Metastatic Breast Cancer Financial Disperity

Hello my name is Kathie Small and I am asking for assistance with medical bills, loans and credit cards.  I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer in October 2020.  I was taking a routine shower when I noticed a lump in my chest.  My heart sank.  The doctor soon discovered that I had stage 4 metastatic breast cancer.

My cancer ride has been a world wind of emotions, situations and eye opening parodies.  Despite having insurance through Medicare  – I have racked up debts including premiums of $1754 and medical expenses of $5600 at my Oncologists office.

I don’t always feel well and miss a lot of work. I have a warrant for debt on a loan that I defaulted on totaling $12,543. I also have another loan for a much lesser amount of $2530.  I have credit cards totaling $3573.00 approximately.

Medical Insurance Premium Help

Hi,

I’m currently unemployed and my biggest monthly expense is my health insurance.  It’s $728/month.  When I’ve checked in the past, I learned that someone with a low income is eligible for financial help, but someone with no income isn’t.

My medical situation is such that I think I should be able to draw disability, but the government probably thinks otherwise.  The main issues I’m being treated for are depression and anxiety.  I think I’ve also seen bipolar disorder written on my medical forms, although I don’t remember my psychiatrist mentioning it to me directly.  I’m on four different medications for my conditions.

If the time that I have to get out of bed each day is flexible, I can usually have a good day.  This sometimes means I’m in bed as late as 1:30 PM.  I kind of have to wait until I feel right before I get up.  If I have to get up earlier at a set time for something like a doctor’s appointment, I tend to have more trouble keeping my anxiety in check on those days.  I also still have a day occasionally where I feel unwell mentally for most of the day and I might have trouble functioning normally.  These are some of the reasons it would be hard for me to hold a regular job.  I’m trying to get some online businesses going, but I haven’t made any money with it yet.

If a billionaire reads this and wants to give me a bunch of money, I won’t turn it down.  But that’s not my goal.  I’m not trying to get rich with my online businesses or by asking for help here.  My goal isn’t even to increase the money in my bank account – I just want to get to a point where I’m breaking even so my balance won’t go down.  I read that there are over 8 billion people on earth, so I hope that a few of them can help.  I figure that if 750 people to give me $12 each, it will more than cover my insurance for a whole year.  So $12 is all I’m asking you for (or even less if you can’t afford that much.)

Drowning in debt and unable to afford life right now

I never thought I’d be doing something like this. Asking people for money. To be clear, I don’t want a handout; I intend to pay back every penny. Please, if someone would be willing to lend me a few thousand dollars, I will happily pay you back when I can. I’m married and we both work full time. My husband is an electrician and I’m a medical assistant. Money has always been tight, but we’d make it paycheck to paycheck. Recently I was diagnosed with relapsing multiple sclerosis, and even with insurance I’m left with thousands of dollars of debt from hospital stays, MRIs, medications, infusions…I’m on payment plans but can no longer afford to make those payments. That on top of student loans, my creditors, auto loans, 401k and hardship loan payments, we no longer earn enough to make ends meet. I’m grateful to still be able to work because I love my job, but I’ve gotten in over my head and we need help. I thought I would try the kindness of strangers as a last resort. I’ve killed my credit score, and we can’t get a loan to consolidate my debt. All I could get were payday loans with impossibly high interest rates and fees. And now I’m afraid of losing our home along with everything else.

In an attempt to not fall behind on mortgage payments I took out a payday loan. Then I had to take out another to try and pay the first one off quickly and keep up with the other bills. I was stupid enough and desperate enough to keep doing this and I’ve dug a hole so deep I can’t escape. Just for payday loans I owe around $2500 every two weeks. That’s deducted from my bank account twice a month, or every time I get paid. I only bring home around $1400 (after taxes, with overtime) per paycheck. I’ve dragged my husband down with me and now we’re both broke with horrible credit and zero options. I realize it’s my own fault for making such poor and impulsive decisions, but I thought if I could work enough hours then I would make up the difference. I underestimated how quickly the interest would pile on the loans, making them significantly more than what I initially borrowed, and just a few months after the fact. I tried to pay off the loans one at a time with lump sum payments, but the lenders only apply a tiny percentage to the actual loan while the majority goes to “fees.” My bank account is currently in the negative at $1500 and I don’t know what to do. Everything is past due, and we have no way to pay. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated, and I promise to pay you back in full. Thank you for reading this to the end.

Need to go Turkey for healthcare

Help I need medical care. I’ve had over 35 surgeries since 2007 for a plethora of things. I also have fibromyalgia, chronic back pain and a in my brain. I’ve gone to so many doctors here in the USA and it seems no one ever really helps me. If they tell me to have surgery, I do it. They said lose weight, I lost 75lbs. I started working out, went vegan and still I’m suffering. I’ve gone for so many scans they come back and say everything looks fine I’ll see you in 6 months. Some doctors constantly write prescriptions for everything under the sun, yet I’m still suffering. I have so many medical bills that I’ll likely never be able to pay them all. So I recently saw something about a specialty hospital in Turkey that will put you thru a battery of test and find the things most doctors don’t find. The battery of testing with the different doctors will cost $1000 and then I need to get there and stay for 6 days so I’m thinking about $3000 should be sufficient. I feel as if this is my last hope because I’m tired of going to the doctor, tests, medications and a lack of real help. AS I type this I’m preparing for a doctors appt about my back because insurance is no longer willing to pay for the injections in my back that basically allow me to walk around without assistance. Without the injections I have no idea what my life will be like but I have an idea from before I had major back surgery in 2009. Of course this is not a sure thing either but I have to try it. Hi, I am wanting help to pay off medical bills current and in credit report, my husband and I are wanting to be able to buy a home, and we have to get them paid off and get our credit cards paid off. Need to get our score up also, and figured paying those off would help boost it tremendously. My husband has been battling stage 4 bladder cancer for the last 4 years, he just recently did chemo/radiation, and currently on immunotherapy.  We are hoping to be able to buy beginning of next year 🙏. Help a Young Person Stop Paralysis for Life

I live on the little South Asian island of Sri Lanka and the medical care here for complex disabilities such as this is abysmal. After a sudden collapse from loss of feeling below my knees, I got Xrays and checked with a doctor. I was told that I have to get treatment overseas as soon as possible as I was facing paralysis within a few months if left untreated. After checking with many scoliosis treatment centers and hospitals I found that the minimum cost treatment is noninvasive treatment for scoliosis which still costs over $5000 , while surgical treatment is unimaginable at 20x more.

As a very simple writer earning just barely enough to cover my living expenses, I’m completely unable to afford this. I hope that any kind souls can please assist with whatever amount you think is appropriate, so that I won’t have to face a dependent, torturous and bedridden life – possibly on the streets if my health gets worse. Or even worse death.

Your assistance would mean the world to me and my poor Mom who only has me. Sadly, she’s having nightmares from worrying about me.

I have now found a qualified chiropractor (Leaside Chiropractic Clinic) in Canada specializing in scoliosis who has agreed to treat me with necessary braces within 1 month. While costs are given at a preferential rate at about half what US scoliosis chiropractors charge, they are still beyond me and I hope kind sould can assist. I’m attaching the cost update sent for treatment which comes up to 15000 CAD or around 11500 USD. Taking into consideration the accommodation, transport and living cost for 1 month in Canada for about USD5,000 (slightly higher than standard as I’m unable to cook or walk for public transport due to my medical condition), and return air ticket USD2,000.
