Funding for Robotics Startup

Hello,

I have been independently developing a counter-UAS (C-UAS) system with the goal of pursuing a U.S. Department of Defense SBIR contract. After numerous iterations and failures, I have successfully completed the initial stages of the prototype. The system is now capable of autonomous flight, and I am currently focused on developing and refining the detection system.

I prefer not to disclose the specific detection methodology at this stage, but I would be happy to provide additional technical details to qualified potential investors or partners under the appropriate circumstances.

I am currently seeking funding because I am reaching the limits of what I can accomplish with my available resources. Much of the testing and development has been conducted using inexpensive, off-the-shelf materials and components. While this approach has helped me explore ways to make the system more efficient and cost-effective, I have reached a point where certain higher-quality components are necessary to properly evaluate the system’s capabilities.

For example, the current prototype uses a three-microphone circular array for acoustic detection. The microphones are inexpensive, off-the-shelf components. Higher-quality microphones with improved sensitivity and noise-rejection characteristics could significantly improve the system’s ability to distinguish relevant signals from environmental noise.

The microphone array is just one example. There are several other components and subsystems where I have intentionally used lower-cost hardware due to funding constraints. Access to additional capital would allow me to evaluate higher-performance components, conduct more rigorous testing, and determine which technologies provide meaningful improvements versus which can be replaced with simpler, lower-cost alternatives.

My goal is ultimately to develop a system that is not only technically capable, but also practical and cost-effective to manufacture and deploy.

I understand to win such a large contract by a solo engineer is a long shot. I do believe that even if I cannot win that it will open other doors and pathways for me to go down where I can find success. I truly believe that mastery is repetition and perfection is iteration. It is only a matter of time before I win.

If you do donate I would be more than willing to workout some type of deal for equity or something instead. I’m not sure how that would work right now but we can talk about it if/when we get there.

I am 39 year old male from Seattle, WA. About 8 years ago I began teaching myself to code, work on electronics, data engineering, train models, and more. You can view some of my work below on my website, github, and huggingface. I started to freelance engineer a few years ago after I researching into the nuances and subtleties of the human voice . I created a model that can whisper very convincingly. This brought me very quick success, but it was not what I loved to do. I love building things with my hands and mind. So I decided to move into robotics and see what I could make happen. Thank you for taking the time to read this!
