I’m reaching out to you today in hopes of finding support during a challenging time. I’ve been a nurse for almost forty years and now I am retired. My career was my passion, and helping others has always been my calling. That is why I’m writing to you today—I need your help.
My husband and I have been married for almost thirty years, and we’ve shared a life built on love, service, and faith. However, last year, we lost my mother after caring for her for seventeen years. Caring for her disabled status was a full-time job, and it took a significant toll on our finances. We’re now facing a substantial mortgage of over 400K, student loans, and credit card debt. We only have our social security to depend on.
We worry that if one of us passes first, the other one will be homeless because the one left will not be able to afford to remain in our home, given our significant financial challenges. We saw our lives going very differently than this.
We want to stay in our home, and if we need a caregiver or nurse, then we would like to be able to hire someone to help us while we live our lives out at home. We only want what we were able to provide for my mom at the end of her life, and that is to live with dignity and improve the quality of our lives debt-free.
We’re hoping to raise money to pay off our mortgage and student loans, pay our credit cards, and maybe take a honeymoon we have never had. We would be so grateful for any help you can offer.
