As a single mother of two wonderful children, this time of the year holds a special place in our hearts, but unfortunately, unforeseen circumstances have placed us in a challenging financial situation.
Earlier this year, I experienced the loss of my employment, which has had a profound impact on our family’s financial stability. The sudden change in our circumstances has made it difficult for me to provide the Christmas experience that my children deserve. While I have been actively searching for new employment opportunities, the job market has proven to be competitive, and securing a position that aligns with my skills and experience has been a formidable challenge.  To keep some type of income coming in, I have been driving for two companies and was making enough money to cover some of the basics.  In the past few months for Door dash,  it has been slow in my area and  I’m only making enough to cover for gas and  with Grubhub, recently in October lmy license was suspended due to failure to keep insurance so my driving privileges with Grubhub has been temporarily suspended. ( I was able to make enough to have my license reinstated and now I’m waiting on Grubhub to reinstate my driving privileges; it’s been almost a month. ) My car need repairs so I’m having to drive a friend car while she at works, but that’s only during the day so I’m limited to my availability to drive until I get my car repaired.
Losing my job has not only disrupted our daily routine but has also strained our financial resources. The sudden reduction in income has made it difficult to cover basic living expenses, let alone the budget for holiday gifts. As a result, I am faced with the heartbreaking reality that my children might not experience the joy and excitement that typically accompanies the festive season.
My children are bright, resilient and full of optimism. They have been my greatest source of strength throughout this difficult period.  As a  mother, my first instinct is to shield my children from the harsh realities of our changed circumstances.   It breaks my heart to see their expectations for Christmas dampened by the financial constraints we are currently facing.  However, as Christmas is approaching, I’m realizing that I need to reach out for support.  I am determined to do my best to ensure that my children’s spirits remain high despite the challenges we are navigating.

I understand that this is a time of year when many are facing their own financial burdens and I appreciate your consideration of my request. Your generosity would be more then financial  relief, also bringing joy to my children’s hearts but would also alleviate some of the stress and anxiety that I have been grappling with as a single mother striving to make ends meet.  The funds raised will be used to cover essential needs such as car repairs, groceries, rent, utility bills, and, most importantly, to ensure that my children have a Christmas to remember. writing to you to ask for help monetarily.  My husband has stage 4 Prostate Cancer and Stage 4 Bone Cancer.  It’s called Non Castrative Metastatic Cancer and it is a death sentence. He just turned 56. I am 49, about to turn 50.  We are older parents with younger kiddos. Son Benjamin is 15 and troubled due to his dads illness and my daughter Zoe who just turned 14 and is also having difficulties coping. We are on year 5 of Kyle’s diagnosis and he’s in the last trial through UMMC. We live 75 miles from his oncologist at University of Maryland Medical Center. He is rapidly declining.  Because he’s on a trial, Hospice cannot help. All my life and my husbands life we have worked.  June 2022 was my last day of working because my son was out of control with his emotions and tried to take his own life. I had to leave my job because he didn’t have any parental Support.   He is getting SSDI as do my children but without another income, we are severely struggling.  We are blessed that we have a home that was willed to my husband. But we only get $3k a month for a family of 4.  I’m extremely ADHD so I also applied for disability, which I was instructed too by the local Commission on Aging. So we are down a salary of $45k a year.  Our car broke down, our HVAC went out. Boy when it rains it pours. Back in winter of 2022, we had to commit our son to a mental hospital for 6 weeks.  This was after he wanted to take his own life by overdosing on drugs. And this stuff goes in the school bathrooms.  We have had severe difficulty getting ahead, can’t save at all because there’s always something going on that requires money. Money we do not have. We now have state insurance and it’s great but the dental stinks. I have over $15 k worth of dental work that needs done. That’s really just the beginning. Our home is starting to deteriorate because my handyman husband can no longer do any laborious work.  Hyper inflation is killing us with food costs and such. I eventually plan on going back to work but I’m caretaking for my husband as well as taking my son to and from psychology appointments to drug abuse therapy.  We are having difficulties making ends meet, keeping ourselves healthy, our house falling into disrepair, our vehicle in the shop. He had to take the last of his 401K money so that we had a vehicle that was safe and was/is reliable. I suffer from ADHD  and Depression.  My son suffers the same.  We were turned down for assistance locally for food stamps because we own a house.  How awful is that?  I do want to get back into the workforce eventually but I am stuck because I have to run my husband to Baltimore frequently as well the running for my son’s appointments.   Every month we are in the red via our bank account.  Bar none this is a hellish nightmare I would not wish upon my worst enemy. We can’t travel for fun ( I know that’s a luxury, but I think too with families that are in a similar situation need to get their families out and do fun things or take a trip as it is good for making memories and alleviate some of the stresses that we cope with on a daily basis). We are unable to take our dog to the vets. It’s just awful.  We are extremely down on our luck with all of this going on.  I struggle daily to get myself up just to get kiddos ready for school.  We desperately need help.  I desperately need help to be able to help my kiddos, my husband, my entire family unit

I am 21 years old, I lost my father who was my best friend in October due to lung cancer. I am also 6 months pregnant at the moment. My mother was struggling with the bills for the funeral as well as medical bills. I helped her pay them by using my savings because it felt like what was right. Back on the first of July 2023, I became unable to stand on my feet for any amount of time. Due to Chronic Venous insufficiency of the lower extremities. It’s my fault I knew for a year and a half something was wrong but I wouldn’t take off work to go to the Dr. I wish I would have now. I have had ulcers on my lower legs so bad they took months for me to heal. finally got so bad the swelling I couldn’t put my work boots on. So now I have to mostly keep my feet elevated “toes to nose” is what the Dr. calls it. To me, it’s a nightmare that I can’t stand. I have worked hard all my life since I was 16 years old. Now 47. I’m the type that will eat standing up, and watch a movie standing up. I know that may sound weird to some but it’s just how I have always been. I was always on the go doing whatever I could to make an extra dollar. I used to believe I was invincible. turns out I’m not. I have a wonderful wife who always has a positive outlook no matter what the situation is and a 12-year-old son who would give anyone the shirt off his back. He used to always ask me for money but never wanted it for nothing he would say Hey Dad can I work in the yard or something or wash the car i need 20 bucks. of course, I would say yes you can. After a while, I started thinking about what was he buying I never saw anything new that he bought. turns out he was giving it to friends whose parents couldn’t afford to purchase games or whatever it may be his friends would talk about. I’m so proud of him. Anyway, now I’m one of those parents. I never thought I would be in a situation where bills are stacking up with no money coming in except what little my wife makes bless her heart she was always a stay-at-home mother because our son does virtual school. I have signed up for my disability but that takes months to get approved. I’m not going to stay like this. I will get better and I will be back to work. all of this is going to be temporary even though the doctor says differently. the first doctor I saw mentioned amputation. I never went back to him. Even if I get my disability it’s just to hold me over until I can go back to work. I have to believe that way because it can be no other way for me. I can’t do this sitting around doing nothing . I know sometimes we fall but we have to get back up no matter what the odds are. I had money saved that I had been living off of. I thought I would be back to work by now. I’m completely broke bills are due and Christmas is right around the corner. The last thing I wanted to do was ask for help and I understand there are people out there who need it worse than myself. I just don’t know what else to do. I’m telling you with every ounce of power in me I will get back on my feet and back to work. When I do I’m going to focus more on helping others.
