Picking up the pieces after losing my job

Hi everyone,

Two months ago, I unexpectedly lost my 7 year job. Work wasn’t just a paycheck to me. It was stability. It was routine. It was knowing that at the end of the month, the bills would be paid and there would be food on the table.

Since then, I’ve barely slept. I’ve spent long nights staring at the ceiling, calculating how long my savings will last, worrying about rent, utilities, groceries and the basic things we all need but often take for granted until they feel unreachable.

Losing my job has shaken me, but it hasn’t taken away my determination. I’m still hopeful. I’m still trying. And I believe this setback can eventually become the start of something new.

I’ve been applying everywhere I can. Updating my resume. Sending emails. Trying to stay positive during interviews. I wake up every day determined to fight my way back to stability. Unfortunately, the reality is that the job market takes time but the bills don’t wait.

Asking for help doesn’t come naturally to me. I’ve always believed in working hard and standing on my own two feet. Right now I’m facing a gap between what I have and what I need just to get through the next few months.

Your support would help cover essential expenses while I continue searching for work to keep a roof over my head and give me the breathing room to focus on finding the right opportunity instead of panicking about tomorrow.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story. Truly.

I’d like to enjoy my golden years!

My name is Joe and I am 70 years old. Born and raised here in Michigan, I’ve never really seen any other part of our beautiful country. I’ve had many struggles, including two failed marriages that left me in deep financial debt and I had my fiancé pass away during a very intimate moment due to a stroke caused by a brain aneurysm. I got lost inside myself for almost 5 years after that. I’ve managed to get through most of it and now I would love to just kick back and enjoy my golden years. But with the debt I have and my monthly bills I can’t afford to go anywhere. Between my mortgage, car payment and a couple of credit cards I am approximately $107,000 in debt. I also have a few medical bills but I think I can get buy with those, it’s only a grand more. So I guess really $110,000 in debt. If this was gone I could afford to travel and see the Grand Canyon and the beautiful mountain ranges we have here in our beautiful country. I’d love to ask for more for a really nice vacation, but I’m not wanting to be greedy I just want to be out of debt. I don’t want to leave this world missing out. I also have sisters in North Carolina and South Carolina that I haven’t seen in years and I really miss them. The one in NC I haven’t seen since 2013 when our father passed away and the one SC I haven’t seen since around 2000 when mom passed away. I’d like to see them before it’s too late! I’m hoping I have another 25+ years to enjoy what I’ve missed my first 70 years. I am in very good health aside from Rheumatoid arthritis. [Read more…]

Trying to Build Financial Security for My Parents Before It’s Too Late

For the past five months, I’ve been deeply focused on improving my financial literacy and building long-term wealth. I’ve realized that my parents have little to no retirement savings, and I want to change that reality for them.

They’ve worked hard their entire lives. Unfortunately, they don’t have the financial cushion they’ll need as they age. I don’t want them facing stress, instability, or dependence on limited government support.

I’ve started investing and building a portfolio with the goal of creating stable, long-term income that can help support them. I’m doing everything I can to grow it responsibly, but building capital takes time.

I’m seeking support to accelerate that process so I can create a larger financial foundation sooner rather than later. Every contribution would go directly toward long-term investments aimed at generating income for my parents’ future.

I’m not asking for luxuries. I’m asking for help building security for the people who raised me.

If you’re willing to help, even in a small way, I would be deeply grateful.

Student Loans and Emergency Funds

Hello, my name is Mason Groves. I am 22 years old and will be turning 23 in a week. I am currently enrolled in an online graduate program at National University in California. I am reaching out because I am experiencing serious financial hardship at a critical time in my academic journey and urgently need assistance, whether through emergency funds, temporary financial relief, or guidance toward available resources.

I recently enrolled in a course that is scheduled to begin on Monday, March 2nd. To enroll in the assigned course, I was charged a loan of up to $2,000 to cover tuition and associated fees. While I am committed to continuing my education and worked extremely hard to be accepted into this program, I am now facing an unexpected financial crisis that threatens my ability to remain enrolled. At the moment, I am having significant issues with my bank. My only active bank account is at risk of closure due to a negative balance resulting from overpaying bills. I have been attempting to resolve the issue, but I have been informed that if the balance is not corrected within the next two to three days, the account will be permanently closed. If this happens, I will be left without a bank account and without access to the financial infrastructure necessary to manage tuition payments, student loans, or other essential expenses.

If my account is closed within two days, I will not be able to cover the tuition owed to the university, including any additional college fees. This could result in being dropped from the course, denied enrollment, or being forced to take on loans that I am currently in no position to repay. Without my financial stability, I risk jeopardizing both my academic progress and my long-term financial future. I respectfully request any assistance available—whether financial support, short-term emergency funding, or guidance toward programs that could help me stabilize my situation. I am deeply committed to my education and to improving my circumstances, but I need immediate support to prevent this setback from becoming increasingly desperate. Any help during this difficult time would mean more than I can express. I am determined to continue pursuing my degree and build a better future, and I would be incredibly grateful for any assistance that could help me overcome this financial hardship. If you can do that, then I would forever appreciate it.

“Starting Our Family and Our Future — Seeking a Little Help During a Life Transition

Life has a way of changing direction when you least expect it. Right now, my partner and I are in the middle of one of the biggest transitions of our lives — preparing to finally be together in the same country while also getting ready to welcome a child. It’s a time filled with hope, love, and excitement, but also real financial pressure that we are trying our best to carry on our own.

We have been planning our move and immigration process carefully, working hard to shoulder the costs and responsibilities ourselves. However, the pregnancy came as a surprise that neither of us planned for. While unexpected, it has become something deeply meaningful to us, and we have chosen to embrace this new life with love and commitment. Our focus now is creating a stable and safe environment for our baby while continuing to build our future together.

The challenge we are facing is timing. Immigration processes require a significant amount of money to be available at once, and at the same time we are preparing for the arrival of our child. While we both fully intend to continue working and supporting ourselves long term, the overlap of these major life events has created a short-term financial gap that feels overwhelming at times.

Any support we receive would go directly toward creating a buffer so we can move forward with stability and less stress. Specifically, donations would help cover:

• Immigration and application fees required to complete the process properly

• Legal and documentation costs involved in the move

• Currency exchange fluctuations so we don’t fall short when payments are due

• Basic baby preparation expenses to ensure our child has what they need

• A small emergency cushion so we can handle unexpected costs without panic

We are not looking for a way out of responsibility, but rather a little help during a moment when life has brought several big changes all at once. Even a small contribution would mean more than just financial help — it would bring peace of mind and allow us to focus on staying healthy, preparing for our baby, and continuing to work toward independence.

Our dream is simple: to begin this next chapter with stability, love, and the ability to provide a secure start for our child. Reaching out like this is humbling, but we believe kindness exists in the world, and sometimes it’s okay to ask for a little help when you are doing your best to move forward.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for taking the time to read our story and for any support you may choose to give. Your compassion truly makes a difference.

A Single Mom In Need of Help!

Hello,

I am a 46-year-old former Department of the Treasury (DOT) employee who was released from my position during the 2025 government shutdown. I have been unemployed since September 30, 2025, and I’m waiting to hear if a callback will be done. Without the pay and insurance from DOT, I am having so many problems with getting groceries, medications, and doctor visits paid for. My car was repossessed because I could no longer make the payment.

Before the shutdown, I was able to comfortably live on $3,000 a month, but now I just live on my social security income of $1,300 a month. With this income, I now must juggle rent, bills, groceries, and figure out which medicines I would be able to pay for, and pray I do not have an emergency because the emergency room’s copay is $200, which I cannot pay. I have asked my family, but they are unable to help. I thought I wouldn’t ever have to feel the same way as when I left my abusive ex-husband with my 3 young children and nothing else 10 years ago. I scraped and saved my money to get my family out of public housing, poverty, and debt. So, I’m desperately and shamelessly asking for financial help from completely gracious strangers; I know it’s a lot, but I am requesting silently for $8,000.

Unfortunately, the fear of an emergency has come to light, and I need to reassess my situation. Allow me to explain and try not to make it sound like a doctor’s office visit. Last month, I started spring cleaning my home, and I tried to flip my Queen-size mattress by myself. When I lifted it, there was a severe stabbing, stretching pain along my spine and across my lower back, and I was pretty sure I just pulled a muscle. However, I continued to use Tylenol and NSAIDs, ice, heat, and massages as well. The pain is getting worse, and I can actually rate the pain as 7/10, stabbing pain, made worse by movement and lying down. The pain radiates down my leg, down the middle of my back, and around to the sides of my back. I have never had back pain this bad before.

I could not see my primary doctor, so I was set up with another doctor on the team. He said it was a pulled muscle, gave me muscle relaxers, and exercises. But 4 days later, the home exercises I was given made the pain much worse. So, when I tried to get another appointment with this doctor, I was seen by a different doctor on the team. He ordered an X-ray of my spine. After my back was x-rayed, the doctor was very concerned, and I don’t mind sharing the radiologist’s findings from the back x-ray:

“Mild left thoracolumbar spinal curvature is seen.  A moderate compression fracture deformity is seen at T10, a new finding since the prior chest x-ray. Remaining vertebral body heights are maintained. Significant bilateral facet arthropathies noted L4-S1 with moderate anterolisthesis L4/L5.”

Now, all this pain makes sense, but I must have an MRI for the surgeon I’m being sent for consideration of decompression surgery, or Anterior Lumbar Interbody Fusion (ALIF), because it may be necessary to stabilize the spine and relieve the nerve pressure. However, paying the copays and doctor visits is just depleting the little money I have left for food, medications, and transportation. Please understand that I do have insurance from a Social Security disability claim and Medicare. However, it does not cover everything, and I have not met the deductible for the year, so every charge and fee is out of pocket.

I’ve always been the type of person who, if someone is sick, in need of help, or passes away, I would bring them food, assist with whatever and wherever they needed help. I hate being vulnerable like this and not being able to do what I can do normally. I mean, I cried when my friend came to my apartment and made my family dinner because I could not do it myself.

I understand this pain is probably temporary, but it is still daunting and very frustrating to try to think about getting better when solving my money problems and paying for doctors, x-rays, and MRIs are so incredibly in my face.

As I stated earlier, I’m so desperately and shamelessly asking for financial help; I know it’s a lot, but I am requesting silently $8,000. Again, I know it’s so much to ask for, but I cannot be so brazen as to ask for more. With your help, I believe I can handle expenses like these and live only on Social Security now. I just want to LIVE, not just survive. I want to find a nice car and experience peace without the fear of abuse, and happiness once again without the fear of being stolen from us. I want to feel safe in my own home and not wonder if I’ll be alive the next day to see my children.

Thank you, truly, to whoever has taken the time to not only read this, hopefully, but to help me escape all I’ve known and reach for a better tomorrow for my children and me.

If anyone can help with any monetary amount, it would be greatly appreciated. Please use PAYPAL for all donations: http://paypal.me/leoscourage

Trying really hard not to give up

Hello, I am a 53 yr old woman, my entire adult life has been a constant struggle.  I survived an abusive first husband, a drunk for a second husband, while raising my 4 kids. After my kids grew up and moved out to start there own lives, I got mixed up with the wrong people and I ended up homeless for 7 yrs.  In 2020 someone gave me a chance to move out of the state of California and start a new life in Oregon.  When I moved to Oregon I promised myself I would never let myself end up back on the streets.  Up until about a year and half ago it was easy to keep that promise.  It started out when I was working for a hotel as a front desk receptionist. I absolutely loved that job. Two months in I was fired and was told that is was an over staffing issue. I cried for a week. Then 2 weeks later, my truck broke down.  I couldnt afford to fix it so I had to sell it.  It took me 9 months to find another job. I was depressed, I love working it makes me feel like Im worth something. I finally found a job that i enjoyed and 2 weeks into that job i fell in my bedroom and shattered my ankle. I had to have surgery and was layed up for a couple months.  Thankfully my boss held my job for me to return to when i was cleared by the doctor.  I was working 40 plus hours a week which was great.  I was able to get my own place and another vehicle.  Well a month after i got my new place, my hours were cut down to 20 a week. So i lost my place to live and was living out of my car. Then business got really slow and i was laid off.  So once again i am homeless without a job. I have sent my resume to businesses all over the state of Oregon. I got enrolled in online college thru grand canyon university. I decided to get my Bachelors in Hospitality and Tourism Management.  Then i find out that my financial aid wasnt approved because they say i was enrolled in 2007. Well I was not. I have been trying to get a hold of the education people but cant a a phone call back.  I had received emails from some hotels wanting to interview me in a town 3 hours away from where I am currently located. I was planning on going this week to where my interviews were. Last week the transmission in my car decided to start leaking really bad. So now I am without a vehicle again.

I have been working really hard to make my life better.  Every time there is a glimpse of hope that things might start going in my favor, a big black cloud stomps it out. I feel like my life is cursed and Im trying really hard not to give up.

I know I can find a reliable gas efficient car for under $3000. I’ve got $500 saved. I still have my car insurance so that wont be a problem.  It shouldn’t cost much to register in my name. I have been depressed because I am not working and I cant get to the interviews that are scheduled.

If anyone is willing to help me out, it would help change life. I really want to get back on my feet and this will help.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read my story.

God Bless

Single mother seeking help to catch up bills

Hello,

My name is JaMaria, I am a divorced single mom of 5. I am here today putting my pride aside to ask for help. I am struggling bad, and I feel as if im drowning and just in need of help. They say when it rains, it pours, and thats literally what i have been going through. I fell ill with pneumonia and the flu and had to be hospitalized for almost 2wks with 0 PTO hours to use, and that started my downpour season.

Ever since my stint in the hospital, I have gotten behind on bills and it has been one thing after the other. I came back home to no hot water, due to the water heater malfunctioning. My car decided everything wanted to breakdown all right behind eachother. My brakes were vibrating and I had to get those and the rotors replaced. Right after paying for that, my spark plug went out. With this car being the only transportation for my kids and I, I had no choice but to get it fixed. I tried to be cost efficient and found a pick and pull that had plugs for a reasonable price and found a mechanic that agreed to install it for a great price, and he did, but it only lasted about a month and a half and that one went out too, so I had to repurchase another one and pay the guy all over again to do the newer one. The motor went out in my outside AC unit, and we spent the entire summer burning up and the winter with space heaters on max, and now its getting warm again. The light bill has been steadily skyrocketing and is now over $300, even though I made sure to shut off the breaker switch after the AC went out, but they want to charge to have someone come look at what’s causing it and im overwhelmed. Food has gotten ridiculously high and I dont qualify for food assistance because I make $10 more than the threshold allows, and where I used to be able to fill up the fridge and deep freezer for $200, I now barely have enough to get through the week feeding a house size of 6 for the same amount. I have gotten behind on several things, and I just need help catching back up. I was able to manage and maintain the bills before I got sick, but once I missed those days unpaid, it unleashed a domino effect on my life and everything started down spiraling. Anything helps, I just truly need a chance to get caught back up so I can breathe again, and im willing to do whatever I can.

If you are able, my cashapp name is $JazzyJae890 & my paypal link is paypal.me/JTHOMAS2905

I thank you & I truly appreciate you!

4 Days Until Eviction

Hello,

I am really losing faith and finding it hard to want to carry on… A little over a year ago I lost my job. I’ve applied in person and online, walked miles, been to countless interviews… and nothing. Unemployment ran out months ago. I got behind on my rent, and my mailbox was marked as abandoned so I never received notice of a court date for an eviction hearing.

I am the only caretaker for my elderly father. He has heart failure, and due to injuries when he was younger can’t move around all that well. He receives a small amount monthly which we’ve used for keeping the heat on and enough groceries to get by.

I thought things were starting to turn around. I got a job finally, last week. My landlord won’t accept a payment plan. My only options are to pay them in full, or leave.

Currently I owe $12,250. I can maybe cover 10% of that on my own. But there is no way I can get the rest in the next couple of days. I don’t know what else to do…

Any help would be most greatly appreciated.

Read Me Please, Family In need!

paypal.me/NaidiasDream

I hope this message finds you well. I am a single mother of two wonderful children whom I love dearly. I’ve always been budget-conscious, sticking to a strict grocery and bill list, but recently, my financial situation has become more challenging.

My son is in middle school and involved in sports, which adds up quickly—expenses like shoes, activity fees, and transportation for practices and games. My daughter, on the other hand, faces several health challenges and doesn’t have the ability to hold a job or drive. It’s likely she will remain with me at home forever, and I’m grateful for the support we’ve received from some amazing people along the way.

I’ve always believed in paying it forward. Unfortunately, we recently lost a friend who contributed significantly to our household expenses, and now, I’m the sole provider. While I am starting a second job to help make ends meet, it pains me to think of the extra hours I will be away from my children.

We really need assistance to maintain our home, a place that has provided stability for my kids since birth. Managing our bills and utilities has become increasingly difficult. I would love to provide my children with new clothes or even a simple dinner out, but any help would be invaluable right now.

I understand this is a lot to ask, and it’s taken a great deal of courage for me to reach out. I assure you, I am committed to handling this situation the right way—without resorting to harmful behaviors.

If you or anyone you know is in a position to help, it would mean the world to us. I sincerely appreciate your consideration and thank you for taking the time to read my message.

With heartfelt gratitude,

Please Help Me With My Rent

Hello, my name is Lera

I’m requesting for rental assistance please; I was laid off in November 2025, I was able to get my rent paid in December and January with my last 2 paycheck, and I’m currently looking for a new job. I’m requesting for help with my rent for this month February and March please. My monthly rent $1500, I was able to pay $400 at the beginning of this month but I still have a balance owned of $1155 ($55 late fee) for February and March payment. If I can get help with both months, I would be so grateful; this is my first time hearing about a community like this, I saw someone speaking about it on YouTube in my search for trying to get help. My landlord is understanding because in 3 years living here, I have been late 3 times. So that’s why my late fee is only $55 but I have to get my balance paid ASAP.

Thank you in advance you a certainly appreciated, please let me know if anything additional is needed.

Nana Needing Some Help

Hello,

I am not one to ask for help like this, but things have become bad enough that it’s necessary.
I was a nurse, worked through Covid, raised my 4 children, plus 2 more.  I am unable to work any longer due to rotolevoscoliosis (bent and twisted spine), Median Arcuate Ligament syndrome, Fibromuscular Dysplasia (both latter put me at risk of aneurysm).  Also I’ve been losing my hearing since I was a teen.  Now that I can’t work, I can’t afford the good aides any longer.  I have CPTSD from abusive relationships and emotionally abusive father.
My eldest son completed suicide in April of 2019.  I was able to keep working and after two years I crashed.  It took me until August 2025 to get my disability.  I had to sell things to keep going and have been staying with friends.
I bought a house at 28, after having been widowed at 23 with two children.  I later married a psychologically and emotionally abusive man.  He basically forced me into selling my house, after I signed him onto the mortgage.  It would have been paid off 4 years ago and I would still have my classic car as well.  He took everything in the divorce and I let him so I could protect our daughter.
I am in need of a vehicle and a place to stay (preferably my own place, but I will be grateful even for something temporary).  I don’t care if it is a cabin in the woods, a motorhome, or an apartment in the ghetto, I would fix it up and make it beautiful.  I believe in taking care of things as if they belonged to someone else.  I was always taught that.
I really need to concentrate on my health and getting better, as well as my grandchildren.  I want to enjoy them, not have to miss them growing.
I was also going to leave my home to my children when I die.  I would have had like $350,000 in equity right now.
That is basically my story.  I would much rather go back to nursing, I am not the type to sit around.  But my body won’t let me at this point.  I may have back surgery later this year, I do not have a place to go back to after surgery.
Please consider helping me get a second chance in my elder years.  Thank you for reading.

Have fallen behind due to helping our kids

Hello.  Thank you for reading this.  I have never done anything like this before, but am running out of options.

Our two children fell on hard times at the end of the year and we helped them save their homes, keep their utilities on, etc.  Now unfortunately we have fallen behind and owe three months mortgage.  We need 5000.00 to get caught up before the end of the month.

We have been in our home for five years, have been slowly updating it with the plan to sell it in five years for a smaller, more affordable  forever home.  The mortgage payments have risen over the past five years due to tax and home owners insurance exponentially rising each year, despite never having a claim.   We cannot take out a HELOC or refinance due to credit score being just below the threshold.

We are prepared to pay the money back if desired- monthly payments until we get caught up.   We are running out of options and time.

Thank you for your consideration.
