I never imagined I would find myself in this situation. For 12 years, I devoted my life to taking care of my sweet mother, and when she passed away in March 2024, I lost everything—my purpose, my reason for being. Since then, life has only gotten harder.
I am a Technical Writer, and despite my experience, I have struggled to find stable work. My last contract ended on December 17, 2024, and since then, I’ve applied endlessly—only to receive rejection after rejection. My savings have completely run dry, and now, for the first time in my 48 years, I am facing eviction.
I have been served a 3-Day Pay or Quit notice, demanding $3,330.54 in cash by April 15, 2025, or the eviction process will begin. My checking account is already in overdraft by -$2,527.06, and I have nothing left to fall back on.
But the hardest part? My 12-year-old son, Mike, has been fighting leukemia for the past three months. As a single mother, watching him go through this battle while being unable to provide stability has been heartbreaking. The weight of medical bills is crushing me, and I am doing everything I can to keep us afloat.
If we lose our home, I don’t know where we will go. Our only option would be my car—a 2010 Honda Fit—which is no place for my sick child or even for our 13-year-old pug, who has been with us through everything.
I never wanted to ask for help like this. I have always tried to be strong, to push through on my own. But right now, I am drowning, and I don’t have any other options.
