Hello, my name is Michael and I’m a seasoned fine artist and graphic designer focused on the community in Boulder, CO. I’m currently homelessness because of the bureaucracy between getting a new place and not living at the old space of 10 years anymore and urgently need your help to secure a new place to live. I was not evicted and have no criminal record no family and can’t drive because I am functionally blind.

I’m reaching out with a campaign called ‘Homeless doesn’t mean Hopeless’ for awareness of poverty and to raise funds for a $1,700 deposit for an apartment that’s being held for me. I’m in a critical situation and need to secure this deposit as soon in the next few days.

I have accomplished great things in life so far, but remain humble and am once again in a fight for my life. This new space would allow me to continue my journey of one day giving back to humanity in the most creative and sincere way. From doing pro-bono graphics for small and humanitarian businesses, to full event productions including the latest technologies. One of the first things I did when overcoming these Chaka goes before, was to design the official first ‘BOHO’ (Boulder Outreach for Homeless Overflow) logo for free, that was churches opening their doors to those turned away from the shelter on below zero nights so they wouldn’t literally freeze to death.

Being homeless strips you of a lot of things, but leaves you with the truest sense of what life means to you and what you really want to do in it. I have had this goal sense I was a teen, and now in my 50s, it seems closer than ever. Just getting over this one last hump is crucial.

My wife was contract labor working at Bank of America. They recently eliminated or did not renew most (or all?) of their contract labor in the Dallas area. She was laid off and that has put us into a bad situation. We can make other arrangements but with all the challenges of the past few years (such as myself having 2 heart valves replaced+more) we have exhausted our savings. We just need some short term help to pay bills and to prevent us from becoming homeless. Rent is the biggie but other bills have to be paid in order for us to be able to see blue sky, such as internet, electric and cell.

I am a single mother of two wonderful boys, and I am writing in hope that I can be helped to pay backed up rent money that I owe (total is $20,000 but half of this can help since I will apply to One Shot Deal, government aid, but they will only cover a portion).  Any help would be greatly appreciated because this will put me back on track.  I got backed up with my rent due to challenges I had to face during covid-19, and after. My and my boys had to face a few bumps around the road, like bed bugs, and having to buy new furniture for the bedrooms, and having to pay a private exterminator, along with my bathroom ceiling collapsing and me having to pay someone to come and fix it. I live in public housing, and they take a long time to fix things.  All this accumulates.  I also pay a sitter to help me with my son. So many expenses and not enough pay.  Also, after covid-19 both my aunt and her son Gaby (my cousin) passed away within two weeks’ time of each other. I contributed to their funeral, and this also put a hole in my pocket.  This all took a toll on me and my family.  My father also passed away in 2014 and it took me almost ten years to pay back a debt owed to three people who helped me cover funeral expenses and other financial matters related to this. I hate having to ask for help, but I have no other choice at the moment. I had rent money saved up, but had my car break down last week and needed to use my rent money to pay for the car repairs. Hi my name is Kimberly, I am humble enough to ask for help from strangers to help me with a down payment, first and last months rent for an apartment for me and my 3 year old Allie. A few years ago I found myself in jail facing serious charges on a first degree felony charge. I was looking at 25 to life and worst of all my daughter had to be in the care of my sister while I was in jail facing charges. I suffered from schizophrenia and post pardom depression and tried to end my life while my baby was 4 months old. But God walked me through almost a year in jail waiting for trial and also brought me and my daughter back together when she was 16 months of age. Me and my daughter are currently living with my parents and I was able to receive my TWIC card and find a decent paying job at one of the industrial plants here in Texas. Before my mental breakdown I’ve always had my own and never had to ask for help unless I really needed it. I need help getting a place for me and Allie so that we both can be comfortable in our on home and with me raising her. I applied to Social Security to get my SSI reinstated and due to a 3 month overpayment, it is being delayed for 3 months, and the first check is 30 days later.I am fortunate enough to have a friend let me stay on their couch, but it was supposed to be for a month or so. My ex, the father of my 2 kids is a police detective for our city and was  abusive. I moved out a month & a half ago and since then, the amount I put down for the security deposit has caused me to get behind on my other bills. My ex refuses to give me any financial help, even though our kids are on my health insurance too. He is very adamant that I make enough money and he shouldn’t have to give me a dime, even though he makes about $40,000 a year More than I make. Also his expenses are less than mine, his mortgage is half of my rent. His house is in a worse neighborhood than my apartment and rent prices are outrageous unless I go live in a bad neighborhood. I tried applying for cheaper apartments but couldn’t get approved because my ex refused to be a landlord reference. The only reason I got into this apartment is because I had a coworker lie and pretend to be my landlord for a reference.

If I can somehow get the funds that I paid for my security deposit, I will be caught up and worry free being able to focus on my kids without added stress.
