My house is basically collapsing in the center.  The floors are weak and uneven.  The floors and ceiling are gradually detaching from the walls, making it very drafty and greatly increasing the electric bill.   The contractor’s assessment was that the seals and beams under the house need to be replaced and the house needs to be lifted back into place.  This will cost approximately $8,500 to depending on the materials used.

I have been out of work for two years and have no income because of a hip injury.  I have a pending disability case for this injury but it could take another 7 to 12 months for a decision, and even then, it may not be in my favor.

Doctors have me on a list for hip replacement surgery in the next 3 to 4 months and it would be a ideal to have the floors even and other repairs complete before the surgery date.

Financial assistance for these repairs would be a major burden lifted.

Where to even begin? Lets begin with the month of Oct, as it was horrific & is still continuing on….

My 3 minis & I had left behind our old lives due to feeling scared of an ex of mine still having keys to the home I had rented. (Thankfully he wasn’t ever put on my lease so it was easy to kick him out physically with the help of the p.d after physical abuse was reported for my oldest daughter.

We moved shortly after to what I thought was going to be a wonderful new start. Boy howdy was I wrong! On top of paying to move states away, I was asked to pay over 3500 on a security deposit. Which I thought was really odd bc I had good credit & rental history, but I did due to the tranquility the house provided for us & not to mention after viewing so many in such a short period of time with the way the housing market is if you didn’t put in an application the houses seemed to go next day. This one we all fell in love with. Also made a really good friend already after only 2 weeks there which is a neighbor. (God send!!)

However upon the day of moving in, the sewer was clogged causing it to overflow in the master bath from the toilet & tub as well as the washer line. Next day, both reps came out & in person seen the flooding in the laundry room. I was assured someone would be out same day to repair & clean the mess. No one was, but next day was the floor flooding in the master bathroom. Sent photos to 1 rep, the only one responding back to me at this point, & he put in for emergency services. Someone did come out next day to snake both lines, but was a 2 day fix with the request not to use the washer line. Reported it again, took 2 weeks for someone to come out to do the same thing, then a week later camera the line to see huge cracks in the line for thr master, but did remedy the washer line. (Woo-hoo as laundry doesn’t wait, especially for kids!) Super grateful for that fix, but I was told no solids for my bathroom. So at this point I’m paying 2100 to live like I’m camping. Very unhygienic & if you even have one younger child then you know that magically they have to use the toilet in emergency status any time you need to go! Lol so imagine 3 times that….

It has been one month and 3weeks now living like this. My only options here in the great state of FL is to send a letter to the rental company to notify them to remedy the entire issue within 7 days or I can then legally “withhold rent” or can opt to move. Now mind you I had already shelled out over 5500 to even move in & since this all started, (there were also other maintenance issues to be fixed added), I am self employed, but this caused me to not be able to work most all of the month of Oct due to having to be home pretty much the whole day on almost every other day so someone could come here to work on something or cleaning up messes from the overflowing. So neither remedy is going to help as I have at this point 500 to my name left which will be gone day after Thanksgiving to car insurance. (The “rent withholding” only means it’s all due in back- pay once the issues are fixed) which obviously I don’t have as well.

Then of course I thought I had found my absolute God send. A guy offering to pay my credit cards for me. Long story short there all accounts said processing only to find out after doing so he tried to get me to send him $ thru the available funds a couple showed in an apple gift card or currency exchange on bitcoin. Now mind you, I’m not stupid by any means & knew at this point it was a scam. He then threatened to call his bank to file fraud, but after that threat I did just that. Notified them myself of this incase he tried. Efforts were futile as they all came back reversed/returned. When i called both companies to explain the situation I was informed it was done so bc of nsf, not on fraud. Which both I guess had in their policies if this were to happen, my accounts were then all closed. So now I’m out over 6k I was able to rely on for my assistance with finances. Nothing I can do about it either.

I have since then been trying to find another job, but would have to be part time due to no family or friends I could have watch my 3 to work average hours, let alone if any or all get sick & had to stay home. No luck there & in order to do more than just a small scope for under 300 a job here, I have to take tests & pay for licensing, test fees, business ins, workers comp & more to even do what I do for a living. Smh

I am writing up the 7day notice today, but all that will do at most is stall on payment for rent. Money I still owed on my c.c’s are now due in full (4850), rent (2100), car payment (650 & also going on 2 moths behind on), utilities (400) & ins (550) all due again here real soon. I would like to think it couldn’t get any worse, but being homeless along with my car being repoed while living in it with my 3 right before Xmas would def be the cherry on top.

I have done all I can with the state for assistance. 108 is what they offer in tanf for 0 income even after giving them the numbers on my bills… idk how even a single person could survive a month on that for all necessities let alone additions with kids, even just 1! No financial help from their father for the last 8 years either as he made sure he lives in a state where he cannot be touched more or less.

I was going to see if I can get a pell grant for a nail tech cert & operate from my residence for no extra expenses incurred, but that takes time. As all paperwork does… so here I am. Asking for help from total strangers for the welfare of my kids. I won’t ever give up trying to provide for them on my own, but damn could I use some assistance from an angel right about now.

All I can hope for is a blessing & that maybe this story has made someone else realize their life isn’t as bad as they think bc no matter what, someone somewhere has is harder than you!!! So please learn to be grateful for at least the time we have here to spend with the ones we love. Especially around the holidays as my love for my 3 will hopefully be enough for them this year.

First I want to thank you in advance for helping people like myself in out extreme time of need I am also that person who takes care of others and have all of my life. My situation started a few years ago when I separated from my husband 15 yrs married 18 years together. At the same time being a mother to 4 sons I was left with all of the bills and debt. On top of that my dad had already fallen ill and passed away not even 4 months later. That was the worse and hardest time of my life plus everything continuing to pile up on me. Fast forward to this year tragedy struck again when I almost lost my mom (a diabetic) that was hospitalized in May 2023 with sepsis infection. She was in ICU for almost 2 weeks, it started out as a huge boil which she had to have 2 emergency surgeries to clean out most of the infection in it. The wound was right below her pelvis bone inner thigh and it was so big you could put your whole fist inside. I took off work for several weeks without pay because my mom had to have 24 hour care and finally had one of my sons do the mornings and I was there after work and all nights. Plus with me also taking care of our family dog at my house who was almost 15 yrs old and was very ill. This was very overwhelming for me and I actually made the decision to put him down on 7/31/23 he was tired and in constant pain. I also had to rush to pack and move all of my stuff into storage to move in with my mom to continue to be there and care for her. What’s worse is I have a program at work (16 yrs working there) but was turned down for assistance because my mom was not my dependent. I told them she is my dependent now because of the circumstances and I provided all proof of everything but still they denied me because she was not my dependent on my last years taxes. I’m $90,000 just in debt alone I do have my 2006 vehicle but keep shelling out plenty of funds to keep it running because I can not afford anything else now. I haven’t had time to greave from loss after loss that I finally started counseling because of it all. I just want to pay off all of this debt and be able to buy a better vehicle to last me. I fell more behind when my mom fell ill plus buying and paying for her medical supplies and needs. I am 42 years old. I have been married for almost 4 years. My husband and I have known each other since high school, but we hadn’t seen each other for 20 years when we went on our first date. I had just gone through a heartbreaking divorce and putting myself out there again was hard. I went on the date and we had a lot of fun. I ended up falling in love with him and we eventually got married. It wasn’t until we got married that I realized he wasn’t at all who I thought he was. The physical abuse started, and I completely lost myself. The manipulation was so bad, but at first I didn’t realize it and I’m still very confused all the time because of gaslighting.  I finally have the courage to leave, but since I’ve been with him, I haven’t worked, I’ve completely isolated myself from everyone and I am also without a vehicle. Right now my husband is driving me back-and-forth every other week so that I can help my son with my grandson.. I watch him every other week while my son works, so it’s hard to get an 8 to 5 job. Hello.. My name is Stephanie Lorentz. I’m 46 yrs old and live in Lawton, Okla.  I have two kids. Mikey, 19 & Emily 14.  They currently stay with my (soon to be exes mom, he’s currently in prison & we are separated for some yrs now.) 

Since, 2019, My life has completely left me with nothing. Everything I owned has been taken from me numerous times because when my “husband” went  to prison, his choices left me with nothing. I’ve been trying to stand on my feet alone with absolutely no help. And I keep getting pushed back down. I’m currently in a shell of a house, no toilet, no fridge, no stove, no lights, no heat, no water, ect.

Only useable rooms are 2 bedrooms that windows are busted out of. It’s cold outside. It’s me and my dog. And the owner of this house. I am very thankful to have a roof over my head. For sure.

I’m coming to this platform in hopes that someone will find it in their heart to help me out, weather it be with actual money so I can rent a room at a motel weekly or help with some sort of shelter for me and my dog. It’s Holiday time, and being in my situation is very upsetting to them. Me as well. My health isn’t the greatest and my mental health isn’t either due to all the stress and abuse I’ve been thru.

• On September a family of four lost everything we owned, what we were able to salvage was stolen out of the U-Haul the very next night even our doorbell was stolen. We are so heartbroken that people could do this to a family that just about lost everything they owned and almost our lives that morning.. Red Cross which we have donated thousands too over the years gave us 280 dollars. Also heartbreaking.. We have four dogs, 2 cats, and a bird “all rescues” and no where to go. We had a at home business for 16 years that is gone now that our house is. We thought we were covered with our insurance, we were wrong :-(. Alstate should be ashamed of them selves.. 16 year policy denied.. Any help would be greatly appreciative, thank you! We lived 3.1 miles from the fire station but it took them 20 min to show up, also heartbreaking :-(
