After years of saving, my husband and I finally bought our dream home. It wasn’t extravagant—a small house two bedroom, one bath—but it was ours. We were so excited, imagining a lifetime of memories within those walls.

Six months after moving in, everything changed. I had to undergo emergency surgery for a sudden health issue. The recovery was tough, and the medical bills started piling up. Even with insurance, the out-of-pocket costs were staggering. My husband reassured me we’d figure it out together.

I am 53 years old. I have worked at home for over 10 years. Recently I was laid off for the 2nd time in 2 years because of work force needs. I love to work but it has been more then 5 months and I am unable to find a position that I can do. I have Parkinsons and I am unable to drive to work onsite. I have been turned down for perfect jobs because of credit. I have tried to pay all bills but when you are on unemployment, which is almost out, you can only pay the important bills. At this point I am behind on everything except my home. I need around $5000 to keep my power and gas on as well as pay off my credit so I can get the positions I qualify for.
