Hello!

I am asking for donations that will go towards my tuition fees. I am getting ready to go back to school next year so I can be in a career with the hopes of being financially stable. I am looking forward to starting during the second 8 weeks of the Spring semester. I am currently working full time and am able to get by but am unable to save as much as I want or need to. I want desperately to be able to save money not just for my future but also for any emergencies that life may throw my way. I have been cutting out and spending less these past few months with some success, but I can only save about $50 – $80 a month.  Don’t get me wrong, this is great, but my problem is with me going back to school, I will have to drop down to part time. I spoke with my manager about scheduling for going back to school. Unfortunately, she told me that full-timers cannot have set schedules or preferences. That is something she has never done for a full timer, and she won’t do it for me to avoid being accused of showing favoritism, even though my reason is for education. I was told that I will have to go down to part time if I want to adjust my work schedule for my school schedule.

This is terrifying for a number of reasons. I am going to lose my benefits, I’ll be working and therefore making less, and the number of hours I will work as a part timer is unpredictable. Part-timers at my job are scheduled for 20 hours. Sometimes they are given more hours, sometimes they are not. This is honestly terrifying me and almost has me rethinking going back to school. I am definitely going to have to pick up a second job. How successful I will be at getting a second job that will work around my first job and my school schedule will remain to be seen but I am definitely going to try. If I had a car I could Uber to make a little extra cash but that is not option right now. With the price of cars right now, that is something I can’t even think about right now.

            The donations I receive will go towards my tuition. I am able to get a very small amount of Pell Grants. I already have student loan debt that I took out a couple years ago from the first time I tried to go to college. I cannot afford to pay out of pocket as all of the money I will make after going part time will have go towards my rent, utilities, food, and other necessities. I do not have anyone I can ask for help. My father is 75 years old and hasn’t been able to work for over a decade due to injuries from his last job and his health. He currently is getting disability. My mom is 66 years old and is still working full time but barely getting by. She is too scared to retire because she does not think her, and my father could survive on his disability check and her retirement check. Asking my parents isn’t even an option.

I want so badly to go back to school. I want to be in a stable career and get paid a decent wage. To be financially independent is my main goal right now but I do not think I can get by on just part time pay. I really do not want to give up on going to school. Hi! My name is Ava and I am a freshman at Ball State University studying studio arts and computer science. I have a toxic home life and I want to get out as soon as possible. Right now I live in a dorm but I need at least 6,000 to stay in the dorm. My mom refuses to help me and will not be approved to cosign loans. My dad is out of work because of the writer’s strike even then he does not make a lot of money and he’s helping my oldest brother because he got laid off. I have a disability, so work is hard to find plus my mom would not let me work in high school, and when she did it was already too late. And if I had a job it would have to be art based.  I am now working but I have to pay for art supplies and I play a sport, so I have to pay for travel, food, dues, etc. For the whole school year my job barely half of my tuition for one semester. I cannot commute because I can’t drive and I can’t live at home again. My granny and mom yell about things that can be settled easily, like spilling water, wanting to go outside, etc. They used to abuse me and I fear that it will happen again and I have no where to go.

My name is Julia Armstrong & I am a 50yr old student @ Master Tattoo Institution of Miami Beach, Fl.
After a lifetime of many a careers, October of 2022 I finally decided to give up on what the “ normal careers” are and go for my dreams. Go for what is passion driven inside of me. I wanted to pursue a career as a tattoo artist. Ever since I can remember I have always been able to draw. Throughout my life I have had request from friends and co-workers to draw this or that for them as gifts to their family. Then in my early 30’s I dated a man that did tattoos, for whom I would design most of his stencils for his clients. He would constantly tell me that I should start tattooing and make some real money. But the machines were very heavy for me and I never felt comfortable using them. So I passed on the idea.

20 years later & here I sit thinking that maybe I should just give it a go & see what I can do. But I had no education on the tools used or how to propose them. So I decided to put myself into school so I can take on the tattoo industry armed with knowledge and skill.
You see the industry has ALWAYS been a tough one to get into. You either need to know someone who can get your foot in the door or you have to become a shop slave for two years doing all the grunge work for some pretty rough characters. But if you are a woman trying to get in the industry, forget about it! It’s like a “boys only club”, and to have a woman in your shop was total taboo & looked down on. So I’m sure you can imagine the disgrace and pure hell a woman would have to go through to get an apprenticeship.

Thank God times have started to change! By getting an education through most any of the schools out there for tattooing, your two year education counts as your apprenticeship because you are taught by some pretty amazing professionals, your hours in class are counted, you build a great portfolio and you get certified in Blood Born Pathogens . So by the time you graduate, you are ready to get out there and make your way.

Well I am just over 1/2 way through the program and I am stuck! I have no way to pay my tuition. I fell on hard times just after I started school back in September last year. My mother passed unexpectedly, I used up what funds I had saved up for the burial/funeral cost and I have been doing what I need to do to survive And stay in school. I could not afford to stay where I was living anymore so I downgraded my personal items to a minimum and moved myself & fur babies into my pop up camper. I ran into a gal who was nice enough to allow us to park our new home on her property for a couple hundred a month.
So the end of November my vehicle decided to stop working. I was doing a side hustle of door dash delivery for money to pay for rent and school. But now I can not work and I have not been able to pay my tuition for December and I have been locked out of class! I don’t know how I am going to fix my car or pay for school, but I really don’t want to lose my education!!! I have fought so hard in so many ways to get where I am and I just can’t bare to lose it all now.

So I am begging for someone to please help me! I have 10 months to go to get what I need to succeed!

Hello my name is Lynda Dunn . I am a 76 year old grandmother of 2 amazing grandchildren. One is in her 2nd Premed year . And her brother who is a  A student with a GPA of 3.8 is a freshman pursuing a Engineering degree.

Our dilemma is that my grandson as a freshman cannot borrow any funds to pay this semester tuition which is due now before he can register for the next semester to start in January 3,2024 .The amount owed is $9907.00.

We have tried everything from Student loans to borrowing from Private lenders to no prevail. We are not credit worthy related to either credit scores or not being employed (in my case )or owing student loans in the past and Covid-19 that devastated our financial situation, or a combination of all of the above. To add insult to injury one of the clerks at their Financial Aid office is condescending and disrespectful and rude to the kid’s in a racial overtones.

These 2 kid’s deserve a break . They were raised by a single mother and grandmother, me. Life has not been easy for them or us in general. I am so stressed that I don’t have the money to pay for him that it’s affecting my health and at the tender age of 76 I really don’t need the stress to exacerbate my medical conditions. I won’t elaborate on that because this is about the kids not me.

This kid is an A student and is still maintaining that status even though he may have to drop out. He knows that the only way for a better life for his self is through higher education.

If only I can get $9907.00 now before December the 20th ,I can work out a possible payment plan for the next semester. It will be tough but we will have to make it work like we have ever thing else in life.

I come to you with an urgent request. I am currently halfway through my Master of Public Health program in the United States, but without immediate financial assistance, I will be unable to complete my degree.

As some background, I am the first person in my family to pursue higher education. Receiving this MPH is incredibly meaningful, as I hope to take the skills and knowledge I gain back to my home country to improve healthcare for underserved communities. My passion for public health stemmed from volunteering in rural clinics lacking basic resources. I knew more work was needed to build equitable systems.

I was awarded a partial scholarship to fund my studies, but due to an unexpected family emergency, I no longer have the means to cover the remaining tuition balance of $7,000 this semester. Without these funds by the end of this month, I will be forced to discontinue my education and return home.
