We were the couple everyone envied. Our wedding is just months away, and our friends and family can’t stop raving about our love. But behind closed doors, reality is unraveling.   At first, it was just a glass of wine after work. Then it became two, sometimes three. I’d brush it off as stress relief, but deep down, I knew it isn’t just that. My name is Wisdom Walamu, and today I’m writing with a heart full of love, fear, and hope. I never thought I’d find myself in this position asking the kindness of strangers to help save the most important person in my life. But here I am, not as a man too proud to beg, but as a husband and a soon-to-be father who is terrified of losing the woman who means everything to him.

My wife, Joy, is expecting our baby boy. What should be the happiest time of our lives has become a time filled with fear and desperation. She needs an urgent Cesarean section (C-section) surgery, and we simply cannot afford it.

We’ve done everything we can. We’ve stretched every dollar, knocked on every door, and tried every possible option. But the truth is we are falling short. And the clock is ticking.

A Love Story Worth Fighting For

Let me tell you a little about her about the woman who changed my life. We met in the most ordinary way, but what blossomed was anything but ordinary. She is kind beyond words, strong beyond belief, and has carried this pregnancy with so much grace despite the challenges. Even when she was in pain, she smiled. Even when she was scared, she reassured me.

From the moment we found out we were going to be parents, she lit up in a way I’d never seen before. She talked to our baby every night. She would place my hand on her belly and say, “Feel him? He’s dancing for us.” Her love for our son is already boundless. I see it in the way she prepares his tiny clothes, in the way she whispers lullabies before he’s even born.

But the last few weeks have been hard. Her doctor told us that due to complications, a natural birth is too risky. A C-section is the only safe option for both her and the baby. Without it, her life and our son’s are in danger.

The Reality We’re Facing

I’m reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for your help. My 5-year-old grandson has epilepsy, and while we are grateful for the medicine that has helped reduce his seizures, it’s now causing serious damage to his liver. We live in Indiana and have Medicade, but the care he truly needs isn’t covered.
