I’m reaching out to humbly request financial support during what has been one of the most challenging periods of my life, both professionally and personally.
I recently filed a lawsuit against my former employer, a large corporate insurance company, for wrongful termination, civil rights violations, and retaliation. After four years of outstanding performance reviews from various managers, I suddenly received a “below expectations” review from my most recent manager, who had only managed me for three months. This shift occurred after a series of events that I believe were intended to retaliate against me for raising concerns and exercising my rights as an employee. Despite these challenges, I am determined to fight for justice—not just for myself but for others who may be facing similar situations.
Since my termination in February 2024, I’ve been actively applying for jobs, including entry-level positions that pay half of my previous salary. However, despite my efforts, I haven’t been able to secure employment. I suspect I may have been blacklisted in the industry as a scare tactic, an unfortunate reality in cases like mine. My credit cards are nearly maxed out, and I’ve even applied for government assistance to help make ends meet. Despite the emotional toll this battle has taken on me, I am not giving up.
I believe it’s important to stand up to corporate bullies, and I’m grateful to have former co-workers—three of whom are senior leaders—willing to testify on my behalf. They witnessed firsthand how I was unfairly targeted and are prepared to risk their own careers to support me in court.
However, I’m reaching a critical point financially. As a single mother, I’m struggling to cover essential bills while I continue to fight for justice. I’m asking for any donations you can provide to help me maintain stability during this difficult time. Your contributions will go toward essential bills like rent, utilities, and groceries, allowing me to focus on the lawsuit and securing employment without the constant stress of financial instability.
Here’s a brief summary of my journey:
- I began working for my former employer as a contractor in October 2019, and by November 2020, I was hired full-time as a Senior Compliance Analyst.
- In May 2023, I received an outstanding mid-year performance review under my previous manager.
- In July 2023, I was transferred to a new manager, who quickly targeted me with unwarranted criticisms.
- In October 2023, although receiving an outstanding performance review a few months prior, I received a poor performance review.
- I subsequently contacted human resources (HR) to dispute the performance review. I submitted a detailed timeline and rebuttal to HR requesting an investigation.
- Despite taking on a special project that improved team efficiency by creating a comprehensive resource guide through Microsoft OneNote, I was unfairly placed on a Performance Improvement Plan in December 2023 and eventually terminated in February 2024.
This entire ordeal has been not only a legal and financial struggle but also an emotional one. I’ve been navigating depression, and some days are harder than others, but I keep reminding myself: if you don’t stand for something, you’ll fall for anything. With your help, I can continue fighting for what’s right, not just for myself but for others facing similar challenges.
Any donation, no matter how small, would make an incredible difference in my ability to keep pushing forward. I am so grateful for your consideration and support.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for any help you’re able to offer during this time.
