I’m reaching out with an open heart and a hopeful spirit. My name is Kelly, and I am humbly asking for help so that I can receive the treatment I urgently need to begin healing from years of unaddressed trauma and PTSD — the root cause of my addiction.
🌱 A Glimpse of My Journey
I had 13 years of continuous sobriety. During that time, I was a single mother raising five young children. I went to college full-time, earning two associate degrees with honors. I served as the President of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society at my college and even earned a spot on the very same voter’s ballot as President George W. Bush during the primary elections as a Precinct Committee Person for my precinct.
Those years were filled with growth, service, and dreams I never imagined I could achieve. But that success didn’t come easily — it followed six years of painful attempts to get sober. Eventually, I found my footing, but I now understand that sobriety and following a program alone weren’t enough.
I never addressed the deeper wounds — the trauma and PTSD that silently haunted me. Over time, depression crept in, and unresolved pain turned into emotional isolation, leading to my relapse.
🛠️ Why I’m Asking for Help
I am determined to break that cycle for good. I’ve found a dual-diagnosis inpatient treatment facility that addresses both trauma and addiction simultaneously. I am ready to do the hard work, but I can’t do it alone.
To fully focus on recovery without the fear of becoming homeless or losing my Cane Corso, Silver — who is more than just a dog, she’s my family, my emotional anchor, my life, — I need help covering my basic living expenses for three months.
Silver has been my silent companion through every moment — the highs and especially the lows. When I couldn’t find words for the pain, she simply laid her big head in my lap and reminded me that I mattered. I can’t imagine healing without knowing she’s safe.
