Please Help My Family Rebuild After Hurricane Helene

Please Help My Family Rebuild After Hurricane Helene-

Hello, my name is Shanetta Gray, and I am the mother of three beautiful children.

In September 2024, our lives were forever changed when Hurricane Helene tore through our community. Our rental home suffered severe damage (as shown in the photos below), leaving us without a safe place to stay. Since then, my children and I have been living in a hotel shelter, doing everything we can to stay afloat.

Sadly, most assistance programs are either filled to capacity or delayed, and I have already exhausted all of my savings to care for my children. On top of that, I now face outstanding bills totaling around $15,000, which include:

Shelter and living costs while displaced

Past-due household bills

Basic necessities for my children (food, clothing, school supplies)

Costs to secure safe housing again

This has been the most difficult time of my life. As a mother, all I want is to keep my children safe, stable, and hopeful about the future. I am reaching out with a humble heart to ask for your help.

✨ Any donation, no matter the size, will make a difference. Even $10 helps us move closer to stability. If you aren’t able to give, please consider sharing this post so it can reach others who may be able to support it.

Your generosity, compassion, and prayers mean the world to us. Thank you for reading our story and for standing with us as we rebuild our lives after this devastating storm.

With love and gratitude,

Shanetta Gray & Family 💙

I want to improve my life but sometimes we need to ask for help. $eska47

Hello my name is Steph I’m 49 years old I live with my cat Fiona she’s almost 3 years old. I have credit issues but under $3000 and I don’t have a car. If I could fix these two things I could improve my life exponentially. Fiona needs some vet care also. I let my pet insurance lapse because my rent went up over $100 and I have been struggling every month to pay my rent. That $100 was the money I used for Fiona’s insurance and needs. She is my emotional support animal. She is truly my savior, she came at the right time to keep my spirits high. Thank you to all who help others here. I hope your days are bright, and your loved and appreciated.

Struggling to Keep My Daughter Safe and Fed

I am reaching out today because I am truly at one of the most difficult points in my life, and I am hoping for a bit of help to keep my daughter and me afloat. I am a recently divorced father, and I have full custody of my little girl. She is the center of my world, and every decision I make is with her future and her wellbeing in mind.

Back in March, I was in a near-fatal accident that left me unable to work for months. The recovery was long, painful, and financially devastating. Even though I am finally back to working again, the damage from those months without income has pushed me into a position I never imagined I would be in. Sadly, the time I was injured and unable to work became the reason my ex-wife chose to leave after ten years of marriage—ten years in which I consistently paid more than half of every bill and did everything in my power to support our household.

I live very modestly. My daughter has her own small room, and I have mine. There is nothing extravagant or unnecessary in our home. I visit food pantries every single week just to make sure we have enough to eat. I work full-time, I work overtime whenever it’s offered—even though the extra taxes barely leave me anything—and at night I do DoorDash just to try to keep us going. Most nights my daughter sleeps in the back seat while I deliver food, something no parent ever wants to admit or accept. It breaks my heart, but I feel like I’m running out of options.

Even with all of this, I am still falling behind. Every paycheck is spent the moment it arrives, going straight toward overdue bills and basic necessities. I feel like I’m constantly trying to play catch-up, and no matter how hard I push, the finish line keeps moving farther away. I don’t see any light at the end of the tunnel right now, and I am terrified that if something doesn’t change soon, we may lose our apartment. I have no family in this city, and I have already borrowed from every friend I have—friends I have no way to pay back in the foreseeable future.

I want to be clear: I am not asking for money so I can get ahead or live comfortably. I am simply trying to keep my daughter safe, fed, sheltered, and in school without having to see or feel the crushing stress I deal with every day. I am doing everything I can, and it is still not enough.

Anything you can offer would mean more than I can express. Thank you for taking the time to read this, and thank you for any help, support, or kindness you can give.

Single father needs car fixed

I am a single father of three beautiful children. My car broke down on me yesterday and it is quite a substantial amount to get fixed. My car is my lifeline. It gets me to and from work. It gets my children to and from school and after school activities and also gets me to the store to provide food for my children without a car. I feel like my lifeline has been cut and I really need to get the car fixed so I can have my lifeline back together. Without being able to get my car fixed I will not be able to provide for my children and without being able to provide for my children my children will starve and then eventually not have a roof ever they read. So I really need assistance so I can get my lifeline back together. Please and thank you to anybody that has donated or helped out in any way

Please help my 3 sons get what they truly deserve<3

Single father of 3 with 50/50 custody just trying to make it. I recently got 50/50 custody of my 3 sons (twin 9 year olds and my nonverbal autistic 12 year old son. Even though I’m jobless at the moment (other than some side work thank God) without my own personal transportation and their mother receives my oldest sons ssdi check and also receives food stamps for all 3 sons and has a job somehow still got awarded child support from me even having them half the time all month. The judge took my oldest sons check into consideration and decided it should be split between parents roughly 1,000$ total and after doing the difference of what I would owe and half of the 1000 I ended up receiving a total of 81$ while she gets to keep the remaining 900$ something and also food stamp benefits for the while having a job. So therefore her working just a couple days here and there she’s able to make it fine with her other income and food stamps. While I’m trying my best to make ends meet working here and there when I can with side jobs. Because of having a 5-5, 2-2 schedule that the judge decided on making it hard to even find employment that will work with me. Im also having to take all 3 of my sons to and from school which is roughly 55 minutes away even though in the same county there is no bus that runs to their school from where I live. I have to borrow my parents vehicle every day that I have them to do so. I’m not going to sit here and say that I’m deserving of any better because I used to be an addict (now in recovery) and my bond with my sons are stronger than ever. They literally don’t ever want to leave me because their mother got a new boyfriend and literally pawns them off every time that she gets them after being with her for over 13 years and never being away from my boys it is hurting them more than anything and all I can do is just comfort them every time I get them and let them know that I’m not going anywhere! Just like today (thanksgiving) their mother told the judge that she wanted to have the boys half the day even though it was my day so that she could eat dinner at her mother’s. come to find out after she gets my sons she makes them aware that she’s going to her boyfriend’s and they have to go. they call me upset and I of course jump to their side and comfort and confront their mother and tell her that she is ignorant and evil for forcing them to go to that. we’ve only been split up for 4 months after being together for over 13 years she is not taking our sons into any consideration (she is literally doing everything she does for spite to get me upset and make me look more and more like the bad guy. I’m trying to get on my feet and get these boys what they deserve their own home and our own vehicle so that I can try to get full custody because that’s what they want. On the days that their mother picks them up for me they cry and instead of comforting them she gets them in the car and calls them crybabies and says that it’s messed up that they cry about leaving me and never her. She is a Panamanian that grew up without a father and still to this day she still doesn’t know who he is (32) yrs old. And all I can see is her putting that same hurt into them that was put into her growing up and they need out of the situation to save their sanity. So if please anyone could help with anything it would be more than greatly appreciated for me and more so my 3 boys. Please help me get them what they deserve I’ve never done nothing like this and it still makes me feel like a failure asking for help and not being able to get there as quick as needed for my sons but I have to do this with hopes and prayers 🙏 that something will happen good for us! Thank you all with all my heart ❤️. PayPal @JamesNelson3588 or Cash app $paythejt88

One dream we share

Hello, beautiful soul.
Even though my story has brought me many tears and much suffering, for some reason I’m writing this letter with joy and gratitude for every opportunity.

For a long time I lived giving more than I had, never expecting that one day the person I loved and trusted would leave me and my little child without a home, a car, or the means to survive.
The thought that no one but me would feed my son gave me the strength to move forward and prove day after day that darkness will never defeat the light!

And today my 5-year-old son and I share one dream: to have our own little “home of happiness” a place no one will ever be able to take away from us.
A place where the love of each one of you will continue to live on.

And if God has decided to act through your hands, and you feel your heart respond to help our dream come true, I pray that all the kindness you give returns to you in even greater measure.

Single Dad. Widower. Need immediate help.

I’m a 49 year old dad. My wife / daughter’s mother passed away Sept 6 2018. She was living somewhere else when she passed. I’ve had my daughter full-time since August 2016. We moved into a different house and the school system was terrible to say the least. Terrifying. The teachers and principles were also horrible. The education was way sub par. So we decided to homeschool. I knew this was going to be a real investment in my daughter’s future. I also knew that it was going to be harder to make money, since I had her by myself. I had to work at home and do handyman work for nearby people. That has seemed to dry up within the last few of years. My daughter is 18 now and finally finished with school. I have some business in the works. We lost so many family members since 2018 that we have basically been alone, up until recently. I’ve had several different occasions where I was extremely ill for months. I had a hernia protruding in my lower abdomen for over a year, until I was able to get Medicaid. That got canceled about a year ago. I’m behind on rent $5,000. I have an electricity shut off for $350 Dec 1 2025. Gas is around $300 & shut off around December 15th. Water is over $200 last day to pay is December 1st 2025. We haven’t had a vehicle in over a decade. We walk or ride bikes wherever we go. I’ve been learning to grow food a few years, now. Though at the moment our food is very low. As soon as I can I’m going to set up a greenhouse which I need a piece of land for and move into a new house with enough room for all that I’m doing. I want to sell fresh vegetables year round. I have a mentor who does this in another state. I’m working on a microgreens setup at the moment. Any help will be greatly appreciated and stewarded well. PayPal.me/Jeremyhula Chime: $Jeremy-Hula   Venmo: @Jeremy-Hula Cash App: $Jeremy Hula I’ve been building towards my vision for at least decade. My wife was severely mentally ill. We were married for about 15 years. Being married to someone with severe mental illness left me and my daughter shattered. We have worked with therapists. Work with mentors. Read books and implement. Work on our physical, mental, emotional, & spiritual health. Without a vehicle and oftentimes little to no income it has been really hard to build any real finances. This economy did not help. I’m working on it and I will overcome this. I hope and pray that my words have been utilized appropriately to explain my situation. There’s much more need that we have, but these are the pressing issues for now. We’ve rescued many animals and found them homes. I’ve learned to steward life with little to no resources. Anytime I’ve been able to acquire money above our immediate needs, I’ve invested into our future. I’m planning to move to the Missouri Ozarks, as soon as possible. Produce and sell food. Fruits, vegetables and animal husbandry. I want to build a soil company.  A seed company. There are many products I can sell in this type of work. I will need a truck and or a van. I want to build communities in different parts of America to grow the economy and feed people really good quality food. Teach people how to produce their own food. Thank you in advance for any help you can and will give.

single mom needing help to move

Hello, I hope you are doing well. I am a single mom of 4 girls. My goal is to move into my own place. After my husband left me, I moved into my parents’ basement and paid them rent because I couldn’t afford to pay for an apartment and manage the bills. My parents were such a big help for the girls and I.  Their support meant the world to me. Several years after, my mom retired and my dad passed away. Lately, my mom has been saying that she doesn’t want to stay in the house because it reminds her too much of my dad. My mom wants me and the girls to move out of the house so she can sell it and move down south. I recently sent one of my daughters away to college out of state. She is renting an apartment with the money she earned from working at the University. She has to take out a student loan because I can’t afford to pay her tuition and neither can she. My other daughter is a senior in high school and I’m barely scraping up enough money to pay her senior dues. My other two girls are still in school and am struggling to manage the expenses that add with with their needs. My girls and I need an environment where they can focus on their studies and where we can all just be at peace. I need a comfortable apartment for me and the girls, but can only afford a two bedroom. So I am asking for donations so that I can pay for a moving company to wrap and move heavy furniture and the initial fees and deposits to rent an apartment. I appreciate you taking the time to read this. I am extremely grateful for your help in assisting me so I can respect my mom’s wishes and move out of her home as soon as possible so she can sell her home and move down south. I thank you so much for your kindness and generosity. It means so much to me that you are willing to help a struggling mom in need.

Below is the link where you can send me donations. Thank you!

Subject: Funding Request to Support Myself , Disabled Veterans and Homeless Individuals

Mission: BuildThe Green Dream

To whom it may concern

Some days are easier than others, depending on my energy as a disabled veteran. Despite these challenges, I am determined to rebuild my life and create a future of stability, independence, and purpose. I am writing to request your support in stabilizing my monthly expenses and engine replacement in my 2004 F150 crew cab, while launching a home-based business and a broader mission: helping homeless veterans and individuals committed to rebuilding their lives.

I have had a strong work ethic since I was 14, starting in the hospitality industry and advancing from dishwasher to waiter to managing the front office of a four-diamond hotel in Annapolis, Maryland. While continuing in hospitality, I also worked in the lumber industry and eventually became a commercial and residential contractor. These experiences instilled in me responsibility, leadership, and persistence—qualities I carry into every endeavor.

I served honorably in the military from 1988 to 1991. On October 31, 2023, I was the victim of a hit-and-run while exercising on my mountain bike in rural Virginia. I suffered multiple injuries, required emergency surgery, and two weeks later endured a stroke, spending two months in rehabilitation. Since the COVID-19 pandemic in 2019, I have struggled to rebuild, facing financial and physical setbacks that have made recovery and stability challenging.

I am a proud father of three grown daughters, all with families of their own. Their support has been invaluable, yet I face pressing financial challenges. I need to replace the motor in my truck, cover rent at $450 per month, utilities, groceries, and invest in launching my home-based business, which will serve as a model to expand a larger mission.

My ultimate goal is to purchase land in East Texas or Southwest Louisiana to create a community for homeless veterans and others seeking to rebuild their lives. This community would provide housing, education, and business opportunities, empowering residents to regain independence and thrive. My business will serve as a financial and educational foundation, demonstrating sustainable pathways to success.

Your support will not only stabilize my current situation but help create a lasting impact—offering independence, purpose, and hope to disabled veterans, homeless individuals, and anyone striving to rebuild their lives. Together, we can turn resilience into opportunity and create a model of success for others to follow.

Thank you for considering this request. I would welcome the opportunity to discuss this project in detail and explore ways your support can make a transformative difference.

Sincerely,

James Whitcher

Hoping for a miracle

Hello my name is Renee and having to ask for me is so hard because I have always worked so hard my whole life raising 3 children on my own with no help. I loved every minute though and it just made me a stronger person in crazy world,  My children are now in their 30”s and I never get to see them because they are so busy. I had major surgery a few months ago and I have a lot of healing to do. So I decide to move with my kitty from NY to Arizona where the warmer winters will help with my healing and I can start a new life. Well my car broke down in TN and my extended warranty o ly covered $300 out of $ 3500 so that kind really set me back because I wasn’t planning on that much money for a mechanic bill. Also, I have to pay a $400 car payment for a lemon. I got this car from a dealership to have less problem and I’ve had way more problems and they wouldn’t take the car back after it broke down the first week I got it! Anyways I’m in Arizona now and they money I lost was suppose to be to get a place to live while I found a job and I’m out of money now and my kitty isn’t feeling good I need to get her into a vet to be seen and I need to get a roof over her head. She’s 12 years old and I love her so much and I feel so bad the way this all worked out. I’m asking for the bare minimum of $3000 but if I could get more I know we will need it because I haven’t made a car payment this past month and I don’t know the cost of what everything will add up to. His bless if you are able to help at all and still God bless even if you can’t. Thank you! This is my PayPal

For a dear Lady…

Hey there everyone.

First just let me say thank you for reading my request. I’m a proud woman and asking for help is very hard for me, even if it’s for someone else. You’ll understand if you read through. I’m a 65 year old retired floral designer and I’m almost totally disabled. I had to quit working for good in 2005. I’ve a list of ailments as long as your arm of health issues which have me bedridden 90% of the time. (I won’t bore you with the list.) I only leave the house once a month to go to my pain doctor and now and then to other doctors as well as a hospital visit occasionally. My mobility is very bad now and my primary Doc has wanted me to get a wheelchair for a couple of years now but I’ve been procrastinating. (I wouldn’t be able to use it in the house anyway unless every doorway was widened.) I use a walker away from home and do OK at home with my cane most days.

My husband is a 73 year old man with severe COPD and a spine full of arthritis. He’s a retired Marine with 25 years of service. From Vietnam to Desert Storm, he was there. He’s been to 80 countries! After the Corps he became a policeman for a few years then changed to the Sheriff’s Department. We met in 2000 while he was there. He was a cop for 12 years and retired again. He worked in Animal Control for 7 years as well. His mobility problems aren’t quite as bad as mine but he’s catching up to me fast. Plus on top of that, he can’t breathe.

With all our health problems we’ve needed quite a bit of help over time. We have a wonderful friend who used to be our neighbor. We met her through her 3 sons who were all our yard workers over their high school years. Each one as they went through the grades. Barbara, their mom started working for us cleaning the house a couple of times a month and doing extra chores and running errands sometimes. She’s honest, hard working, and dependable. She’s also a great friend. She’s partially disabled herself but manages around here ok. She’s also worked for other elderly people who needed personal care but lately her employers have been passing away. We’re all she has right now.

Four months ago Barbara’s boyfriend totaled her car driving to his first day at a new job. (He lost the job before he ever got there.) Barbara and he are quits and they lost their place since neither could afford the rent alone. He moved into an old, broken down van at his brother’s and Barbara came to us. She’s been offered several new old folks to care for but hasn’t been able to take the jobs because she doesn’t have a way to get there. We have only one vehicle ourselves and it’s 22 years old so it’s starting to dollar us to death. The hubby doesn’t want us without it in case we have an emergency. I’ve had several falls and each time I was hospitalized so he says we need it here. He’ll let her run to the store or the pharmacy for us because they’re less than 10 minutes away. She came to live with us 4 months ago and we’re giving her free room and board, I’m paying her phone bill (and have had to replace the thing when she’s broken it twice) and the hubby buys her cigarettes. She borrows money quite often but always pays it back or works it off.

Now finally I’ll get to the point. Having Barbara here to help us full time is wonderful because we both think the world of her and she’s doing dishes and laundry and other stuff we can’t easily do anymore but having an extra person in the house has done a number on our food bill, the power bill (it came today and was up over $80 from last month!), not to mention hubby’s always paying her for extra stuff he finds for her to do, like washing the vehicle or cleaning out the refrigerator. That sort of stuff. We can’t afford it. We’re getting overdrawn in both our banks for the past two months and it’s worse every time. Our savings are gone (there wasn’t that much anyway. The hubby loves to shop and the PX calls out to him…LOL)

If we could afford it we would loan Barbara enough money to buy a “new” used car but we simply don’t have it. We were living paycheck to paycheck before Barbara came and can’t afford to take out a loan. We’re already carrying a lot of debt. I took the cash value out of my life insurance two months ago to catch us up but it’s gone. We really need to get her some wheels so she can start taking more clients or get a job in town. If you folks could help out it would truly be a blessing. She’s a good person but has just fallen on a bad time financially and is dragging us down with her when all we wanted to do was help her out. We’d really appreciate anything you could spare. I know this is the worst time of year with the holidays coming up but you’ll be in all our prayers.

Thanks again!  Cathy

https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/Cathy6285

The hubby thinks she ought to be able to find a decent used car for about $10,000. Cars just cost so much nowadays that it sounds like a huge amount but it isn’t if you look at the price of used cars these days.
