I was laid off from a six figure tech job in January and I need money to move forward.

Givers,

I am currently in a situation where I am waiting for my prayers to be answered about my financial challenges. I am a 32 year old unemployed African American man who grew up as an academic enthusiast born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama. I won the Gates Millennium Scholarship when I finished high school and went on to get an engineering bachelor’s degree and then a mathematics master’s degree. I always thought that if I worked hard and went to school and got a job that I could take care of myself and my family, but as you all know, it’s not that simple.

When I got out of school, I worked as a teacher at a community college making barely enough to get by and then I landed an engineering job in Huntsville, Alabama. I was able to get an apartment and get married although without a wedding. I struggled socially at work because of my race and due to chronic halitosis. On top of that, inflation began to pick up and it became apparent that I could barely save money, but my head was above water. I needed a new way. I found out about cloud engineering, a new a lucrative field. Or at least it was new to me. I studied and got a certification in cloud engineering, quit my job, and landed my first six figure remote role as a cloud engineer making $105,000 in the year 2022. I thought I had made it. My parents were proud and everyone esteemed me. However, I didn’t feel fully secure. My job environment was very unorganized, and I quickly found out that I and few others had only been hired to stimulate diversity in the company. A manager with a heart of gold got me hired to give people who look like me a chance to develop in a lucrative field. However, after a year and four months, he had left the company and then I was laid off along with my other African American colleagues.

Since my layoff, I have applied for over 100 jobs and started a government contracting business. However, due to my inexperience, I have not won any contracts. Also, I’ve only gotten one interview and I haven’t heard back from the company yet. I looked at an article about the layoffs and found out that tech roles in particular are being cut due to advancements in ai. Even some workers who have 20 years of experience aren’t getting hired after layoffs because of these ai advancements. People with my low level experience are unlikely to get hired. So that means that my life’s work could possibly amount to nothing. Money from my severance pay has diminished since my layoff in January 2024. I’ve applied for unemployment but I haven’t seen a single dollar of it due to the staggering back log. I have received food stamps but I’m running out of money for other things my family needs aside from food.

I normally would never ask people to give me money but I feel like this may be what God wants me to do. I’ve always been a giver of my time, talents, money, and counsel. During the time when I was working I would give my less fortunate friends and family money for gas, food, rent payments, and all types of emergencies. Even after my lay off, I used my severance pay to prevent one of my friends from being evicted. I gave him 1300 so that he and his family could keep their apartment and then again I sent him 890 for that same reason the next month. I had done the same thing for my brother in law last year when he was about to get evicted and that was 800 as well. In addition, I gave another friend 500 to keep his car from being repossessed. I have always been the friend to take on these financial emergencies as well as getting my hands dirty with minor car repairs and giving rides to work sometimes for months. My philosophy has always been to give to people that come to me for help if I have the ability or resources to help them. Jesus teaches this in Matthew 5:42.

Now, I am facing eviction, and I will have to face it again next month if I do not get some income soon. God has always provided for me in miraculous ways. I believe God got me my full ride scholarships, gave me the wisdom to seek cloud engineering, and moved the hiring managers at my last job to give me work opportunity. I believe that God is moving me away from working jobs. He’s shown me the truth about our society and how it is built to control us and keep us poor no matter how much money we make. My plan is to use my business to secure government contracts and get enough income to stop working all together. Then, I’ll follow my dream of creating a manga or comic book that teaches biblical and life principles. I love Dbz, One piece, Bleach, Jujutsu Kaisen, and Naruto; and I would love to follow the dream of creating my own battle themed show that could teach audiences and readers about Jesus’s teachings and biblical principles. I’ve never been able to seek this out because of trying to make ends meet. Right now, I need money to hold me over until I get a government contract or get a new job. I’d also like to have money to give to my relatives and friends who need money to survive right now as well. At minimum, I need 2000 to pay my past due rent for this month May 2024 but rent for June will be due next month on the 1st which is 1690 including water and rent. That total is 3690. Ideally, if I could get 35,000, I would have enough to make it through the rest of this year. I know I’ll be able to get a job or another source of income before the end of the year. I know that God is going to provide for me either way, but you all could be his way of doing it. The scripture Luke 6:38 says “Give and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over, will be given to you.” I’ve seen this in my own life, and I know the same is true for you who are givers as well.

I’ve been praying everyday about my finances and I’m losing more money each day. I don’t want to be a failure or a burden to my family in any way. I’ve put my pride aside on this platform and I need your help. I want to be free from this system of oppression but I have deal with it for now so that I can rise above and teach others how to do the same. I’m willing to speak any of you to confirm that my need is legitimate and answer any questions you may have. I’m also open to the wisdom you all may have about making money and living freely. My cell is 2054136974 and my email is lgcopeland91@gmail.com. I would appreciate any help you all can give.

“Backing Keith: From Relocation to Rebuilding Lives”

Dear Esteemed Friends, Family, and Community Members,

Greetings, my name is Keith. I hope this message finds you well and in good spirits. Today, I stand at the cusp of a pivotal moment in my life – a relocation that promises new beginnings. Yet, such a venture comes with its fair share of challenges, not least of which are the financial implications.

In light of this, I am writing to you to garner support for the essential expenses tied to this move. The funds raised will be allocated towards securing a new residence, covering the first and last month’s rent, the security deposit, and other moving-related costs. The goal I’ve set is $9,360.00, a figure that will ensure a smooth transition into this next chapter.

Key Points of My Relocation:

  • Immediate Relocation Needs: The funds will primarily cover the immediate expenses associated with moving, such as:
    • First and last month’s rent
    • Security deposit
    • Moving supplies
    • Transportation fees
  • Employment Status: Currently, I am in the process of seeking employment in the new location. The lack of a job at this moment adds to the financial urgency of my situation.
  • Transportation Challenges: Without a personal vehicle, I face significant hurdles in transporting my belongings and attending job interviews. The campaign will also support:
    • Public transportation costs
    • Potential savings towards a vehicle for reliable transportation
  • Additional Support: Any funds raised beyond the relocation costs will assist with:
    • Living expenses until I secure a job
    • Essential household items for the new residence
    • Unforeseen expenses during the transition period

A Vision for the Future:

  • Nonprofit Ambition: Beyond my immediate needs, I am driven by a vision to contribute positively to society. I aspire to establish a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting formerly incarcerated individuals. This organization will aim to provide:
    • Assistance in finding stable housing.
    • Help with securing employment opportunities.
    • Access to necessary medical attention
    • Support with other essential needs to reintegrate into society successfully.

Your support can manifest in various forms:

  • A Monetary Gift: Whether small or substantial, your donation will have a profound impact on reaching my financial target.
  • Spreading the Word: Sharing my campaign within your network will amplify our efforts and draw in additional support.
  • Emotional Encouragement: Sometimes, a few words of support can be just as uplifting as financial aid.

Thank you in advance for partaking in this journey with me, knowing that the transformative potential and power of your contributions are greatly appreciated.

I am fully aware of the multitude of requests for aid that come your way, and I am deeply appreciative of your consideration of mine. Your support, in any capacity, is a beacon of hope as I navigate this significant life change.

With heartfelt thanks and anticipation for your kind response, I remain,

Yours sincerely,

Keith

Struggling with rent for mom

This is a plea for help. I have done as much as I could. My mother is up for eviction at the end of this month and we have come up short on rent for her. My name is Ned Stokes. My mother Lula Mukes is up for eviction at the end of the month. The amount that is due is $1400. I was $2600 but my little sister and brother got together and knocked it down to $1400.

We have tried to get loans but our credit isn’t all that good and I feel like a failure of a son because as the oldest, I am struggling to take care of my own mother. I do have a job but my hours have been getting cut for the past 3 weeks. I have put in for jobs that pay better, but I haven’t heard anything back yet. So, here I am asking for help to keep my mother from being evicted and homeless. Please, I am seeking help in any way possible.

And yes I have tried asking family, however the answer was always the same, “I don’t have anything to give”. Truth be told, they were probably telling the truth so I’m not gonna look to blame them for anything.

If you can send anything, send it to my Cash app  $NedStokesJr. I don’t have a PayPal yet but I saw that I could use Cashapp so I’ll use that.

Please and Thank You.

A Mother struggle and urgency of financial assistance

Hello,

I am writing because this is my last resort. My mother is a single parent facing an imminent threat of eviction due to financial constraints. She is in urgent need of financial assistance and utility assistance, which I cannot help. She has had a tough start to the year but it has become worse in recent months, to prevent eviction she needs $5,000. She has done so much for my sisters and me and it pains me that I can not help her out in a time of need. Despite my mother’s best efforts to handle everything on her own, it has become way too much for her to handle. It would be appreciated if anyone could provide relief and lend a helping hand. Lastly, thank you in advance for your help.

Wrongfully terminated and need help with rent

Hello,

I was wrongfully terminated by my previous employer. I worked really hard and was very devoted and passionate about my job, but unfortunately my manager had it out for me and made up false reason to terminate me. Before I was terminated I endured harrassment and discrimination by management for about 2 months. I had never in my life ever had to deal with this type of work environment before. It was a very horrible depressing situation. This happened in February and now I am 3 months behind on rent. I am asking for help so that I can get my rent paid. Before this I had never been late on paying my rent. I am a single mother of a 12 year old daughter and I’ve always worked hard all of my life. I don’t want to be evicted and end up homeless. I have my interview with the EEOC in July because it’s truly unfair how I was terminated. My daughter and I would appreciate any little bit of help we can possibly get. Thank you. God bless.

My son took advantage of me and then put me out

Hello and thank you for reading my post.

I am a retired 74 year old and I live primarily off of social security. In September of 2021 my oldest son contacted me and told me that he and his wife wanted me to move to Texas and live with them. For an entire year we discussed the move and I was told that they had a room for me and they were looking forward to having me in the home with them. Fast forward to September 2022, my daughter helped me pack up all of my belongings in Oregon. My son flew in and he and I drove to Texas. When my son arrived he demanded to my daughter that he get a copy of my will. I have very little but my daughter had insisted that I create a will. My daughter was very upset when my son arrived and demanded to see the will because he was very aggressive and rude toward her. Regardless my son was provided with a copy of the will. When we arrived in Texas my son became very hostile toward me and told me that I was not allowed to leave my bedroom. My daughter-in-law wanted to discuss my will with me and told me that it was not a valid will and it would need to be amended to ensure any of my property was willed to her and my son. After 2 weeks my son and his wife told me that it was not going to work out for me to live with them after all. They told me they had found me a place to move to in another town in Texas. I felt scared and very alone and I chose not to tell my daughter because I was embarrassed and did not want to burden her with this issue. My son and his wife took me to a town called Sulfur Springs, Texas and dropped me off at a low income housing that I was eligible to move into. And then I never saw them again. I then had to furnish the apartment. This resulted in me using credit cards and I am now in credit card debt of over $15,000. The credit debt is not just home furnishing purchases I had to furnish the kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and I also used to pay my $750/ month rent that I could not afford. After a few months went by I confessed to my daughter that her brother had told me that I was not going to live with them after all. My daughter was frustrated that I had not told her immediately as she said that she would have come and brought me back to Oregon. In August of 2023 my daughter flew to Sulfur Springs, packed up my apartment, rented a U-haul and drove me back to Oregon. I now live with my daughter who pays all of the household bills and rent. My daughter is barely making it and I feel so guilty that I cannot help her due to my credit card debt.

I would be so grateful for any help if anyone feels compelled to assist.

Thank you again for reading my post.

Can’t catch up. In despite need of help to prevent eviction.

My name is Diane 42, I’ve been suffering from Fibromyalgia for the past 6 years and has gotten worse.  I’ve been working at the company I work for  for 12 1/2  years. In the past 6 yrs, I’ve tried different positions to see what’s best for me, at this point this chronic pain disease has affected my job duties, health and social life which also made me go into depression  so I had to stop working. I’ve been trying to play catch up before COVID started due to me being out of work for a major surgery (hysterectomy). I now owe 24,000 in back rent which I need help in paying before they evict me. I feel embarassed for asking and letting it get to this much. I’ve always worked even during 3 pregnancies. I worked so hard to make sure my children never go without anything. I’ve never been evicted, never in the dark, or without food and clothing, never went on vacations While making sure I raise my Children the best that I can alone  I always put them first and myself last.

I’m grateful for anything that you donate.  Thank you and God Bless you!

Help me get back on my feet please

Hello!

This is new to me, as I am usually someone who does the donating. My spouse and I have decided to go our separate ways, and while it is amicable, I’m coming away with very little. I don’t need much. I work full time and have my own business where it’s going to pick up this summer. I’ve got a new place to move into but I’m struggling to comfortable cover rent in my current place for one month, the deposit, first months rent, and all new furniture. On top of that I’ve offered to put on a benefit for my great aunt who just got through breast cancer for the second time and is struggling financially. I don’t feel comfortable or right pulling out of that. So now I’m just in a tight spot for a month or two until i can get it turned around. It took me a year of therapy to even end my marriage because i hate confrontation and would rather be unhappy than have a hard conversation. So i know i should be proud of myself for making life changes for myself and for the better but it’s hard to see past the stress of figuring this all out and feeling comfortable. As i mentioned, i dont enjoy doing this and I know other people might need the money more than me, and ill definitely pay it forward, but I really could use the help. Anything helps. I’m just shooting for a couple thousand dollars. Thank you for reading and thank you even more if you help me out. I appreciate it more than you know.

Widowed 60 yr. old man who would like to make a fresh start in life

Hello, I am a 60 yr. old man whose wife of 25 yrs. died July 2022 from complications of septic shock. I could not have a funeral for her,we had no life insurance. I was only able to have her cremated by donating her body to a research company. It has been a very difficult struggle for me since then. She had SSI disability but when she passed, that money stopped coming in. She was receiving a little over $1,000 per month,so right away,$1,000 income was no longer available.I cannot pay my monthly rent.It has been in arrears for over 6 months. I have been taken to court by my landlord and was able to set up a payment plan with them, even so,I still am so far behind on getting caught up. I do not want to be evicted, I have lived in my apartment for over 15 yrs. I was only able to get some of the rent paid through my state rent relief aid but that has run out. I am working but I am a temp. worker and I barely make enough to pay for groceries, everyday items. I was receiving SNAP and Medicaid but that was stopped when social services found out I finally got a job. I have no health insurance and my blood pressure medications have run out. Co-pays were Zero with Medicaid, now hundreds of dollars out of pocket.I have a 1998 Chevrolet Cavalier with over 191,000 miles on it. It is in need of persisting repairs that I cannot afford. Please help. I am at a point of desperation.God Bless.

I want to believe

Recently I was scammed online. Still here I am trying to find good in the world. I believe so much good is out there. My roommate got a new job and she took a cut in pay and hours. I have been struggling to maintain rent and bills. This friend of mine has saved me multiple times. I was ready to call it quits on life when she came around. She showed me what it was like to want to live. I would do anything for her to show how appreciative I am. But we just moved to a bigger place when she got a new job. It’s hard to afford it right now. My roommate is my chosen family. She is my sister, best friend, and mentor. I love her. Please help me keep our house. Rent is 1200 which we could have afforded together with her old job but she had to find a less physical stressing job. My cash app tag is $frankie31387

Please let me find more good in the world.

Desperately in need of financial help one time!

Hello, I usually am able to support myself. I have always had a full time job. I’ve spent my life always helping others, and now when I really need help, I can’t find any one to turn to. By the grace of God, and a miracle I  recently survived a saddle pulmonary embolism. Which has kept me out of work for the last few months. I’ve lived off of what little savings I had, and I am currently waiting for disability to kick in. My landlords have been very lenient with me, but unfortunately they rely on my rent to help them get by in life. I am in desperate need of financial assistance in the amount of $2000 just to get myself caught up amd current on my rent. I’ve been able to keep up with my bills, so atleast I am not in debt all over the place. I hate having to come on here and beg, it is quite embarrassing me for me. I also have no problem paying back any financial assistance I receive in the form of monthly payments. I have no where else to turn, and I thank anyone and everyone in advance for any help provided to me.

Student Rent Help

Hello,

I am currently a full time student in college and I am about to graduate, and I am in a lot of financial and academic stress right now because my adoptive parents are going through a foreclosure. They have been paying my rent because they wanted me to focus on school, which has given me the ability to get as far as I have thus far (I am graduating in a couple months). They are now so far behind in mortgage that they can’t pay my rent anymore and no one is hiring me because I don’t have any work history. Anything would help, I just need enough to get me through until I graduate. Thank you in advance.

I need HELP/Assistance

I am a single mom/woman and I really need some assistance for rent. I am currently working a nice job. last year I got scammed by a private landlord. I went to view the apartment which was located on the 3rd floor and it was beautiful! Two days before I was all set to move in, the landlord called to let me know that the 3rd floor apartment has been rented but he had a 1st floor apartment available and did I want that apartment because it looked the exact same as the 3rd floor apartment. I said yes of course! I was excited about the 1st floor. The day I moved in on June 16th 2023, the apartment was in shambles and the only thing that was new in the apartment was the floors. 40% of the items was left in the cabinets were still in the worn out cabinets and the blinds had 2 inches of dirt on them and the door knobs to the bedrooms and the bathrooms were missing. It was a horrible mess. The landlord told me that he was going to fix everything but the only thing that he fixed was the smoke detectors and that is it. I stayed in that apartment until March of this year when he finally let me out of the lease that I begged for. I got approved for the brand new apartment and it took all of my money and some money I didn’t have to move in here. Now I am behind in my rent because I can’t catch up from moving and I need a little assistance to keep my place and I need at least $2500 for the rent and the late fees. If anyone can please find it in your heart to Bless me with some assistance that would be appreciated. Thank you soo much in advance ! My monthly rent is $1685.00. I can afford to pay but I must get caught up first.

Help Me Get Back on My Feet!

Hi, I’m Ryan.
For the past 10 months, I’ve been actively searching for a job in my field, but unfortunately, I’ve had no luck. Despite my best efforts, I’ve depleted my savings and maxed out my credit card. With no local support system and no access to credit, I’m facing a daunting reality: homelessness.
I’m grateful for any support you can offer. Your contribution will bring me closer to securing a roof over my head and a chance to rebuild my life. Thank you in advance for your kindness and generosity!
I do not have any way to pay my rent due this month (May 1st). My rent is about $2000 per month. My other cash only bills amount to an additional $1100.
