A Sister’s Love, A Mother’s Struggle: Help Me Break Free from This Debt of Grief

My Story

I never imagined that the happiest and saddest moments of my life would collide so painfully. While I was on maternity leave, welcoming a new life into the world, I was also fighting to save another my only sibling, my brother. He was my lifelong companion, my closest family, and he was battling kidney failure.

With a reduced income due to maternity leave, I did everything in my power to keep him alive. The hospital bills kept rising, and I couldn’t bear to let him suffer. I borrowed £15,000, believing with all my heart that he would make it ,that we would find a way out together. But life had other plans. I lost him. And with that loss came a financial burden that still haunts me.

Now, as a mother of four, every month when I make an installment payment toward this debt, I relive the heartbreak. The grief is still fresh, the weight of his absence crushing, and the financial strain overwhelming. It’s a constant reminder of the battle we fought and lost.

I am not asking for luxury or comfort just a chance to be free from this debt that ties me to my deepest sorrow. Your kindness can help me close this painful chapter and focus on being the best mother I can be to my children.

Every donation, no matter how small, brings me closer to healing. Please, if this story touches your heart, help me find relief from this financial burden. Thank you for your compassion and generosity.

Unfortunately need help with medical bills, life’s expenses now

https://paypal.me/abpabp1?country.x=US&locale.x=en_US

I am a former 34 year healthcare professional as a Physical Therapist and a Prosthetist working with all varieties of patients, specifically adult aged patients. I spent years working primarily in outpatient settings; the last 7 years of my career were spent as an independent contractor Physical Therapist in the LOS ANGELES COUNTY JAIL and in 2 CALIFORNIA STATE PRISONS; my most favorite work during my entire career.
I no longer am able to work due to major health problems which started in 2019 with kidney problems, COVID 19 hospitalizations and continue infections including spinal vertebrae infections. I have had a significant surgical procedure to my urological anatomy to help keep me alive which has the counter effect of allowing constant infections.
I AM NOW ON SOCIAL SECURITY DISABILITY as my only source of income.
At my highpoint of career, I was making an annual income of $120,000 per year as an independent contractor, which means, I had to pay taxes independently out of this amount as well as pay independently for health insurance. Unfortunately, I spent all savings and credit card value to live on for 4 years as well as using these same funds for paying for a lawyer in efforts of trying to win a medical malpractice case against a physician whose treatment of me in 2019 led to my past years of health problems, surgical procedures, and current health condition. The hope for the medical malpractice was ruined as I did not win. I also must mention that I have had Type 1 Diabetes, insulin dependent, for the past 35 years as well.
Unfortunately as well, I have been diagnosed with depression and have had counselling for suicidal intentions.

My current health, stress from the past 5 years, and my loss of professional health care work that made my life important has led to this humbling situation to ask for help. Simply needing help with medical and living expenses.

I mention my highest earned income simply to show I am only asking for a one time helping amount for roughly 30% of my highest pay.

Urgent needs- Dementia care, home and pet – Reaching Out in a Time of Need

Hello, compassionate community,

Life has brought me to a point where I must humbly ask for help, something I never imagined I’d do. Over the past few years, I’ve faced mounting challenges that have left me struggling to keep up. Today, I’m reaching out in the hope of finding support during this incredibly difficult period.

Here are the immediate needs I’m trying to address:

  1. Veterinary Expenses: My dog, Angus (named for the iconic Angus Young from AC/DC), suffered an injury during a grooming session, leading to a $1,200 vet bill. The groomer has refused to cover the costs, and I’m left to shoulder this unexpected expense.
  2. Tree Removal: A precarious tree is hanging over my home, posing a serious safety risk. Unfortunately, my homeowner’s insurance won’t cover the $1,475 needed to remove it.
  3. Day-to-Day Basics: Grocery costs have skyrocketed, and I’ve been surviving on bone broth, occasional eggs, and powdered shakes. While I’m trying to make it work, it’s become unsustainable and deeply challenging.
  4. Mortgage Payments: I’ve fallen behind on my mortgage and urgently need $1,200 to avoid further complications.

Above all, my greatest struggle has been caring for my mother, who is in the advanced stages of dementia. Her care is emotionally draining and financially devastating. The cost of her care is $7,000 a month—an overwhelming sum my sister and I can no longer manage. Despite our best efforts, we do not qualify for government or state assistance.

I am humbly asking for $10,875 to ease these financial pressures:

  • $7,000 to fund one month of my mom’s care.
  • $3,875 for my immediate emergencies: Angus’s vet bill, tree removal, groceries, and my mortgage.

Any assistance, no matter how small, would mean the world to us. Even if you cannot contribute, simply sharing this post could make a significant difference.

I also want to promise something in return: I am committed to paying forward any blessings I receive. Whether through volunteering, helping elderly neighbors, or giving back in other ways, I will carry forward the kindness and generosity shown to me in this time of need.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for any help you can offer.

With heartfelt gratitude, Anastasia

Medical Bills

Hello I am asking money for my mother’s medical bills. Last year my mother’s health took a significant turn. At the end of June 2024, my mother had a heart attack. Due to her heart attack she had to have immediate heart surgery, which was a triple heart bypass. While she was in surgery, her doctor discovered that she has a hole in her heart. Because he is a heart surgeon, he works on the outside of the heart, and could not close the hole. That calls for another procedure after her heart surgery. A few months later, in September she had another procedure to close the hole in her heart. The device used to closed her heart is called amplatzer septal occluder. Shortly after the procedure, that’s when she was told that she has stage 3 kidney failure.

My mother will be 77 years old in April. She isn’t able to work anymore due to her heart condition. I have been taking care of my mom since she came home from rehab on July 28, 2024. She has been doing cardiac rehab from Nov.24 – March 1,2025. I work and my income barely pays the bills in the house and food on the table. Her hospital balance is close to $3,000 that she owes. The first bill came in Sept. 2024 for $1,475. The second bill came in Dec.2024 for $1,510.  She needs me to assist her with her everyday living. I give her baths, cook her meals, take her to and from her doctor appointments. She walks with a cane and needs assistance when she is out and about. I try and get her out the house a few times a month so she won’t get bored or feel trapped in the house. I will take to the store to get some groceries that she needs because her diet has changed since her surgery. And if the weather is nice I will take her to the park and we will walk a little bit. My mother is my best friend. I do everything and anything for her. It’s just the two us. She also owes the rehab which is $450.00. I hope to get help before the hospital tries to sue my mother for money that she doesn’t have. She has already received a few letters from a debt collector about her bills. My mother and I truly appreciate any and all donations.

Medical expenses

Good day,  My mother-in-law Mary Rolle has stage four cancer throughout her body. She is eighty years old and has beaten cancer two years ago. There are challenges with paying for various tests,  treatments  medicine.  Most of her family are willing, but aren’t very secured financially. Therefore we are in need of about twenty-five thousand  dollars $25000 in order to pay for her medical expenses and keep her comfortable during this period of kimo treatments.  She had been a self employed person most of her life.  She has no medical insurance. The government offers limited assistance, with no personal or emotional care. We are residents of The Bahamas.

Struggling But Hopeful

Hello Everyone,

I never thought I’d be in a position where I had to ask for help like this, but life has become overwhelming, and I don’t know where else to turn. I’m 25 years old, fighting every day to stay afloat while struggling with several things like manic depression and PTSD.. My past has been filled with trauma, and I’ve never really had people I could rely on. Despite everything, I’ve always tried to push forward and build a better future for myself.

Two years ago, I made the difficult decision to leave my home country because the environment there was making me even sicker. I hoped that moving away would give me the chance to heal and start fresh. For a while, things seemed to be improving, but recently, everything has taken a downward spiral.

I’ve been seeing a therapist for years, and therapy has been one of the few things keeping me stable. But with prices going up, it’s becoming harder and harder to afford. On top of that, my medication—which I depend on—was suddenly out of reach. Due to my move, I lost my insurance without realizing it, and I was left with no access to my meds for two months. When I finally managed to get them again, I had to pay full price, and my savings took another huge hit.

To make things worse, a natural disaster destroyed the place I worked. The business was flooded, and I lost my job overnight. Since then, I’ve been struggling to find work. My mental health makes it incredibly difficult to focus, and I feel stuck in a cycle where I need stability to heal, but I need to heal to find stability.

Even with everything going on, I still try to support my mom, brother, and grandmother financially, because they rely on me. On top of that, I also have my sweet Spitz dog, who I rescued 8 years ago. He has severe allergies and an autoimmune disease that is slowly making him blind. He needs special food and care, and I’m doing my best to give him a comfortable life despite everything.

But now, I’ve reached my absolute breaking point—I’m at the end of my savings, and I don’t know how I’m going to manage.

If you’re in a position to help, even the smallest contribution would mean the world to me. I don’t take this lightly, and I wouldn’t ask if I had any other option. I just want to get back to a place where I can rebuild my life and find some stability again—for myself and for my dog.

Thank you so much for reading, and even if you can’t support, I truly appreciate your time and send all my love!

Wishing the best for everyone!❤️

Surgery Needed ASAP

Hello to everyone who reads this. I am a 60 year old single woman that is in desperate need of shoulder surgery. I have a massive tear in my right Rotator Cuff and currently unable to pay for this surgery. I cannot find a Doctor to perform the surgery without a large sum of money upfront. Then, there will be the OutPatient Surgery Center, Anesthesiologist and several months of Physical Therapy. Without the surgery, I am unable to return to work, so this is my dilema. Family and Friends have helped with what they could (which I greatly appreciate) but it is not nearly enough to cover this surgery.

If anyone can donate big or small, I will be forever grateful. My goal is to raise $13,000 to add to what I already have. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.

Cancer treatment funding

Early December last year , our family got news that we were not prepared to hear. Our happy, energetic, brave and loving little girl Beth was diagnosed with a nephroblastoma, she had a tumor on her right kidney, The CT scan showed that it was localised to her kidney. She got 4 weeks of chemotherapy and had surgery early January this year to remove the tumor and the kidney.

The surgery had a complication, the tumor raptured during surgery and , this moved her to stage 3 with a favourable histology.

She has a long road to recovery ahead , she has started radiotherapy and she will be doing 2, 7 day cycles, she will also be getting chemotherapy with hospital admissions for the chemotherapy in some instances. Her treatment plan is up to October.

We are now appealing for financial support so that we can pay medical bills, and treatment costs now to ensure she continues to receive treatment. Your generous donations will ensure Beth continues to receive treatment and fight this disease.

Our girl  is a fighter, she was born preterm due to complications from hyperemesis gravidarum, she overcame all complications and the long NICU hospital stay,  we have faith that she will overcome this

A desperate plea for medical help – My Only Chance to Live

Dear Friends, Well-Wishers, and Kind-Hearted Strangers,

With a heavy heart and tears in my eyes, I am reaching out, praying for a miracle. I am a 35-year-old wife and mother of two young children—a 5-year-old boy and a 3-year-old girl. My life took a heartbreaking turn in 2023 when I was diagnosed with kidney failure. Since then, I have been in and out of the hospital, enduring the pain of dialysis just to stay alive.

I lost my job due to my failing health, and my husband is also unemployed. Every day is a struggle—not just for me but for my innocent children, who do not understand why their mother is always sick, weak, and unable to care for them like she used to. My greatest fear is that they will grow up without me if I do not get the urgent medical help I need.

My doctors have told me that my only chance of survival is a kidney transplant, and I have a compatible donor. But I am faced with another painful reality—I cannot afford the cost of the procedure. The transplant needs to be done in India, but I need $21,000 to cover the surgery, travel expenses, and accommodation. Without this, my condition will only worsen and I may not have much time left.

I am pleading for your support—any amount, big or small, could bring me closer to getting the life-saving treatment I desperately need. Please, help me get a second chance at life, for the sake of my children, my family, and the hope of seeing another tomorrow

If you find it in your heart to assist, please reach out to me at paypal.me/bchiotha . Even if you cannot donate, please share my story so that it may reach someone who can help.

With gratitude and hope

Bertha

Struggling and Would Greatly Appreciate Help

Good evening,

My name is Matthew, I’m a 32 year old social worker and I am absolutely drowning in medical bills and medical collection debt. My debts are reaching astronomical numbers considering where I live, rural Kentucky. I’ve taken out several consolidation loans, I have a lean on my car, I have sold so many things, I have worked 2-3 extra jobs at a time, and took any thing that would get me some money to put on these bills and collections. I recently developed a heart condition and I’ve had to see cardiologists almost weekly to get that checked and I go the first bill today and just broke down in tears. I’m suffering from constant anxiety and depression bouts, nothing is enjoyable anymore because all I do is set and try to find help for the considerable debt that I am in. I am paying on the debts that I can, but in October of this year my student loans are going to go way up again and I’m doing everything I can to keep something in the bank to help pay for that when the time comes. I’ve worked my whole life to try and keep myself afloat and over the last 10 years, I’ve just watched it all fall apart because of ER visits and doctors appointments and emergency needs. I’m stressed, I’m overwhelmed, and I do not know what else to do but pray. I pray to God every night and day that something will change in my life to save me. A raise a work, a random inheritance, a kind stranger, just something that would truly save me. That brings me here, I heard about this website online and I wanted to plea my case to get help. My debts and collections combined are getting closer to 30,000$ every day and I do not know what else to do. Like I said before, I am paying on what I can as I can and when one bill is paid I move onto the next one and start that process. There is just so much backed up on top of me and I am drowning. Please, I would be grateful if anyone would consider helping me at all. Every little bit helps. Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Reverse Shoulder Replacement 2023 and 2 Knee Surgeries in 2024 – Please Help

I’m 63 years old and I have a wife, a young boy and 2 nieces living with us.

I have lived a very blessed life in that I have faced many medical traumas in my life and all I can say is, God must have been with me through it all.

When I was 19 I was injured and was in a coma, they had to tie my down because I kept trying to escape the hospital, but I also kept pulling out my oxygen tubes and that caused me to have scare tissue in my airway and my airway started to collapse in my sleep. I’ve had 3 emergency tracheotomies while I was awake and over 20 throat surgeries.

As I got older I learned that I had Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and I was having 10 non-epileptic convulsions a day for 8 years and Traumatic Brain Injury and I needed medication that took the doctors over 6 years to figure out the right combination of medications to get me stabilized in 2008-2014.

Well, the reason I’m writing this letter for help with medical assistance now it because after the removed the restrictions from corona-virus travel in 2023, my wife and me, my wife’s nephew and our son went out to buy a new SUV.

We also have 2 of my wife’s nieces living with us so they live close to the college so they can get a better job. They also help a lot with cooking and cleaning.

While we were out of town to buy the new SUV, my wife was visiting her sister, I slipped and fractured my arm and separated my shoulder. I ended up having to get a reverse shoulder replacement in March 2023. I started physical therapy in June 2023 when I noticed that my knee was popping around and something wasn’t right.

I saw 1 doctor and he cave me the stuff like what is in the injection to stop the pain, except it was in the pill form and it worked great for about 6 weeks.

I went to the local emergency room the day after Christmas about my knee pain and the doctor ordered and MRI. With it being the holiday season and New Years it took a while but we finally got the results and I had a torn meniscus on the outside of my knee and on the inside of my knee the meniscus was folded over on top of itself.

I made another trip to the Orthopedic Surgeon and I was ready for a knee replacement, but he wanted to try and do a Meniscus Repair surgery first and see if that would work. Ugh, I’ve been through this too many times before.

Ok, 6 months later, my knee still hurts, I think it hurts even worse now and the Orthopedic Surgeon wants me to come into his office. I made my arrangements, packed my bags and I was ready. Either way it’s gonna keep hurting.

When I got to his office he took some x-rays with me standing pigeon toed and he could see clearly that I had bone on bane contact in my left knee,

He asked me, When do you want to have a Knee Replacement Surgery? I said now!

I lost 80 pounds while I was in the hospital and another 20 pounds after I discharged. I got a blood infection and I had about 8 different doctors.

The good news is, I’m still alive, I learned to walk again for the second or third time and I already have the first 2 surgeries paid off.

This Knee Replacement Surgery I put on 2 of my credit-cards and I’m getting charged over 30% interest with a good credit score.

With the cost of living and the endless money printing and can barely afford to support my family and pay for the SUV, which I bought because the car transmission was burned out.

I have not been able to work since 2008 because of my health situations and I wasn’t accepted by Social Security Disability because I was not married with children at the time.

I have reapplied, but they say if you have $2000 in the bank you have too much money. If you make 35,000 a year, you make too much money.

I also applied for early retirement. I don’t know if I’ll get anything.

Here’s what I need.

$11,000 credit-card for my surgery.

$11,000 credit-card for my surgery.

Those 2 credit-cards payments are costing me $800 month minimum payment.

Plus I have another credit-card

$5000 credit card

God bless you all!

Multiple Medical Catastrophes Have Buried Us

I am 34 and have a wife of 12 years and 2 children, one of whom is autistic.

Until my mid-twenties, I was a very healthy, active individual. Basketball, martial arts, running, weight-lifting, and a physically demanding job (which I loved) where I was active outside in all weather conditions all day.

10 years ago, a problem appeared with my immune system and it is generally weak now. I frequently get difficult respiratory illnesses that can have me completely out of commission for 2 weeks at a time. This was manageable by itself as my employer was understanding, but through the next 2 medical difficulties, it has become quite an added burden.

8 years ago, I contracted spinal meningitis. I almost died. Between the hospitalization, long bedrest, and longer overall recovery period, I was out of work for almost a year. (My job fired me because I was out so long.)

When my health returned, I decided to start fixing computers. (We were in a larger city – Nashville TN.) I had always wanted to do that and had trouble finding a job so I put some ads on Craigslist and gave it a shot. It actually went pretty well. I made nearly 30k/year, which was a few thousand more than my previous job.

5 years ago, the big one hit. While on Christmas vacation with family in NY, I suddenly had 3 seizures. The cause of the seizures is still unknown, but they left me with long-term heart and brain complications. I was 100% bedridden for 4 months, wheelchair-bound for 4 more, and then moving slowly on my feet for several more. The symptoms I experienced during that year were quite unbearable. I won’t overdramatize, but between the cardio and neurological difficulties I was experiencing, much of that year could arguably be categorized as torture.

At the end of that year, we moved to a very small town in the midwest where we had family available to help us. Over the last 4 years, the heart and brain difficulties (combined with my immune system problems) have been a roller coaster. Some days, I am totally bedridden. Some days, I feel almost normal. Most days are somewhere in-between. The problem is I am completely unreliable and therefore unemployable. Every day is different and I’d have to call out more than half the week, every week. I have continued to fix computers  and earn around $20k/year doing so. This is not quite enough, even in our cheap living arrangement. Because of medical complications and costs they’ve incurred, many times as a result of missing work, we have found ourselves in $30k debt.

Our monthly bills are $600 and the debt minimum payment is $700. Without the debt, things would be much more manageable, but I simply don’t make enough to get us through the frequent medical hiccups.

As you can imagine, I have exhaustively looked into other things I could do to make money, but most things either require money to start or require reasonably consistent health. Last year, I hatched an idea. I wrote a first-of-its-kind book that will potentially help many women and children find provision in poorer international societies. I worked very hard on it all year. I also wrote a collection of stories alongside it. This is the biggest thing I have ever done as it required a ton of research. The books are now published. Long story short, I would like to get into book publishing. I have already begun working on other things to publish. Book publishing is something I can do from anywhere and even when I’m bedridden, which is often. I have already seen the small beginnings of success, but there is much more work to do. So, I have not been sitting idly, just moping and hoping. I think I really found something I can make a living with.

The problem? I have been so sick this year that I’ve only worked a handful of days. We can’t even pay our $600 of monthly bills, never mind the $700 debt payment.

Here’s what we need – $30k to pay off the debt. $6k to cover the rest of this year’s bills. I will stop doing computer repair and devote the year to making the book publishing happen, which I believe will sustain us from next year forward.

Here’s what I could also use – $4k to help the book publishing endeavor. It costs around $1,300 to publish each book and I have 8 planned. That would help me get started with the 3 best prospects and then they should pull income from there.

My wife, children, and I have spent a lot of our lives dealing with my medical catastrophes and the financial complications that come with them. My wife has stayed with me through it all. She homeschools the girls and does so marvelously. We live in the middle of nowhere with no real work opportunities but as you’ve seen, living here is extremely cheap. After years and years of this, I am finally asking for help. (My doctor recommended disability, which I had never thought of. I applied and fought for it for two years, but they ultimately denied me because my issues are not officially diagnosed.)

I realize that we are not the most desperate case in the world, but we are potentially on the verge of homelessness at our current rate this year, which is something I would likely not survive in my condition. Please also keep in mind our special needs daughter. Anything helps.

Financial Relief for a Family in Crisis After a Car Accident

I am reaching out to explain the urgent need for $30,000 to help my family during an incredibly difficult and challenging time. After a traumatic car accident, I have been struggling with both physical and mental health issues that have deeply affected my ability to function in everyday life. The accident left me with serious injuries, but the psychological aftermath has been far more debilitating. I developed chronic paranoia, which has made it nearly impossible for me to leave my home without experiencing severe panic attacks. The mere thought of stepping outside triggers overwhelming feelings of fear and anxiety, and as a result, I have become increasingly isolated from the world. These panic attacks have become a daily struggle, and I find myself trapped in a cycle of fear that prevents me from engaging in any meaningful activities or even taking care of basic responsibilities.

This situation has created a significant financial burden on my family. Because of my inability to work and leave the house, I have fallen behind on all of my bills, including rent, utilities, and medical expenses. The stress of mounting debt and the constant worry about how we will make ends meet has only worsened my mental health, making it even more difficult for me to recover. My family is struggling to manage on a reduced income, and without any immediate financial relief, we are at risk of losing our home and falling further into debt.

The $30,000 I am requesting would allow us to catch up on overdue bills, including essential utilities and medical treatments, and provide the necessary financial support to focus on my recovery. This amount would help cover the cost of ongoing therapy and psychiatric care that I desperately need to address my chronic paranoia and panic attacks. It would also help me access resources for anxiety management and enable me to take steps toward regaining some independence. With this financial assistance, I would be able to get the help I need to heal mentally and physically, and begin the process of rebuilding my life and restoring stability for my family. Without this support, the long-term impact of my condition will continue to create an insurmountable burden on us.
