I am requesting financial assistance due to an unexpected and devastating loss of income. I am a single mother of for, two of them are age 5, 10, 17, and I am solely responsible for providing for my family.
For more than five years, I worked extremely hard to maintain my sobriety, rebuild my credit, and create a stable life for my children. One of my greatest accomplishments was being able to purchase a home where my children could have a safe and stable place to grow up. I worked hard for that opportunity and never imagined that I would suddenly be in danger of losing the home I fought so hard to provide for my family.
My primary and only reliable source of income was my employment with a large company. When I was unexpectedly terminated, it felt as though my entire world changed overnight. Losing my job immediately put my family in a serious financial crisis. I am now struggling to keep up with our basic living expenses, including our mortgage and utilities.
This situation has also been extremely difficult emotionally. After more than five years of staying clean and working hard to change my life, the stress and fear caused by suddenly losing my income brought back urges that I had fought very hard to overcome. Despite how difficult this has been, I have remained strong and continued to choose my children and our future. I am determined not to let this setback undo the progress I have made.
I have been doing side work wherever I can to keep our utilities on and make sure my children have what they need. However, the income from my side hustle is not enough to cover our mortgage or the growing expenses of maintaining our household.
I am currently working with my mortgage company through loss mitigation in an effort to address my past-due mortgage payments and prevent my home from entering pre-foreclosure. I am doing everything within my ability to resolve this situation, but I cannot do it without temporary financial assistance.
Since losing my job, I have actively been searching for employment. In approximately a week and a half, I have submitted 19 job applications, but I have not yet received a job offer or enough response to replace my lost income. I am continuing to apply and will accept work as soon as I am able.
I am not asking for assistance because I am unwilling to work. I am asking for help because I experienced an unexpected loss of my only source of income while supporting four children and trying to protect the home I worked so hard to obtain. Any financial assistance provided would help my family remain stable, keep our utilities connected, and give me the opportunity to catch up on our mortgage while I continue searching for employment.
My children depend on me, and I am doing everything I can to keep our family together, stable, and in our home. I would be extremely grateful for any assistance available during this difficult period. $hattyp83
