I hope this letter finds you in good health and high spirits. My name is Gregory Savoy, and I am reaching out to you with a heavy heart and a plea for assistance that I never imagined making. I am a 73-year-old Vietnam veteran, and I find myself in an extremely challenging situation that threatens my stability and well-being.
For the past nine years, I have been residing in a 24-hour Skilled Nursing Care facility in New Orleans. My circumstances are compounded by the fact that I am 100% disabled, a result of the sacrifices made during my service in Vietnam. After a prolonged and arduous five-year battle, I was finally approved for a monthly Veterans Affairs (VA) benefit of $1,440. While this has been a significant relief, my financial woes persist.
The nursing care facility has already depleted $75,000 from my 401K savings, and they are currently receiving my Social Security monthly check. Given that Medicaid covers a substantial portion of my nursing care expenses, I was initially reassured that my VA disability funds were rightfully mine to keep. However, I now find myself caught in a bureaucratic nightmare.
In good faith, I utilized the first disability check I received, which amounted to $16,000, to assist my three children who were facing their own challenges. Regrettably, this decision has led to unexpected consequences. Medicaid is now demanding the repayment of all previous disability checks, in addition to the $16,000 I spent on my family. The financial burden has become overwhelming, and I am now at risk of eviction and homelessness.
I am writing to you today with a humble request for your support during this dire time. I am reaching out to individuals with compassionate hearts, like yours, who may be willing to contribute to a fund that could help me regain financial stability and avoid the imminent threat of homelessness.
I have set up a PayPal account for donations, and any contribution, no matter how small, will be deeply appreciated. You can donate securely at www.paypal.com/paypalme/gpsavoy. Your generosity will go directly towards settling the outstanding debts and securing a stable living situation for me in my twilight years.
I understand that times are tough for many, and I do not make this request lightly. If you are unable to contribute financially, I kindly ask for your thoughts, prayers, and any assistance you may be able to provide in spreading the word about my situation.
I am grateful for your time, consideration, and any support you can offer. May you be blessed for your kindness, and thank you for being a beacon of hope during this challenging chapter of my life.
With sincere gratitude,
Gregory Savoy
