Gambling Recovery
Hello all, I feel a little cowardly to be on a website asking for money for this but here is my situation.
I am an 18-year-old university student who has been struggling with gambling since I was 15 years old.
I have been losing every dime I made for the last 3 almost 4 years and I have now decided to make a change in my life. (a little late I know)
At one point in time, I was stealing money from my father (who isn’t a great guy either but besides the point)
Addiction therapy where I live is not cheap (about $200 a session) and I currently am making what I can being a part-time business owner or side gig of detailing cars while also attending classes. it averages out to about 500-700 a month.
This is to cover groceries and gas monthly (my parents pay my rent of $800)
I am currently about $2100 in credit card debt (and rapidly increasing)
I know this sounds like a pity paragraph and I agree I’d look at it that way too. My goal is to continue therapy and pay my dad back by the end of the year, so if you have gone through any situation like this and can find it in your heart thank you.
I’m gambling free for about 12 days now and I feel great, I’ve paid for 1 therapy session myself but I won’t be able to sustain it.
Thank you for your time.

Young Working Couple Drowning in Debt
Hi everyone, we are a young couple with no financial help and sinking in an ocean of debt. Accumulated student loans and early on poor decisions have us way behind where we need to be financially and we have worked extremely hard just to make ends meet. My partner studies countless hours in college and works on the side and I put in almost fifty hour weeks and it seems we’re continually sliding downward.
For the last three years we’ve been saving every dime we can save, not eating on days we “haven’t been hungry”, refrained from buying new clothing even when some clothes are worn out completely. The list goes on when it comes to what we don’t do or don’t buy, but most importantly what’s being affected is our health. Lack of money means we haven’t been able to see doctors, get medication, get treatment for illnesses. Plain and simple, we’re going downhill fast any way you look at it.
We have spent the better part of the last few years going through debt programs and ending up getting scammed (multiple times), been through multiple budgets all to which have failed with increasing interest on loans and debts. In the long run, just trying to get out of debt has put us even farther in it which makes it increasingly harder to get out of. We wouldn’t be asking for help if we truly didn’t see any other option. Ashamed as we are, we just hope to climb out of this hole alive and able to live a normal simple life. We both look forward to a brighter future but it gets really hard to keep going with the giant storm cloud we have over our heads.
Our story probably rings true with a lot of young adults so we just hope this story runs across someone who can somewhat understand and relate to our situation. Unfortunately we don’t have any financial help from friends or families so we don’t know where we’ll be in a year or even shorter. I hate saying it but we sit at $36,000 in debt just to put out the number. I don’t expect to raise near that but if we could it would be life changing. Anything helps and in our situation I greatly mean anything. If you can’t help I completely understand, just taking the time to read this means something. To finish I’ll say this, any help we can get just know it’s appreciated more than you could fathom and one day we hope to pay it forward. Thank you for your time.

Light up my kids face this xmas
I am a single mum of 3 respectful, well-mannered boys aged 11, 13 and 15.
It has been a very rough few years for myself and my children searching for a safe, secure and suitable place to settle and call our home after fleeing domestic and family violence mid 2019. We have suffered more domestic violence as a result of being found by my ex partner and the boys father no matter how far away we go. I buy new laptops and phones everytime, open new emails, bank accounts, everything all beginning fresh, he is relentless in discovering our location. The efforts of Centrecare, redcross and other domestic violence support groups to put security measurements in place has not stopped or prevented his persistent aggressive behaviour. I had lost employment because he would stalk my work everyday or call the work phone 600 times so no customers could ever get through. I ended up having to organise financial hardship schedules for all of my loan and bill providers, a good percentage of which were his but were in my name because he couldnt get anything approved in his name because of past bad debts. I have reported every breach of the order, however, I was left disappointed and unsuccessful with the outcome everytime. It eventually lead my eldest (13 at the time) to run off with his father under the belief that he was protecting me and his younger brothers. This was the most gut wrenching moment of my life to know that my son, who had severe PTSD from suffering physical, mental and emotional abuse at the hands of his father everyday for years, felt that the only way that we could be safe and free is if he stayed with his father no matter what that meant for his wellbeing. That decision tore me to peices not knowing if he was ok mentally, physically, emotionally he had always been a mummas boy. Of course his father used this to his advantage knowing that losing a son would hurt me more than anything he could ever do. Everytime we have been in contact with my son, which was rare, he would take my son’s phone and my son would suffer the consequences so I stopped trying to make contact so my son wouldn’t have to suffer. I did not get to speak to him for his 14th birthday even though I tried, which absolutely destroyed me, leaving me a devastated mess for over a week until I realised that I had neglected to see the impact that my breakdown was having on my younger 2 boys so I decided to be proactive. I had quite a number of breaches of the DVO that I was still yet to finalise with police and quite a few more that I needed to report 156 in total. The police officer I was in contact with could only report, take a statement and finalise one breach at a time which meant it was going to be a lengthy couple of weeks but I was determined. I went to sleep knowing that I had to remain positive because my son’s safety was my top priority.
I woke up after 2 weeks of being in a coma, extremely confused yet fiercly determined. My friends and family anxiously waited by my bedside each and every day for those 2 weeks just to be constantly given heartbreaking news that I would wake up blind, paralysed, significantly mentally impaired or to prepare to say their final goodbyes. I was labelled the miracle girl (which I hated) in ICU because no one was expecting me to wake up without any permanent impairments but I was one of the lucky ones. I spent the next 10 days learning to talk, eat, drink and walk again before I was able to leave hospital.
I was a passenger in a car accident. With the injuries I had suffered, the severe loss of blood and my level of consciousness I was clinically dead at the scene and had to be revived. Even with my seatbelt on, between the force of the first landing after the car went airborne and 100km/hr speeds, I was ejected out of the windscreen head first into a rock and then my 3 tonne dual cab ute landed on top of me crushing my chest and spine.
The amount of life threatening critical injuries I sustained was quite extensive. I suffered a traumatic subarachnoid haemorrhage, intraparenchymal haemorrhage, bilateral temporal and frontal lobe contusions, global cerebral oedema, had compression and burst fractures from my T3 through to my L1, spinal process ligamentous injuries, severe spinal cord shock, a massive hematoma extending down the length of my back, 6 broken ribs, bilateral pneumothorax and atelectasis, haemothorax, cardiac tamponade, pneumopericardium, pneumomediastinum, pulmonary haemorrhage, a pelvic bleed, a ruptured oasopagus, torn muscles ligaments and tendons in my left shoulder and neck, a fractured left hand and deep lacerations all over my face and neck.
Paramedics, the RACQ careflight team, fire fighters and police worked tirelessly for 5 hours to bring me back to life. I had a blood transfusion on scene, throat and chest tubes inserted to stabilise my chest injuries. I was rushed to theatre where I had my skull drilled into to 3 times to insert drains to relieve the cranial pressure, life support tubes inserted, repositioning of the bilateral chest tubes, extra drains inserted into my chest cavity and heart to remove the air, blood and fluid surrounding my heart and lungs, direct lines inserted into my heart and lungs, my oasophagus repaired and a feeding tube inserted, my fractured hand repaired, the extensive lacerations stitched and the debree removed from my wounds in my eyes, on my face and neck.
I have no memory of the accident or the couple of days beforehand so I am not sure what happened that day. I am grateful that my children were not in the car as I have since found out that the driver stole my car, was unlicensed and was under the influence of illegal substances. Unfortunately due to financial hardship (kind regards of my ex partner destroying any chance I had of financial stability) I could only afford to have 3rd party insurance on my car so I still have an outstanding debt for a car that I no longer have. Forensics are still investigating the matter 12 months after the accident to determine if my ex partner tampered with my car and if it caused the accident.
He currently owes me $27000 in child support because as he says he refuses to pay me for his children because if I can’t afford to take care of them then they can just go live with him and he will take care of them but also says that he shouldn’t have to pay for children when there is no DNA test to prove they are his. I have offered to get a DNA test done and he refused. We were together 16 years, all the children were planned, I was faithful and loyal and have no issue having a DNA test done, I actually want one done so he can stop telling his children they aren’t his.
Due to the accident I spent months trying to recover lost memories such as emails passwords etc so I lost a significant amount of information I needed to proceed with the breaches against my ex. To add the cherry on top, my phone was lost in the accident and has still not been recovered or found so I basically was left with no evidence of the breaches, and only one way to get my son to safety. I had to initiate parental orders through the courts which can be quite expensive. Due to the accident leaving me with a diffuse axonal injury, although relatively unimpaired, I still suffer from chronic fatigue, headaches, mental confusion and slow processing at times. That’s on top of the physical injuries in my spine with the t12 and t5 burst fractures leaving kyphosis which limits my mobility in terms of speed, twisting and standing for long periods. I have been informed that both head injuries and spinal ligament injuries can take 2 years to heal so although my wounds and fractures have healed, I’m still in the process of healing and cannot return to employment leaving me in severe financial situation.
During my recovery I have been financially strained because I have not been able to work, he’s not paying child support, and I have also suffered severe anxiety about my son’s welfare but I have had to learn to just relax, accept the fact that I cannot do the impossible and to just be patient. After receiving a phone call from a concerned person involved in ex’s life regarding my son’s welfare my patience is wearing thin. My youngest 2 boys would love to see their brother and have asked me if they can see him instead of receiving Xmas presents. So now I am really torn and anxious. I only have one more centrelink payday before Xmas and I was using that to get their Xmas presents: laptops, new school shoes and the Xbox series X that my youngest so desperately asked for but I would really love to see my son to if only for a minute. It may be the only minute I need to get him to safety. I need to buy a cheap car or hire one so I can make the 12 hour trip on top of the fuel expenses, food, etc. I am not going to be able to afford to pay my bills, pay for this trip and get Xmas presents if only a couple to put under the tree
I can’t afford to do all or even just 2 of these things. I’m a stickler for paying my bills but for Xmas I would love to take my boys to see their brother but I would also really love to see their faces light up Xmas day when there is actually presents under the tree as well.
It has been a long and tedious road for myself and my boys but I could not be prouder or any more grateful for my boys with the amount of strength and courage they have shown. They have been through more challenges life can throw at them in the past 5 years than any child should ever have to face. They helped me recover even if some days were just downright ugly and not pleasant. My children are the reason I wake up each day, the reason I smile and the reason I breathe. Last year I only got discharged from hospital a week before Xmas and I was wheelchair bound with no transport and barely enough money to put food on the table so there was no presents Xmas day. Xmas morning they gave me a hug and told me that I was their present because I came back to life just in time for them for Xmas.
My boys deserve to see their brother for Xmas and get the Xmas presents they asked for but I can’t do the impossible which is why I am reaching out for help. Please donate to help my children reunite with each other after 18 months and still get the Xmas day bundle of joy under the tree that makes every child light up.
The trip with car hire, food, fuel, accommodation will be quite costly and the presents they have asked for are also quite costly so thank you so much for your support, generosity and your donations.
Your donations will have a tremendous impact on our lives and we will be eternally grateful.
Too proud to ask until now.
How does one go about begging for money from strangers? I’m from Montana, born and raised, and I was raised to work hard, and take care of those you love. Both of those things I do, except throughout the years I feel pieces of me slipping away, with no way to stop it. I don’t make excuses, and I don’t want to believe that something is controlling my mind and my life and the damage is permanent. In 2007 I was almost killed by carbon monoxide poisoning. I recently read an article from an expert in that field of study, that left me in tears reading it, knowing that I feel exactly what was written, every single day since the accident. https://carbonmonoxide.com/brain-damage-from-carbon-monoxide-poisoning
There’s the sensor of you care to read about my battle that I’ve bottled up for about 16 years. My marriage was directly effected by how my brain works, and my kids and work life, and living situation are all crumbling in front of me, and I can only sit back and watch the damage I’m causing to my loved ones. I’m about to be evicted. I can’t hold a job to save my life, mostly due to an irregular sleep schedule that no matter how hard I try, I can’t change it fix it. I’m broken and I’m hoping that there’s somebody out there who can loan or donate the funds I need to get things back on track, and for me to finally be able to seek treatment, and get my daughters back in my life. Thanks for reading.

A Fresh Start: Rebuilding After a 7-Year Relationship
Please Help my Parents
Hello, First of all I like to say thank you for stopping by. My name is Sharon, I’m 27 years old, from a west African decent and I recently got my first office role earning £24k yearly. I am worried about my parents they are both in their 60’s and about to retire they have no retirement plan. And as the first child I am scared as to what will happen. They have combined debts of £50k, no home and barely any pension to eventually live on.
I have a guy I want to get married to he works but of course not earning as much.
I wish to get married to him knowing my parents will be fine, but with the condition of things right now I have no idea on how I can make an extra income to support and help them as it looks like I’m their last resort. We currently live in a council house and they both work but as a whole it seems like they are not sure what their future will be as we barely can afford the essentials. They wish to essentially go back to their home countries but they also haven’t completed building their home and this makes me questions what would actually happen to them. Would I be able to get married and have my own family? Or would I spend my years taking care of them?
I have made my calculations on what I need to settle this for them. I plan on buying our council house, renovate it and put a room to rent. So they can keep what they work for till they retire. Also I plan on ensuring that their house back home overseas is completed for them to live comfortable. Although the total cost of what we require is £80k, but I’m not just begging for money; I’m also asking for help, I am happy to welcome new opportunities to know how I can make extra income. I understand the internet has a lot on this but I need a mentor that can guide me. I wish to also be a giver and help people, but with all I’ve said I want to say thank you for taking the time to read my story and also thank you I’m advance for any donation that will come from your heart. Please feel free to also reach out to me on sharon04aa@gmail.com for any advice as I always look forward to learn and acquire new knowledge.
Finally Escaped, Now Where Do I Go?
Emerging from a 13-year physically abusive relationship marked a challenging chapter in my life. The toll was not only visible on my body—with over 20 broken bones, two knocked out teeth, a damaged chest cavity, and constant threats on my life with a knife held to my throat—but also on my mental well-being. At times, the darkness seemed insurmountable, contemplating the only escape as death. The scars I carry are not just physical. Efforts to seek help, including involving law enforcement, proved disheartening as he was released the next day, intensifying the danger. Leaving was a battle against control, with limited shelter options and the isolation orchestrated by my abuser. After many years of being told how to think and feel, learning to trust my feelings is exciting as well as scary.
Breaking free required a drastic change—I moved hours away, concealing my whereabouts even from my family for safety. Which as years of forced isolation from family my support system in non-existent. Coping with PTSD and social anxiety, I found solace in remote work and decided to embark on a college journey to rebuild my life. Although empowering, this fresh start brings its own set of challenges. Balancing the financial strains of housing costs, bills, and education while racking up student loan debt is a constant struggle. Nevertheless, my commitment to personal growth and financial stability remains unwavering.
Newfound independence is both liberating and overwhelming. Making decisions for myself after years of control is a process. Despite the stress, I am determined to forge ahead. Even if it means unconventional accommodations, such as sleeping in my truck, I am steadfast in my pursuit of a secure financial future through higher learning. Any assistance in covering rent, bills, food and sustaining my education would be profoundly appreciated. Returning to the past is not an option; it would mean returning to my hell on earth, filled with a life of torment, or worse. I hold onto life and strive to build a future where my decisions shape my destiny. I know everyone deserves a safe life, and I’m still fighting so hard to ensure one for myself. Please I can’t return to that life and right now I need just a little help. I want to believe with all of me that life does get better and doesn’t have to always be such a struggle just to survive. Thank you to anyone who took the time to read my story, regardless of money. God might have put on me to write on here to possibly give the courage to someone else. Life always has a silver lining, that’s what I tell myself, it helped me keep hope many times.

Need help with a solid foundation
This has been a tough few years for me. Out of college, I moved back in with my mother for both financial and medical reasons. Then our landlord sold the property and evicted us to move his family in. I got a job that I thought was a decent starting point but despite working as hard as I could, we ended up living out of our car. I decided to change careers and got hired as a teacher. it is a nice job, the pay is decent, good benefits and very rewarding.
However, between the two jobs, my mother had a medical emergency. She died for 8 minutes and became very ill spending two months in the hospital. To make ends meet I ended up maxing out some credit cards and helping her with medical bills.
Now we are stuck in a situation where we are still living out of a car, her health is getting better but the living conditions do not help, and living out of a car makes it really difficult to be a teacher. Things here are so expensive and between the medical bills, credit card bills, and student loans I am barely breaking even. I’m set to go back to college soon and finish my teaching credentials between everything, my mental and emotional well-being is stretched thin already.
I’m asking for a little help, anything you can spare to help us get an apartment. All we want is a stable foundation to start building from there.

Small gestures will help my family so so much ! Please read it would help us gain such ground in life!
Many financial burdens are keeping my family from gaining any ground in life. I know with a little help I can get things back on track for our family. We recently had our home go into Forclosure and we were forced to leave. I wish I knew about these platforms and maybe we wouldn’t have lost it. It’s up for sale now so I’m hopeful with government programs maybe we can get it back but we are staying with our neighbor friend so I’m going to start small bc now if I don’t get my vehicle legal I will lose my license in court. I have two tag and registration tickets I need to renew so the tickets will be dropped. In order to do that I need insurance($80) and inspection($15) and tag ($100) with some fees bc my insurance lapsed. Also the great thing about getting my car legal is I’ve had several job offers with delivery outfits like Amazon and ups but they won’t hire untill my car is ready. Plus I would really feel so much relief if I had money for my sons upcoming 13th bday , Dec 16th and of course christmas . I’m thinking 300 would be a great start and hopefully the rest I can come up with in the mean time. If anyone could please be so kind to send us some money I promise it will go to exactly what I’m asking to use it for. We have no family my husbands side have all passed away and my parents are in no condition to help us so I won’t ask. I try to help them as much as possible. In Long Term Crisis, Needing Help Desperately
We’ve been in crisis for more than 8 months, now. My husband lost his job in April due to a sleep disorder possibly linked to his diabetes and/or extreme depression, as well as arthritic pain/pain from past neck and back injuries. I was also let go from my job later that month. I then injured my shoulder severely and spent a month before I could move my right arm. A couple months later, I suddenly developed severe arthritis in my feet/ankles, knees, shoulders and hands. I have been treating it as best I can, with diet and supplements, because we are without medical insurance (we had to sacrifice that in favor of food). Since the crisis began, our only vehicle has also had catastrophic failure that we can in no way afford to repair. I will need to obtain a vehicle to be successful in overcoming our current situation.
I’ve had a GoFundMe since May. We’ve received less than $2500 of the $5000 I was requesting, and that wouldn’t have been enough in any case. Thankfully, we have friends who have helped us with food, rent and basic bills, but those sources have been depleted now, as well. We have about a month’s worth of funds to sustain us, and then we are completely lost.
I have felt well enough to do a desk job, recently, (I am now unable to stand for long periods of time, nor can I lift anything of any weight), and have been applying everywhere I think I can DO the job. Without a decent vehicle, it will be nearly impossible to fulfill a regular job’s attendance. All it would take is a LITTLE assistance (by way of comparison to other people’s needs) to get us back on our feet. If I can obtain a full time job, it would cover our very modest basic living expenses and I could release the tremendous stress of living off other people’s money – or, worse, the lack thereof. We are in danger of losing our home and everything we have spent decades trying to build because of circumstances beyond our control.
We are starting over, these past few years, after my father passed away suddenly due to nursing home malpractice in 2014 – which no lawyer was interested in litigating on my behalf. Basically, they overmedicated him to the point where he starved to death, despite my daily presence (for 5 months) and doing all I could to protect, attend to, and advocate for him. We again both lost our jobs around the same time in 2018, and had to short-sell my father’s house (where we had lived with him for more than 20 years, as I was his caretaker) in order not to lose it (I was in bankruptcy at the time, trying to SAVE the house), and move cross-country to afford to live and be near my son. It took us 2 months moving ourselves, due to major vehicle issues that had to be dealt with along the way, and sheer exhaustion (we often stayed 3-4 days at a time in a motel with our 3 cats, just to be rested enough to drive some more, and at one point the repairs on one of our vehicles took more than 2 weeks – and that vehicle made it to where we landed just before it died again).
It has been unspeakably difficult rebuilding our lives, and it is even harder to see it fall apart again.
Our lives have been marked by tragedy for a very long time. We are both in our 50s now, and would deeply appreciate the opportunity to make a life for ourselves, again, before it gets too late. My husband is back in treatment (on 6 months of charity care), and I have found a way to be able to work again. Just a little assistance would go a long way in helping us get a foothold on life again. I have reached a point of sheer desperation, and that is why I am here, asking for help. I am again experiencing the rolling panic attacks I was having when my father passed away, that incredible dread that constantly feels like I’m dying. And this time, I can’t even get proper medical care to help me through it like I did last time. The resources simply aren’t there for us (we are in a state that does not have Medicare until we reach the age of 65, and I have not yet discovered any other assistance for us for which we qualify – despite being completely unemployed most of this year). I am doing all that I can to save us from complete collapse, but I am swiftly running out of ideas and time. Your help would be the miracle I have been praying for. Please consider helping us to regain our lives again.

I am hoping we can raise about $10,000 to help sustain us until we can get our lives back in order and to obtain a decent used car. Please give us this chance to survive.
Innocent husband incarcerated
Hello to whomever is reading this,
My husband and I are going to be celebrating our 9th wedding anniversary February 26th. We only knew each other for three months when we got married, it was pretty much love at first sight. We just get each other better than anybody else does. We actually like each other, people say we are annoyingly cute together. For the majority of the last two years he has been locked up and I have been without him, trying to make sure he has a home plan for when the time comes. It’s getting harder and harder, I lost our car which makes it even more difficult. I wish I could afford a good lawyer for him because what they are doing to him is wrong, he is innocent. He’s been in since August 28th of last year. Money for a decent defense and for a reliable car would be a dream come true. $75,000 should just about do it.

In Desperate Need!!
In 2019 my wife and I decided we would start a marketing business. She works in the mental arena and I worked at odd jobs after being laid off. We self-funded this business with inventory after following the advice of some “experts”. Sales and revenue were bleak. Not long afterward, when the so called Covid pandemic hit, we found ourselves struggling even more. Money invested in this business was evaporating quickly. After tapping all of our savings and credit, our credit began its slow and then sudden demise.
At this same time, we had adult and teen aged children who needed financial help, along with aging parents. Right or wrong, we have always tried to help our children and family to the very best of our ability, and to do so with as much wisdom as possible.
And now, 4 years later, we find ourselves continually going backwards. We are in the midst of wage garnishments amounting to just over $17,000. Another lawsuit has awarded a previous creditor just over $40,000 which they are now pursuing. And we are facing yet another lawsuit with a court date in April of 2024 where this creditor is seeking approximately $30,000. We still currently carry a little over $15,000 in credit card debt, along with debt on a car, and are attempting to do whatever we can to meet our obligations. We recently sold a car to help meet obligations, have stripped back any and all unnecessary spending, while attempting to find as much work as possible. It seems that we will never be on top of this situation, but we both know that with a some help, we could extricate ourselves from this mess.
Things feel desperate at this point. I never thought we would or even could be in this situation, but… here we are. I am asking for whatever help can be given and am willing to look at any terms that could assist in alleviating this tremendous burden.

From Debt to Dreams: How Your Support Can Help Me Achieve My Goals Despite ADHD
Dear friends,
Thank you for taking the time to read my story!
I’m reaching out now because I’m in a difficult situation. After 20 years of marriage, my ex-wife insisted on a divorce. We have split custody of our precious kids, and I’m doing everything I can to provide for them.
Unfortunately, things haven’t gone as planned. I tried to start a business, but it failed. Then, I got scammed, leaving me $37,000 in debt. I’m doing my best to stay positive, but it’s been tough. I’ve never felt so depressed in my life.
And before I share more, please understand that I am truly thankful for everything in my life – especially for the opportunity to hold and spend time with my kids every other week!!
My 10-year-old son has a dream of going on a mission trip to Costa Rica this summer, and I want to make that happen for him. He also wants me to get my own home, but with the debt I’m facing, it seems impossible.
That’s why I’m turning to you. I’m not asking for a “hand out,” but a “hand up.” Because I have faith that as I continue educating myself on financial matters that in the near future my kids and I will be able to once again bless others less fortunate!
I have cut every expense that is not an absolute necessity at this time. We don’t have television service or anything like that. And then my hours at work were drastically cut for several weeks, including now – (I know more hours will be available again sometime). So I have been putting groceries on my credit card and paying late fees.
I love my kids with all my heart, and I would give anything to have more to offer them. I want to dream again, and I want them to dream too! If you can help me in any way, I would be forever grateful – it means the world to me and my family at this time!!
Again thank you for taking the time to read this, and thank you so much for your support!!
