Just as the title has stated, I need help paying off my student loans. I am a 25 year old woman who has accumulated hefty student loan debt. I went into schooling to learn about medicine since that was my dream career at the time.

But, during my schooling, I got a call from a family member stating that my friend, whom I knew since preschool, took her own life. Since finding that out, I went into a deep depression, blaming myself for not being there for her or what I could have done differently. I am currently on medication for it, but I neglected my studies and foolishly dropped out.

I hope this request finds you in good health and spirits. i am writing to you all today to share my story and asking for your support if this very difficult time in my life. I am facing a lot of obstacles in my pursuit of having my American dream. I am DACA recipient(Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals)where it has giving me the opportunity to live and work in the United States, the only home I have ever known. This program has allowed me to pursue my education and and contribute to society in many meaningful ways.

One of the most significant challenges I have faced as a DACA recipient is the financial burden of higher education, because DACA recipients are not eligible for federal financial aid and some scholarships. I have had to rely on private loans with high interest rates, in addition  to being considered out-of-state has significantly increased my tuition costs. To give a clear picture, out-of-state tuition is often two or three times higher than in-state tuition. I have been working two to three jobs and receiving some private loans, I have found it nearly impossible to keep up with the debt and stress that there financial obligations have been putting on me. From my impacts in my academic performance and my overall well-being.

Adding to my difficulties, I recently lost one of my pillars in my life, my grandfather was the only father figure I had known all my life. He was a pillar of my strength and supported our whole family with his loving ways. He guided me and helped me navigate the challenges of being a DACA recipient  and motivated me to pursue my dreams despite the obstacles. Losing him has been a devastating blow.

In light of these challenges, I am reaching out to you for help. With your help, no matter how big or small, would help me reduce my student loans and help my grandfather lay in peace…Thank yo for taking your time to read my story and for considering my request.

I am a student with lupus. I moved to the US eight years ago and English is my second language.  I worked a lot of jobs because of my health condition, it was hard to deal with the labor jobs. I decided to go back to school and graduate but I haven’t found a job yet. I also got in a car accident in June and lost my car. Right now, I have a student loan and a credit card debt and lost my Medicare and a lot of bills related to the car accident and bills from my regular checkups for my health condition. I was a hard-working woman but right now I am demotivated about the things I am going through. I lost my confidence and was afraid to get back on track. I just decided to do this by thinking that if I get some of my bills covered, I will find a job and figure out what I will do shortly.  My health is unpredictable, I deal with it every day. I never thought I would ever find myself in a situation where I am asking people for money.. but I decided to look at this in an objective way and see the positive and not just focus on the negative aspect of this. I am currently a mother of two children, working full time as a substitute teacher and happily married. I just finished my masters degree, but planning to go back to school to work on my teaching credentials. I am hesistant though because I have over 150,000 dollars in student debt.  I have always wanted to know what it feels to be financially free and not worry about money. I have worked very hard to get to where I am academically and career wise, but I feel like it doesn’t really show financially. As you can imagine, teachers don’t make that much money, substitute teachers make less. I don’t work during summer months and don’t get paid at all. I have numerous bills that are past due and some I even let them go to collections because unfortunately I am unable to pay for them.  This has really hurt my credit. I have always found it necessary as a parent to accept all the loan award that I was offered by financial aid. Unfortunately, this has led me to owe over $180,000 dollars in student debt to be exact. That doesn’t even count the extra two years that I will owe once I am done with my teaching credentials. I come from a low income family and my parents were not in a great financial situation to be able to help me pay for my education. Everything that I have achieved has been through my own efforts and perservearance in order to give my children a better future.

My husband doesn’t make that much money either. I try my best to support him with the bills, but during summer it’s so hard and if anything I just make more expenses out of his account. He is unable to help me pay for my student loans at this time. Due to money issues, we haven’t been able to move out of our 1 bedroom apartment. I haven’t been able to take my kids on a well deserved vacation. I dream of the day where I can live peacefully and not worry about money problems. I started my own youtube side business recently doing videos that are related to intuitive spiritually.. but lets be real.. it will probably be a while until I see any kind of money coming from that if any at all. I really hope that someone on here can help in any way.. I have tried my best to minimize costs and unecessary expenses, but it’s hard to do that when you have children. During summer months, kids want little treats here and there.. and expenses do go up a little more since they are home more. This also includes, electricity bills, more grocery expenses, more gas bills in order to drive them to swim class or other extracurricular activities to keep them busy. I am humbly asking for any support… All of this financial stress is making me feel hopeless and thinking that we wont ever get to have that white picket fence dream.  I don’t think we should be worrying about money problems. My husband and I area very hard working people, we are kind, help people when they need help. Now I feel like we are the ones that need the help. There is so much I want to do but don’t have the means to take the necessary steps. I just feel like it’s always one thing after another. When I do work during regular school year, I can’t even save any money because I am too busy trying to catch up on paying outstanding dues. I am a mental health counselor and single mother of 3. I need help with my student loans and funds to support my children in sports. I am trying to raise 60k so that I can out 50k on student loans and have 10k to be able to support me and my children until I find a better job.  I love what I do and the people I help but the money is not good.
