Hi, I am a 58 years old man with no family. I recently became unemployed. I don’t have Social Security. I have been suffering from arthritis and gout since the age of 28, which has made my life and my career path extremely painful.

Please, I’m asking for help to save my house.
The bank is going to take it away from me because it has become very difficult for us to pay the installments.
The debt is in UVR (a type of currency that changes its price constantly in Colombia) and the payment is very high. My father was the one who was paying, but he took on other responsibilities and can no longer take care of it.
The main reason we want to keep the house is because of my little sister. She passed away and that house is the best memory we have of her since we lived there all her life. Her room is still just as she left it and her things, even though we have given away some things like her shoes and things like that, are still there.
Arriving at that house is reliving the memories of her life, when I arrived she would run out to greet me and hug me, we would play in the park in front, her birthdays…
We also know that it is something material and she will always live in our hearts, but it hurts more to lose our family home and the truth is that on the other hand it is my inheritance, it is where my mother is at peace, it is where our pets are.
My parents bought the house for more or less 80 million, my father paid on time for almost 7 years, after my sister passed away he left, my mother and I with great effort paid off the debt for almost 2 years, but since we couldn’t gather the total of the installments, what we paid was lost because the debt kept getting bigger and bigger and now we see the debt appears to be 80 million in total, all this time we have only paid the interest and nothing has been paid on the house, that is also frustrating.

We are Esteban, 34, and Mariana, 25, both engineers from Colombia. We are a young couple living on the outskirts of Medellín, Colombia, and we are reaching out to you because we have exhausted all our financial options.
In October 2023, we decided to buy a 6,000-square-meter farm. We don’t have children yet, but we dream of having a place where our future children can be born and grow up. The person who sold us the farm was an angel, offering us flexible payment options because we didn’t have cash on hand. We had an $80,000 mortgage loan approved and an apartment valued at $90,000 in Medellín, but the apartment is under a leasing credit, and we still owe $75,000.
The property we bought is worth $222,306, and we’ve already paid $52,000 to the previous owner by selling everything we had. Initially, we planned to request a $75,000 renovation loan from our bank, Bancolombia. This loan would allow us to finish paying for the apartment and transfer ownership of the farm, leaving us with just two loans to manage. However, in July, Bancolombia informed us that we couldn’t take out a third loan because we already have the mortgage and leasing credits.
With heavy hearts, we are here, desperate and looking for alternatives. Selling the farm is our last resort, but we want to be honest: we know there are people with greater needs than ours. Hello World, I find my self in the most precarious position. I am deep in debt , mainly because of unscrupulous persons who have abused me because of my kind trusting nature.
In the year 2021 my dear wife died of cancer, and shortly after my bereavement I was sent on retirement, which I was unprepared for, and with my adult daughter not yet employed. My monthly pension was less than $320.00 per month, however I was given after a year much agitation, a lump sum payment of $16,000.00.
This sum I tried to invest, so that I could offset my meager monthly pension . I tried the stock market for a year but lost significantly. I tried starting up a car dealership business , where I was encouraged by my ‘Friend’ to sell my two motor vehicles and invest in his business. He however refused to pay me for the proceeds of the sale of a van I acquired and which I intended to use and start my own business. He instead paid me in small amounts over a period of a year citing bank withdrawal problems. So I eventually was unable to reinvest as I planned. I again spent what little I had left into setting up a car depot for my car dealership which was rejected by the authorities as not being a suitable location for that type of business.
By this time I had no more money to invest. However I got a reprieve from my sister who gave me some money to buy a car for her to use when ever she visited here, she was living abroad. Unwittingly I went back to my ‘friend’ again to assist me in getting a car for her which I intended to flip (re-sell) for a profit and repeat until she was ready for it when she visits again. This was from January of 2024, when I paid him and up until this day I have not received my sisters car or the money I gave him.
I am now broke, and try as I may, he has not returned my money, again citing bank withdrawal problems. I now owe my credit card company $7,700.00, my bank $650.00, my friends $2565.00 and a furniture company $2,245.00 , making my total debt being $13,160.00.
I am only asking for $5000.00, because I am confident that I could at least start from there and rebuild by the time I am able to recover the money they owe me. I would even be willing to take a friendly loan just to prevent my debts from escalating as a result of paying interests due.

We are going through a very difficult time and need all the help we can get. Our beloved Nick (Shih-Tzu) has been in hospital for over 15 days, facing a delicate and unexpected situation. He suffered sudden paralysis in his paws, which left us in a state of constant worry. Since then, Nick has been receiving intensive and specialized care, as his condition requires continuous and rigorous attention.
Unfortunately, even with a health plan, we are facing major financial challenges. Nick’s health insurance is still in a waiting period, which means that many of his medical expenses are not fully covered. For each procedure or treatment required, we have to pay a co-payment, in addition to anticipating the plan’s waiting period, which results in additional costs that we didn’t expect to have to bear so soon.
The medical team who are looking after Nick have been extraordinary, offering all the support necessary for his recovery. However, due to the complexity of the case, they estimate that he will need to remain hospitalized for at least another two weeks, which the current plan does not cover. During this time, Nick will continue to receive intensive treatment, some of which is unfortunately not covered by the health plan. This includes specialized procedures, medication and other essential care to improve his condition.
We are looking for alternatives to finance these costs, but resources are limited and every day the expenses only increase as his condition improves. That’s why we’re humbly asking for the support of friends, family and anyone else who can contribute to Nick’s treatment.
