Somehow, I’ve made it to one of the top med schools in the country after years of grinding it out with very low odds (parents never finished high school, no English, tough childhood). Despite that, I’ve honored every class so far, started winning awards, and continue to give this path everything I have, because I can’t see myself doing anything else.
I genuinely love every bit of medical school so far, and can only wonder what amazing potential I could reach if I didn’t have to worry about food and rent, skyrocketing tuition and recent restriction on loans and could avail costly opportunities like conferences and resources. I have no complaints from life though, I am extremely grateful and blessed to have reached here so far.
I have no income and no time for a job with school + research, and with the recent student loan changes, I am haunted by the thought of being unable to finish the one thing I have invested all of my life in.
