Dear Sir/Madam,
I work as a senior analytical chemist in the Quality Control laboratory in a pharmaceutical company in New Jersey. As I am a salaried worker, I was working long hours including Saturday and getting less sleep. This started affecting my health. I suddenly got a feeling that I can’t do this job anymore. I started getting some negative thoughts. If I don’t have a job then how I can feed a family of five people and then soon fell into massive depression disorder due to recurring negative thoughts (severe anxiety and depression). I was hospitalized in an emergency room (Penn Medical Center in Princeton NJ) on 11/15/24 and then on 11/16/24, I was transported to a mental health treating hospital (carrier clinic in Belle Mead, NJ) because of suicidal thoughts.
As my health condition was very severe, the psychiatrist at carrier clinic informed my company through a letter that I would take about six months for my full recovery. Then my company approved 12 weeks of family medical leave of absence (FMLA) without pay from 11/18/24 to 02/07/25 and in addition asked me to pay $376.34 biweekly towards my health insurance premium from 11/18/24 to 02/07/25. Currently, I am paying $374.36 biweekly to maintain my health insurance plan.
Exceptional Medical Transportation Service charged me $929.05 for transporting me to Carrier Clinic from the emergency room. My health insurance did not cover the above charge because I did not meet the deductible of $1000. So I have to pay $929.05 to exceptional medical transportation Service soon. I stayed at Carrier clinic for 10 days from 11/16/24 to 11/25/24. They charged me for my illness an amount of $38,968.47 but luckily my health insurance paid $38,594.09. I have to pay $374.38 for the remaining deductible and co-insurance soon.
As a follow up, carrier clinic advised me to take therapy sessions for my mental health illness from 12/02/24 to 02/07/25. Now, I am undergoing therapy sessions at Genpsych in Princeton NJ. I am sure I have to pay about $2500 for therapy sessions for the portion not covered by my health insurance very soon.
By the end of January, 2025, I have to pay $9,500 as tuition towards my son’s third semester. I don’t have a job and I don’t know how I can pay his tuition!
In addition, it is my bad luck that at my home, water heater and heating system have become very old and need to be replaced. Binsky home service examined both systems shown above and gave an estimate of $6000 for replacement of water heater with new valves and about $13,000 for the replacement of new heating system. As I don’t have a job, I had to postpone these replacements of water heater and heating system with severe risks to our health. This is because Binsky home service informed me that water heater is operating at a high pressure and the water heater can explode at any time and the heating system is rusted and can emit carbon monoxide gas at any time. These issues could be very dangerous for us but still I have to postpone these replacements due to lack of money.
On 02/10/25, I have an option of going back to my old job if I get well by 02/09/25, but it is a very hectic job. I am worried if I can sustain it or get fired from work, I don’t know. I requested my company to give me a data review job or a writing job in Quality Assurance department which are less stressful. However, my company turned down my request and asked me to resume old Quality Control lab work which is very difficult for me. I have applied for jobs elsewhere but I don’t have a good response yet. Clearly, I am living in difficult times of my life. I never faced this situation before.
Any financial help from your organization would be very helpful to me no matter how small it may be.
Hopefully, if my financial situation improves in the future, then I will be in a position to donate money to those who may be in a dire need of money like I am now. In fact, I have donated money in the past to people in need.
