Recently, we received devastating news. Joey developed several masses on his spleen, and after rushing him to the vet, we were told he needed emergency surgery. Waiting wasn’t an option — there was a serious risk of rupture that could have ended his life. We made the difficult but necessary decision to move forward with surgery to give him the best chance.

For years, I’ve opened my home and my heart to animals who had nowhere else to go, donkeys, dogs, cats, other various souls, each one with a story, each one deserving of love and safety. Over time, my little rescue grew into a daily labor of care: feeding, cleaning, vet visits, and giving them the dignity of a loving and secure home.

Recently, I had to make one of the hardest decisions of my life, surrendering six of my rescue donkeys. I simply couldn’t keep up with their feed and care costs, and I wanted to ensure they went to safe pastures, which they have. But I still have two special needs donkeys, several dogs and cats, and birds depending on me every single day. They look to me for food, shelter, love and comfort. I’m determined not to let them down.

Before the pandemic, I worked steadily as a freelancer, making enough to cover the animal’s needs and my own. When the pandemic hit, much of my work disappeared. What I earn now is less than a quarter of what I used to bring in, and despite my efforts to find other income, age and a challenging job market have closed many doors. My spouse has essentially stepped away from work, so the responsibility falls entirely on me.

I’m frugal to a fault, stretching every dollar as far as it will go, but with the rising cost of everything, it’s becoming harder to cover even the basics: pet food, my own groceries, utilities, and the upkeep of an aging vehicle that’s on its last legs. I will sacrifice for these animals without hesitation, but I can’t do it alone anymore.

Hi, my name is Aline, and my loving husband, Semis, and I recently reached a huge milestone—we bought our first home and moved in November 2024. It was a dream we had worked so hard for, but just two days after Christmas, something unexpected happened that changed our lives.

An abandoned dog showed up at our door, barking as if asking for help. When we saw him limping, we knew something was wrong. His back right leg was injured, and despite searching for his owner through our community and social media, no one claimed him.

A few days later, we took him to the animal hospital, hoping for good news. We named him Lucky because, despite his rough start, he had found love and care. But the vet confirmed our worst fear—his femur was broken near his knee, and a cast wouldn’t help. We were given three heartbreaking options:

1️⃣ Surgery to repair his leg ($4,000–$6,000).
2️⃣ Amputation.
3️⃣ Surrendering him to a shelter, where his survival chances were slim due to high euthanasia rates.

Hearing this shattered us. We didn’t have thousands of dollars for surgery, and the thought of amputating his leg—or leaving him behind—was unbearable. My husband, seeing my tears, took my hands and said, “Let’s take him home. We’ll find a way.”

That night, we created a GoFundMe campaign and started reaching out to friends and family for help. In the midst of this, a friend suggested we apply for a Care Credit card, which allows payments for veterinary bills. Since Lucky couldn’t wait much longer, we decided to move forward with the surgery, using the card with the hope that donations would help us pay it off.

– The good news? Lucky got his surgery, and he’s healing at an incredible rate! He’s happier, more playful, and his eyes tell us he’s no longer in pain. Seeing him come back to life has brought us so much joy.

– The challenge? We were only able to raise **$1,200**, leaving us with a remaining balance of $4,107. With the many expenses that come with buying our first home— mortgage, down payment, moving costs, HOA fees—we are now struggling to cover the rest of his surgery bill. After all, finding and helping Lucky was an unexpected commitment, that in our hearts, we needed to do.

I am reaching out to inquire about any financial assistance or monies that might be available to help with a few expenses. If I may, please allow me to briefly explain.

My home is filled with mold and the professionals charge about $3750 to remediate it.  I have sought other professional help to see where the source of moisture is. From each one’s best judgment it is coming from under my kitchen sink. The smell of mold and mildew in my kitchen and bathroom is enough to make anyone ill.  My plumbing system is in such dysfunction that my washing machine backs up and pours puddles of water into my laundry room. I have standing water and potholes around the foundation of my home and I had to have my home treated for termites. Unfortunately, I just don’t have the resources to fix any of these issues at this time.

As a way to help each other, I went to stay with my elderly mom who is battling breast cancer.  She lives on a fixed income which is under the poverty level and she worried about her utility expenses increasing with me being there. During my time at her place, my home continued to deteriorate and increase in mold spores. However, I moved back in to my home to relieve my mom of financial worries. My health has seriously declined since moving back into the home.

Incidentally, my dog got off his leash two days ago and when he came home, he was limping and bleeding. I do not know what happened to him. I took him to the vet and the bill was $402 for an exam, x-rays and medication. Painfully and regretfully, I considered leaving him there because of a $400 bill. How hurtful to be in that place. Between my mom and I we paid it.

Hello, my name is Patricia and  I am putting this out there regarding my Grand dog Ollie.  We have never done this and not sure it will work, but we are desperate. A heartbreaking situation is unfolding for the littermates of my adopted pup. These 11 innocent puppies are suffering from eye infections and have not received the essential deworming or vaccinations they need to survive and thrive.

Hi my name is Andi and I bought my homestead a year and a half ago. I never in a million years thought I would be able to make this life happen for myself it’s a dream come true. I was able to rescue 2 beautiful horses-in my cover photo from Kill pens- and rehabilitated them to health. I have also rescued 2 donkeys as well. I have 5 goats and about 40 chickens. I’ve been so blessed to be here in this beautiful part of Texas. However in the past six months my finances have taken a horrible turn. My income has been cut in half as the economy has hit my sales at work. I have also been sued and have to pay out $25k for a car accident that happened when I switched carriers and had a 1 day lapse in coverage. To add to that I am paying the IRS back monthly for taking money out of my 401k to buy my property. My car insurance rates went up to $1000/mo, Groceries can’t get out under $200, utilities $400 for electric- you get the idea. I know I am no different than anyone else except that I am a single mom with full custody and no financial support from their dad. When I bought my property I had great credit but now that all these things keep piling on I’ve had to stop paying my revolving stuff in order to keep my lights on and the roof over our head. The reason I started a GoFundMe is because now I am in jeopardy of losing my farm. With my credit below 600 I am unable to get approved to refinance my land which is on a 2 year balloon note- due Jan 1st. I need to pay off the note that is $71,000 or I will lose it. I absolutely hate asking anyone for help and this is extremely hard for me to do but I am running out of options. I pray daily that God will make a way so that I don’t lose everything that I’ve worked so hard for and that this beautiful life that I’ve created for myself and my kids doesn’t get flushed down the drain. This post is difficult to write, as I have never asked for financial assistance publicly before now–but it’s worth a shot. My brother and I have been assisting our 83 year-old mother with her monthly expenses over the last seven years. We’re happy to do it but as of late, her trusty Toyota truck finally died after 32 years. Our mother is a retired horse and dog rescue professional and needs her truck to visit her one and only horse “Patrick” and her dog “CJ” at their boarding location which is 9 miles from her apartment.
