Husband and I moved into brothers house 9 yrs ago, he was disabled and a vet. We lent him over $40,000. to renovate the house. Replaced the whole well system, replaced the roof and anything major you can think of, septic pumps, etc… He past away two and a half yrs ago. I paid the mortgage payments for a year and a half to keep out of foreclosure with promise from probate lawyer that we would get back all the money as long as I had the receipts, I do. But when they did title search they found out he had a $999,000. judgement against him. Lawyer told me, we weren’t getting our money back. We are devastated and have to move into low income housing. We got behind on our electric trying to keep up the mortgage, $3000.+ and they now want to charge me a $600.+ deposit before we move the electric. Movers want $1500. – $1,800. to help move our heavy items. We are in our 70s and hate asking for charity. We appreciate any help and hope to be able to pay back as soon as we can.

My family has always been active in our community and supportive of our troops. Currently, my husband is receiving Social Security benefits, and I receive Social Security Disability due to ongoing medical issues.

On April 1st of this year, we invested our life savings of $22,000 into a lease-to-own agreement for a beautiful property in Keystone Heights, Florida. We have always made our payments on time. However, shortly after moving in, we discovered a major issue with the septic system. When we addressed this with the property owners, they refused to honor our contract, stated they are keeping our deposit, and demanded that we pay $355,000 by July 15th. If we cannot raise these funds, we face eviction and homelessness.

Our dream for this property is to operate a bed and breakfast in the second house on the lot. It features a greenhouse, a pool, and space for hens, making it an ideal spot for visitors, including families visiting nearby universities or tourists traveling for the upcoming FIFA World Cup. We are eager to put in the hard work to renovate the space and share our hospitality with others, but we are now just days away from losing everything.

Hello, my name is Ruhi. I work as a live-in travel nurse, so I live with my patients 24/7.

I have been unemployed for the past three months because my most recent assignment was extremely difficult. The patient I cared for was very aggressive, stubborn, racist, and simply not a pleasant person to be around.

He believed that anything in the refrigerator belonged to him. Even after I repeatedly explained that the food that he threw away  was min. His family was aware of this behavior but never did anything to stop it.

He would also put his hands on me whenever he became upset, which was almost every day. He frequently opened my bedroom door without knocking, even when I was changing or not fully dressed. I asked him many times to knock before entering, but he ignored my requests.

The last incident was the last straw . I woke up on the morning of Eid, one of the most important holidays in Islam, similar in significance to Christmas for Christians. The night before, I had ordered a special meal from a restaurant to celebrate. When I woke up, I discovered that all of my food was gone. I asked him where it was, and he told me that he had thrown everything away.

I was heartbroken and asked him why he did it. Instead of answering, he stood up, yelled, “Leave! Leave!” and shoved me so hard that I hit the back of my head against the wall. He is about 6’2″, while I am only 5’6″, so I was completely shocked and frightened.

I immediately informed his family, but they did not seem surprised by what had happened. Even then, they still took no action.

While packing my belongings to leave, I made another disturbing discovery. My bedroom had a lock on the outside of the door, but not on the inside where I could lock it for my own safety. I checked every other bedroom in the house, and none of them had an outside lock. Mine was the only one. If I had known that before starting the job, I would never have accepted the assignment unless the room had a lock that I could control from the inside.

My agency had no knowledge of his behavior before placing me in that home.

I have worked as a caregiver for more than 10 years, and I truly love caring for seniors. I have always gone above and beyond for my patients. However, this experience has left me with severe anxiety, and I am now afraid to return to live-in healthcare work.

I am considering becoming self-employed because I never want to experience something like this again. Unfortunately, I have been unemployed for three months and need financial assistance to pay my bills, obtain health insurance (which my agency does not provide), and start my own business.

My Name is Donna France — and My Family Is Facing Homelessness My name is Donna France, and I am a single mother of two little boys, ages 3 and 5. I’m reaching out with a heavy heart because my family is in a very difficult and frightening situation. Not long ago, I bought a trailer home from someone I trusted. Unfortunately, I later discovered that I was never properly given the correct legal title for the property. When I began trying to apply for assistance programs to repair my home, I needed the title — but the situation quickly became much more complicated. After locating the VIN number of the trailer and contacting the courthouse, I was told something devastating: the person who sold me the trailer did not legally own it, and the property has multiple liens against it. Because I am not listed as the legal owner, I have been unable to get information about the liens or resolve the issue. Eventually, the seller did provide me with a title — but it does not even match my trailer. Now the Land Is Being Sold Another serious problem is that I only purchased the trailer itself, not the land underneath it. Recently, the person who sold it to me sent someone to look at the land because he plans to sell it. If the land is sold, my children and I could lose the only place we have to live. Taking legal action isn’t an option for me right now because it could lead to us being forced off the land immediately. I am terrified that my children and I may soon have nowhere to go. Our Home Is Also Falling Apart Even if I were able to find land to move the trailer to, there’s another problem — the trailer itself is in very poor condition. Our home currently has: No proper heating No insulation Structural damage that makes moving it extremely difficult During the winter, we rely on portable heaters, but even then the house becomes very cold and uncomfortable for my children. I can provide proof of the liens, messages, and photos showing the condition of the home to anyone who wishes to see them. Why I’m Asking for Help I never imagined having to ask for help like this, but right now I am trying to do everything I can to protect my children. This past year my family kicked me out of my home with no warning and I have been doing everything in my power to try to keep consistent housing for myself and my two furbabies. I work overtime almost every week and I am trying my best to stay a float but I am a bit short for a really nice apartment I would love to get. Also on top of that I also recently lost my car due to an accident so I have no proper transportation to properly move my stuff and my cats. I know it sounds irresponsible to be hoping place to place with my cats. But I love my cats, they are the only family I have now and I don’t know where I would be right now without them. Hello my friends. I have been let go from my job of 24 years.  The company I worked for is under new ownership and the boss felt that change was needed and he terminated several employees.  No pension, 401K, or retirement fund.  I lost my healrh insurance coverage and my life insurance coverage. I’m no longer and everyday of living is a blessing for us all, especially for those of us that are over 50 years now.  I’ve recently applied for unemployment and was qualified. Soon after I was disqualified before receiving a single payment due to the new stipulation added in which we are required to turn in 2 job hunts per week before receiving any benefits. I have been trying to find work but for someone of my age and health issues, it’s no longer easy. I have an astigmatism, vertigo and now lower back issues.  I do not have a license nor a car. I coworker gave me a ride to work and home during my time at the job. That’s gone now. My money has all but dried up due to living from pay check to pay check. I only have enough funds left to cover the next months rent.  No money for food, lights or my phone. I am really feeling down and out because I am just about out of options. I do not want to be put out of my home if I cannot find work.  I have been looking online for remote work but i am not qualified for most jobs. I have also put in applications around town which I have been told that I may be over qualified. I refuse to give up.
