Hi,
First off, thank you for taking the time to read my story. I am a proud mom to an only child who has been my world in the past 19 years of her existence. A few years ago, my daughter was given the opportunity to see the United States for the first time. It was a trip that my husband spent a lot of time and money on because he wanted our daughter to see the world beyond our developing country in Southeast Asia. During our trip, she was able to see a few states in the US, specifically Florida, New York and Missouri. At that time, her uncle was working in one of the top 15 universities in US. When we came to visit him, he decided to show our daughter what the campus looked like. That day change her life forever.
Fast forward to 2 years after that trip, our daughter gets accepted into a private high school in St. Louis that provides student visas for International students. She graduates in the top 5% of her class, and top 10% of all seniors in Illinois (since we lived in Illinois at that time). She applies to the school she has been setting her heart on over the past 2 years, and she gets accepted! With God’s grace, all her hard work had paid off.
We did not know if we would be able to afford her education at that time, but we know there would be options available to us/her later on. Unfortunately, we found out that she was not eligible for most of the scholarships, grants and loans because of her student visa status. As we had just moved to the US, my husband and I had no credit history and therefore could not take a loan out on our own, and we had no close relatives who could sign off as a cosigner either. Our savings would see us through our daughter’s first year in college, but we would have to find finding for the rest of the 3 years. As circumstances would have it, the funding we had expected did not pan out…
Our daughter’s tuition is due in a couple of weeks, which is why I am now reaching out to the kindness of your hearts… those of you who would even take the time to read my story. And I pray that you can help us get through this difficult time, so we can provide for our daughter’s future. I thank you for your generosity…
Sincerely,
A Loving Mom
