The dream of a college education has always been a cornerstone of my life. Now, with a wife and two young daughters, that dream has expanded to encompass theirs as well. However, the financial burden of higher education seems an ever-growing obstacle. This scholarship opportunity presents a beacon of hope, a chance to bridge the gap and turn our aspirations into reality.
Both my wife (Megan) and I (James) are dedicated music educators. We spend our days fostering young minds, nurturing curiosity, and instilling a love for learning. We believe education is the key to a fulfilling life, and we strive to be positive role models, demonstrating its power. However, the irony is not lost on us. Despite being invested in the educational system, affording a college education for ourselves seems an uphill battle.

Adding another layer to our financial landscape is my wife’s upcoming tuition needs. To maintain our teaching licenses, we must undergo continual professional development, and there is a summer masters degree program Megan can attend that serves this end while maximizing our family time. The additional cost of this program, however, further tightens our budget, making the dream of her continuing education seem even more distant.
