Help me to take my life back

My name is Rosie. I never needed to ask for help, but right now life is a complicated and I am desesperate.

I’ve been struggling with the same situation for a long time. Sometimes I sleep in my friends old car or in a shelter and it’s not life. It’s to cold now and it’s embarrassing me a lot. Medical bills and unexpected illness

Hi I am a 3 time cancer survivor who was currently diagnosed with severe asthma and copd. Even with insurance my medical bills have piled up and my husband can’t even afford to take off and take care of me and the kids. We recently had our 15 year old autistic daughter move out into a group home and before we had to make that decision she tore up our house busting holes in the wall and teared up furniture. Our driveway is also a mess with potholes all in it and our porch is falling apart. My husband will have his job shut down for two weeks around Christmas and we won’t have money for bills or food because had to use all his vacation time and paid time off on several of my health issues including knee surgery last December. Hello my name is Shawnda I have always worked as many jobs as I can. This time last year I was in my 30 the year of being a nail tech and also had a side hustle for 15 years mowing grass…. We. That was my moving in money .. and he stole a credit card from me charging over 3,000 do I had to say at a hotel extended day place for 6 months  paying 400 a week … couldn’t afford food I lost 40 lbs and just a struggle to survive.  So he has ruined my life.  My credit score was almost 800 now it490 and no one will help me. I have applied at threat 600 times and still no one will help me. I didn’t do this to myself and no one will even give me a chance. I have had to sell everything I own just to survive. Ever meet that person , that if they didn’t have BAD luck they would have NO luck at all? That’s me!

I hope someone reads this, that can relate to my situation and could help me out.

I need a Civil Lawyer in the worst way. I’m not able to pay the Average $5000 retainer that almost all of them want (for a decent attorney with experience) up front.

I have tried to get a pro Bono one, which is almost impossible in my state. If I lived a couple hundred miles north, it would a possibility but as I have research for weeks now…its really a not gonna happen here!

I’ve checked the low income lawyer assistance sites, the bar association, and every probono page I could find. They were all willing to assist in filing paperwork, and how to fill it all out. Not go to court on your behalf with you, so you would have a fighting chance against people that have pretty good attorneys.

I have a great case against them too. There’s NO WAY they could beat me on this. I’ll give you the short version…

 

I moved onto a family friends property in my motor home, as I needed a serious surgery for a full pelvic collapse. Then covid hit and they stopped all “elective” surgeries until further notice. Still don’t see how it was considered elective?!?! Anyhow, it had been canceled and now the whole country was in lock down.

We had agreed that instead of paying rent, that I would HELP out on the property. They had 2 pregnant mares, a stray cat and acreage that had NOT been cared for in years, as well as a toddler. They both worked full time, and asked (before covid hit) if I would HELP with the2 horses, and Help out with yard stuff, and watch the little one when something would come up, or he would be sick and couldn’t go to daycare. Seemed agreeable to me.  Oh yeah, as well as I would pay rent when I had my surgery and wouldn’t be able HELP do the physical things for a while. The first mistake I made…not getting anything in writing! Not sure if you seen the HELP them or not. That would mean they would be involved in some way. They were at first, but it gradually just stopped all together, and I was taking care of ALL 6 horses (the mares had their babies and they purchased 2 more), the now I think it was 10 chickens as well as 5 turkeys, their toddler full time as well as the property and having to keep up their house(for people that are beyond lazy as to picking up after themselves). Not to mention ALL the little projects the wife said needed done.

Mind that I was now having to work more hours than a full time job, and not being paid, just parking my motorhome on the property with an extension cord for power. No water and I paid every other month for my septic to be dumped. Sorry to have to tell you this, but back 5 years ago, the cost of an RV space with full hook up was only $350 a month plus electric at the coast. The hours and expected duties I was being asked to do so passed what I would have paid for rent ANYWHERE. I mean at minimum wage(then) of even $10hr at 40 hrs a week(5days a week( is $400 a week, right? What if your days went from let’s say 7:30 and ended anywhere from 5:30 to 8pm, with the usual NO call or notice of the common LATE evenings. And Heaven forbid you text and ask if they had a time frame on when they would be home, as they wouldn’t answer the majority of the time anyway.

So needless to say…my average work week was over 60 hours a week. Then there were the weekends when she would be home (he worked every other weekend at first) and expect me to still take care of ALL her animals and property. When I tried to say something about it to her, she would make a comment like ” maybe we’re not a good fit anymore”, and how the typical stall cleaners worked 7 days a week. When I told her that was a lie(as I previously worked at a 60+ stall facility) and only occasionally  did they even work 6 days a week, and only to cover someone else when they were sick. Besides which, I wasn’t a stall cleaner. I had become a full time child care, house keeper, cook, landscaper, animal care taker, maintenance worker, etc. They were getting a lot more out of the arrangement than if I had just paid them rent. I got off track, sorry. Okay, at just 40hs=$400 a week, which is $1600 a month. Not counting the average let’s say15-25 hours extra each week about 8 months of the yr, and 10hrs a week extra the rest of the time. Oh yeah, did I mention that I was there to HELP them with these things!

All this would be hard for the average healthy person. Now, how do you think a person with multiple auto immune diseases, diabetes, and MS, as well as there because needed surgery, but covid still had all non life threatening surgeries put on hold, doing all this? Well that’s me, and when I had to leave the property recently for a devided 3 weeks to help my parents, all hell broke loose. I came back to a “you need to move,Now!”. What the H*llc?

After all these 5 yrs being here in my RV, she decided they aren’t set up for an RV. Why??? Because according to her.. ” you could have said No!” Excuse me, my mom is a double transplant recipient with numerous other health issues, and my dad is on dialysis.  Both of which were extremely sick and in and out of hospital. But she had become accustomed to having a SLAVE around to bid her calling.  She was pussed because I was helping someone else.

But my body has been through hell out here doing all this stuff for them, and already told them I couldn’t do everything anymore, so she was already irritated at that. But they were happy enough with my work, to ask if I wanted to move up to their other property that her mom gave them and help get it ready for a barn, home etc. To be put on it(10acres). I said I wasn’t sure about wether my body could take it or not, and left it at that. Now she is saying. That I’ve been here for 5 yrs and never even paid rent, that the agreement was to be for a fee months. EXCUSE ME???

What about all the work,the supplies never reimbursed for, even though promised I would get back? As well as all the projects done, like chicken coup, stall pasture making and leveling, cleaning hay barn, so it could hold hay, cleaning out barn as it was so covered in webs(it took 2 days with2 people to get it dome),getting a water line to barn(they ran into spicket attached to wall) they broke in about 2 weeks, burning piles and piles of rotten trees, brush, etc. That I cleaned up, and that doesn’t even include all the work done in the back yard.

What about the almost full yr of child care that you gave me $50 for, after telling me they paid $950 a month before me. And the cheapest quote gotten to put the water line in was I believe just under $12000. The moss taken off their roof, which they only Paid $100, and I did too because they were gone( going rate…over $2000), as well as the New John Deer Riding mower I was able to get them with a warranty for under $500(look them up), oh yeah, a $3500 metal carport (20′ × 30′) for  $250, and another one(10×12) for $100, and the list goes on. All that was supposed to be covering my staying. But she just keeps saying I have been there 5 yrs and never paid rent!.

When I told her we could add up all the hours I have worked, projects done and money not reimbursed,and when I leave she would still owe me a boat load of money.

All I get from her is ” you were only supposed to stay a few months”, and when I asked her about her wanting me to stay, everything done and her wanting to go to the property, she doesn’t respond or threatens to have my motor home and car towed off.

All the while, she still won’t tell me why, all of the sudden she wants me gone.

I’m on a limited income, I can’t pay all at once what it will take to get the motorhome road ready(after sitting 5 yrs),  filling the gas tank alone is over $200, then having to license it  again is almost $300, and my flatbed she borrowed to haul hay then parked at her parents instead of here suddenly has no wiring, when it did have, and all worked when she used it, so that’s going to take a few hundred dollars, since they said they don’t know what happened to it and it’s not their concern. Really???

With these friends, I’d rather deal with enemies. Anyway I gotta get out of here. I don’t want to stay where I an not wanted. It’s gonna take both time and money. I hate to have to do it, but I want to get back the money I spent on supplies etc. I am still going thru my receipts, but the first yr alone is around $900.  The way she keeps saying I never paid rent, I think they should have to pay me for ALL the hours I work, as well as the special(oversided) project I did, that saved them Thousands of dollars each. Then I can hand her the rent she wants and still have plenty of money to do everything needed and get off the property.

It’s time for me to finally take care of me. Oh yeah, I did have my surgery. Though now it needs redone, only now…they say I am gonna have to have a colostomy bag. The Dr isn’t sure if it would be temporary or permanent until he sees the damage that has happened fromm all the work, etc. Where I live.

I Am Asking For Payment Of My Property Taxes, ASAP

I am a 70 year old divorcee in desperate need of my family’s home property taxes being paid or I am out on the street, literally. I am now living in the home I grew up in and it brings me beautiful memories. After my mother’s death several years ago, the home was left to my sister and I. We were both married and I took care of the home, as we all lived in the same city. She eventually wanted to take over things so, of course, I consented. She is seven years older. Eviction Prevention

Hello!

I am experiencing hardship currently and trying to get back on track.   I was the caregiver of my mother, but now she has been placed in a nursing facility because of her health issues.

When she was placed in the nursing facility, she did not have Her Medicaid approved at that time and it caused a balance of $3700 which the nursing facility is requesting the payment back.  Trying to assist my mother placed me in a deeper situation.

I am facing an eviction proceeding which has a court date on 11/14/2024.  I was advised I will have 10 days after the courting date to appeal which will give me more time to find some help in paying the $3900 that includes the court fees.

Mortgage Help fired after surgery

I never imagined that at 60, I’d be looking for another job. My name is Kay and I’ve had many jobs over the years. I poured my heart and soul into my last assistant manager position because it was what I had been doing as a manager for 14 years before I moved across the country. I learned a lot from facility manager. I believed my dedication and years of experience were appreciated. I was the assistant manager and filled in for the manager on her days off so that meant that my hours were slightly less than fulltime. I also filled in at other facilities in the chain and worked at a new facility until a permanent manager was hired.

After working there for nearly two years I started experiencing abdominal pains. When they persisted I made an appointment with my doctor. She referred me to a specialist and was sent for a scan. The specialist told me that I had a large cyst on one ovary. She was fairly sure was benign but that it needed to be removed since that was the source of my pain. She said that since I was 60 it was a very good idea to do a total hysterectomy. It was a straightforward procedure, with a standard recovery time of six weeks. I was otherwise healthy and expected to bounce back quickly, return to my routines, and carry on with my job as if nothing had changed.

After five weeks of the mandatory six-week medical leave I was feeling quite well. I called to let the manager know that I could return the following week. I was told that I had been replaced and they didn’t need me anymore. The news hit like a ton of bricks. It hurt so badly because I had delayed my surgery for 7 days. It had originally been scheduled for the same time as the manager’s vacation and she expected me to cover her while she was off. She pleaded with me to not leave her without coverage. So I agreed to reschedule the surgery. I figured that if I had been dealing with the pain for more than a month then I could make on more week.

As a 60 year single woman, the news was devastating. That left me struggling to keep my head above water. Unemployment compensation was not an option for me because me overall hours were less than fulltime. My state does not cover part time workers. At my age finding a new job was a daunting challenge. The job market, often unforgiving, seemed even more hostile. Finding a new job felt like an impossible task. I had skills, yes, but employers were looking for younger, faster people.  The fear of rejection and the uncertainty of the future weighed heavily on my mind.

My mortgage is a constant reminder of my financial vulnerability. I decided to try gig work but it’s not enough to get caught up. The thought of losing my home is a terrifying prospect and I don’t even have the money to relocate.

The hardest part has been keeping my dignity intact. There are days when the fear and self-doubt feel overwhelming, when I lie awake wondering how I’ll get through this month, this week, even this day. I’m learning, painfully, that starting over at 60 is a lonely road. But each morning, I remind myself that I’m still here, still standing. It’s a small comfort, but maybe that’s enough for now.

I desperately need a lifeline and a $4000 financial boost would pay two months mortgage to help me get back on my feet. I would like to start my own online business which will give me purpose and meaning with a steady income. Need help Medical expenses to be able to see well enough to work .

My name is Mary Jane. I am 79 old retired mother who is currently caring for my 60-year-old son, Lee. Back in December 2023, he suffered an accident which dramatically changed our lives. He suffered a blow to his head which resulted in a detached retina. He did not have any health insurance where he worked. This injury occurred right before Christmas, which caused us difficulty getting to see an eye doctor. We were sent from the Emergency Dept to a local eye doctor, and then to a facility in St. Augustine. From there we sent to Rinehart Surgery Center in Lake Mary, Florida.
There, on December 27, 2023 his right eye was operated on. Some charges were paid on my credit cards, others on a payment plan. The surgery looked to be successful, and he was allowed to return to work on January 19, 2024. He worked 3 ½ days at the roofing company, when he suddenly lost sight again in his right eye while picking up material at Home Depot.
Returning to his surgeon, it was discovered his retina had detached again.
Surgery was again performed on January 30, 2024 on his right eye. This time using an oil bubble to hold the retina in place (instead of a gas bubble which dissipates on its own). The oil will at a later date have to be surgical removed. It causes blurred vision but successfully keeps the repaired retina in place until it heals.
One of the side effects of this type of problem is the development of cataracts. As predicted, Cataracts have developed in both eyes causing him to become “legally blind.” The formation of the Cataracts also caused the retina to be hard to see through by the surgeon.
Due to his lack of medical insurance, the local hospital demanded $14,000 up front, before he could have the first surgery and another $14,000 two weeks later for his left eye. Financial assistance was refused, even after filling out all the forms. Apparently, cataract surgery is elective. As a result, his cataract surgeries were canceled for June 2024.
From June to October 2024 the cataracts hardened and presented a challenge to the cataract surgeon.
On October 8, 2024, as Hurricane Milton was barreling toward Florida, Lee had surgery on his right eye again by Dr. Root of the Tomoka Eye Associates. This time for the removal of the cataract and lens replacement. He was evaluated on October 29, 2024, found that there was some minor improvement in his right eye, but he was still considered “legally blind”.
Then on November 15, 2024 he was referred back to Florida Retina to take care of the right eye. The Cataract surgeon did not want to mess with the “good” eye until the health and vision of the right eye is determined.
It is expected that Lee will have to have at least two more surgeries.
This experience has been a life changing and dramatic experience for us both. He is the one who is suppose to be taking care of me. He promised his sister to take care of me as she was dying of cancer several years ago.
It is rather comically when we go to the grocery: I in my electric shopping cart pointing out the items on the shelf, while he pushes the regular cart. He loads the bags into the car, and then has to help me into the driver’s seat.
I, at present don’t know exactly how much more money it is going to take to get him back to work. He is frustrated at not being able to work and earn a living. We have run up our credit cards and have reached a dead end in trying to handle these expenses ourselves. Presently there is about $25,000 in debt, with more expected until he can return to work
