To make thins go faster for anyone who just want to get to the point. I’ll split this into immediate problem and how we got here. As of now today is 11,8,2023. I truly hate asking for help from outside sources and it took me a few minutes to decide to do this because I want to be the one to protect us and guard our future but I truly hope that someone helps us out I love her so much. I don’t want her to give up on her dream just because of my shortcomings or other peoples when I’m able to help in some way.
Hello, my girlfriend and I have been together for 3 years and soon to be 4 in December. She’s is a nursing student and she is working a part time job. To get straight to the problem we are $612 short off rent and now have to pay $814 within 4 days (5 when originally given the letter) or leave within 30 days. If that happens she will have to move back with her unstable family situation; she’ll have to drop nursing school, which would make all of our current sacrifices and payments over the past 2 years pointless.
As for what started this chain of events it started in June and July when my mother was doing her physical therapy, she’s blind so I would have to call out from time to time to go up and help her out. My current job at that time as a banquet server politely asked me to choose between them or her in a strange company kind of way. I had to leave and switch jobs and used what I had saved up for rent for the next 2 months. Then I got a job as an account executive for “Global Standards”. I’m not sure if they were a scam kind of place but they allegedly have a lot of branch’s I only had 1 meeting with. After completing training we were supposed to get $600 for sign on, $300 for each week. They worded it that way but we were only getting the $600 after our 10th day. On my 10th day the people who were hired the same day as I was and myself were terminated for not reaching a quota. This information wasn’t given to us nor in the contract but because they wrote it off as performance no one can take action against it, despite having us outside during the hottest time recorded in summer and with limited resources and poor training. My end pay for those 2 weeks of heat was $63 from commission.
I spent the next couple of weeks hunting for jobs intensely. I found a ton of jobs that accepted me like being a travel agent and a leasing agent, even real estate accepted me but I had to pay for rent with what I had left over so I could pay for the licensing. From there I ended up at Target, fulfillment to be exact. The job was honestly just standing, walking, fixing, communicating, easy stuff. I was the top person on the team for 2 weeks according to my team lead. Then fall pushed in and we had a rush of customers and orders so I just kept keeping up. One I came to work and there were 4 orders for pickup with only 20 minutes and less for 30+ items each. The rule from orientation was to pick the “lowest timer” but my coworkers were blatantly avoiding them. I picked them myself and only got one on time and the rest were completed but a little bit over the time limit; that was my first strike. I told the leaders what was going on and they said they would handle it. Then it kept happening from there and they terminated me for performance. I made sure I documented the problems and got evidence with witnesses, so I brought them up during my final meeting with the store manager. Even with that and eye witnesses they said it was too late and they would pay me for the 3 hours I was clocked in and I still never got that pay.
It’s nearing the end of October and my solution to this was since I still had $290 left and she was still working as a barista we could just save what she made and what I had to pay Novembers rent. Our lease ends in December and to avoid the rent problems and the fact our current housing doesn’t match the pay. We have been looking for a new place since August and had planned on moving to one of them. We realized that isn’t possible without help so we started looking for a housemate in early October. We already have my mom as a Cosigner for the lease even though she is struggling herself because her mom has a kind of “One tracked mind” for their cultural standards. We found a housemate that we are planning on meeting this Saturday. We decided it best for us all to stick together so we have more people paying rent and we all get to save money; mostly for her nursing school supplies.
Here’s problem 2: On the last week of October her car coincidentally broke down while at work and she had to uber back home and back to work as well as get it fixed as if the car was playing a sick joke on us with it’s timing. Her mom said she would help her pay for the car repairs since she is the one who gave her the sisters no longer used car. But she somehow forgot the same day and ignored her, so all of our November rent money on her end is gone. I paid my end but because we are late and have a time limit we could have paid it but instead of having to pay $600 left we need to pay $800. We can’t use her daily pay by the time limit because it wont be enough by then and we would still need at the most $650. We only need to be here for one more month until we move with our housemate in December.
It just feels like everything has been going downhill since I made my choice of working at an office place over a barber shop I applied for and I can’t help but think it’s my fault we are in this situation. In all honesty it feels good to put this down somewhere because it’s hard to talk about this annoying feeling with her and this frustration while thinking it’s all on me that this is happening and all on me to fix it. This may be ironic but I am truly begging that anyone help us, if not us help her, help me help her achieve her goal and her dream. I truly don’t want all the stress and tire she has been feeling from working and going to classes back and forth with only one day of rest which she doesn’t even use for resting but instead uses for studying to go to waste. We only need $800 at the most, if that’s too much even $600 and I’ll do some type of odd job if I can find where to get it. Even if that’s too much $400 is fine and I’ll figure out the rest somehow. Please just help me help her.
