im not exactly sure where to begin so I guess I’ll start where all the trouble began.
My father was nothing less than that of a hero. In fact that term doesn’t do justice to the man he was not just to me but to others. But a few years ago I found myself more lost than I ever imagined I could be when he passed away to cancer.  This man was my rock, my everything, not just to me but our family and especially my daughter. I was working a good job and they understood when I took time off or wasn’t quite around mentally after my fathers death. And with me missing work I was beginning to miss out on money but my dad planned for such and left my brother and I a significant amount of money. I purchased the home I lived in with him when I moved in to help him and bought a new car. What I didn’t plan for was all the extra bills and the ppl that came along with money. And everyone had some stuff they were going through and at the time I had it so I didn’t mind helping here and there and really I was paying them to work for me but very lil work got done. Eventually I lost my job bc I couldn’t focus but I got another one pretty soon after.  Well money started to disappear as did the people so I had some roommates move in to help and they had no vehicle so I tried to help out when I wasn’t working. I had allowed them to go down the road one day without me and hours later I find out they’re broke down. So I get a ride and we get to car home and replace everything that should’ve been wrong with it but here I sit without any transportation a year and a half later. I don’t have the money to fix it now bc the inheritance was depleted and I had lost this job due to unreliable transportation. Needless to say one thing after another has slowly began to fall apart. I had to ask the roommates to leave bc they wouldn’t pay their rent or help with the vehicle and in fact won some money and bought their own but refused to take me to work or anywhere else. And fast forward to now, I have paid off my home but I still owe taxes and I owe quite a large sum and will lose mine and my fathers home if I don’t pay them up to date soon. I haven’t been able to work bc I can’t get there and can’t work from home bc I can’t afford the appropriate internet speed required to work from home. I’m depending on food pantries that deliver right now for food and I feel like a prisoner in my own home bc I can’t seem to catch a break and get out or do anything for myself. I feel like I’m at a lose lose with myself. If I could save my home and put my car in a shop to have repairs made I could start all over but I need help to get there. If you are able to help with just a few dollars I would be more than grateful and could start on my new journey to make my father proud and bring my daughter back home where I can take care of her. And together we can continue the life my father intended for us.

I  am single  mother of 4  and 3 grandkids 9years  7 yrs  5yrs  am a professional  in IT previously  was a nurse before  covid hit and due to asthma  complications  couldn’t  work in hospitals. I did IT certifications and got IT job and worked  from home and able to multi task and care for the kids and my elderly  parents. I have been  okay  paying my bills and mortgage  saving for rainy  day and even started I small business for delivery  with a box truck. Have 2 kids in college  and  my older daughter  was in university    for her Bachelor’s  and we shared our home and all the bills lived  like one big family. Everything  changed  and did a 360 last year 9 months 3 days ago when my daughter  slept and didn’t  wake up. She was 36 years old  no history  of any illness.  I lost my niece  as well  12 months ago  at 33 from diabetic  kitoacidosis  hence the 2 grandson 5 years She has never been  sick a day in her life apart from her kids delivery.  My daughter was engaged  to marry but the father of the kids was abusive she moved back home with the kids 6 years ago. She went for therapy  and back to school  and actually  graduated  with her Bachelor’s 2 days before  she passed.  I received  her commencement  information  after she had died. I was lost and took off from work  to take care of her funeral  for 3 weeks.  After her funeral  I let my job am going back on Wednesday  and the manager  calls me that my contract  had ended project terminated.  I had to seek therapy  for myself  and my grandkids because  this was a shock to the whole  family.  We finally been managing  from the savings I had for  6 months  emergency  and the side business  for box truck. Unfortunately  the truck  developed  an engine  problem need an overhaul  for 13 500 and my mortgage  is behind 2 months 7400.00. I have Been applying  for jobs over 100 jobs a day no luck. Am back to school  for a GRC certification  which is 12500 cost I  have paid 2000. The program  has a guaranteed  job placement. But now with the box truck broken and all savings finished  it is impossible  to get back to my feet.  Am a very hardworking  single  parent  but it is one of those things  no thing is working. Am a Christian  and I believe  in God  and am begging  for help to get back on my feet. I won’t want to loose  my home I worked so hard to get my children  this home after their dad left. Am so desperate  and defeated my blood pressure  is off the roof. My goal is  fix the truck to start generating  income again, pay my mortgage  arrears  and possibly  continue  with the GRC program  which is very hard to get in out of 350 people one 25 passed the exam  to get in. At 53 years of age I give all in everything  I put my mind on. I have a pmp project manager certification  and scrum master certification and now getting  the GRC  cybersecurity  program  will put you in a position  to get a very good  job. I would  like to be able to accomplish  that and pay it forward  🙏 as well to someone  in need.  Am requesting  for any good Samaritan  to please  help me in  any way God touches you. Hi, my name is Catherine, I live in Virginia. I am writing to ask you generous hearts for some time-sensitive financial support please. I have been on the giving side of generosity myself in the past, and never thought I would find myself on this side of the donations. 

The mortgage servicer is being very aggressive in threatening to initiate foreclosure. I called to make a payment and they refused, because it was only for one month! They’ve sent a Demand Letter, they want at least two months ASAP. On July 1st, I will be short a total of 4 months of payments. The mortgage servicer could put my home up for auction because of less than $8000.

Please help keep me in my home. My home is also my place of work. I am a health coach who offers various wellness and nutrition programs from, or at, my home office. It is my only source of income. 

 

Background that led me here: 

A series of traumatic life events left me in shock, alone, and with a diagnosis of PTSD and emotional trauma starting in 2016. In 2018 things got much harder, when my husband of more than 12 years, had to surrender to a federal correctional facility. I went into depression on top of PTSD, and had to deal with many unknowns of being separated, having to clean up the legal and financial mess that my husband had left me with. You can imagine how this negatively affected my self esteem, social standing, finances & credit score, while I was struggling to regain my health and keep my head above water.

So I found myself on my own, with no spouse, no support. Thankfully I managed to save my house from foreclosure once by re-financing. As part of the PTSD issue, I developed visual processing issues, as well as a hand tremor, and I have severe allergies to chemicals, so unfortunately, I cannot work in my original profession (dental field). 

In 2020, I was on my way out of the slump, when COVID hit and I lost many of my potential clients, and existing clients. With lockdowns, all the momentum I had built for my business came to a stop. I have been trying to rebuild from scratch since everything opened up. Unfortunately being a solo business person who does everything without the necessary funds or a team to do any marketing, means a slow growth. I am gaining momentum, but it’ll take a few months of effort to get to a regular flow of incoming clients (and if I don’t have a home, my work gets affected too).

 

Currently, refinancing the house loan, selling, or renting are not options. This is why: 

Refinancing is not an option because of the hit on my credit score following the problems mentioned in above paragraphs.  I don’t have the credit score or financial ability to ask for another refinance, especially since the interest rates are higher now than on my already re-financed loan. The mortgage servicer is very aggressive in initiating foreclosure because the loan was already re-financed in 2018.

I have considered selling the house, but realtors want to do repairs which I cannot afford. Plus, these days, renting a place half the size, plus paying rent for an office space and storage, would cost more than triple my mortgage payments. That is if I even find a place to rent, as rentals are very rare and expensive in my area, and they all ask for high credit scores and proof of high employment salary. 

For my coaching work, I need to stay close to my area since this is where people know me and refer me clients. My car is too old to drive out long distances every day, and due to my visual issues, I cannot drive very far. I am continuing to reach out through educational talks and special offers of health coaching programs to build more income. 

I am looking for regular hourly jobs too. Most say I am considered “over-qualified” for regular entry level jobs, I am disabled from my actual profession because of the PTSD and visual and hand issues, (but I have no disability benefits because I am self-employed).

So, At this point, I am hopeful and grateful to receive enough financial donation to avoid foreclosure, bring the house payments up to date, so that I can continue to work from home and generate income through my wellness services and get back on my feet.
