My journey began with a promising career in fashion, where I was financially stable and successful. Before my marriage, I enjoyed a fulfilling life, surrounded by friends and family. However, everything changed when I married. My husband turned out to be controlling and abusive, isolating me from loved ones and forcing me to leave my career behind. Living with him felt like imprisonment, yet I endured for the sake of my children.
We had two daughters, and during my pregnancy with our second child, I discovered he was having an affair. His abuse intensified, and it became painfully obvious to our three-year-old. When our second daughter was born, he declared he was leaving and took most of our belongings. He emptied our bank accounts, leaving us bankrupt and homeless. I was left with a newborn and a three-year-old, no job, no money, and no home. The Georgia courts ordered him to pay child support and granted visitation rights, but he evaded his responsibilities, moving out of state with his mistress and losing contact with our daughters.
Despite these hardships, I worked tirelessly, taking on low-paying jobs to provide for my children. I sacrificed personal happiness, never dating or socializing, focusing solely on being a mother. I managed to send my oldest to college with the help of Pell grants and student loans. Yet, life threw another hardship my way: I totaled my car without collision insurance, lost my job due to transportation issues, and am now burdened with mounting debt from loans and bills.
Mentally and emotionally exhausted, I find myself at a crossroads. A friend suggested I seek help through this platform, believing that a kind-hearted person might assist me in digging out of this hole. It’s difficult for me to ask for help, but I am hopeful that with some support, I can start fresh—free from the weight of debt and despair.
