I lost my dad and husband within a month of each other. I have health issues, epilepsy and autism as well as brain damage from a toxic miscarriage that I barely survived. I am under attack by someone who I testified to law officials about. I did so at the request of the parents of a young child that this person “took pictures of.” Because I spoke up this person has destroyed me financially, I am trying to get work and trying to get assistance, but I have a mortgage due that I can’t pay. Help me from losing it all.

Hi, the engine in my car blew due to a series of unfortunate events starting with filling my gas tank with fuel i didn’t expect to be drastically harmful to my vehicle. I unfortunately have not even paid half of the car loan off so getting another used car is not an option. It isn’t a new car but it was well taking care of and drove perfectly before this incident. Replacing the engine will basically get me a zero milage car that i already know and trust. Moreover i already have a payment plan that i am comfortable with altho my car insurance and rent have gone up drastically in the last year. I am usually not the kind of person who will reach out for help but the more time i am without a vehicle the less overtime i can do or look for higher paying jobs i can apply for to cover the  rising costs of  bills and food. I am currently staying with a best friend who lives 2 miles from my current job so that i can walk back and forth but it is winter and my 52yr old back and knees wont take this for very long especially after working a man  ufacturing job all day. I, who has always given without asking many times when even when i have been without am begging to be given a break to be able to stay on my feet and earn my share. Just Need a Little Help to Get Back on the Road & Back to My Son

 

Hey there,

I never thought I’d be in this position. My whole life, I’ve been the one helping others—whether it was through my work in social services, assisting homeless veterans, supporting young adults in crisis, or simply being there for people who needed a break. That’s just who I am.

But right now, I’m the one who needs a break.

A few months ago, my car’s clutch went out while I was driving. I had no choice but to leave it on the side of the road. Next thing I knew, it was towed and impounded. The cost to get it back? More than the car was even worth. At the same time, I was wrongfully evicted by my landlord, who took advantage of a legal loophole and left me scrambling for stability.

Through it all, I’ve kept working. I’ve taken every job I can, but without reliable transportation, every step forward feels like two steps back. I’m doing everything I can to stay afloat, but the reality is, I can’t truly rebuild without a car.

Why This Matters

More than anything, I need to get back to my son. He lives three hours away with his mom—who’s an amazing mother—but since losing my car, I haven’t been able to see him at all. I may not have full custody, but I have always been present in his life. I don’t want him to think I disappeared or that I stopped caring. He needs to know his dad is fighting, not just for himself, but for him.

I’m not asking for a handout. I’m asking for a hand up—a chance to get back on my feet and be the father, the worker, and the person I know I am.

Get me back to steady work, so I can stop just treading water and start moving forward.

Wrecked Car and Cannot Pay off Debt

Hello,

My name is Oliver. I don’t come from much – my mother had brain cancer from the time I was 2 until she passed when I was 19. She raised me alone on a $750 disability check. My father refused to contribute financially to my well being after I graduated from high school, despite being my only, living parent after 2020.

I went to college on government money, and do not have much student loan debt, but I got a job as a news producer after I graduated and left that position after 2 years for what I thought was a better opportunity. It ended up being a multi-level marketing scheme, so I took a different job selling metal roofing, which I wasn’t good at.

I was unemployed for 3 months at the end of 2024 and had to live off of my credit cards, so I now have $5,000 in credit card debt which I’m not going to be able to pay. I also unfortunately wrecked my daily driver and cannot yet pay the $2,500 to fix it, I am currently limping the car back and forth from work, but not being able to go long distance has made it difficult to get to the doctor for blood work, and to the post office, etc. Now I’m a server/bartender making $1,000 a month after tax and struggling to keep a roof over my head.

I plan to go back to college for my master’s degree in Fall of 2025, but I am not making enough to pay my bills, let alone save money. I am trying to get another job or even two in the meantime, because I want to keep the job I already have so my work history isn’t tarnished by high turnover.

I was scammed! Please Help!

Hello everyone

Unfortunately I was the victim of a scam last year. The person who I thought was kind was actually a scammer and I ended up sending them $10,000 dollars from my credit cards in order to receive a large donation. I should have known better to never give anything to receive a donation. Huge mistake. I don’t know why I didn’t realize it. It’s like my mind was asleep. It’s been difficult for me the last few months. My credit cards have been charged off and I am now with a debt settlement program. I have no money in my savings. Disabled and 10 Point Buck Just Totalled My Car

Hello, all you amazing and unbelievably kind individuals out there!

I’m in a bit of a pickle, and I’m hoping you can help me out. Picture this: I’m driving home, only a mile away, minding my own business at night, when out of nowhere, a 10-point buck decides to make a grand entrance—or should I say, exit—using my car as his stage. This colossal deer, apparently a fan of extreme sports, leaps from a 7-foot embankment right into my path. With oncoming traffic and no shoulder on this backroad, swerving was out of the question.

Long story short, the deer is fine in heaven now, my car—totaled.

I’m disabled and on SSDI, which means working overtime to cover the costs isn’t an option for me. I’ve managed to save up $2,000 so far, but decent used cars are around $5,000 (out the door price). This includes title, taxes, and first months insurance in the (out the door price). I’m only $3,000 short of getting a used car that I desperately need. I just don’t have money I can save. The 2000 was what I could get help with from my family, some friends, and doing some embroidery work here and there for some people.

My doctor’s appointments are an hour away, and living in a rural area makes Ubering extremely expensive. Unfortunately, I don’t qualify for state benefits because I make $7 too much through SSDI, which means I’m not “poor enough” according to the state.

Just one wish!

Hello my name is Teri and I am an Alameda fire survivor.  Although the Alameda fire happened in Talent, Oregon in 2020 I am still lost and looking for direction.  I have been an artist and photographer for 20+ years.  (you can view my work here: fineartamerica.com/profiles/teri-schuster) I lost everything I owned and held dear in the Alameda fire!  20 years of my own photography and 30 years of my own artwork along with countless other precious irreplaceable items.  Since the fire in 2020 I made many attempts to seek any amount of help from my community, nonprofit groups, the government and FEMA.  No one could have prepared me for the nightmare that would follow after losing everything in the Alameda fire!!

Instead of being met with compassionate, patient and understanding by staff/employees of my community, the nonprofit groups, the government and FEMA I was faced with being bullied, harassed and threatened by FEMA employees.  All because I was trying to stand up and defend myself.  I reached out to everyone I thought would be willing to help stop all the abuse from FEMA employees and was met with silence!  I contacted Senators Wyden and Merkley, The legislative chair for Jackson county Pam Marsh, several local attorneys, the local DA, FEMA itself, the local newspaper, other newspapers outside of Oregon that I thought would care enough to want to run a story, local police and sheriff.  No one would help me get out of the dangerous situation I was in while living in a FEMA trailer park. NO ONE was willing to stand up against FEMA claiming they were untouchable!

After almost waiting two years for housing assistance and being constantly harassed by FEMA and its employees I gave up and moved in with my mom.  During this time in the FEMA trailer park my dad had passed away leaving my mom to live alone.  My 12 year old kitty, Cheetoe had to be put to sleep the following year! As much as I want to be here for my mom, I long to have my independence back.  See…the townhome that burned down below the foundation in the Alameda fire was my home that I rented for 11 years.  My entire life was wrapped up in that place!  I just want to have a space I can call my own again where I am free to be me (if I even know who that is anymore?) where I can exhale and heal from all I have lost and been through!  My own space where I can create new art again!

I am asking for assistance here because I also suffer from medical issues from a car accident back in 2001.  I have not slept more than an hour every 3 days in 25 years.  I also suffer from PTSD, severe Fibromyalgia, Dercum’s disease, an anxiety disorder, nerve damage and pain along with restless leg syndrome.  I have tried so many different avenues to resolve my sleep with no success!  for example; hypnotherapy, acupuncture, sleep meds both over the counter and prescribed.  These medical issues make it difficult for me to find work let alone even get through the interview process so I could afford my own place again!

I am reaching out today with a humble request for financial assistance. The past few months have been an incredibly challenging period in my life, and I am grappling with multiple hardships that have left me in dire need of support. Despite my best efforts, I am unable to manage the weight of these burdens alone.

Tragically, my mother recently passed away. She was a guiding light in my life, and her death has left a void that cannot be filled. Her final wishes were simple and dignified, desiring a cremation that would allow her to rest in peace. Unfortunately, I am struggling to afford the cremation costs due to a series of financial setbacks. The thought of not being able to honor her last wishes is heart-wrenching, as she meant the world to me.

Adding to this distress, I was recently laid off from my job. It will be another 1-2 months before the work is steady enough for me to return. I paint homes and due to the winter season we are limited to indoor work. This sudden loss of income has made it impossible to pay my bills, now at risk of loosing my apartment and my stability in shambles. Being 100% on my own for the first time in my life in a new city with no friends or family. I have been diligently looking into all resources but the process has been slow and demoralizing. Each passing day brings new bills and expenses, and I am barely managing to keep my head above water. I am scared where all my downfalls are going to lead me. Going back to school would be a dream come true but that is far from any reality for me at this point in my life.

Compounding these difficulties, I am also in the end of a painful divorce and the beginning of a custody battle for my beloved 7-year-old daughter. lawyers fees and relocation have drained the small amount of savings I had managed to attain in the 12 year relationship with my ex husband, being a stay at home mom had many loving rewards as a mother, yet the reality that I had no financial means other than what was allowed per his control. Ive come to realize I have a low credit score as I never have established any with all accounts for everything related in his name. My idependance has never been known to exist and that needs to change, with all my confidence broken, I still will not give up!  My ex-husband has been manipulative and controlling throughout our relationship, and his influence continues to cast a shadow over my life. Fighting for custody of my daughter has been emotionally and financially draining and I still have a long way to go, possibly without a reliable lawyer.  She is my greatest joy, and I want to provide her with a safe and loving environment, free from the toxicity of the past.

I am doing everything in my power to rebuild my life and create a stable future for my daughter and myself. However, the financial strain is overwhelming, and I am struggling to meet even the most basic needs. With no family support or resources to fall back on, I am left to navigate these challenges alone. The inability to pay for my mothers cremation has been keeping me up at night and the reason for me to come here. Pleading for some compassion some kindness and my hope that maybe others have felt just how demoralizing life can become, A chance to survive this is all I ask. I just need a “leg to stand on” with that I will climb one ladder rung at a time to stability and I will confidently smile again

Looking for help , I got scammed out of all the money I saved to start a business

I have worked for several years in marketing as a single mom without child support or any help from their father or anyone, to pay my bills , feed my kids , keep a roof over their head all while saving every penny I could to one day invest it in starting my own marketing agency to help businesses with their seo and to get their businesses of the ground and running.  I invested in a couple different programs that I believed were going to help me get my business of the ground and running asap. Turns out I got scammed so I’m out all the money I put in and have 2 loans out that I’m having a hard time paying every month because I was promised that I’d start making money within months and would be bringing in more then enough to pay the loans payment. It didn’t work that way and was a scam to get 20,000 plus out of me and now because I can’t pay the loans on time it’s ruined my credit and my credit cards are maxed out and my car just took a shit and it’s on a loan too and now because I can’t get out of this hole I can’t even go trade my car In on one that works !!
