.

“People”:

I had another friend who experienced homelessness and was forced to live in their car in early 2023. I helped pay for their apartment which they still reside in and they’ve been going strong at an Amazon Warehouse. :) He insists on paying me back for his car’s down payment. He has been paying me back in small increments while keeping himself abreast. This has helped me pay small amounts back to my CCs, but not by too much with the interest.

Speaking of Family…

My family has needed things in the past, but what I would mainly help with were car troubles and food. I would end up using my credit cards to help them while waiting for them to pay me back “next check” which some of my CC bills got higher and stayed that way just from that.

I still paid on these with what I would get from furniture rehab, snow plowing, some jobs such as Amazon, a Pizza joint, etc., but some bills remained unfazed. It got to the point where some of them took advantage of my generosity and would keep asking. It was my fault and issue for accepting in good faith.

My Current Finances:

I have gone from job to job, currently working at a UPS warehouse and making less than $280/wk from that as it is a seasonal position. Everything I’ve been making has been going to the high interest credit card debt I have been faithfully paying each month on multiple cards.

Now, one of my cards requires over $300/mo to pay the minimum and I truly don’t have any money left. I’ve helped and helped, but when I’ve asked my family, they weren’t there for me. I don’t entirely blame them, I understand adulthood is about learning from your lessons. I especially don’t blame them for my mistakes nor anyone for how I was too helpful.

I’ve learned this year that in order to help others, I shouldn’t go out of my way to make sure they’re well before I am– how can I go anywhere if the cart’s before the horse? I don’t intend to become selfish or miserly toward people, but I can promise myself this… first, the way I allowed myself and my finances to be used and abused will never happen again. Second, I just can’t be everyone’s hero.

Some Other Reasons My Debt is So High:

  • No longer have healthcare, so I have out-of-pocket medical bills that are on a payment plan, thus taking more out of me per month.
  • In my pursuit of entrepreneurship, I’d invested money and time into different avenues that have not yielded a return.
  • The Investors have been gracious, but I am still paying them back.
  • I don’t watch much TV and have maybe 3 subscriptions. The rest are bills.
  • Gas & car maintenance.

Screenshots:

Proof of my debt is found in the screenshots. I currently have $79 in my bank account and it has just been a mess. If this served as nothing more than a cautionary tale for being too helpful, then I’m glad I could entertain you. God bless you.

Electricity will be shut off in less than a week!!

  • Hi, my name is Kay. A few months ago, I found myself in a terrible financial crisis. My fiance and I had gone into business with an acquaintance and began renting a room from him. Well, long story short, 4 months after that, we had a disagreement with his business partner, and we found ourselves being thrown out onto the street, all of our business taken, and our name being trashed. Basically, this guy who had absolutely no experience or contacts in the construction field had used my fiance to learn the ropes, land a few solid jobs, and get some contacts in the field. Once we had several thousands dollars worth of jobs lined up and as soon as he felt confident in his own ability to bid, he backed out of our agreement, and threw us out as though we were trash, all while trashing our business name, basically ensuring that we couldn’t land jobs. Shortly afterwards, my fiance was unexpectedly incarcerated, and how to do a few months for an old misdemeanor ticket. So, that left me alone, living out of my car with my dog… I’m finally able to get a hold of a friend, who introduced me to a wonderful woman, who let me stay at her house. She is on disability, still works part-time, with two beautiful daughters, and in a bunch of animals including chickens pigs and a bunch of dogs. Well I just found out that she has an electric bill that is insanely high, and owes the electric company over $10,000, and she has been arguing with them for months trying to find assistance trying to get it the bill lowered, but they are going to shut us off in the next week if we can’t make a payment. She has asked for assistance, but nothing has panned out. I am creating this in hopes that someone might be able to help her, as she was so willing to help me in my time of need. (I swear if I was in a position to give it to her I so would however, Im destitute and have no idea what I’m going to do once my fiance is released) anyway thank you for reading and we would appreciate any help!!! God bless and thank you!!
  • The company is black hills electric
  • She doesn’t know I am asking for help, she probably wouldn’t, but we need help honestly…

Single full-time father in need.

Hey! My name is Jimmy and I’m 38 years old. I’ll start by giving background about myself. My five year old son lives with me, full-time. I was diagnosed with narcolepsy 13 years ago. I am a law enforcement officer and have worked for my current employer for ten years. The area I live in is very poverty stricken and that has a direct impact on the hourly wage that I am paid. After paying bills, there isn’t a whole lot of money left over to build up savings or have an emergency fund. Let alone extra money for special occasions or a random toy here and there for my son. My father lives close to me and babysits for me when needed. Many days, I only eat supper but I do make sure that my son gets all the meals that he needs.

The things that I need money for:

My house is in desperate need of maintenance and repairs. I do not have central air, so I have to use window a/c and fans to try and keep the house cool in the summer. The interior needs renovation on the walls, cabinets, proper weatherization, and a couple of new windows. To top it all off, I woke up to the sound of water dripping and found a nice puddle of water on the floor due to my roof leaking.

My car needs new tires. It also needs regular maintenance like brakes and an oil change. I think it’s been three years since I’ve been able to change the oil.

My son could definitely use some new clothes. I bought him some at the beginning of the school year, but more variety would be nice. I only have one pair of jeans and they have a significant amount of holes in them.

I am not eligible for public assistance due to my gross annual income (just under 40k)  but deductions such as taxes, health insurance premium, and retirement take about 40 percent of my check. I don’t drink alcohol or smoke cigarettes. Nor do I use street drugs. I don’t spend my money recklessly, but food and other necessary utilities wipe me out.

All money received will go to all the things I spoke about. Thank you for your time and have a great day!

Please Help! I Need A Hand Up

The last 3 years have changed my life. I’ve worked as an RN for the past 15 years. I’ve worked in ER, in a care home, ophthalmology, surgery, and medicine. I have even worked 1 year in Saudi Arabia 12 years ago. It’s safe to say I feel confident in my practice.

At the time when the Covid Pandemic started in 2020, I was working as a casual staff where I provided relief for staff that go on vacation or are sick. For 3-4 months when the Covid Pandemic started in 2020, I was lucky if I got 1 -2 shifts a month. I had to utilize the CERB assistance during that time to pay rent and cover other bills. Later in 2020, I got a temporary full-time position. In a span of a year, I was seeing so many changes in regard to policies being pushed out in the hospital I worked in and the other facilities in my area, that it was negatively affecting the care being provided.

I had to make a choice as a healthcare professional if I was going to go along with these changes, knowing it was going against the ethics and nursing standards that have been laid out for many years. I chose to advocate for patient safety. I was ridiculed, bullied, harassed, and eventually fired from my position. Those decisions cost my career. My employer submitted a complaint to my regulatory body about conducting myself unprofessionally, which forced me to give up my license to practice.

During my career as an RN, I wanted to start a real estate investing business and had successfully purchased a rental income property several years. However, since losing my nursing job, I had to sell my rental property just to cover my rent and bills until I could find any job. I had applied for a loan over a year ago and it’s still pending. That delay has really messed me up in the ability to move forward. I’m now facing eviction at the end of November. For the past 2 years, I’ve been trying to find a job and I just recently obtained one as a caregiver, which is a far cry from being an RN. As a result, my rent and bills are mounting. I feel like I’m drowning and it’s very overwhelming at times. I would appreciate a hand up so I don’t lose my place.

I’m asking for $30K to help clear things off and get me back on solid footing. I definitely appreciate more than ever the stress of being behind and potentially losing everything. It’s changed my outlook on things. I’ll definitely pay it forward and help others on this website once I get out of this stressful situation. Thanks so much!

Drowning in Debt from Living Expenses

I am in a very severe bind.  I tried to turn to other people including family for help but have been turned down.  When I say “no one to turn to” I mean no one.  My life is definitely going to spiral downwards when it comes to my finances.

In 2017, I was working for Microsoft for 2 years and it was wonderful.  Great people, great pay and things were finally starting to look up.  However, tragedy struck in 2019 when I was diagnosed with epilepsey and could no longer work.  Prior to 2017, I have been consistenly in therapy and psychiatry and on medication and have since returned in order to get my life back on track and improve my relationships with others and coping skills.  Thankfully, that has been the case and I even have been able to befriend more positive people instead of the negative people I once had in my life.

My whole life I endured intense mental, emotional and verbal abuse from my father.  I know that is why I had low self-esteem and why I allowed so many negative people into my life to hurt me the way he did.  I stopped all contact with him and them and had my last name changed due to not wanting to have anything to do with the man.  My mother has been disabled since she was 36 years old and is now confined to a wheelchair.  I’ve been getting some money from social security as well as taking various jobs to at least pay down some of my debt that came from buying necessities on my credit cards and student loans in order to get an education as my father cheated my mother out of child support when my brother and I were small.  He refused to work because he knew he would have to provide the support to her so did that just to spite her.  My grandfather always helped us all the time until his passing in 2012 with necessities.  I look up to him and miss him still to this day.

However, it is just not enough.  I am really hurting and I am desperately seeking any amount of contribution.  I always believed in paying it forward and helping others.  It is something that has held me together for many years while struggling to make ends meet and still does to this day.  Even though I am unable to help financially at this point, I always have helped others with what amount I could because I believe no one should have to struggle on a daily basis.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this.  I appreciate and am grateful for you in doing so.

Help me pay off all my debts and prevent my daughter and I from being evicted from our flat.

Dear All,

I hope my message finds you well and in good health.

I’m writing this letter with a sense of urgency. I’ve had to work on myself in order to dare to ask for help, feeling obliged to share the financial difficulties I’m currently facing.

I’ve been bringing up my daughter alone since she was born 14 years ago. She’s a teenager who lights up my life with her presence. She’s affectionate, lively, cheerful and loves to laugh…
I’ve done my best to keep these qualities in her, but things have become very difficult.

Since the Covid period, I haven’t been able to get back on track and I’m currently going through a particularly difficult time. I’m in such dire financial straits that we’re in danger of being evicted from our flat because I’m several months behind with my rent. This is on top of the fact that I already had several thousand euros in consumer credit. With not enough money coming in, due to a lack of customers, I could no longer pay my bills or provide for our needs properly.
I found myself borrowing money from family and friends to cover at least our basic needs, hoping that in the meantime my financial situation would improve. But it didn’t.

Right now, I’m faced with the huge challenge of finding 25,000 euros. This sum would not only enable me to repay my debts and pay the rent in arrears, which would prevent us from being evicted, but would also create a small safety net for our future expenses. It would also give me the breathing space I need to move forward. Yes, I’m hopeful, as a life coach. I help a lot of people around me.
However, the current financial instability is causing a lot of stress in my life, which makes it difficult for me to concentrate effectively on finding strategies to turn my business around and rebuild a better future.

My daughter can see that something is going on. I don’t want to tell her about my serious financial difficulties. I don’t want to risk taking away her beautiful smile.
It’s hard enough having to say ‘no’ when she asks me for something I can’t give her when she needs it. I don’t want to put the weight of this situation on her fragile teenage shoulders. I especially don’t want to tell her that we’re in danger of being evicted from our flat.

So I’ve learnt to put my pride aside and turn to you, to ask for your financial support to manage the situation I’m in at the moment while I look forward to my situation improving.

Your financial support is crucial. It would really make an incredible difference to our lives and would mean a lot to us.

So it’s with deep and sincere hope that I turn to you and appeal to your kindness and generosity. With your help I’ll be able to embrace a debt-free future, peacefully considering a strategy for running my life coaching business with a new sense of freedom and renewed confidence in life.
And who knows, I might be in your shoes one day, helping other people financially, just as you might be doing for me today.
Then I’ll feel I’ve repaid my debt.

I sincerely thank you for considering my request, and I very much hope that you will support my daughter and me.

Stolen Car Impound Fees

The situation involving my stolen car has undoubtedly caused immense disruption to my daily life and has created a significant emotional and financial burden. Given that the impound has made the release of my vehicle contingent upon providing proof of active insurance, it has become imperative to secure the necessary funds to meet this requirement.

The impound fees, compounded by the costs of towing and storage, can quickly escalate, adding to the financial strain I am already experiencing. Failure to retrieve my car promptly from the impound could result in additional fees and penalties, further exacerbating my financial predicament.

Furthermore, the requirement to reinstate my car insurance before retrieving my vehicle is not only a legal necessity but also a practical one. Operating a vehicle without insurance not only leaves me vulnerable to potential legal consequences but also exposes me to significant financial liabilities in the event of any accidents or damages.

By providing an emergency financial donation, I would have the means to cover the expenses required to release my car from impound, ensuring I can regain access to my essential mode of transportation. Additionally, this donation would enable me to reinstate my car insurance, thereby safeguarding me against potential financial risks and legal implications associated with driving without proper coverage.

In summary, the emergency financial donation would serve as a vital lifeline, allowing me to address the immediate financial obligations necessary to retrieve my stolen car from the impound and reinstate my mandatory car insurance. This support would not only alleviate my current financial distress but also provide me with the means to overcome these obstacles and regain my mobility and financial stability.  @DMF210

Family Struggling to Survive After 2 Wife’s Grandmother’s Death, Job Loss, and High Student Loan Debt

I am writing to request your help during a time of extreme financial hardship. My wife’s two grandmothers recently passed away as well as dealing with a loss of a miscarriage, and I have had to take a significant amount of time off from work to support her family. Additionally, I have been laid off from my full-time job and other part-time jobs that I was relying on to supplement my income. As a result, I am struggling to pay my bills, including my car note, rent, and everyday living expenses. I am currently working part-time, but it is not enough to cover our expenses.

We both have a large amount of student loan debt, which is making it difficult to get back on my feet. I am working hard to find full-time employment, but it is challenging due to the current economic climate.

We have exhausted all of our savings and have no other options for assistance. We are humbly asking for your help to get through this difficult time. Any donation, no matter how small, would be greatly appreciated. Your donation will help us to cover our basic expenses and give us a chance to get back on our feet. Thank you for your generosity and support.
