Hi everyone, we are a young couple with no financial help and sinking in an ocean of debt. Accumulated student loans and early on poor decisions have us way behind where we need to be financially and we have worked extremely hard just to make ends meet. My partner studies countless hours in college and works on the side and I put in almost fifty hour weeks and it seems we’re continually sliding downward.
For the last three years we’ve been saving every dime we can save, not eating on days we “haven’t been hungry”, refrained from buying new clothing even when some clothes are worn out completely. The list goes on when it comes to what we don’t do or don’t buy, but most importantly what’s being affected is our health. Lack of money means we haven’t been able to see doctors, get medication, get treatment for illnesses. Plain and simple, we’re going downhill fast any way you look at it.
We have spent the better part of the last few years going through debt programs and ending up getting scammed (multiple times), been through multiple budgets all to which have failed with increasing interest on loans and debts. In the long run, just trying to get out of debt has put us even farther in it which makes it increasingly harder to get out of. We wouldn’t be asking for help if we truly didn’t see any other option. Ashamed as we are, we just hope to climb out of this hole alive and able to live a normal simple life. We both look forward to a brighter future but it gets really hard to keep going with the giant storm cloud we have over our heads.
Our story probably rings true with a lot of young adults so we just hope this story runs across someone who can somewhat understand and relate to our situation. Unfortunately we don’t have any financial help from friends or families so we don’t know where we’ll be in a year or even shorter. I hate saying it but we sit at $36,000 in debt just to put out the number. I don’t expect to raise near that but if we could it would be life changing. Anything helps and in our situation I greatly mean anything. If you can’t help I completely understand, just taking the time to read this means something.
