Dear friends and community members,
I hope this request finds you in good health and spirits. i am writing to you all today to share my story and asking for your support if this very difficult time in my life. I am facing a lot of obstacles in my pursuit of having my American dream. I am DACA recipient(Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals)where it has giving me the opportunity to live and work in the United States, the only home I have ever known. This program has allowed me to pursue my education and and contribute to society in many meaningful ways.
One of the most significant challenges I have faced as a DACA recipient is the financial burden of higher education, because DACA recipients are not eligible for federal financial aid and some scholarships. I have had to rely on private loans with high interest rates, in addition to being considered out-of-state has significantly increased my tuition costs. To give a clear picture, out-of-state tuition is often two or three times higher than in-state tuition. I have been working two to three jobs and receiving some private loans, I have found it nearly impossible to keep up with the debt and stress that there financial obligations have been putting on me. From my impacts in my academic performance and my overall well-being.
Adding to my difficulties, I recently lost one of my pillars in my life, my grandfather was the only father figure I had known all my life. He was a pillar of my strength and supported our whole family with his loving ways. He guided me and helped me navigate the challenges of being a DACA recipient and motivated me to pursue my dreams despite the obstacles. Losing him has been a devastating blow.
In light of these challenges, I am reaching out to you for help. With your help, no matter how big or small, would help me reduce my student loans and help my grandfather lay in peace…Thank yo for taking your time to read my story and for considering my request.
