Emergency – my tuition fees are due and I have just lost my job.

I am just beginning the third and final year of my PhD. Over the past two years I have paid my fees by doing shift work, working long hours whilst also researching and writing my PhD thesis. All my efforts to obtain grants and scholarships have been unsuccessful, despite being put forward for scholarships on two separate occasions by my university department.

Yesterday, without notice and without any reason being given, I was laid-off (which legally they are able to do, even though I have been with them for three years, as I am classed as a casual worker.) I am now unable to fund my studies, with only a few days to go until my first payment is due. I have no idea what to do, as I do not now have enough time to find a new job before the payment is due and I do not have a credit card, nor can I apply for a loan as I am now unemployed.

I have been able to earn £1,300 pounds, but my fees are £4, 500 so I need £3,000 to make up the difference. I would be incredibly grateful to anyone who can help in any way.
