Life has a funny way of sneaking up on us. In my case, it was a surgery I never saw coming. After significant recovery time, I lost my job. Before long, late mortgage payments turned into two years and nine months past due on the house.

I was overwhelmed, always afraid of losing my home, the only place I had ever known to create memories with my family. Then I learned about a mortgage assistance program that could help people like me, who never thought they’d be in that category, lose their homes but were desperate to keep them.

I applied for the program and crossed my fingers. They didn’t just listen to my story. They acted: they arranged a loan that reinstated the entirety of the missed payments, bringing my mortgage current. But I had one caveat. My monthly mortgage payment shot up by $500, doubling it from $1,200 to $1,749.51.

It felt at first like I’d simply swapped one burden for another and that the breakthrough wouldn’t be final. Instead, I resisted letting this hitch roll back the gains I’d made and devised a side gig to continue paying the higher amount. Juggling a day job and a side gig has been no picnic but it’s worth keeping my family in a home.

My name is Dean Andrejczak. I live in Bonners Ferry, Idaho. I am 60 years old and struggling to stay current on my mortgage payments. I am married with four children, my youngest is the only one left at home.

Last winter I was unemployed from December to January and I became over extended.  I have $270k in equity and thought I could get a HELOC  loan. My house has been on the market for sale since February. We are trying to sell it to relocate to Maui, Hawaii.

However, due to it being on the market, the bank will not due a loan on it. I had few options. I discovered that there were  high interest loans available on line. I am an optimist at heart and believed that if I took them that I would get my act together and pay them off soon. I ended up taking nine small high interest loans and they are crushing me. I can’t seem to get ahead of them and they are preventing me from staying current. I am all about integrity and keeping my word. I can’t seem to get ahead of them.  I haven’t had a late payment in 4 years. After The 16th of the month I am considered late but, not 30 days late and that’s what I’m trying to avoid.

I need an angel to help me through this difficult time. I am willing to pay the money back or pay it forward.

Once the house sells I’m willing to pay it back.

We are also going to inherit a large sum of money within the year most likely. However, I need to satisfy the bills now. the mortgage waits for nothing.

I vow to do the same for someone when my ship comes in. We are one this planet to lift each other up and I didn’t ever expect to be the one lifted. I’m usually doing the lifting with small random acts of kindness. I’m in a hard spot and can’t seem to find resolution by my own means. I need to meet this obligation or I feel like I jeopardize my integrity. Please pray that my house sells before the snow flies if not sooner. Then my problem is solved.

I am here as a last resort because I don’t now know where to turn. I have exhausted all loan request and have been denied by all. I have been a first responder my entire life. (I’m 63 years old). In 2020, due to PTSD, I became disabled and unable to continue working. I applied for disability but it took me 2 years to get approved. During that time, I borrowed and borrowed to pay my obligations as I had never been behind on payments. This eventually caught up with me and the hole is so deep I can’t crawl out. I now face losing my home if I can’t come up with $3000. That is all it would take for me to reach the area where I can be back on my feet and be able to provide for my family. • I have been with the same man for 31 years, married 21. I have always been a supportive wife. It hasn’t been all that good for us the past 10 years. Recently, I finally had to admit him to a treatment center for alcoholism. He was there for 45 days. He came out sober and excited about life again. However, that life didn’t include me. He met another girl there, 16 years his junior that is also an addict. He moved out and moved her in at his new condo after knowing her for 3 months. Left me here with our mortgage and other debts. We are in the process of divorce, and he was ordered to pay me monthly. He did not want to do that. So, he lost his job purposely out of spite and is not helping me with any of our debt. I have done all I can now for 7 months alone, with lawyer fees and my other debt I have spent all I have. I only work 32 hours a week due to having Systemic Lupus. It’s a very debilitating disease that I struggle with daily. Extreme fatigue, muscle and joint pain throughout my body, and it attacks my organs. I have acute kidney failure, had pancreatitis multiple times and just recently found out I have pulmonary fibrosis. I also have severe raynauds syndrome that caused me to have multiple finger amputations. I do all I can to get by and survive, but I’m afraid to lose it all because he refuses to help me. I have two bloodhounds that I adopted a year ago. I spend a lot of money on them to give them the best life and food I can. They mean the world to me and they are large dogs that eat a lot lol. They have helped me get through all of this and I just want to keep my home with my dogs. I’m stuck right now because I can’t sell anything, I can’t refinance or make any changes until this divorce is final. I only have 4 years left on this mortgage.

Earlier this year our work had begun to dwindle and slow down due defective part from a supplier who was supplying us with some of the main parts that we needed to keep operations going so the my employer had laid me off due to a lack of work.  But then when the work had started picking back up that’s when there was a fatal incident that happened on August 1, 2024 where a fellow employee and close friend lost his life due to an accident that occurred resulting in the factory’s production being shutdown due to the order of OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administraion), who, along with local authourities, is currently investigating the matter, which resulted in the slowdown or shutdown of production until the investigation concludes.  Anyone wanting the latest news update on the tragic incident that happened at Hitachi Energy on August 1st 2024 can simply google and search for it online. I tell you, it was a very sad and tragic day for all of our Hitachi Energy family.

My name is Donald Marineau, and I am reaching out to humbly ask for help. My wife Kathy and I are facing a dire situation with our home, which is in urgent need of extensive and emergency repairs. We are struggling to manage the overwhelming costs and are in desperate need of financial assistance to restore our home to a safe and livable condition.

A bit about us: I am on disability, and my wife Kathy is a Colorado native. Our journey together has been filled with challenges, particularly over the past several years. I moved to Colorado from Texas in 2015 to support Kathy and her father, Terry, after he was hospitalized with renal failure. Although Terry survived his initial health crisis, the following six years were a difficult and painful journey as his health continued to decline. He was in and out of rehab homes, and we eventually had to bring him home due to the poor care he was receiving.

Kathy’s parents struggled with finances throughout their lives, which left them in a precarious situation. Kathy was not allowed to work for years because she needed to be home to care for her parents, who were both heavily disabled. Unfortunately, her mother, Dina, never received the Social Security or government assistance she desperately needed, leading to severe financial strain. In a desperate attempt to keep up with medical bills and basic living expenses, her parents were forced to remortgage their home three times. Despite these efforts, they were unable to pay off the mortgage, leaving Kathy with the debt after their passing.

Kathy’s mother passed away in 2011, and her father, Terry, a Vietnam veteran who served on the USS Coral Sea, passed away in 2021. The home, built in the 1980s, remains part of Terry’s estate and still has over $63,000 left on the mortgage, despite the three remortgages. When Terry passed, Kathy inherited this debt along with the house. For a time, our only source of income was my Discover credit card. Kathy eventually found a job at a gas station, where she worked incredibly hard and was promoted to lead manager. Her dedication and strong work ethic earned her the respect of her coworkers and provided us with some much-needed financial stability.

However, our home is in desperate need of repair. The roof needs to be completely replaced, and both our front and back yards are severely overgrown. The plumbing is outdated and requires significant work. While our swamp cooler is still functional, it is in poor condition and barely does its job. Our garage door no longer works, and our windows are old and inefficient, leading to high energy costs. In addition to these issues, we are dealing with a pest problem, and our floors need to be replaced. The house itself requires new paint, if not entirely new siding. On top of all these home repairs, our vehicle also needs maintenance.

The financial burden of these necessary repairs is overwhelming for us, and we simply cannot afford to address them on our own. We are trying our best to maintain the home, but the reality is that we are falling further behind, and the condition of our house is deteriorating rapidly. We are asking for any help you can provide, whether it be financial assistance, recommendations for resources, or simply sharing our story with others who might be able to help.
